Blue Universe will doubtless be popular with punters after a couple of creditable efforts in warmer races at Sandown, but this will be no penalty kick and it may pay to side with IKIGAI STAR. The son of Sea The Stars was a useful Flat performer for Joseph O'Brien and judging by the pick of his efforts in that sphere, there is definitely hope that he can win a race of this nature. It may be a long final furlong for supporters of Camarrate, who has the ability to get competitive but has yet to fully prove he stays.

There should be plenty more to come from CAMARRATE over hurdles given his Flat ability and this looks a good opening for him. Newcomers to this sphere Star Player and Ikigai Star could be the main dangers.

Class-dropper BLUE UNIVERSE is the pick on hurdles form. Camarrate and Star Player look the biggest dangers.

BILLAMS LEGACY clearly benefited from wind surgery when finishing an excellent second at Catterick in December 2022, pulling clear with the winner, and off what looks a workable mark on her handicap debut, she should take some stopping, despite the absence. The lightly-raced Omaha Wish represents title-seeking Dan Skelton and there is no doubt she will be primed to strike on her first foray into handicap company. Glance At Me completes the shortlist after a creditable second off this mark at Plumpton.

A chance is taken on REBEL ANGEL who should have scope off this opening hurdle mark judged on her Flat ability. David Pipe has his team in form and confidence in this 4-y-os chance would increase should the betting vibes be strong. Omaha Wish is another handicap newcomer in good hands and is second choice ahead of the more-established Glance At Me.

Rebel Angel and OMAHA WISH are interesting now they go handicapping while Billams Legacy is also considered despite the absence.

JERRASH's official rating continues to slide and after a subdued effort over timber at Plumpton, this looks to be a good opportunity for him to return to the winner's enclosure back over the larger obstacles. Ingennio disappointed when down the field over an extended 2m at Huntingdon last week but while he comes with risks attached, stepping up in trip on his second start since undergoing a breathing operation can help him give the selection something to think about. Shortcross Storm completes the shortlist, but inconsistency continues to be the main concern with him.

A weak seller in which JERRASH is the only one in the handicap proper here and hard to oppose reverted to fences. Ingennio appeals as the one to chase home Gary Moore's 7-y-o ahead of Shortcross Storm.

Switched to a selling handicap, JERRASH (nap) can prove too good for his modest opponents. Ingennio looks the only realistic threat.

SAMBEZI was well held when second at Plumpton last time, but a reproduction of that effort may still be good enough to take this contest. Up For Parol struggled in the Lanzarote two starts ago, but his efforts either side of that suggest that he could make the frame. Charlie's Glance should not be underestimated on his return to action.

UP FOR PAROL could be the way to go back up in trip after a better showing at Chepstow. Sambezi might be the danger in a tricky contest.

None of the runners are solid but CHARLIE'S GLANCE still has potential and he runs off the same mark as his chase win last February.

CLOUDY WEDNESDAY was only beaten a neck into second over 2m4f at Huntingdon a week ago and the eight-year-old merits the utmost respect off the same mark here. Conceroe also filled the runner-up position on his most recent outing, over 3m5f at this venue, and he could prove to be the main threat, although Vetoncall showed more last time and cannot be discounted.

CLOUDY WEDNESDAY looked back to his best when edged out only by an unexposed sort at Huntingdon last week so can resume winning ways off the same mark. Low-mileage veteran Vetoncall stepped up on his return when fourth at Chepstow and rates the main threat back on his winning mark, with Conceroe best of the others.

Course winners VETONCALL, Conceroe and Cloudy Wednesday have all recently returned to form. The first-named is selected.

STAR WALKING was impressive between the flags in Ireland a few months ago and it would be no surprise to see Harry Fry's mare, who cost 115,000 pounds subsequently, make a successful debut under Rules. Jazzmina Queen is related to plenty of winners and has to be of interest on her racecourse bow, while Briery Bee and Dropitlikeitshot are next best.

STAR WALKING won her only start in points and has Brian Hughes booked for this Rules debut in what doesn't look a strong race on paper, so she's an obvious choice. Jazzmina Queen is in good hands and makes some appeal on pedigree, so she looks the main threat ahead of fellow newcomer Briery Bee.

Irish point winner STAR WALKING is first choice, ahead of the attractively bred newcomers Jazzmina Queen and Briery Bee.
