1st (2) (11/8 +31%)Kingcormac |
11/8(+31%) | (2) Kingcormac 11/8, Improved, benefitting from pace collapse when landing a handicap by 6l off a 6lb lower mark at Exeter last time; usually held up; effective around 2m4f, acts with cut; can go well again. Up 6lb, so on a career-high mark, but he's probably the safest option after his Exeter win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (9/1 -13%)Gorcombe Moonshine |
9/1(-13%) | (7) Gorcombe Moonshine 9/1, Every chance, not find much comfortably held in a handicap chase at Worcester last time; trainer in form; returning from long layoff; effective 2m-2m4f on soft and good; might need this. Wasn't in much form when last seen, as the two thirds were remote. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (15/8 +53%)Kapamazov |
15/8(+53%) | (5) Kapamazov 15/8, Found little up the hill after bad error when 16l third in a handicap chase at Leicester most recent run; off a short-break; effective 2m4f-3m on a sound surface; frustrating maiden, often a weak finisher. Has placed form that entitles him to consideration and has changed stables. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/1 -11%)Ballyfinn |
5/1(-11%) | (1) Ballyfinn 5/1, Failed to build on chase debut when well beaten in a handicap chase at Taunton latest; off a short-break; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on sound surface; bounce back needed dropping in trip. First run over fences was encouraging but not the latest; may need good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (18/1 -13%)Zacony Rebel |
18/1(-13%) | (4) Zacony Rebel 18/1, Found little, below form when fourth beaten 26l in a handicap chase here latest; effective 2m4f, just about gets sharp 3m, acts on soft but suited by good; has slipped 5lb below his last win mark. Dubious form when winning in December; tailed off in four subsequent runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (33/1 -18%)Greenways |
33/1(-18%) | (6) Greenways 33/1, Pulled up on deep ground in a handicap chase at Ffos Las latest; effective 2m-2m4f, wants sound surface; prefers to dominate and hard to fancy. Good mark even from out of the handicap but he's a risky proposition at the minute. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Ballyfinn is yet to taste success in his career and failed to land a blow when only seventh at Taunton in December, although this is just his third chase outing and he competes off a career-low figure. Kitsilano has been in good form and is noted, but KINGCORMAC gets the vote. Joe Tickle's 10-year-old won by six lengths at Exeter earlier in the month and a 6lb rise might underestimate the level of authority he showed that day.

Most of these have questions to answer on one count or another but KINGCORMAC is pretty solid on the back of his win at Exeter.

1st (7) (3/1 +10%)Don Rafael |
3/1(+10%) | (7) Don Rafael 3/1, Ran to form, just tiring late on ground more testing than ideal when 11l third in a handicap hurdle here most recent run; effective 2m4f, acts on heavy and good; consistent and mark fair. In form but the concern is this trip as he's unraced beyond an extended 2m5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/2 -56%)Dwight K Schrute |
7/2(-56%) | (1) Dwight K Schrute 7/2, Outstayed late up in trip on ground softer than ideal when second beaten 14l in a handicap hurdle at Sedgefield latest; trainer in form; effective 2m3f-2m7f, acts on good to soft and good; back in form, can go well again. Consistent and won't mind this drier surface; considered for his in-form stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (10/3 +76%)Kintail |
10/3(+76%) | (3) Kintail 10/3, Stopped quickly when pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Newbury latest; blinkers first time; off a short-break; effective 2m3f-3m with cut; out of form. Inconsistent but he's on a good mark should blinkers trigger something. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/1 +29%)Knockanore |
10/1(+29%) | (2) Knockanore 10/1, Never really travelled, continued in poor form when well beaten in a handicap chase at Newcastle latest; blinkers first time; suited by marathon trips; out of form and enough to prove back hurdling. In poor form but too well handicapped to rule out and blinkers go on for cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/2 -157%)Despereaux |
9/2(-157%) | (4) Despereaux 9/2, Ran to form, got first run on second at sharp track in landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 6lb lower mark here last time; off a short-break; effective up to 3m, acts on good to soft and good; back in form, holds a good chance again. Up the weights for his win here in December but he had dropped to a fair mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (9/1 +10%)D'jo Dela Barriere |
9/1(+10%) | (6) D'jo Dela Barriere 9/1, Well held back hurdling in a handicap at Ludlow last time; effective 2m4f-3m, suited by sound surface; step back up in trip may help. Hurdle/chase winner; on a perfectly good mark if he can bounce back to form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (125/1 -279%)Vee Dancer |
125/1(-279%) | (5) Vee Dancer 125/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Ludlow latest; effective 2m4f-3m1f; needs to prove ability remains following long layoff. Out of form but what could help is getting away from soft ground. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Dwight K Schrute finished a well-beaten second at Sedgefield last month but should be competitive, especially off a 1lb lower rating. Don Rafael attempts this trip for the first time and is of interest, but the vote goes to DESPEREAUX. Jane Williams' charge went in by half a length over track and trip in December and, if in similar form, he will prove a tough nut to crack.

In form, consistent and on ground that should suit better than that at Sedgefield last time, DWIGHT K SCHRUTE appeals most.

1st (3) (10/3 -11%)Independent Lady |
10/3(-11%) | (3) Independent Lady 10/3, Best effort so far dropped in trip albeit still well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Wincanton latest; seems effective around 2m; more to come now upped in trip and handicapping. She's been well beaten thus far but now goes into handicaps for a much respected yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (15/8 +38%)After Many Days |
15/8(+38%) | (4) After Many Days 15/8, Ran to form beaten 2l off a 1lb lower mark at Huntingdon last time; trainer in form; effective 2m4f, acts on any; back in form but frustrating, maiden for a reason. Yet to win over hurdles but has run many a good race in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (10/3 +56%)Moorsbrook |
10/3(+56%) | (5) Moorsbrook 10/3, Improved but looked in need of further when fourth beaten 12l in a novice hurdle here latest; effective 2m with cut; possible improver now handicapping over further. Beaten 12l in a novice here last time; showed plenty of bumper promise on good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (13/2 +64%)Getarose |
13/2(+64%) | (7) Getarose 13/2, Outpaced, looked in need of stiffer test when fourth beaten 13l in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon latest; effective 2m4f, acts on heavy and good; mark demands more. Much better last time but has ground to make up on the second After Many Days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (40/1 -21%)Make Sunshine |
40/1(-21%) | (8) Make Sunshine 40/1, In process of a poor chase debut when fell in a handicap chase at Ludlow latest; effective 2m1f-2m6f; soon back hurdling. The odd piece of form is worth noting and she has never been lower in the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) (11/2 -83%)Lydeard Girl |
11/2(-83%) | (1) Lydeard Girl 11/2, Ran to form, appreciating step up in trip on handicap debut when second beaten 7 1/2l here latest; effective 2m-2m5f, acts on any; more to come. Stuck on for second on her handicap debut over 2m5f here a month ago; can run well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (28/1 -133%)Jlow |
28/1(-133%) | (6) Jlow 28/1, Far too keen throughout when down the field in a handicap at Bath most recent; effective at 2m on a sound surface; bit to prove back hurdling. Off since September; can be competitive off this mark and drying going would aid her cause. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (33/1 -32%)Little Lady Lucy |
33/1(-32%) | (9) Little Lady Lucy 33/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Plumpton latest; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on good to soft and good; hard to fancy on recent evidence. Has shown glimpses of ability but not in her latest two races, after an absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

After Many Days has found one too good at Leicester and Huntingdon and might fill that position again, this time behind LYDEARD GIRL. Kayley Woollacott's mare showed a lot more when filling the runner-up spot over an extended 2m5f at this track last month and goes off an unchanged rating. With the likelihood of more to come on just her second outing in handicap company, she looks the one to beat. Moorsbrook completes the shortlist.

She is more exposed than some in here but AFTER MANY DAYS (nap) continues to run well and her conqueror last time was well treated.

4/7(+29%) | (1) Silver Hill 4/7, Improved up in trip when second beaten 1/2l in a novice hurdle at Newcastle latest; trainer in form; effective 2m-2m3f on a sound surface; progressive. Has twice come up shy under a penalty but those were improved efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (4/1 +20%)Guardami Ancora |
4/1(+20%) | (3) Guardami Ancora 4/1, Every chance, bit below form when beaten 8 1/4l in a novice hurdle here last time; in good form prior; off a short-break; effective 2m, acts on good; bit more needed. Best run according to Topspeed and RPRs when beaten about 8l here last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (9/1 +73%)Kingdom Of Stars |
9/1(+73%) | (5) Kingdom Of Stars 9/1, Improved tried in a hood albeit comfortably held in a maiden hurdle here last time; looks in need of more time and probably low-grade handicaps. Raced on only soft/heavy as a jumper and these conditions should suit him better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (28/1 -273%)No Tricks At All |
28/1(-273%) | (6) No Tricks At All 28/1, Disappointing effort under a penalty when well beaten in a novice hurdle at Market Rasen latest; in good form prior; effective 2m on good; bounce back needed. Good-ground winner; she'll need her best form yet now going in against male opposition. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (6/1 -33%)Argento Royale |
6/1(-33%) | (2) Argento Royale 6/1, Promising hurdles debut when 6 1/2l third in a maiden hurdle at Newcastle most recent run; effective at 2m1f on good to soft; good chance if building on initial effort. Will to find need more, and probably plenty more, if he's to trouble Silver Hill. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (40/1 -21%)Itsjustthewayiam |
40/1(-21%) | (4) Itsjustthewayiam 40/1, In front and looking the winner when unseated last in a maiden point at Peppards Castle latest; returning from a break; effective at 3m in points; brings potential to rules. Would probably have won his latest point but for unseating; bought for £25,000. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) (80/1 -300%)Yellow Warning |
80/1(-300%) | (7) Yellow Warning 80/1, Gained compensation for debut unseat when in front by winning a maiden point at Peppards Castle by a short-head last time; effective at 3m in points; brings plenty of potential to rules racing. Bought for £10,000 after narrowly winning what was probably a modest Irish point. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

With a few of these still to prove themselves over timber, SILVER HILL should take all the beating. Jamie Snowden's charge has gone close under a penalty the last twice having won at Catterick in November and this contest is probably not as deep. Guardami Ancora failed to confirm the promise of December's Taunton second here latest but can't be ruled out, although Newcastle third Argento Royale might be the bigger threat over this longer trip.

Standard-setter SILVER HILL is likeably consistent and this looks his best opportunity yet to defy a penalty for his Catterick win.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (8/1 +56%)L'empire Vert |
8/1(+56%) | (2) L'empire Vert 8/1, Bit better than result implies back hurdling albeit still well beaten in a handicap hurdle here latest; effective 2m-2m4f, seems best on a sound surface; enough to prove back chasing. Back to winning mark but record is now 1-17 and he needs a major revival back over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

5/1(-11%) | (1) Forsa Bay 5/1, Never travelled when pulled up in a handicap chase at Sedgefield latest; visor first time; effective around 2m4f, suited by decent ground; can do better. Lightly raced 6yo who may have had an excuse last time; could bounce back in new headgear. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (15/8 -15%)Just Aidan |
15/8(-15%) | (3) Just Aidan 15/8, Improved, jumping much better when landing a handicap by 2l off a 5lb lower mark at Bangor-on-Dee last time; effective 2m, acts with cut; unexposed over fences and more to come. Unexposed chaser who got back on track with a win at Bangor; big player again up 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (22/1 -214%)Glancing Back |
22/1(-214%) | (6) Glancing Back 22/1, Went clear, made too much use of when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon last time; bred to be effective 2m-2m4f; plenty to prove in handicaps. Has struggled in four runs over hurdles and she needs improvement on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (6/1 -50%)Formel Park |
6/1(-50%) | (7) Formel Park 6/1, Made too much use of well beaten in a handicap hurdle here latest; off a short-break; effective 2m, acts on soft and good; inconsistent but capable. Struggled in last two starts but has claims on her Sedgefield win in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (7/1 +13%)No Guarantee |
7/1(+13%) | (4) No Guarantee 7/1, Outpaced, below form when third beaten 23l off 89 last time, 2lb lower here; effective 2m-2m2f, acts on soft and good to soft; mark stiff enough Well held in last two hurdle runs and has something to prove on chase debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

JUST AIDAN didn't get far on his chasing bow, but he put that behind him to score at Bangor three weeks ago. A 5lb rise looks fair relative to what he achieved over hurdles and given that he's open to further improvement, this might be another fine opportunity. Glancing Back didn't show too much over timber, but it's interesting that connections waste no time in sending her over a fence. She, alongside fellow chasing debutant No Guarantee, could be the main dangers to the selection.

This can go to JUST AIDAN, who made it second time lucky over fences when landing a Bangor handicap last month.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (33/1 -175%)Beau Quali |
33/1(-175%) | (3) Beau Quali 33/1, Found little, well below form well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Southwell latest; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on soft and good; bit frustrating and up against it on recent evidence. Chase winner but he's 0-11 over hurdles and has struggled in his last two runs. |

7/1(+42%) | (7) Fight My Fire 7/1, Outpaced and pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Taunton latest; off a short-break; effective 2m-2m2f, acts on soft and good to soft; in good form until latest, could bounce back up slightly in trip. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (7/2 +56%)El Curamach |
7/2(+56%) | (8) El Curamach 7/2, Needed race but ran well for a long way when 21l third in a handicap hurdle at Newbury most recent run; effective 2m, acts on soft and good; progressive in novices, fair mark and should come on for latest. Back from long absence with an encouraging third on handicap debut at Newbury; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (11/1 -144%)Top Coeur |
11/1(-144%) | (2) Top Coeur 11/1, Confirmed hurdles debut level when 3 1/2l third in a maiden hurdle at Thurles most recent run; off a short-break; effective 2m, acts with cut; ex-Irish, more to come for new yard. Showed promise in Ireland last year and needs a close look on handicap/stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

It could pay to side with handicap/stable debutant TOP COEUR. He shaped encouragingly in each of his three starts for Gavin Cromwell and a step up in trip may bring about some improvement. Emerald Breeze has a similar profile and should be competitive on his handicap bow, while the dropped-in-class Castelfort and bottom-weight El Curamach cannot be ruled out either.

The vote goes to the well-related EMERALD BREEZE, who is open to more progress upped in trip on his handicap debut.

(9) (7/2 +30%)Daring Plan |
7/2(+30%) | (9) Daring Plan 7/2, Ran to form but made bit too much use of down in trip 9 1/2l third in a handicap chase at Bangor-on-Dee most recent run; effective 2m2f-2m6f on good and soft; can go well here. Third at Bangor (2m1f) latest but this is a very different test and he's still a maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (4/1 +47%)The Magus |
4/1(+47%) | (1) The Magus 4/1, Found ground too soft, made mistakes when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Chepstow last time; off a short-break; effective 2m4f-2m7f, acts on good; could bounce back if ground stays dry. Hurdle winner but he's struggled in last two chase runs and is untried at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (5/1 +33%)Atlanta Brave |
5/1(+33%) | (2) Atlanta Brave 5/1, Again well below form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Ludlow last time; returning from a break; effective 3m-3m2f; out of form and all to prove back chasing. His last win was in 2023 and he was out of sorts last year; 114 days off; opposable. |

(6) (8/1 +20%)Tongaknoxie |
8/1(+20%) | (6) Tongaknoxie 8/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase here latest; tongue-tie first time; off a short-break and undergone a wind op; effective 2m4f; yet to show much over hurdles or fences. Lightly raced 6yo but he needs a transformation after wind surgery; tongue-tie added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (10/1 -82%)Edgewell |
10/1(-82%) | (5) Edgewell 10/1, Never travelled, race may have come too soon when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Catterick latest; effective 3m-3m5f, acts on soft and good; tricky ride but can go well back chasing. On a dangerous mark but he's been well held in last five runs and others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (12/1 -9%)Prince Cleni |
12/1(-9%) | (8) Prince Cleni 12/1, Never in it from off the pace, maybe needed run when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Southwell last time; effective 2m6f-3m2f on soft and good to firm; should come on for return. Triple chase winner who may have needed last month's run after six months off; in the mix. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Difficult to be too confident about any of these, but THE MAGUS has quickly found himself 5lb lower than when third at Taunton in December and anything like that level of performance should see him go close in this lesser event. Cornish Comedy disappointed last time but has claims on the form of his previous runner-up effort here, while Daring Plan needs to prove his stamina but sits at the foot of the weights.

This looks tricky but it might be worth siding with triple chase winner PRINCE CLENI, who is well treated on his best form last year.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
