1st (3) (11/4 -22%)Belle Montrose |
11/4(-22%) | (3) Belle Montrose 11/4, Won by a neck off 84 at Uttoxeter on her penultimate start; travelled well but found little up in trip on her hurdles return and may have found that race coming a bit soon when fourth, beaten 37l off 85 last time; effective at 2m on good ground. Uttoxeter chase winner last month (2m, good) when claimer ridden; forget latest run.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/4 -50%)Settle Down Jill |
5/4(-50%) | (1) Settle Down Jill 5/4, Improved when stepped up in trip for a cosy win in a novice hurdle at Chepstow over 2m3f by 3l last time; effective between 2m and 2½m on good ground; point winner who has been highly tried under rules and is progressing. 2m4f hurdle winner last weekend; been found a very realistic opportunity on chase debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (7/4 +50%)No No Fizz |
7/4(+50%) | (2) No No Fizz 7/4, Had every chance and ran to form when fourth, beaten 8l, in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Musselburgh last time; a value selection based on the overall balance of form. Track fine and has chasers in the pedigree, but her absence since March is not a plus.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Turned out again quickly after getting off the mark with a comfortable success over further at Chepstow on Sunday, SETTLE DOWN JILL should have no issue with dropping back in trip on her chase debut. A former point-to-point winner, Dan Skelton's mare may have too much for the more experienced Belle Montrose, who is best judged on her penultimate victory at Uttoxeter off 4lb lower. Another one making her chasing bow after a relatively successful season over hurdles last year, No No Fizz cannot be ruled out either.

If over recent exertions, the down in trip SETTLE DOWN JILL can be taken to make all on chasing debut at Belle Montrose's expense.

1st (2) (13/8 +19%)At Mangan Bridge |
13/8(+19%) | (2) At Mangan Bridge 13/8, Keen but returned to form after a break and wind operation under a positive ride when winning a novice hurdle at Southwell by 2 1/4l last time; second run since the wind op; effective over 2 1/2m and may stay 3m in time; more to come. Made all in a Southwell novice latest without having to improve; opening mark is no gift.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 -35%)Clean Getaway |
9/2(-35%) | (3) Clean Getaway 9/2, Keen and ran to form on a quick reappearance when beaten a length off 90 over 2m1f at Sedgefield last time; suited by 2m on good ground and goes well at Sedgefield. Temporarily back below his last winning mark despite recent return to form; interesting.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (10/11 +24%)Back In The Bay |
10/11(+24%) | (1) Back In The Bay 10/11, Quickened well and showed determination when improving down in trip under a positive ride to win a handicap by 8l off a mark of 101 over 2m3f at Stratford last time; returns from a short break and looks progressive. C&D maiden scorer; player if the 7lb rise for July win doesn't prove prohibitive.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A winner over C&D in May, BACK IN THE BAY should relish a return to this track and she arrives in top form after an easy success at Stratford when last seen in July. A 7lb rise for that performance could prove lenient, and At Mangan Bridge looks best placed to chase her home having scored on his first start after wind surgery at Southwell earlier in the month. Runner-up over shorter at Sedgefield most recently, Clean Getaway is open to improvement going back up in trip.

Back below a winning mark and unlikely to join in any pace battle, CLEAN GETAWAY could yet surprise the pair of last-time winners.

1st (1) (3/1 +45%)Squeezebox |
3/1(+45%) | (1) Squeezebox 3/1, Bit too keen in front but ran to form when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Warwick last time. Trainer in form and tongue-tied for the first time; effective at 2m with more to come judged on Flat form. All-the-way hurdling debut winner; 2l ahead of Currumbin latest; live chance if settling.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/1 +30%)Kelijoe |
7/1(+30%) | (3) Kelijoe 7/1, Too free in front after a break and stopped quickly when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter latest. Effective at 2m on soft or good ground; more to come over hurdles judged on French bumper form. Odds-on C&D second in April; good ground perhaps not ideal then or on sole run since.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (9/1 +0%)Solanna |
9/1(+0%) | (6) Solanna 9/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 1/2l, in a handicap over 11f at Kempton latest. Consistent over middle distances on the Flat where a multiple winner; suited by a sound surface but stamina to prove for hurdling. Sharp tracks should suit. Consistent Class 5-6 handicapper at 1m2f-1m4f; no jumping prowess in immediate pedigree.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (1/1 +50%)Sixpack |
1/1(+50%) | (5) Sixpack 1/1, Yard won this last year. Up in trip and failed to get home when beaten 7 1/2l in a handicap at Ripon last time. Stays 14f on the Flat where a multiple winner; stamina to prove at 2m but yard does well with similar types over hurdles. Below par on all bar one 2025 Flat run, albeit with some excuses; realistic hurdling bow.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (13/2 +19%)Currumbin |
13/2(+19%) | (2) Currumbin 13/2, Still green and made mistakes but ran to form when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Warwick last time. Effective at 2m on good ground; debut win form modest but may have more to offer judged on Flat exploits. 2l and a place behind Squeezebox at Warwick latest; this may not be as strong a contest.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (28/1 -27%)Portoro |
28/1(-27%) | (4) Portoro 28/1, Had every chance and ran to form when 6l third in a 7f handicap at Leicester on his latest Flat run. Consistent over 6-7f where in good form but stamina to prove for hurdling. Sibling to dual Perth Gold Cup scorer Statuario, but mostly operating over 6f-7f of late.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Trainer James Owen has excelled at making Flat recruits into useful hurdlers in recent years and SIXPACK looks another intriguing project for the Newmarket-based handler. The son of Sea The Moon is taken to strike on debut at the main expense of Squeezebox, who may have disappointed last time but showed up well when scoring on his hurdles bow at Market Rasen. Similar comments apply to Currumbin, who is better than what he showed most recently at Warwick.

Assuming he doesn't race too freely, SQUEEZEBOX may be able to deny hurdling debutant Sixpack, a bit below par on the Flat of late.

1st (4) (4/1 -100%)Breezethroughlife |
4/1(-100%) | (4) Breezethroughlife 4/1, Made a promising hurdle debut when third, beaten 7l, in a maiden hurdle over 2m1f at Killarney; effective over 2m and likely to stay further, having shown ability on his only start in Ireland. Encouraging debut third at Killarney in May; he can't be ruled out for his new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (2/1 +56%)Order Of Justice |
2/1(+56%) | (5) Order Of Justice 2/1, Improved to win a maiden at Kirkistown over 3m by a length last time; wears a hood for the first time and returns from a long break; a 3m point winner who should progress under rules with 2m4f a fair starting point. Order Of St George mare; winning Irish pointer needs considering on stable/hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/5 +68%)Blue Universe |
4/5(+68%) | (1) Blue Universe 4/5, Ran to form when finishing second, beaten a length, in a maiden hurdle at Worcester last time; effective from 2m to 2½m, handles decent ground, and a sharper track over 2½m may suit. Fair 1m2f Flat scorer; good runner-up in 2m4f Worcester novice three weeks ago; big shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (66/1 +18%)Snitterfield |
66/1(+18%) | (2) Snitterfield 66/1, Unseated rider in a handicap hurdle at Sedgefield last time and remains out of form. Well held when unseating rider 2 out at Sedgefield 17 days ago; others are much preferred. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Point-to-point winner Order Of Justice needs to be monitored in the betting market on her debut under Rules, but the vote goes to BLUE UNIVERSE. Michael Attwater's charge only found one too good over this trip at Worcester last month and that looks the best recent form on offer. The reapplication of cheekpieces (first time in this sphere) might just bring out the improvement required to strike. Breezethroughlife also has a chance.

This can go the way of Michael Attwater's BLUE UNIVERSE, who has fair winning Flat form and was caught only late at Worcester last time

1st (3) (7/1 +22%)Enjoy D'allen |
7/1(+22%) | (3) Enjoy D'allen 7/1, Needed the run when fourth, beaten 12l, in a handicap hurdle over 3m2f at Newton Abbot last time; an out-of-form veteran who may need more. Light of other days and yet to revive for current connections; all headgear is off again.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/4 +32%)Shadows In The Sky |
9/4(+32%) | (1) Shadows In The Sky 9/4, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Worcester last time; likes to make the running and is effective between 2½m and 3m, though he looks on a stiff mark. Consistent before last time's struggles in a brush hurdle series final; this is easier.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (9/2 +44%)Catchim |
9/2(+44%) | (5) Catchim 9/2, Made too much use of the running and needed the outing when fourth, beaten 32l, in a handicap chase over 2m4f at Huntingdon last time; effective at around 2½m on good ground but inconsistent. Likely to step up on last week's Huntingdon return effort, for all that he's 4lb badly in.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5/2 +25%)Taxus Baccata |
5/2(+25%) | (2) Taxus Baccata 5/2, Well backed but made mistakes and was comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Huntingdon last time; could be competitive if jumping better. Forgiven C&D loss as favourite in March, but does need to find more to win in this class.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|R| (4) (9/2 -200%)Police Academy |
9/2(-200%) | (4) Police Academy 9/2, Held on gamely when improving up in trip to land a handicap by 1/2l off a mark of 104 over 3m at Uttoxeter last time; returning from a break and remains on a good hurdle mark. Unlucky to lose June's Uttoxeter win (3m); big player in easier race; shorter trip fine.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Although due to drop in the ratings shortly, and running below par on his recent comeback, CATCHIM remains 3lb lower than when runner-up at Haydock in April and could be worth chancing in a tricky handicap. Shadows In The Sky lurks on an appealing mark and finished third in a warmer event at Cartmel two starts ago, so he has to be respected. Enjoy D'allen looks best of the rest.

Unlucky to lose June's Uttoxeter win in a better Class 4, POLICE ACADEMY (nap) can gain compensation, with Catchim feared most.

1st (3) (10/3 -33%)Dartmouth Rose |
10/3(-33%) | (3) Dartmouth Rose 10/3, Keen and outpaced with too much to do behind an all-the-way winner; improved up in trip when beaten a neck off 82 over 2m7f here last time; returning from a break and can win at 3m. Neck second over 3m here (good) off 1lb lower when last seen; dangerous if fully wound up.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/3 +0%)Gone In Sixty |
10/3(+0%) | (2) Gone In Sixty 10/3, Ran to form but conceded first run at a sharp track, beaten 3l off 82 at Warwick last time; effective from 2 1/2m to 2 3/4m; on a good mark based on hurdle form and prefers sharper tracks. Just 1-31, but C&D scorer in June (good) and in form over fences lately; place claims.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (6/5 +47%)Carlton |
6/5(+47%) | (1) Carlton 6/5, Scored by 1 1/4l off 72 over 1m5f at Chelmsford on his penultimate start; ran to form appreciating the sharp track when second, beaten 2l off 93 last time; effective from 2m to 3m on a sound surface and generally consistent in both codes. Headed late on in a better stocked Huntingdon race ten days ago (2m4f, good); player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (10/1 -186%)Green Asset |
10/1(-186%) | (6) Green Asset 10/1, Below form under a positive ride when comfortably held in a 2m2f maiden hurdle at Fontwell last time; wears a tongue-tie for the first time; effective at 2m but not certain to stay further; has been in moderate form in both codes this year. Big age allowance and tongue tied on handicap debut, but must jump better than last time.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (18/1 +10%)Smart Bucks |
18/1(+10%) | (4) Smart Bucks 18/1, Needed the run when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Sedgefield last time; yet to show much over hurdles. Showed a bit more on handicap debut latest (2m4f, good), but still beaten 14l; eased 2lb.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (28/1 -40%)Jo's Rainbow |
28/1(-40%) | (5) Jo's Rainbow 28/1, Never threatened when down the field in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Sedgefield most recently; wears cheekpieces for the first time; out of form for her new yard. Below par for two stables this year, and far from unlucky despite early hampering latest.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Gone In Sixty has taken the silver medal home over fences the last twice, most recently at Warwick, and should remain competitive. Dartmouth Rose was in similar form prior to her break, filling the runner-up spot in two of her last three outings, but it may pay to side with CARLTON. James Owen's charge finished a creditable second at Huntingdon latest and goes off an unchanged rating. With a similar effort, he could be the one to beat.

So long as previous jumping issues don't resurface, the 1lb well-in Huntingon second CARLTON can account for Dartmouth Rose.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
