30/100(+44%) | (1) Romantic Symphony 30/100, Dubawi filly; short in the market, knew job when 3/4l winner in a novice at Newmarket on debut in September; looks a nice prospect for top connections; one to beat. Justified odds of 10-11 on last September's Newmarket debut; major player on return. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (10/1 -43%)Littlecote |
10/1(-43%) | (6) Littlecote 10/1, Well backed on second start when second beaten 2 1/4l in a novice at Southwell latest; top course jockey/trainer combination; not out of it entirely. Second on her Southwell return 11 days ago; up against a useful rival in Romantic Symphony. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/1 +7%)Fashion's Fancy |
7/1(+7%) | (4) Fashion's Fancy 7/1, Night Of Thunder filly; half-sister to Lyrical Style, poor at 11f; dam smart at 7f-8f, including placing at Level, half-sister to Rebel's Romance; could contend on debut for yard that are no strangers to first-time-out winners. Looks the part on breeding, but Romantic Symphony does looks the stable first string.. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (6/1 -9%)Light Of Paris |
6/1(-9%) | (5) Light Of Paris 6/1, 500,000gns Sea The Stars filly; half-sister to seven winners, including Lucky Lion, high-class at 10f, and Listed winner Lips Freedom; dam, Lips Arrow, very smart at 6f; top trainers; obvious contender on debut. 300/1(-20%) | (3) Crimson Dawn 300/1, Yet to show any real signs of ability on first two starts; green and missed break on debut; no improvement with tongue-tie on second start; light-framed, has looked very limited; best watched. Beaten a long way into last of eight in two runs on Polytrack; no appeal.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

ROMANTIC SYMPHONY is a full-sister to top-flight winners Yibir and Wild Illusion and showed plenty of the family talent when justifying odds-on favouritism at Newmarket. She is around the 25/1 mark for the Oaks and another impressive performance here could book her ticket to a Classic trial. Littlecote may have a fitness edge after her Southwell second, but bigger threats might lurk among the unraced brigade. Light Of Paris cost 500,000gns and is a half-sister to a German Group 1 winner. The selection's stablemate Fashion's Fancy is from the family of Rebel's Romance, while 115,000gns yearling Aukus has plenty to recommend her too.

This can go to ROMANTIC SYMPHONY who looked a nice prospect on her Newmarket debut last autumn.

Outsider over C&D two weeks ago but he shaped with some promise; not ruled out. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (150/1 -200%)Ocean Force |

Well held in two novice events (7f) last month, with RPRs in the 40s on both occasions. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

GO RIMBAUD chased home the well-touted Talk Of New York here and then finished second to another smart prospect of Godolphin's in Fort Rock. The Palace Pier colt is clearly going the right way and sets a good standard. There are some interesting newcomers in opposition, not least Turret, who cost Juddmonte 580,000 euros and is from the top Coolmore family of Hydrangea and Hermosa. Besieged, who is out of Falmouth winner Snow Lantern, and Electric Dreams weren't much cheaper, while Romanticizing was bought for 180,000gns and is related to some smart performers.

There are some striking newcomers in the line-up, but it might be worth sticking with GO RIMBAUD who had a near-miss here in November.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Domenico Contarini was an expensive breeze-up purchase and showed ability when runner-up at Newcastle. He will build on that, and better is also expected from Zatsgood now that he has a comeback second at the Gosforth Park venue under his belt. Flying Squad has been gelded since a satisfactory Southwell introduction, but HERALDRY is fancied to take the biggest step forward. The Gosdens' son of Kingman was in need of the experience at Newcastle in November, but still offered plenty of encouragement and will probably stay further than this.

The choice is DOMENICO CONTARINI who made a promising debut when runner-up at Newcastle in February.

ASH WEDNESDAY has a commendable record on the all-weather and he continues to run with credit, most recently when second at Southwell. That defeat came at the hands of a relatively unexposed rival and given that a 1lb rise means he's still 1lb below his last winning mark, the son of Outstrip is likely to go close again. Atmosphere scores highly for consistency himself and the booking of Oisin Murphy is noteworthy, while others to note include the returning Jersey Maverick and Charlie Johnston's Tattie Bogle.

The vote goes to ASH WEDNESDAY, who ran very well on his last visit here and remains 1lb below his last winning mark.

Silver medals have been something of a theme during RASTNET's short racing career but there is nothing wrong with her attitude. Despite having just the one novice triumph to her name, the daughter of Fastnet Rock continues to creep up in the handicap but she's still improving and dropping a furlong should suit. Club Class shares a similarly consistent profile and is sure to run her race once again, while Schemaya and Caramay are also noted.

Now up against just her own sex, the vote goes to RASTNET, a consistent filly who may have run into one at Newcastle last time.

28/1(-300%) | (4) Unionville 28/1, Went close on handicap debut here two starts ago and off the mark winning a maiden at Chelmsford by a nose last time; wide draw; off a short-break; effective 5/6f, acts on good to soft and AW; consistent and with a chance. Close second over C&D on stable/handicap debut and has dead-heated in a maiden since. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (13/2 -86%)Return Of The Gods |
13/2(-86%) | (2) Return Of The Gods 13/2, Built on debut effort last time, short in the market when winning a maiden at Wolverhampton by a nose last time; trainer in form; tongue-tie first time; effective 6f, acts on AW; could still improve. Narrow winner of 6f Wolverhampton maiden in October, his second start; can improve again. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Both Hallo Spaceboy and Return Of The Gods could be well treated off their opening marks, but it was hard not to be impressed by the way in which ARRY UP won over C&D recently. The manner of that success suggests he might still be ahead of the handicapper under a 6lb penalty and despite a sharp rise in grade, Rod Millman's charge gets the vote.

This is a step up in grade for penalised bottomweight ARRY UP but he was a dominant C&D winner a week ago.

Last 11 AW starts have come at Newcastle including three wins over this trip. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (10/1 -150%)Hint Of The Jungle |
10/1(-150%) | (9) Hint Of The Jungle 10/1, Well backed when landing second straight win in a handicap by a short-head off a 3lb lower mark at Chelmsford last time; enjoys making it; wide draw; effective 5-7f on sound surface; in good form and on workable mark still. Bids for a hat-trick from 3lb higher, but the return to 6f and a high draw pose questions. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (40/1 -82%)Vitalline |
40/1(-82%) | (11) Vitalline 40/1, Raced freely beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap here last time; won here over 7f in a classified race three starts ago last month; wide draw; effective 6/7f, suited by AW; needs more off this mark back in a handicap. Four-time winner here, but well held in last two starts and drawn wide. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (14/1 +72%)Arnaz |
14/1(+72%) | (2) Arnaz 14/1, Below par down the field in a handicap at Southwell most recent start; effective 6/7f, acts on any except extremes; poor strike-rate, form just failing off recently; would be a big ask to get a win here. Return to this trip may help, but he is 0-17 since his successful handicap debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (14/1 -100%)Just Jump |
14/1(-100%) | (10) Just Jump 14/1, Beaten 2 1/2l off a 1lb higher mark here last time; effective 5-7f, acts on soft, good and AW; on a long enough losing run since sole victory on ninth start in October; inconsistent but capable if at best. 1-20, but has shown encouragement since joining Tony Carroll; can't be easily dismissed. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (11/8 +66%)Twilight Madness |
11/8(+66%) | (1) Twilight Madness 11/8, Game when landing a handicap by a neck off a 4lb lower mark at Bath last time; enjoys making it; suited by 5/6f, acts on any; new mark might be too high on recent showings, but consistent and can go well again. Dual C&D winner who won at Bath on Sunday; well drawn to attack. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (14/1 -409%)Watermelon Sugar |
14/1(-409%) | (4) Watermelon Sugar 14/1, Well backed when landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark at Lingfield last time; suited by 6f, acts on good to soft and good to firm, seems best on AW; remains well treated on old form, boasts good C&D record. Has a fine record over 6f at Lingfield, but it's a different story here. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (40/1 -21%)Big Bard |
40/1(-21%) | (7) Big Bard 40/1, Scored by 1/2l off a 2lb lower mark here penultimate start; showed little in the way of following up when beaten 10l off 62 last time, same mark here; best at 6f, acts on any; outsider. Consistency not his strong suit, but he is 2-5 over C&D; capable if on a going day. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

The money was down for WATERMELON SUGAR when he turned his form around at Lingfield before Christmas and he backed that up courtesy of two solid efforts there this year, including another victory last time. It might be worth sticking with the seven-year-old while he's in such good nick, although this won't be easy because Hint Of The Jungle is on a hat-trick and Bath scorer Twilight Madness is turned out quickly under a penalty.

The selection is dual C&D winner and recent Bath scorer TWILIGHT MADNESS (nap), who is well drawn to attack from stall 3.

Out of the frame in three goes on the AW; off six months and has no great record fresh. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (11/1 -38%)Pablo Prince |

Not the most consistent; has run well here, but stall 13 isn't ideal even over this trip. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (16/1 +20%)Maywedance |
16/1(+20%) | (9) Maywedance 16/1, Below par when fourth beaten 5l in a handicap at Wolverhampton latest; effective 12-14f, acts on sound surface; was involved in a dead-heat here in November; inconsistent and hard to make a case for. 1lb lower than when dead-heating over C&D in November; possibilities if bouncing back. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

TAKE THE BOAT arrives in good form and performed much better than her finishing position suggests here two starts ago. Denied narrowly at Chelmsford latest, dropping back to this trip should suit the four-year-old and she can get back to winning ways. Fravanco is a C&D winner to note and returns to the level after a spin over hurdles at this venue, while Mrembo and Iwantmytimewithyou could also go well.

The selection is FIDDLERS GREEN who has plenty of good form around here, including two wins.
Ths is the racecard key.
