Anchored towards rear and in danger of losing touch entering the home straight, MR HAILSTONE came from the clouds to make a winning handicap debut at Chepstow last month. On that evidence, he ought to relish a step up from 2m3f and the unexposed son of Sageburg is fancied to defy a subsequent 3lb rise in the ratings. Velasco (second) and Something Golden (third) and closely matched on their recent C&D meeting and both merit consideration, along with The Longest Day, who struck the woodwork at Perth 27 days ago.

Perhaps this can be the day DR SHIROCCO finally gets his head in front. Velasco, Something Golden and Tara Brooch are very closely matched on recent C&D form and may give Sandy Forster's 8-y-o most to think about.

Preference is for TARA BROOCH, who could be ridden more positively than when given plenty to do here last time.

Rostello appeals as a likely contender back over hurdles, while Ninetofive retains potential and shouldn't be underestimated, for all that he does need to bounce back from a below-par effort. However, it may be worth siding with the Rebecca Menzies-trained HARPER VALLEY, who should progress having finished a good second at Kelso 13 days ago. Stablemate Imperial Data, who won between the flags at Stradbally last month, also enters calculations.

HARPER VALLEY improved further when runner-up at Kelso 13 days ago and a reproduction of that form could be good enough to see him go one better here. Ninetofive disappointed on his Perth handicap debut but was subsequently found to have lost both front shoes, so can be given another chance. Kopa Kilana may prove best of the rest.

Recent winning chaser Rostello is never the easiest to predict and this may concern NINETOFIVE and Harper Valley.

DOYENS DE ANTE has improved since the fitting of cheekpieces last month, winning back-to-back starts, and Max Young's seven-year-old may be capable of better, despite a subsequent 7lb hike in the ratings. Connections have wasted little time in sending Hapy La Vie over the larger obstacles and he must be respected in receipt of weight, while Trevelyn's Corn appeals as the pick of the remainder.

DOYENS DE ANTE has made an encouraging start to his chasing career and the manner of his win at Huntingdon suggests a hat-trick is on the cards. Trevelyn's Corn was lit up by first-time headgear over C&D last time but he's capable of defying his current mark if things go his way, while Jimmy Rabbitte was a back-to-form second over hurdles at Kelso 2 weeks ago.

Jimmy Rabbitte is respected on his hurdle form but DOYENS DE ANTE is taken to continue his good chase form now back at 2m4f.

MOONLIGHT GLORY looked to be value for more than the winning margin suggested when scoring over C&D last time out and a 4lb rise may not be enough to prevent her going in again off a low weight. Mark Walford's mare gets the vote ahead of the likes of veteran Voix Du Reve and Onward Route, who promises to be well suited by this trip having been narrowly denied over shorter here on his most recent outing.

RATTLE OWL is on a good mark on the pick of his novice form so he's taken to show the benefit of his comeback and come out on top with this step back up in trip likely to suit. Didtheyleaveuoutto is another who's been given a real chance by the assessor and makes some appeal with his yard back among the winners. Onward Route completes the shortlist.

A chance is taken on RATTLE OWL. He ran well after an absence at Ayr and is entitled to be considerably sharper here.

It could be worth siding with last-time-out C&D winner GIBBERWELL. The seven-year-old has gone up 6lb for that success but confidence will be high and this isn't the strongest of handicaps, so perhaps connections have found their gelding another winnable opening. Kildrum, whose two career successes have come over C&D in the past year, heads the list of dangers from Robert D'ores.

ROBERT D'ORES made much more of an impact when runner-up on his chase/handicap debut over C&D on return despite shaping as if needing the experience, so he's taken to find the required improvement and strike. Gibberwell heads up the dangers.

Preference is for ROBERT D'ORES, who ran well on his debut over regulation fences here last time. Henry Brown is second choice.

All four winners of this race to date have carried more than 11 stone and First Revolution, who carries 11-2 today, can go well after his second over this C&D 10 days ago, but he may still find LAKE TAKAPUNA too good for him. He was only beaten half a length at Ayr off 1lb higher when last seen in March and a repeat of that run may prove good enough in this line-up. Robins Field could come out best of the rest despite having to carry 3lb more than his allotted mark.

FIRST REVOLUTION wasn't far off his best when runner-up over C&D 10 days ago and this looks a decent opportunity off 1 lb lower. Lake Takapuna rates a big threat down in class with Dolly Dancer and Robins Field best of the others.

The 9yo FIRST REVOLUTION (nap) has a lot going for him and his latest conqueror was a chasing debutant who was well ahead of his mark.

CHEMICAL WARFARE was a ready winner over fences at Newcastle last time out and, with the stable's horses running well lately, the switch back to hurdles may not stop him doubling up off the same mark. Should he fail to adapt, then Haveyougotmymoney seems likeliest to take advantage after coming home second at Uttoxeter on his first run since December. Malangen is an interesting alternative, dropping into this class for the first time since May last year when seventh over further off a 5lb higher mark.

CHEMICAL WARFARE won quite comfortably off this mark over fences at Newcastle last week. A couple of placed efforts over C&D last summer show he's effective around here and he can strike again. Recent Uttoxeter runner-up Haveyougotmymoney is an obvious danger under Brian Hughes. Kilbrainy also makes the shortlist.

Brian Hughes keeps the faith in HAVEYOUGOTMYMONEY after they found only one superior when well backed at Uttoxeter.
