The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ASHEN's stamina appeared to ebb away when weakening into fifth on his handicap bow over 1m here 16 days ago and a return to 7f could prove fruitful. Moreover, the son of Phoenix Of Spain arrives here race-fit, which could prove crucial over the higher-rated Brize Norton. Ralph Beckett's gelding ended his juvenile campaign with a respectable third at Salisbury and it will be interesting to see how he fares in the betting market. Dannick and Karthala are others of interest.

Ralph Beckett's BRIZE NORTON improved with each start at two and could be a different proposition this year, having been gelded.

150/1(-88%) | (12) Lady Monroe 150/1, Well beaten in a maiden over 6f at Wolverhampton only start having missed the break; up in trip; all to do Reportedly lost her action when tailed off sole start at two. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Having scythed his way through the field to make a winning debut at Chelmsford last month, COSI BELLO could be capable of defying a penalty. Charlie Fellowes' inmate impressed with both his cruising speed and finishing effort, which may be enough to repel chief threat Deira Storm. The Blue Point colt looked unlucky to not score on his opening bid at Wolverhampton last December and isn't taken lightly. Arboreous and Uppercase are others who should have better days ahead of them.

Cosi Bello did it nicely on debut at Chelmsford last month but he'll do well to give 9lb away to DEIRA STORM.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) (33/1 -843%)A La Louche |
33/1(-843%) | (8) A La Louche 33/1, Well beaten in a novice over 7f at Chelmsford latest; usually consistent; up in trip; yard's horses tend to improve when handicapping but likely to need this Initial mark not a gift on previous form, but 1m likelier to be within her range; player.. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Frostmagic is only 3lb higher than his recent triumph at Doncaster and should go well here, while Opening Bat is another interesting contender given Billy Loughnane is a significant jockey booking. However, the verdict is for TAKE THE BOAT as she is 3-4 at the track, including a C&D success, and is taken to improve returning to this venue following a mediocre display at Wolverhampton latest.

Should Opening Bat decline to settle again, chief beneficiary may prove to be the up-in-trip handicap debutante A LA LOUCHE.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MONOPOLISE was caught wider than ideal when a beaten favourite over 7f here in January. The three-timer C&D winner has a kinder berth to work with this evening, though, and it wouldn't come as any great surprise were he to bounce back. Royal Pleasure was narrowly denied at Lingfield last month and is respected from 2lb higher, along with Extrication, who is likely to benefit from a step up to the mile.

Extrication has untapped potential over 1m but there should be no excuses for A MAJOR PAYNE this evening.

Madame X was touched off on her racecourse bow at Salisbury earlier this month and is likely to go close again, with improvement on the cards, but the vote goes to SAYIDAH HARD SPUN. Richard Hughes' filly shaped with considerable promise when finishing fourth in a warm Ascot maiden on her debut recently. Stepping up from 5f will suit on that evidence and she's fancied to put the experience to good use. Market support for Earthlight filly Tobah would be noteworthy.

The vote goes to SAYIDAH HARD SPUN, who has leading claims on her promising run at Ascot and represents a yard that won this last year.

This is competitive and only a tentative vote can go to HIERONYMUS. The son of Dutch Art didn't have much left when weakening inside the final furlong over the mile here last month so he's sure to benefit from a drop in trip, and George Baker currently has his string in fine form. Pressure's On struggled in the Spring Mile at Doncaster but he is a player at this level, while others to note include Nibras Angel and Pitney.

Ed Dunlop's PRESSURE'S ON is taken to build on his promising second at Wolverhampton in March.

AL BAREZ bounced back to form when hitting the crossbar in this class at Wolverhampton on his latest outing and the handicapper may have been kind to only put him up 1lb. With a previous C&D victory to his name further aiding his cause, he looks the one to beat. Drama finished a close third in a warmer contest at Southwell last month and it would be no surprise to see him feature, along with Many A Star.

This looks good for DRAMA (nap), whose two C&D wins last year represent extremely strong form. Tan Rapido can chase him home.

AUTUMN'S BREEZE produced a career-best effort to take the silver medal home at Yarmouth when last seen and makes her return off an unchanged rating. If the Moore's filly has wintered well, she could take advantage of a winnable opportunity. Tatmeen showed a lot more on his handicap debut to finish second at Lingfield and has to be respected, while Marinakis isn't ruled out either.

After an improved second on his handicap debut and now sent over a trip that could suit, TATMEEN gets the nod.
Ths is the racecard key.
