NIGHT MOON is very interesting on his first outing for Willie Mullins. He cost 100,000gns at the sales back in October 2023 after a very impressive win in a Listowel handicap the previous month. The German-bred has obviously had a long spell on the sidelines since, but fitness is rarely an issue coming from Closutton and he could be a nice addition to the jumping ranks. Stede Bonnet has won two bumpers, including a decent event at Bellewstown last month. He looks an obvious contender on his jumping debut. Ebony King appeared a nice sort when winning a bumper at Tipperary and is another for the shortlist.

Preference is for one with some jumping experience and HARRY'S LEGACY ran well in a big-field Flat handicap here on Wednesday.

A LAW OF HER OWN looks on a nice mark back over hurdles. The Lawman mare won at this meeting a couple of years ago off the same figure of 116 and reverts to the smaller obstacles now having achieved a 9lb higher mark over fences. Last Kingdom was turned over at a short price at Ballinrobe, but the four-year-old still looks capable off this kind of mark and has to be respected. Last year's winner Volantis has only had two outings since and should improve for a recent spin on the Flat at Roscommon. He's another for the shortlist.

METAMORPHEUS is 7lb lower than when fifth in this last year, Danny Mullins is up and he shaped nicely over C&D earlier this week

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

There looks to be a big pot in CHART TOPPER. The Walk In The Park gelding ran really well in a competitive event at Punchestown when last seen, having been well supported from big prices. He got shuffled back to the rear before the third-last so did well to come wide and finish off strongly to take sixth. He actually got raised 1lb for that effort, but looks capable of better. Paul Townend sides with Maughreen, who didn't quite live up to her early promise last season but a mark of 122 looks attractive enough. Teed Up is a standing dish around here, although he looked to have a tough enough race when winning on Wednesday.

A chance is taken on WATCH THE WEATHER. He's rated 11lb higher over fences and he was fourth in this in 2023 off 8lb higher

Willie Mullins certainly knows what it takes to win this race and it would be no surprise if SOME PRETENDER made a successful debut. The Great Pretender mare cost 28,000 euros as a store. She is a half-sister to seven-time winner Mortlach and their dam was Grade 3-placed over fences. Emmet Mullins is represented by Barra Rua and she may prove the pick of those with form. She didn't run too badly, despite being beaten favourite, when fourth to easy winner Master Sydney at Roscommon. Another newcomer to note is the Gordon Elliott-trained Clarnagh Maid.

Willie Mullins has won four of the last five renewals of this race so it might pay to side with his nicely-bred newcomer SOME PRETENDER

Aidan O'Brien and Wayne Lordan teamed up for a short-priced juvenile winner with Constitution River on Monday and may repeat the trick with ACTION, who also comes here off the back of a promising debut. The half-brother to Lambourn put in some good work at the finish when third to odds-on stablemate New Zealand over 7f at the Curragh and should appreciate this step up in trip. O'Brien also runs Christmas Day, who cost 450,000gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to Missed The Cut, a multiple Grade 3 winner in the States. Spectical, a half-brother to Group 1-winning juvenile Lumiere, fetched 450,000 euro at the Goffs Orby Sale and is another newcomer to consider.

A good third behind stablemates on debut, the well-bred ACTION looks to have a standout chance here

LITTLE MISS P has shown promise in four outings this year, including when third to Dancing Teapot over a mile at Gowran. The Willie McCreery-trained filly appeared to find 1m3f too far at Killarney last time and may now have most to fear from Stay In The Game. The Too Darn Hot gelding displayed ability for John and Sean Quinn and was snapped up by current connections for 26,000gns last month. Spanish Princess ran a cracker on debut to get within a neck of the odds-on Shania at Killarney while Moon Reign, who cost 210,000gns as a foal and is a half-brother to three winners, is a newcomer to note along with Smithfield and Zediani.

There was a lot to like about the debut of SPANISH PRINCESS when just denied by a neck and she can improve on that

STORM AVERTED showed a liking for this venue when runner-up over C&D last autumn and again shaped well when reappearing after a three-month break here earlier this week. The Mick Mulvany-trained filly had Convincing a neck back in fifth, with Comfort Line and Loingseoir also behind, when beaten less than a length over an extended mile. Reidh won twice last summer, including over C&D, and indicated a return to form on his latest start at Catterick. Dragon Of Malta has won twice over C&D and caught the eye at Limerick last time, while Zaraahmando is on a hat-trick after wins over this trip at Limerick and Fairyhouse.

Given his mark is 9lb below his C&D win last year, it is REIDH (nap) who appeals the most

ORIOLE beat Alpha Capture by two lengths in this race 12 months ago and the pair may fight it out again. The selection has joined Mark Fahey from Natalia Lupini this season and wasn't helped by a slow start before staying on into third at Tramore last time. Alpha Capture steps back up to this trip after catching the eye over shorter distances, including here on Tuesday. Thatwilldoso probably put up a career best when finishing strongly to win over an extended 1m2f at Roscommon and now tackles this distance for the first time. Others to consider include First Ascent, Luker's Tipple and Pillar Of Hope.

The key race could be last year's renewal in which ORIOLE kept Alpha Capture at bay and she's weighted to repeat the dose.
Ths is the racecard key.
