1st (4) (11/1 -10%)Bradman |
11/1(-10%) | (4) Bradman 11/1, Ran about to form when fourth, beaten 9 1/2l, in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m but needs to improve to get off the mark. 0-6 over hurdles but made a pleasing return when fourth of 11 here last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (4/1 +0%)Atlantic Power |
4/1(+0%) | (6) Atlantic Power 4/1, Scored by 3/4l off a 5lb lower mark here three runs ago and ran slightly below form when upped in trip to 3m last time. Effective between 2m and 2m6f on soft and good to soft ground, and the drop back in trip should help. Stamina stretched over 3m last time; only 1lb higher than for his course win in October.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (1) (11/4 +58%)Motazzen |
11/4(+58%) | (1) Motazzen 11/4, Won this race last year but produced a poor effort without obvious reason when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Wetherby last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f on most ground except heavy and should bounce back after a short break. Course record of 112 includes a win in this race last year; in the equation back here.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (2) (15/8 -7%)Morning Mayhem |
15/8(-7%) | (2) Morning Mayhem 15/8, Enjoyed the testing ground and won going away by 7 1/2l off a 7lb lower mark in a handicap at Uttoxeter last time. Effective at 2m on heavy ground, the step up in trip may suit and he appears to be progressing well. Relished heavy ground when winning with authority at Uttoxeter; 3lb well in under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (7/2 -17%)King Of Highways |
7/2(-17%) | (3) King Of Highways 7/2, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Plumpton last time and now wears cheekpieces for the first time. Effective at 2m on good to soft ground, he returns to hurdles and is well handicapped on his best novice form. Pulled up on his latest chase start and reverts to hurdles in first-time cheekpieces.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Motazzen invariably runs well here and won this race 12 months ago, but he's off 13lb higher this year which may anchor his chances. MORNING MAYHEM was a surprise winner at Uttoxeter last week and he only has to carry a 7lb penalty now and that leaves him 3lb well in. If he can repeat that form he could win again, leaving Bradman as the pick for third spot.

This looks a tight little handicap but last year's winner MOTAZZEN is taken to return to his best now that he is back on this track.

4/7(+65%) | (2) Superstylin 4/7, Scored by 6l off a 7lb lower mark at Worcester in September; ran to form second beaten 1 1/4l off this mark last time; effective 2m, acts on S and G; in good form, player again. Scored on seasonal/stable debut at Worcester in September and placed on last three runs.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (6/1 -445%)Mcgrath From Clune |
6/1(-445%) | (4) Mcgrath From Clune 6/1, Going as well as any when coming to grief 2 out last time; effective at 2m to 2m2f, acts on S and G; unlucky latest and mark very generous if finds Irish form, big chance. Returned to form when winning at Hereford last month; second next time and unseated since.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/4 +65%)Jackeline |
9/4(+65%) | (1) Jackeline 9/4, Appeared not to stay 2m6f when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Leicester last time. Had been in good form prior and is effective from 2m to 2m4f, acting on soft (not heavy) and good ground. A consistent hurdler who can do better over fences down in trip. Made a crucial mistake four out on chase debut at Leicester; trip suits; claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Chris Gordon has a good record here and will be hoing to add to that with SUPERSTYLIN, a winner at Worcester in September and placed three times since. Up a couple of furlongs off the same mark as last time, he looks all set for another big run. Jackeline needs to brush up on her jumping to have a say here, so McGrath From Clune is the bigger danger despite unseating at Taunton last time out.

Kid gloves may be required to get the best out of SUPERSTYLIN but this is his easiest opportunity since winning in September.

1st (1) (5/6 +0%)Fortune Timmy |
5/6(+0%) | (1) Fortune Timmy 5/6, Yard has won 2 of last 8 runnings of race; improved from debut but not speed of winner down in trip 4 1/2l third in a novice hurdle at Kempton most recent run; effective 2 1/2m, acts on GS; more to come though drop back in trip may not be ideal. Made a winning start over hurdles here in October and good third at Kempton last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/2 -56%)Fashion Hunter |
7/2(-56%) | (3) Fashion Hunter 7/2, Novicey at the hurdles but shaped with promise when fourth, beaten 15l, in a maiden hurdle at Newbury. Effective around 2m and acts on soft ground. Open to marked improvement. Belied 80-1 SP when fourth of 15 on hurdling debut at Newbury; open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/4 +63%)Rathkenny |
11/4(+63%) | (5) Rathkenny 11/4, Came clear impressively to win a bumper at Uttoxeter by 8 1/2l last time. A maiden point winner who stays from 2m to 3m and acts on heavy and yielding ground. A big, scopey, athletic type with plenty of potential for the future. Irish point winner who won bumper on rules debut last month; hurdles debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (33/1 +78%)Midsummer Dream |
33/1(+78%) | (4) Midsummer Dream 33/1, Showed little when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Leicester last time. Yet to produce any reliable form in bumpers or over hurdles. Down the field in two bumpers late last year and finished last on hurdles debut recently.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Chris Gordon and the Moore family have won five of the last seven renewals of this contest and they may have it between them once more. FORTUNE TIMMY took a maiden hurdle here in October and ran well enough when third at Kempton to be the pick. Fashion Hunter was a huge price when fourth at Newbury first time out, suggesting he can only improve for the experience, and he may get the better of bumper winner Rathkenny in the race for second.

Chris Gordon's FORTUNE TIMMY looks a useful prospect and should find this easier than the Kempton race in which he finished third.

1st (1) (3/1 +25%)Kruger Park |
3/1(+25%) | (1) Kruger Park 3/1, Outpaced but returned to form back on easy ground when fourth, beaten 5l, in a handicap hurdle at Newbury last time; effective from 2½m to 3m and acts with cut, though not one to rely on building on that revival. Only 1-13 over hurdles but he rediscovered some form when beaten under 5l at Newbury. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (4/1 +11%)Jalisco Star |
4/1(+11%) | (3) Jalisco Star 4/1, Did it cosily when landing a handicap by 9½l off a 7lb lower mark at Uttoxeter last time; the further the better and acts on any going; a progressive hurdler who remains fairly treated. She won easily back over hurdles in a small field at Uttoxeter; now 7lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (5/2 -25%)Malago Rose |
5/2(-25%) | (6) Malago Rose 5/2, Ran to the balance of her form when third, beaten 7l, in a handicap hurdle at Lingfield most recently; visor on for the first time; effective around 3m and prefers some give in the ground, with a fair mark. In form; perhaps has her share of weight but the new visor might give her a lift. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (4/1 +64%)Dwight K Schrute |
4/1(+64%) | (2) Dwight K Schrute 4/1, Fell in a handicap chase at Ffos Las last time but had been largely in good form over hurdles before that; effective between 2m3f and 2m7f, acts on good to soft and good ground, and looks the type to make a better chaser though his hurdle mark remains competitive. Won his maiden hurdle here; fell on chase debut latest; wouldn't be exposed just yet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/1 -260%)Blade Runner |
9/1(-260%) | (5) Blade Runner 9/1, Erratic over fences when last seen in May 2024; has a fair mark but must prove he has retained his ability, with fitness a significant doubt. Five chase wins but now returns to hurdling (0-6) after a long absence; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (10/1 +29%)Striking A Pose |
10/1(+29%) | (4) Striking A Pose 10/1, Raced lazily and stopped quickly in a handicap chase at Hereford last time but ran to form over hurdles on his previous start; effective from 2½m to 3m and acts on any ground; essentially consistent with a mark that looks about right. Pulled up over fences last time but five of six wins have been over hurdles; inconsistent. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

It is hard to get away from JALISCO STAR, who thumped her rivals at Uttoxeter to record a fourth hurdling success. A 7lb rise makes things tougher for the mare but Sean O'Connor's 7lb claim will be a big help, and each of her rivals have a bit to prove. Malago Rose has let down favourite backers on each of her last two starts but cannot be ruled out, and neither can Kruger Park, who ought to benefit from a drop in class.

A chance is taken on KRUGER PARK whose return to form at Newbury came in a higher grade.

1st (2) (5/6 +0%)Grand Conqueror |
5/6(+0%) | (2) Grand Conqueror 5/6, Improved down in grade and up in trip on handicap debut scoring by 1 1/2l off a 7lb lower mark at Plumpton last time; effective 2 1/2m, acts on GS; likely bit more to come. Has evidently found his level after a successful handicap debut (2m4f); penalised. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (6/1 -140%)Risk It All |
6/1(-140%) | (1) Risk It All 6/1, Had lost form and needed the run after a wind operation when 24l third in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster last time; effective over 2m and acts on good to soft; well treated on debut form but still has to prove retained ability. Initial promise; beaten 17l and 24l in two handicaps but it's still early days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (3/1 +33%)Ami Bondhu |
3/1(+33%) | (3) Ami Bondhu 3/1, Needed run down the field in a handicap hurdle at Stratford most recent start; off another short-break here; effective 2m to 2 1/2m, acts on S, GS; in good form until reappearance but bit to prove now. Quiet on return but placed in three consecutive handicaps last winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6/1 +50%)No Mean Feat |
6/1(+50%) | (4) No Mean Feat 6/1, Finished 14l third in a handicap hurdle here on his latest run back in September 2024; effective from 2m to 2m3f and acts on heavy and good; a consistent type but returns from a long break and not on the most favourable mark. Competitive form off this mark over hurdles but has been absent a long time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GRAND CONQUEROR didn't show much in novice/maiden events, but it was a different story when sent handicapping for the first time at Plumpton. Neil Mulholland's charge must shoulder a penalty for that cosy success and a drop in trip might not play to his strengths, but each of these rivals have questions to answer too. Risk It All struggled at Doncaster but could show more on his second start after wind surgery, whilst No Mean Feat is taken to come home in front of Ami Bondhu.

Despite the penalty and today's shorter trip, GRAND CONQUEROR (nap) is taken to follow up his successful handicap debut at Plumpton.

1st (4) (11/2 -65%)Esperti |
11/2(-65%) | (4) Esperti 11/2, Ran to form under a well-timed ride to land a Ffos Las handicap by 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark last time. Usually held up; effective at 3m and handles any ground. Back in form and remains well treated on past efforts, so could follow up. Both wins over fences have been over 3m at Ffos Las, latest on soft last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3/1 +25%)Record High |
3/1(+25%) | (1) Record High 3/1, Ran poorly when finishing down the field in a handicap chase here last time, but produced a good effort before that. Stays 3m2f and handles testing ground; inconsistent but well handicapped if on a going day. C&D winner; never competitive latest but now back at a more realistic level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (2/1 +11%)Minella Kaiser |
2/1(+11%) | (3) Minella Kaiser 2/1, Produced his best run so far when third, beaten 18l, in a Plumpton handicap hurdle last time. Showing progress over hurdles and could have more to offer when sent chasing. Third on his handicap debut over hurdles at Plumpton last month; chase debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (9/2 +36%)Ronnies Reflection |
9/2(+36%) | (5) Ronnies Reflection 9/2, Made plenty of use of and didn't quite see it out when beaten 8 1/2l in a Leicester handicap chase last time. Effective at 2 3/4m but not proven at 3m; goes well with some cut; in form and on a fair mark. Ran well here when dead-heating for second place last month; not out of this.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (13/2 -44%)Midnight Gold |
13/2(-44%) | (2) Midnight Gold 13/2, Outpaced and never threatened when fourth, beaten 13l, in a Market Rasen handicap chase last time. Wears a visor for the first time; effective from 2½m to 3m. Unexposed over fences but needs to find more. Didn't shine in her three starts over fences in October/November; hard to fancy.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (14/1 -27%)Dysania |
14/1(-27%) | (6) Dysania 14/1, Taken on up front and helped set it up for a closer when fourth, beaten 29l, in a Ffos Las handicap chase last time. Effective at 3m but unreliable overall. 1-29 and beaten 29l by Esperti at Ffos Las last month.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Esperti dug deep when regaining the winning thread at Ffos Las and a 4lb higher mark shouldn't prevent another bold showing. However, it could be worth taking a chance on chase debutant MINELLA KAISER, who may have needed his third-placed handicap bow at Plumpton last month. Midnight Gold's mark continues to fall and she could also have a say in a first-time visor.

Chasing newcomer Minella Kaiser is feared most but preference is for RECORD HIGH to enhance his decent course record.

1st (2) (11/4 +21%)Half Hoping |
11/4(+21%) | (2) Half Hoping 11/4, Produced a good staying-type effort on debut when runner-up, beaten a nose, in a Chepstow bumper on his only start. Stays 2m, may appreciate further, acts on soft; encouraging first run and testing conditions would help. Only narrowly failed at Chepstow (soft) and the winner was well touted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/10 -79%)Double The Dance |
11/10(-79%) | (1) Double The Dance 11/10, Ran a good race when second, beaten 1 1/4l by a potentially very good horse in a hot Ascot bumper on debut under rules. Stays 2m, acts on good ground; that was a very useful start and he drops in class here. Irish point winner; clear at one point in an Ascot bumper before finishing second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (28/1 +0%)West Along |
28/1(+0%) | (6) West Along 28/1, Finished third, beaten 5l, in a maiden point at Necarne. Open to improvement and the market will provide the best guide to his chance. Bought for £30,000 after showing ability in Irish points, beaten 5l in the latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 +47%)Lancelot Vivo |
4/1(+47%) | (3) Lancelot Vivo 4/1, Made plenty of use of and tired late when fourth, beaten 11l, in a bumper here on debut. Returns from a short break and should build on that creditable first run. Beaten 11l but ran well for a long way here two months ago (favourite). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (15/2 -15%)Style De Folie |
15/2(-15%) | (5) Style De Folie 15/2, £100,000 Vol De Nuit gelding related to several winners over hurdles and fences in France. Has had a wind operation and wears a tongue-tie on debut; market should guide. £100,000 3yo; seventh foal; brother to 10.5f Flat (RPR 86)/2m hurdle winner Style De Vole. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (50/1 -52%)Lancier Des Obeaux |
50/1(-52%) | (4) Lancier Des Obeaux 50/1, Clovis Du Berlais gelding out of a half-sister to the smart staying chaser Label Des Obeau. The market will be the best guide to his chance. Dam half-sister to three successful jumpers; watching brief is probably best. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

DOUBLE THE DANCE should have learned plenty from finishing second on his Rules bow at Ascot and holds leading claims. The four-year-old boasts a 3m win between the flags and this extended 2m1f could eke out some improvement. Half Hoping did little wrong when narrowly denied on his bumper debut at Chepstow and another good account is forecast, while market support for newcomer Style De Folie would be interesting.

The form of his second at Ascot has taken some knocks but it was still a fine run from DOUBLE THE DANCE who could settle better here.
Ths is the racecard key.
