Had a wind op since last seen; dangerous mark and he's one to take seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/4 +73%)Masterclass |
11/4(+73%) | (4) Masterclass 11/4, Game when scoring by 1/2l off 52 at Nottingham in May; ran roughly to form when seventh, beaten 2l off 54 last time; effective over 5-6f on a sound surface; probably not the force of old. 5f win at Nottingham in May; has run some fair races since and likely to do so again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/1 -100%)Happier |
5/1(-100%) | (3) Happier 5/1, Quickened clear comfortably to land a handicap by 3l off 54 at Catterick last time; effective over 5-6f; remains well treated on best form but inconsistent. Ran away with a lesser 5f handicap at Catterick last week; respected under a penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (2/1 +50%)Fortunate Star |
2/1(+50%) | (1) Fortunate Star 2/1, Scored by 3l off 57 at Haydock three starts ago; below form up in grade when 11th, beaten 7 1/4l off 63 last time; effective over 5-6f; possibly high enough in the weights. In good form before struggling in Class 4 at York last time; this is much more manageable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/1 -22%)Sixcor |
11/1(-22%) | (6) Sixcor 11/1, Well backed when scoring by 1/2l off 46 here three starts ago; back to form down in trip when third, beaten 3l off 51 last time; generally consistent veteran over 5-6f, probably best at the minimum trip. C&D win last month; behind stablemate Hard Nut latest but can reverse those placings here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (66/1 -164%)Hard Nut |
66/1(-164%) | (7) Hard Nut 66/1, Returned to form when beaten 3l off 45 at Musselburgh last time; effective over 5f on a sound surface; not one to rely on building on latest. Comfortably held by the winner when 2nd at Musselburgh 11 days ago; yard also runs Sixcor. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Now that HAPPIER has regained the winning thread after a taking success at Catterick last week, the daughter of Profitable could kick on and follow up under a 5lb penalty. Back to form with a strong runner-up effort at Musselburgh last time out, Hard Nut is capable of being in the shake-up, along with Sixcor, who scored over C&D last month.

Fortunate Star and THORNABY PEARL appeal most and the selection is preferred on the back of wind surgery and a short break.

1st (2) (11/2 +45%)Go Vince Go |
11/2(+45%) | (2) Go Vince Go 11/2, Improved when dropped in trip on all-weather debut, finishing fourth beaten 2l in a novice at Newcastle last time; effective over 6-7f. Much improved effort to finish a close fourth at Newcastle (6f) where he had no excuses. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/2 -27%)Showtown |
7/2(-27%) | (3) Showtown 7/2, Improved for debut experience, settling much better when second beaten 2l in a novice at Pontefract last time; can find a maiden over 6f. Beaten 2l into second at Pontefract (good) but the winner has since gone in again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (12/1 -20%)Supreme Clarets |
12/1(-20%) | (5) Supreme Clarets 12/1, Yard has won two of the last five runnings of this race; very green but showed minor promise on debut when beaten 8l in a novice over 5f at Doncaster; should improve significantly and likely to get 6f. Made a low-key start at Doncaster but he was slowly away before keeping on over 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (7/1 -100%)Star Noir |
7/1(-100%) | (6) Star Noir 7/1, Well placed to challenge on a promising debut, finishing runner-up beaten 1 1/2l in a maiden over 5f at Beverley on only start; knew his job on debut but should progress a little. Second at Beverley (5f); that's not strong form but it was a respectable start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/4 +25%)Stoic Poet |
9/4(+25%) | (4) Stoic Poet 9/4, Ran to form but was a bit too keen up in trip and flattened out late when 3l third in a novice over 7f at Ayr last time; steadily progressive, with a top course jockey; consistent in a short career, shows speed in pedigree and may do better back at 6f. Three fair runs in defeat; doesn't look overly progressive but has clear form claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (4/1 +11%)Circle Of Trust |
4/1(+11%) | (1) Circle Of Trust 4/1, Green and missed the break on a promising debut when 3 1/4l fourth in a novice at Thirsk first time out; should improve. Slowly away and inexperienced before keeping on for fourth at 16-1 on debut at Thirsk. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (200/1 -100%)Queenies Pal |
200/1(-100%) | (7) Queenies Pal 200/1, Too green to show anything on debut and well beaten in a novice at Newcastle on only start; likely to need more time. Always out the back over this distance at Newcastle 11 days ago; went off 100-1. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A major improver from first to second start after a gelding operation when runner-up at Pontefract last month, SHOWTOWN can go one better on this occasion. That may be at the main expense of Star Noir, who should improve for the rise in distance after a promising second on debut over 5f at Beverley. Stoic Poet is another who has shown enough ability in three career outings to suggest that he is capable.

The form of SHOWTOWN's second at Pontefract makes for positive reading in the context of this race and he can improve some more.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/4 -20%)They All Know Me |
9/4(-20%) | (5) They All Know Me 9/4, Improved for debut experience when down in grade and second, beaten a length, in a maiden over 7f at Redcar latest. Effective at 7f on good and good to soft; capable of winning a maiden. Remote third at Chester but much better when keeping the useful winner honest at Redcar. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (16/1 +36%)Spirit Of Nature |
16/1(+36%) | (4) Spirit Of Nature 16/1, 32,000gns Pinatubo gelding; half-brother to Sceptical, top-class at 6f; dam exceptional at 5f at 2yo; top course jockey/trainer combination; yard in good form. Good pedigree but has been gelded and undergone some wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (200/1 0%)Soham's Roger |
200/1(0%) | (3) Soham's Roger 200/1, Yet to show any real signs of ability; yard without a winner this year; best watched. Pretty much tailed off in his first two races, both at 1m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (125/1 +17%)Precious Sapphire |
125/1(+17%) | (6) Precious Sapphire 125/1, Yet to show any real signs of ability and has yet to show anything; one for low-grade handicaps. Beaten a long way over 7f at Carlisle and the extended 1m here; very opposable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GOLDEN HORSE didn't do himself any favours when slowly away on debut at Pontefract last month, but he recovered well to finish third and, with normal improvement, he can strike for his in-form connections. An encouraging second over 7f at Redcar last time out, They All Know Me is open to more progression and he is a key player, as well as newcomer Spirit Of Nature, who is related to several winners.

This will probably develop into a shootout between GOLDEN HORSE and They All Know Me. Preference is for the Newmarket raider.

5/2(+25%) | (2) Danger Bay 5/2, Quickened clear readily and improved to win a maiden here by 3l last time; consistent over 8-9f in a short career; could follow up in a handicap. Fulfilled previous promise when a short-priced winner of a C&D maiden in June. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (17/2 -113%)Immediate Effect |
17/2(-113%) | (3) Immediate Effect 17/2, Scored by 1 1/2l off 81 over 8f at Southwell in June; ran to form in first-time cheekpieces when second, beaten a short-head off 87 last time; trainer in form and consistent over 8-9f. Only narrowly failed to get up at Wolverhampton last time and may have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (50/1 -213%)Ayr Poet |
50/1(-213%) | (7) Ayr Poet 50/1, Up 4lb but well treated on old form; improved on recent runs when suited by positive handling to land a handicap by 2 1/4l off 62 over 8f here last time; top course trainer and a generally consistent veteran. Hat-trick seeker but up in grade here off an increased mark and looks vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (3/1 -9%)Noble Horizon |
3/1(-9%) | (4) Noble Horizon 3/1, Quickened clear easily and ran to form when winning a novice over 10f at Leicester by 4 1/2l last time; effective over 8-10f on a sound surface; opening mark looks fair. Handicap newcomer; did it comfortably from the front in a 1m2f novice at Leicester. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (12/1 +0%)Bubbles Wonky |
12/1(+0%) | (1) Bubbles Wonky 12/1, Benefited from a positive ride to score by 1 1/4l off 80 here in June; ran to form when just outstayed late in fifth, beaten 5l off 83 last time; effective from 7-10f, best at 9f and worth dropping back in trip. C&D winner in June off only 2lb lower but no closer than 5l in his subsequent races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (40/1 +0%)Starliner |
40/1(+0%) | (6) Starliner 40/1, Trip suited and something in hand when scoring by 1/2l off 72 here in May; a bit below form when seventh, beaten 6 1/4l off 73 last time; effective from 7-10f on a sound surface and looks high enough in the weights. Ran on Saturday; may find one or two of these better handicapped even if back on song. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Ayr Poet is looking for his hat-trick but he won't get his own way on the front end here with impressive novice winner Noble Horizon expected to take him on. If they go off too fast they may set the race up for a closer and Harry Charlton's WAVE RIDER fits the bill. Winner of a decent Sandown maiden, he finished third at Yarmouth last month but drops in class off 1lb lower and boasts every chance.

An interesting handicap that looks best left to the 3yos. NOBLE HORIZON (nap) has a high-class pedigree and may have the most potential.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (12/1 -85%)Eternal Sunshine |
12/1(-85%) | (8) Eternal Sunshine 12/1, Yard won this last year; below form when upped in grade and beaten 7 1/4l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; top course jockey/trainer combination; effective at 5-6f; may need to drop a few more lbs. Five wins last season; 0-7 this year but there have been some good runs; each-way shout. |

Two Nottingham wins (6f, good to firm) this season; not at best in York Class 4 latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (3/1 +45%)Aberama Gold |
3/1(+45%) | (1) Aberama Gold 3/1, Scored by a neck off 79 at York three starts back; a bit below form but poorly placed to challenge when sixth beaten 5 1/2l off 81 last time; top jockey back on board; effective over 6f; veteran inconsistent lately but capable off this mark. Beat 17 rivals at York last month; not so good twice since but still a leading contender. |

8/1(+27%) | (7) Ziggy's Condor 8/1, Found little when beaten 8l in a handicap over 7f at Southwell last time; effective at 6-7f; inconsistent. Modest strike-rate but he's talented and dropping back to 6f could help; dangerous mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (11/2 +45%)Iris Dancer |
11/2(+45%) | (11) Iris Dancer 11/2, Well backed when scoring by 3 1/4l off 63 here in June; below form in a good race when 20th beaten 10l off 70 last time; effective at 6f, acts on good but best with cut; excellent Hamilton record. C&D specialist; hamstrung by the draw at York on last two starts; can do better here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (15/2 +46%)Sacred Falls |
15/2(+46%) | (9) Sacred Falls 15/2, Ran to form when beaten 2 1/4l off 70 here last time; significant jockey booking; generally consistent; versatile regarding ground. Has often run well since her Catterick success in April; others more appealing for the win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (22/1 -175%)Novak |
22/1(-175%) | (6) Novak 22/1, Ran to form when beaten a length off 73 over 7f at Musselburgh last time; effective at 6-7f on a sound surface; consistent veteran. C&D winner; two AW successes this year; solid run over 7f three weeks ago; yard runs two. |

9th (2) (22/1 -238%)Lord Abama |
22/1(-238%) | (2) Lord Abama 22/1, Game when scoring by a head off 70 at Thirsk three starts back; made too much use of and set it up for closers when fourth beaten 3l off 75 last time; enjoys making the running; effective at 6f; handicapper may have caught up. Two 6f wins this year; not beaten far on his last two starts; should run his race again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (14/1 +44%)Habrdi |
14/1(+44%) | (10) Habrdi 14/1, Far too keen when beaten 5l in a handicap over 7f at Southwell last time; cheekpieces first time; regressive. Quiet for Ruth Carr this year but down in weights and now drops in trip in new headgear. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Jim Goldie won this last year with a five-year-old and is back for more with Eternal Sunshine, who would have place chances if she can repeat her July second. Iris Dancer needs forgiving a poor run at York last month but she has won here eight times. The vote goes to NOVAK. A length second at Musselburgh over further last time, he has won off this mark over this trip before.

Iris Dancer looks a big player back at Hamilton but ABERAMA GOLD is only 1lb higher than when beating 17 rivals at York last month.

50/1(-52%) | (11) Max The Tiger 50/1, Never competitive when beaten 9l in a handicap at Musselburgh last time; generally out of form; cheekpieces first time; effective over 12f on good to firm; unreliable maiden. Hasn't managed to beat many rivals in his last three starts; cheekpieces are now applied.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Lady Phoebe seemingly won with plenty in hand over a longer trip at Musselburgh last time, but she took 18 attempts to open her account and the less-exposed SHABU SHABU is preferred. A ready winner at Yarmouth recently, Saffie Osborne could afford to ease the son of Australia down in the closing stages, so a 6lb penalty may not be enough to anchor him. Sugarpiehoneybunch may prove best of the remainder.

Marginal preference is for the long-distance traveller SHABU SHABU who was given a sound winning ride by Saffie Osborne at Yarmouth.

2nd (1) (2/1 +33%)Temper Trap |
2/1(+33%) | (1) Temper Trap 2/1, Had too much to do and was unsuited by how the race developed when beaten 3 1/4l off 54 over 7f at Beverley last time; usually held up; suited by cut; Hamilton specialist dropping in the weights but not the force of old. The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

ROYAL BLAZE forged clear of the opposition to land a classified stakes race at Ayr on Saturday. He will likely prove competitive back in handicap company and another good effort looks assured, despite a 5lb penalty. Temper Trap has returned to a winning mark and could land a blow, while Daring Leader performed well here last time and drops in distance with a shout.

A modest finale with no depth and an excellent opportunity for ROYAL BLAZE to follow up Saturday's easy win in a classified race.
Ths is the racecard key.
