Mystic Man

0.91/1(-10%)
(3) Mystic Man 0.91/1, Point winner who proved a different proposition switched to fences when landing 11-runner handicap chase at Southwell 3 weeks ago. 4 lb rise looks lenient and test of speed over this trip will suit.
Won on chase debut at Southwell three weeks ago and could have more to offer over fences.

(2) Rebel Leader 5.5/1, Showed improved form to get off the mark at Perth and followed up off 4 lb higher at Stratford in 2021. Failed to complete in 2 of 3 starts since and off a year, so well-being an unknown.
Very lightly raced and has failed to shine since double in autumn 2021; watch the betting.

Kym Eyre

1.62/1(+14%)
(1) Kym Eyre 1.62/1, Didn't show much over hurdles but she's a former point winner and has improved over fences, relishing 27.5f when off the mark under Rules at Stratford last month. Messy race could be an issue back in trip.
Responded to pressure to win at Stratford and a 6lb rise may not stop her.
LTO Selection:

14:30 Fakenham Handicap Chase (Class 5) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MYSTIC MAN seemed to relish a switch to the bigger obstacles when scoring by a length and a quarter at Southwell over an extended 2m4f last month, and a 4lb raised mark may not be enough to stop him now up in trip. Kym Eyre rates his biggest danger, but she does have to shoulder top weight following a comfortable success at Stratford in April. Rebel Leader returns from a year on the sidelines.

MYSTIC MAN left his hurdles form behind when cashing in on a lowly mark at Southwell 3 weeks ago, and in a race that may get tactical, he can use his relative turn of foot to good effect upped in trip. Kym Eyre looks more of a stayer but her limit hasn't been reached over fences and she's the obvious threat.

The lightly raced 6yo MYSTIC MAN is taken to make it 2-2 over fences having won on his chase debut at Southwell three weeks ago.

(4) Never No Trouble 5/1, Gained reward for her consistency when winning 8-runner maiden at Hereford (2m, good) in February. Let down by jumping next time but quickly back to form when third at Ludlow (21.2f) 39 days ago, headed near finish. Should give it another good go.

Enthused

1.88/1(-15%)
(1) Enthused 1.88/1, Fairly useful Flat winner who was suited by the emphasis on speed over 19.6f when off the mark over hurdles at Huntingdon 12 days ago. That race already starting to work out so 4 lb rise very fair.

LTO Selection:

15:00 Fakenham Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

This represents a good opportunity for NEVER NO TROUBLE to bounce back to winning form and she can build on a close-up Ludlow third off 2lb higher. A slight drop in trip looks set to suit Donald McCain's four-year-old, given she was only headed in the dying strides. Enthused will be dangerous following a staying-on success over an extended 2m3f at Huntingdon. Pollypockett returned with a pleasing third at Market Rasen and can take a step forward.

ENTHUSED is well weighted in this sphere based on his Flat form and with his recent Huntingdon win already working out his follow-up claims are pretty obvious. Never No Trouble seems sure to give it another good go and is feared most.

Bumper winner POLLYPOCKETT made an encouraging return from an absence at Market Rasen and earns the vote ahead of Never No Trouble.

Order Of St John

LTO Selection:

15:30 Fakenham Handicap Chase (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CLOUDY WEDNESDAY looks the pick of these and Caroline Fryer's seven-year-old is taken to follow up his recent success over 2m4f at Huntingdon. He has gone up 2lb for a length-and-a-half win, which may not be enough to hold him back, especially given how well he battled at the finish. Go Fox can benefit from a drop in trip having weakened over an extended 2m4f at Southwell, while Arbennig completes the shortlist.

ARBENNIG ran well on last month's reappearance and is taken to add to his C&D success at a similar time last year. The reappearing Uncle O is capable when fresh and has Harry Cobden doing the steering so he's second choice ahead of Cloudy Wednesday, who still looks feasibly treated after just a 2 lb nudge for his recent 2½m Huntingdon success but does need to show he's as effective at this shorter trip.

This could go to UNCLE O, who has had wind surgery since his last run last December and goes well fresh. Arbennig is feared most.

(4) Thorpeness 8.5/1, Well beaten in 2 bumpers but showed a good deal more on recent Huntingdon hurdle debut with a tongue strap added, finishing third of 9. In top hands so could easily build on that.
Promising 3rd on hurdle debut at Huntingdon and in excellent hands to continue to progress.

Sir Canford

(2) Sir Canford 3.5/1, Fair Flat winner for Ali Stronge in 2022. Also placed over hurdles for that stable. Not been seen for over 20 months but new yard more than capable of readying one and has a good record in this race.
Trainer has won three of the last six runnings but he has a very hefty absence to defy.

Book Of Secrets

7/1(-56%)
(1) Book Of Secrets 7/1, Fair on the Flat and similar standard over hurdles. Left Dan Skelton after finishing a creditable second in a 2m Stratford seller last month.
Stable debut; showed enough for Dan Skelton to suggest he can be a force in this line-up.
LTO Selection:

16:00 Fakenham Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SIR CANFORD comes with risks attached on this belated reappearance, but the seven-year-old is now under the tutelage of Dr Richard Newland and he would take some stopping if anywhere near his best. State Of Bliss looked too keen to see out 2m4f here last month and should appreciate this drop in distance. He is feared most, ahead of Book of Secrets, who could prove dangerous if gaining an uncontested lead on his first start for a new stable.

STATE OF BLISS had a possible excuse when a well-held second here last time and gets another chance to confirm the promise of his previous Kempton third in a race which has worked out. Dr Richard Newland has won this race 3 times since 2016 so it may be that the chief threat comes from the returning Sir Canford.

This could be a good opportunity for talented Flat performer STATE OF BLISS to get off the mark over hurdles. Thorpeness is feared.

(2) Quoi De Neuf 1.38/1, Resumed winning ways with plenty in hand back over hurdles at Ludlow in February. Solid second back over fences at same track since and best not to draw too much into a lesser run over hurdles last time. Should be thereabouts.

Sopran Thor

6.5/1(+70%)
(3) Sopran Thor 6.5/1, Scored over C&D in April but has reverted to type since, again below form having made mistakes at Plumpton last time. Return to this track is in his favour.
Three-time chase winner but hasn't shone the last twice.
LTO Selection:

16:30 Fakenham Handicap Chase (Class 3) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

NAME IN LIGHTS wasn't disgraced when placing third at Kempton last month and a further 2lb drop may be enough to help him back into the winner's enclosure. Hatcher has shaped as if this longer trip could be in his favour and Dan Skelton's veteran isn't taken lightly. Quoi De Neuf returns to chasing after a modest fourth over hurdles at Uttoxeter and also enters calculations.

PAWPAW had something to spare when scoring at Fontwell last month and is a straightforward selection to follow up. Quoi de Neuf is a danger returning to chasing and Name In Lights has the scope to do better.

The Dan Skelton-trained HATCHER is taken to capitalise on the drop back down in trip. Quoi De Neuf is a likely danger.

(3) Lipa K 1.38/1, Chasing a hat-trick after victories at Warwick (16f) and Ludlow (15.8f) in recent months. Just 3 lb higher than for latest success and holds leading claims.

LTO Selection:

17:00 Fakenham Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Sisterandbrother has taken well to this new discipline and he merits respect following his recent Huntingdon victory, while Nevendon, who won a seller at Stratford two weeks ago, is also of interest. However, successful on two of his three starts in handicaps, LIPA K is fancied to continue his ascendency and shrug off a 3lb rise to land the hat-trick. Glimpse Of Gold likes it around here and is no back number from a sliding handicap mark.

LIPA K is going the right way and still looks fairly treated on the back of last month's Ludlow victory. He can score again. Too Friendly is feared most in a tricky-looking contest.

The unexposed 5yo LIPA K (nap) has won at Warwick and Ludlow the last twice and can complete the hat-trick. Nevendon is a danger.

LTO Selection:

17:30 Fakenham Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Boleyn Boy finished a good second at Chepstow and would hold every chance if taking another step forward. For Gina's recent performances would suggest she can be involved at the business end, while If Karl's Berg Did shouldn't be ruled out from 3lb below his recent Uttoxeter third. A chance, however, is taken on BLAZING HARTINGO. He didn't show much across his three qualifying runs, but visored ahead of this handicap bow, it would be no surprise were he to show more.

This can go to BLAZING HARTINGO, who looks nicely treated on his handicap bow and remains open to improvement. For Gina may provide the chief threat.

The unexposed mare FOR GINA ran well for a long way over 3m1f at Warwick on last month's handicap debut and can post a first win.
