1st (2) (8/13 +65%)Howth |
8/13(+65%) | (2) Howth 8/13, Raced freely when winning a maiden hurdle at Market Rasen over 2m1f by 2l last time; runner up has won since; trainer in form; more to come judged on classy flat form; could be tough to peg back Useful Flat stayer; beat two next-time-out winners on last month's stable/hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/2 -67%)High Court Judge |
5/2(-67%) | (1) High Court Judge 5/2, Ideally suited by trip when winning a maiden hurdle at Huntingdon by 3/4l last time beating well backed stablemate; steadily progressive; more to come judged on flat form; strong claims Resurgent on AW this year and a recent maiden hurdle winner; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (6/1 -100%)Alvesta |
6/1(-100%) | (4) Alvesta 6/1, In need of the experience fourth beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon latest where let down by jumping; gets weight from main rivals; outside chance Has taken pretty well to hurdling but has a bit to find with the top two on the racecard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (28/1 -75%)Francesi |
28/1(-75%) | (3) Francesi 28/1, Below par 5l third in a handicap over 8f at Lingfield most recent run; 3 years without a win on flat; up in trip; big ask on hurdle debut Placed on the Flat in April but has modest strike-rate; makes hurdle debut today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Having recently got the better of an odds-on stablemate at Huntingdon, there could be more to come from HIGH COURT JUDGE in this discipline. That was only the five-year-old's third appearance over hurdles and he shades the verdict over Howth. Tom Lacey's charge made a winning hurdles bow at Market Rasen last month and isn't taken lightly. Alvesta may fare best of the remainder.

High Court Judge is not opposed lightly but HOWTH was a better horse on the Flat and has also won over hurdles.

1st (5) (4/1 +78%)Varinia |
4/1(+78%) | (5) Varinia 4/1, Below par down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m5f at Ludlow most recent; ran big race under overly aggressive ride over C&D previously; not ruled out for yard with good record here Well beaten last time but ran big race when second over C&D on handicap debut in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/4 +50%)Dartmouth Rose |
11/4(+50%) | (3) Dartmouth Rose 11/4, Ran to form 6l third in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Southwell most recent run where given too much to do; step up in trip a plus; big chance if ridden more positively Placed over 2m4f in first two handicaps (one here); moves up in trip again today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/1 +64%)One Man Party |
4/1(+64%) | (4) One Man Party 4/1, Bit too much to do fourth beaten 8l in a handicap chase over 3m2f at Fontwell latest; usually held up; best recent hurdles form over C&D; outside claims 0-18; second over C&D in February and now 2lb lower but others appeal more all the same. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (8/1 -140%)Kankin |
8/1(-140%) | (1) Kankin 8/1, Ideally suited by trip second beaten 11l in a handicap hurdle over 2m6f at Stratford latest; that form franked; trainer in form; course winner over fences; threat if stamina holds up Course winner over fences and ran well over hurdles at Stratford last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (2/1 -175%)Lyness Dancer |
2/1(-175%) | (2) Lyness Dancer 2/1, Well backed when landing a handicap by 4 1/4l off 79 over 3m1f at Huntingdon last time in decisive fashion; unexposed at 3m; not out of it with further improvement likely Travelled strongly before asserting very comfortably on recent stable debut; major player. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

LYNESS DANCER made a perfect stable debut when coasting home at Huntingdon last month. Although the assessor has reacted with a 10lb hike in the ratings, the six-year-old looked to score with plenty in the tank and a double could be on the cards. Kankin returned to form with a respectable second at Stratford 24 days ago and may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Dartmouth Rose.

There is no strong temptation to oppose LYNESS DANCER (nap), who won very comfortably on last month's stable debut.

1st (4) (11/8 +50%)Getaway Jewel |
11/8(+50%) | (4) Getaway Jewel 11/8, Probably needed race fourth beaten 17l in a handicap chase over 2m1f at Market Rasen latest; minor chance but losing run stretches back 2 years Regressive 11yo; has form over C&D but needs to better recent efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/2 -67%)Pottersjetamay |
5/2(-67%) | (1) Pottersjetamay 5/2, Ran to form second beaten 15l in a handicap hurdle at Southwell latest where ridden aggressively; given too much to do on chase debut previously; leading claims with improvement likely Ran okay on chasing debut in April and was runner-up over hurdles last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 -50%)Honneur De Sivola |
5/1(-50%) | (2) Honneur De Sivola 5/1, Appeared not to stay comfortably held in a handicap chase over 3m2f at Uttoxeter last time; generally out of form; down in trip; bit to find back from break 0-10 over fences and absent since two underwhelming runs last summer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (7/2 +22%)Extraordinary Man |
7/2(+22%) | (3) Extraordinary Man 7/2, Appeared not to stay comfortably held in a handicap chase over 2m3f at Fontwell last time; down in trip; inconsistent but big threat if bringing best Very inconsistent but lurks on a good mark and has run well here before. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

POTTERSJETAMAY supplemented his promising fifth-placed stable bow at Warwick with a respectable second over hurdles at Southwell last time. Matt Crawley's inmate makes plenty of appeal reverting to fences and this could prove a suitable opportunity for the six-year-old to open his account. Three-time chase winner Getaway Jewel's mark continues to tumble and he shouldn't be underestimated, while Extraordinary Man should appreciate the reapplication of cheekpieces.

Topweight POTTERSJETAMAY probably still has potential over fences and gets the nod ahead of Extraordinary Man.

1st (3) (13/8 +28%)Tara Iti |
13/8(+28%) | (3) Tara Iti 13/8, Yard has won last two runnings of race; well backed when scored by 3l off 95 at Plumpton in April; second beaten 3l off 101 last time where outstayed late; consistent; sharp track a plus; threat Back in peak form for new stable in recent months; suited by this C&D; obvious contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/1 +64%)Piecederesistance |
5/1(+64%) | (4) Piecederesistance 5/1, Probably needed race beaten 9 1/4l in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Sedgefield last time but hinted at revival; well treated on autumn C&D runner up effort; interesting 0-8 over hurdles but caught the eye when travelling well for a long way last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (13/8 -103%)Light Dragoon |
13/8(-103%) | (1) Light Dragoon 13/8, Quickened clear impressively when landing a handicap by 16l off 105 over 2m2f at Fontwell last time; trainer in form; remains unexposed; can follow up Won Fontwell handicap by 16l last month and is now 2-4 over hurdles; must be considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (6/1 +25%)Callin Baton Rouge |
6/1(+25%) | (2) Callin Baton Rouge 6/1, Probably needed race fourth beaten 11l in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Huntingdon latest; drop down in trip a big plus; outside chance in tight contest Won three in a row last and made a very encouraging reappearance last month; respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

LIGHT DRAGOON trounced the opposition at Fontwell on his return to action. That was only his second start in a handicap, so there should be plenty more to come from Tom Lacey's charge. James Owen has trained the last two winners of this contest and runs Tara Iti, a losing favourite when second at Uttoxeter a week ago, while Callin Baton Rouge is preferred to Piecederesistance of the remaining pair.

The suggestion is CALLIN BATON ROUGE, who did very well for the Pogson stable last summer, is back on a good mark now.

1st (1) (11/2 -83%)Hurricane Bay |
11/2(-83%) | (1) Hurricane Bay 11/2, Well backed when scored by 5l off 122 over 3m at Huntingdon penultimate start; pulled up in a handicap chase latest where made a noise in running; enjoys making it; not out of it down in grade Came good at Huntingdon and made a noise next time; tongue-tie could be significant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (4/7 +75%)Abingworth |
4/7(+75%) | (5) Abingworth 4/7, Travelled well when scored by a length off 107 over 2m4f at Warwick penultimate start; looked likely winner when falling in hat trick bid; trainer in form; the one to beat if stamina holds up Bang in form and has recently joined a trainer who does so well with new recruits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (14/1 -75%)Belargus |
14/1(-75%) | (4) Belargus 14/1, Probably needed race 16l third in a handicap chase at Stratford most recent run where ran well to a point; in good form prior; usually held up; may contend if fitness holds up Now back from another absence and he's not as good as he was. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (8/1 -167%)Trapista |
8/1(-167%) | (6) Trapista 8/1, Did not get a clear run beaten 2l off 104 over 2m4f at Ludlow last time behind progressive rival; won off higher mark this time last year; threat Completed a hat-trick in May of last year and staged some sort of revival at Ludlow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (15/2 -50%)Hubrisko |
15/2(-50%) | (2) Hubrisko 15/2, Comfortably held in a handicap chase over 3m2f at Plumpton last time; generally out of form for new yard; down in trip; has slipped to good mark on Irish form; not ruled out Mostly disappointing for this yard after an absence and more new headgear tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (40/1 -150%)Stormin Crossgales |
40/1(-150%) | (3) Stormin Crossgales 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase over 3m1f at Aintree latest where failed to stay; won match race here previously; enjoys making it; down in trip; others more reliable It was a good-quality handicap in which he struggled at Aintree and this is easier. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

HURRICANE BAY reportedly suffered a respiratory problem when failing to complete at Uttoxeter. Connections will be hoping the application of a tongue-tie solves that issue and Lucy Wadham's chaser gets another chance on the strength of his convincing success at Huntingdon in April. Abingworth was still in contention when unseating at Worcester, so he could feature with a clear round, while Trapista is noted too.

Abingworth is clearly a strong contender but the addition of a tongue-tie could be significant for HURRICANE BAY.

1st (5) (3/1 +0%)Gone In Sixty |
3/1(+0%) | (5) Gone In Sixty 3/1, Did not get a clear run beaten 1 1/4l off 79 at Bangor-on-Dee last time; far too keen that day; should come on for the run; major player Back from an absence when close up at Bangor and suffered some interference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/2 -13%)Another Mystery |
9/2(-13%) | (1) Another Mystery 9/2, Looked unenthusiastic beaten 8 1/2l in a handicap chase over 3m at Uttoxeter last time; blinkers first time; down in trip; in good form when last seen over hurdles but bit to find in current form Well handicapped should the new blinkers (replacing cheekpieces) have some impact. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/2 +66%)Annie Nail |
11/2(+66%) | (6) Annie Nail 11/2, Well backed when scored over fences by 11l off 74 over 2m5f here penultimate start; third beaten 25l off 81 last time where unsuited by drop in trip; well treated on chase form; every chance Perhaps dodgy form when winning over fences here; remote when third last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/4 +36%)Mersey Street |
9/4(+36%) | (2) Mersey Street 9/4, Back to form fourth beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap hurdle over 3m2f at Fontwell latest; cheekpieces first time; down in trip; course winner; dangerous if allowed to dictate Course winner; 3m2f looked too far last time; cheekpieces are added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (11/1 +21%)Bahtiyar |
11/1(+21%) | (4) Bahtiyar 11/1, Raced freely and did too much too soon; fourth beaten 10l in a handicap hurdle over 2m5f at Ludlow latest; chance on best form but still a maiden Continues to fall in the weights but easy to have reservations about this 24-race maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (13/2 -225%)Runaway Train |
13/2(-225%) | (3) Runaway Train 13/2, Appeared not to stay well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Southwell latest; should come on for the run; generally out of form; cheekpieces first time; risky He was tailed off when raised to 2m4f at Southwell (good) only recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (25/1 +50%)Fast Deal |
25/1(+50%) | (7) Fast Deal 25/1, Looked to want further well beaten in a handicap chase over 2m1f at Market Rasen latest; generally out of form; longer trip a plus; bit to find on hurdles return Only one win in 59 starts and that was over fences at huge odds in April last year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A winner here in January, MERSEY STREET was still in contention at the last over a longer distance at Fontwell last time, but ran out of steam in the closing stages. That was a marked improvement on his recent efforts and Fern O'Brien, who rode the winner of this contest in 2023, takes a valuable 5lb off his back. Bangor third Gone In Sixty could make his presence felt once again, while Another Mystery drops in trip with a shout.

Although still a maiden, GONE IN SIXTY could easily have put that right last time at Bangor had the race panned out more favourably.
Ths is the racecard key.
