14:15 Haydock (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Kevin Ryan has booked rising star Jack Callan to ride course winner RIBBLE RIVER and, although he has an added 4lb for a neck success here last time, he has the speed needed to successfully drop back to this trip. Distinction drops a class after failing to run to form when eighth at Sandown and is worth another chance at this level, though Chester sixth Cotswold Cottage looks the bigger danger.

A good handful to consider but this can go to COTSWOLD COTTAGE (nap), who should appreciate the drop in trip.

14:50 Haydock (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Gentle George showed plenty of improvement for his debut sixth when winning by a length at Sandown when running on strongly, and he can go well back up a furlong here. Night Mission outran his odds of 80/1 when second over C&D on debut despite running green and could prove the bigger danger to MONARCH'S GOLD. A 550,000-euro breeze-up purchase in May, he only needed to be pushed out to win at Kempton and looks an exciting prospect.

None of these are ruled out but MONARCH'S GOLD looked a goood prospect at Kempton and that race is working out.

15:25 Haydock (Class 3) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Karl Burke has trained two of the last four winners and has a contender here with CLEAR FORCE despite finishing last of three over C&D in August, where he pulled too hard for his own good. Down 2lb for that, he has competed without success in Group/Listed class and might prove too good for these. Reimagined could do a lot better wearing a tongue-tie, while Concert is another to note.

There's a suspicion ARMY BUGLER might have been running well despite quick ground and he's interesting on this forecast easier surface.

16:00 Haydock (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Aerial Silk made a pleasing introduction over C&D earlier this month and that experience ought to stand him in good stead, but the Karl Burke-trained POKER could hold all the aces. A son of Wootton Bassett, he fetched an eye watering 4,300,000gns at the sales last October and has plenty to recommend him on paper. The yard has an abundance of talented youngsters already, and this Futurity entrant could be another. Gaurdman can chase the pair home.

This race features the first appearance of POKER, who was one of the top lots at Tattersalls Book 1 last October and could prove smart.

16:35 Haydock (Class 3) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Persuasion was no match for an improver over C&D earlier this month but there wouldn't appear to be anything of that calibre lining up here so he merits respect. However, Steph Hollinshead landed the corresponding event 12 months ago and, with that in mind, a chance can be taken on ALBESEEINGYER. There have been signs of a revival since returning in June, none more so than when third at Newmarket latest, so it is very possible this could be her turn. Lexington Belle and Leadman are just two others to consider.

Leadman has the talent if the cards fall right for him but PERSUASION's solid record over C&D earns him the vote.

Gentle Warrior bids for a hat-trick raised 8lb for his convincing success at Chester. The less-exposed Arabian Poet makes more appeal after scoring over 1m4f at Kempton on his handicap bow, but KLASSLEADER could prove to be the one. The son of Lope De Vega found plenty in the closing stages of a novice race at Ffos Las to forge clear of his rivals, and this extra test of stamina looks likely to bring about more improvement on his handicap debut.

Hard to rule any of these out but the vote goes to ARABIAN POET, who was off the mark last time and can improve again up in trip.

17:40 Haydock (Class 5) 15f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ROLAND GARROS made a bold bid from the front when runner-up on his debut for Hayley Burton's yard. Raised 2lb for that neck defeat, he has plenty of scope for further progress off his current mark and can go one better. Taritino has been in the mix of late and he can feature again having scored off a higher mark last term, while Alpine Stroll is also fancied to go well.

Roland Garros and Alpine Stroll are respected but CORMIER may be able to build on the promise of his latest outing at Chester.
