Innisfree Lass was a facile winner on her latest outing over 3m at Southwell last time and she makes appeal on her first chase start, but slight preference is for ALFIE'S PRINCESS. Sam Thomas' charge runs off the same mark as when second over timber at Newbury in March and on her first start over the larger obstacles, she can go one better. Smiling Getaway is next best.

ALFIE'S PRINCESS cemented the positive start she made to hurdles last season with an excellent second in a Grade 2 handicap at Newbury on her final start in March and, appealing as the type to make an even better chaser, she could be worth siding with on return. Fellow chase debutante Smiling Getaway for the red-hot Nigel Twiston-Davies stable is next best. Innisfree Lass and Moviddy are others to consider.

Top of the list is ALFIE'S PRINCESS, who was placed in a competitive Grade 2 handicap hurdle for mares at Newbury in the spring.

WICKED THOUGHTS has shown plenty of ability in his three starts under Rules to date and he can get off the mark at the first time of asking over obstacles on his seasonal reappearance. Plenty of improvement can be expected from Paul Nicholls' runner and he makes most appeal. Rosscahill appears to be an interesting recruit for the Nigel Twiston-Davies team after his point-to-point success last year and he is considered, while Neo King is fancied to follow them home.

Paul Nicholls bumper winner WICKED THOUGHTS gets the nod to make a successful start to his hurdle career, although a strong market move for Nigel Twiston-Davies Irish point winner Rosscahill would put a slightly different slant on things. Small Town Hero may prove best of the rest.

The two who stand out are WICKED THOUGHTS through his bumper form and Rosscahill on the promise of his point win.

MOVEIT LIKE MINNIE got off the mark at the first attempt over larger obstacles when scoring at Stratford last month and he can put that experience to good use. Asta La Pasta had been progressing nicely last season over hurdles before struggling to land a blow in Grade 3 company, and he makes plenty of appeal, while Ito Ditto heads the remainder.

Nigel Twiston-Davies has his string in rude health at present so his MOVEIT LIKE MINNIE is taken to follow up his stylish debut Stratford success and go 2-2 over fences. Lots of these bring potential starting out chasing, notably Asta La Pasta and Ito Ditto and they can chase home the selection in that order. Just Over Land completes the shortlist.

There are some interesting prospects in this field but MOVEIT LIKE MINNIE has already made a very good start to his chasing career.

Sam Thomas has two interesting representatives in the Dovecote winner Lump Sum and STEEL ALLY, with preference for the latter. The six-year-old posted a solid third in the Novices' Championship Final at Sandown in April and he looks just the type to keep improving. Pembroke's novice chase campaign last season didn't end up as forecast, but he shouldn't be underestimated operating off a lower mark over hurdles.

Sam Thomas holds a strong hand, with LUMP SUM and Steel Ally appealing as types who can kick on again in handicaps on the back of promising novice hurdle campaigns last season. The former gets the vote with Dylan Johnston taking 5 lb off but it will be very interesting to see how the betting splits them. Imperial Cup winner Go Dante merits respect, while Jipcot would also enter the reckoning if showing up after/instead of Chepstow on Saturday.

The pick is STEEL ALLY (nap), who ran a big race from the front when third in a very competitive novice handicap at Sandown in April.

At first glance a 10lb hike appears to be on the harsh side for I'M ON MY WAY following her narrow victory at Southwell in March but, with the second and third undefeated in three subsequent outings, Neil Mulholland's mare looks capable of following up. The selection's stablemate Abbeyhill was also on an upward trajectory last season and it will be interesting to see how the seven-year-old compares in the market. Lady Harriett and Shesupincourt are also noted.

Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and in-form Neil Mulholland could hold the key with his upwardly-mobile duo ABBEYHILL and I'm On My Way fancied to fight out the finish on their respective reappearances. Getaway With You, Gavin and Jetaway To Getaway appeal as the pick of the rest for minor honours.

It might pay to give another chance to LADY HARRIETT, who disappointed last time but is a big player if judged on her penultimate run.

JOHNNY MAC is a chaser on the upgrade having won all three starts since joining Matt Sheppard's yard. He defied a 10lb rise when beating a subsequent dual winner at Leicester in January and the nine-year-old can continue winning ways having gone well fresh in the past. Supposedtobe produced a late rally to take third at Fontwell last month and has a shout off the same mark in this lower grade, while Hokelami is worth a second glance on his reappearance.

Low-mileage 9-y-o JOHNNY MAC is 3 from 3 over fences since joining his current yard and has won on his comeback before, so gets the vote over Boston Joe, who has a good record here and can also go well fresh. Hokelami looks best of the others.

It could pay to take a chance on chasing debutant THE BIG MAN, a well-bred 5yo who didn't hang about over hurdles.

TAMARIND BAY showed enough to suggest he can win a bumper at this level when finishing runner-up at Kempton on his racecourse debut. The four-year-old has switched yards since disappointing at the same track in March and a bold bid is anticipated. Desert Halo is another likely improver based on last year's second at Ballinrobe, while Kate Of The Lodge won an Irish point-to-point in good style and debuts under Rules with a shout.

KATE OF THE LODGE opened her account with ease in a point at the second attempt and has been found a reasonable opening on Rules debut, so she's preferred to Tamarind Bay, who sets the standard. Koapey is a notable newcomer.

This looks good for TAMARIND BAY, who ran well in two much deeper races than this at Kempton for another stable last season.
Ths is the racecard key.
