The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Having offered plenty to work with on his second-placed debut at Pontefract last month, BIG FUN could put that experience to good use. The third and fourth have subsequently run well in defeat, so Kevin Ryan's gelding should take all the beating. Vincenzo Peruggia fetched 550,000gns in the October Book 1 sale and he must be monitored in the betting. The Lope De Vega newcomer is feared most, ahead of Masai Angel.

Kevin Ryan's BIG FUN made a very promising debut at Pontefract last month and might put his experience to good use here.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Having regained the winning thread at Windsor 22 days ago, Far Above The Law is likely to give another bold bid. However, an 8lb hike in the ratings demands another career-best performance from the three-year-old and fellow last-time-out winner LORD ROXBY may prove to be better treated. Nigel Tinkler's charge justified strong support in the market to land a 14-runner sprint over C&D in late May and a 6lb higher mark looks workable. U Sure Do and Tarlac are also noted.

Having recorded a solid success here last month, LORD ROXBY (nap) is preferred. Glorious Kitty is second pick.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (50/1 -25%)Tafsir |
50/1(-25%) | (10) Tafsir 50/1, Four-time course winner; raced freely well beaten in a handicap here latest; top course trainer; usually held up; needs to improve but dropping in the weights to last winning mark Did well here last term, not this season; at least she's now back to her last winning mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

KING'S SCHOLAR continued his progression when completing a double over track and trip last time out. Although a 5lb higher mark demands more, Ed Walker's charge looks capable of better and a hat-trick may be in the offing. Savrola finished a close-up second behind the selection and a 3lb nudge up in the ratings is likely to see him in the mix once more, while an improved bid from the down-in-class Steel Tiger wouldn't surprise either.

Recent C&D winner KING'S SCHOLAR can score again, with the reappearing Minstrel Knight feared most.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

BERGERAC has been running well in defeat of late and his most recent second, off this mark, at York a couple of weeks ago suggests that he can be successful in a race of this nature. Blue Day could prove to be the main threat following his second at Haydock last time, while Oriental Prince and Spring Is Sprung are others to consider.

Southern raider BLUE DAY remains unexposed over this distance and is taken to defy top weight. Marching Mac is second pick.

ZAPPHIRE returned to winning ways over a mile at Carlisle a month ago and that form was boosted when the third won earlier in the week. As a result, the five-year-old merits plenty of respect off just 4lb higher here. Epidavros was third over C&D 10 days ago and is likely to be in the mix once again, while the unexposed Surprised completes the shortlist.

Off an attractive mark sent up to Scotland, ROARIN' SUCCESS could well end her losing spell. Epidavros is second choice.

HOUR BY HOUR returns to the fray having scored three times last season, including a double at this venue. Further progress is anticipated from Iain Jardine's sprinter this year and he gets a speculative vote in an open contest. Rock Opera finished a creditable third at York last time, when finishing just in front of Hectic, and the latter has subsequently boosted that form by winning at Ripon.

Preference is for ROCK MELODY, who is well equipped for this assignment and looks ready to hit top form. Abduction is second pick.

WHATHAPPENSINVEGAS makes plenty of appeal with a couple of solid placed efforts under his belt. He finished third in a tougher handicap here last month and Warren Fentiman takes a valuable 3lb off his back today. The veteran Glasses Up arrives in fine fettle, having landed a hat-trick at Ayr, and he looks a bigger threat than the selection's stablemate and recent Chepstow winner Gallant Lion.

The well-handicapped CLANSMAN may well be the way to turn if the ground is soft or heavy. Gallant Lion is feared most.
Ths is the racecard key.
