I AM RIVER is interesting on his return to action. The Getaway gelding pulled up on his debut run in a Fairyhouse bumper in January 2024 when the rider reported he lost his action. He had gone to post a well supported odds-on shot that day so obviously shows a bit at home. There are a few of these that have been knocking on the door. Keep Kool Coko ran a solid race when chasing home Trasna Na Pairce at Clonmel last time and sets the standard off a mark of 112. In The Trenches has been placed over fences on his last three runs and is another to note, reverting to hurdles.

A few of these are capable of picking up a modest maiden but I AM RIVER has the potential to be a cut above them all.

1st (2) (30/100 +63%)Toad Hall |
30/100(+63%) | (2) Toad Hall 30/100, Yard has won last two runnings of race; fourth beaten 9 1/2l in a novice hurdle over 2m4f at Cheltenham latest where far too keen; debut form franked at Graded level; big chance if stamina holds up Downpatrick maiden winner, hung right latest at Cheltenham, should stay this far, claims. |

10/3(0%) | (3) Cooke's Lass 10/3, 2 1/2l winner in a maiden hurdle over 2m5f at Wexford on debut; third has boosted that form; step up in trip should suit; off a short-break; potential threat Won a 20.5f mares' maiden hurdle on debut, upped in trip, unexposed and can't discount. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (15/2 +25%)Huntsgrove |
15/2(+25%) | (1) Huntsgrove 15/2, Did not get a clear run won a maiden hurdle at Sligo over 2m4f by a head last time; previous runner up effort here boosted; up in trip; outside claims up in grade Rated 109, a shade fortunate to score latest, should stay this trip, more needed to win. |

TOAD HALL sets a good standard here off his mark of 127 and should take a bit of beating. The Fame And Glory gelding won his maiden hurdle at Downpatrick in late March and wasn't disgraced in a decent novice event at Cheltenham last month. This looks easier. Cooke's Lass won on her debut at Wexford early last month and remains unexposed. She looks like the danger. Huntsgrove was a game winner at Sligo last time but looks to have more on his plate now.

The Champion trainer has won the last two renewals of this and the top rated TOAD HALL (nap) should be up to completing the hat-trick.

|PU| (16) (50/1 -127%)Give Her Hollie |
50/1(-127%) | (16) Give Her Hollie 50/1, Appeared not to stay well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Down Royal latest; generally out of form; cheekpieces first time; bit to find and stamina concerns No show in maidens, similar story on h'cap debut, cheekpieces on, may need more time. |

Not the strongest looking contest and this track may suit front-runner BLUE REED. He made a couple of bold bids around Fairyhouse and Punchestown earlier in the year when scooting well clear only to be collared late on. They might find it hard to peg him back around here. Loup De Tallane was an impressive winner on his last visit here and could be a danger on his return to action. Give Him A Chance had just been headed when falling at Limerick last month and off just a 2lb higher mark he's another that has to come into the mix.

OUR UNCLE JACK shaped like this longer trip would suit when fifth over 2m2f here last time out and he can go close if settling better.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (50/1 -79%)Boston Bongo |
50/1(-79%) | (9) Boston Bongo 50/1, Probably needed race down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Wexford most recent where went too fast; generally out of form; needs to improve Lost form since Limerick second last year, no sign of revival latest, can only be watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (2/1 +67%)Moulane West |
2/1(+67%) | (3) Moulane West 2/1, Suited by drop in trip when landing a handicap by 10l off 86 over 2m2f at Sligo last time; more to come now has head in front; could prove tough to peg back Off the mark over hurdles at Sligo by 10l, up 11lb and dropped in trip, not discounted. |

MOULANE WEST was a very easy winner when getting his own way in front at Sligo 19 days ago and may be able to follow up despite an 11lb hike. The Jet Away gelding was recording his first victory since a similarly impressive bumper win back in July 2021 and is a talented sort when things fall right. Malbas won at Fairyhouse on his penultimate outing and ran a solid race when fourth at Down Royal last time. He could be a danger. Jerrari wasn't beaten far when fourth at Wexford last time and can pick up prize-money again.

Gavin Cromwell's horses are in form and MY GOOD PAL could get his head in front after an improved effort at Wexford four days ago.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (12/1 +33%)Nowwhatdoyouthink |
12/1(+33%) | (8) Nowwhatdoyouthink 12/1, Did not get a clear run comfortably held in a beginners chase chase over 2m1f at Tipperary last time; 2m hurdles winner prior; not proven trip; bit to find up in grade on chase debut Won a maiden hurdle in March but then beaten 21l on switch to fences at Tipperary. |

6/1(+8%) | (5) Game On 6/1, Well backed when winning a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick over 2m6f by 4 1/2l last time; steadily progressive hurdler; trip/ground to suit on chase debut; in the mix Improver hurdler now sent chasing; may need good ground so weather needs monitoring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (100/1 -100%)Ennell Shadow |
100/1(-100%) | (4) Ennell Shadow 100/1, Below par comfortably held in a maiden hurdle over 3m at Limerick last time; usually consistent; not proven trip; plenty more needed to figure on chase debut Beaten 20l when running his best race in maiden hurdles (2m6f, heavy); still early days. |

A competitive looking contest and ASPUROFTHEMOMENT may be able to keep his winning run going. The Ocovango gelding has won twice over hurdles after joining Gavin Cromwell having won a point-to-point for Eugene O'Sullivan. He went up to a mark of 120 after his cosy success at Bellewstown last month and that is the top mark for this restricted beginners chase. Plenty of Henry de Bromhead's improve for going chasing and Nouvotic has to be respected having earned a mark of 117 over timber. St Cuthbert's Cave has a hurdles mark of 118 and is another for the shortlist.

This isn't a bad beginners' chase and the suggestion is NOUVOTIC who ran so well in a pretty hot handicap hurdle last time.

14/1(+22%) | (4) Freddie Robdal 14/1, Travelled well when landing a handicap by 1 1/2l off 106 here last time; usually held up; consistent; more needed up in grade and stable second string Won over C&D after break latest, up 6lb but rider takes off 7lb, can't be discounted. |

6th (9) (12/1 +14%)Spellacy's Cross |
12/1(+14%) | (9) Spellacy's Cross 12/1, Bit too much to do fourth beaten 6l in a handicap hurdle at Clonmel latest; versatile ground wise; in good form over fences in winter; bit to find up in grade Went close twice on testing ground in February, decent hurdles run latest, 3lb wrong. |

7th (8) (15/2 +58%)The Little Yank |
15/2(+58%) | (8) The Little Yank 15/2, Back to form beaten 3l off 98 at Cork last time; has tumbled a long way in weights; returning from a break; not out of it 1-28 over fences, off since Cork third in January. |

|PU| (5) (10/3 -11%)Cheerful Chap |
10/3(-11%) | (5) Cheerful Chap 10/3, Second beaten 4 1/2l in Irish Stallion Farms Novice Handicap Chase Final (Listed) over 3m at Navan latest; that just about sets standard; drop down in trip a positive; leading contender Winning hurdler, fine effort in listed novice handicap latest, rain would enhance chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (13/2 -18%)Macinamillion |
13/2(-18%) | (1) Macinamillion 13/2, Probably needed race fourth beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap chase over 2m1f at Tipperary latest; progressive in this sphere; trainer in form; up in trip; threat if stamina holds up Eyecatcher when fell late at Punchestown in Nov', improve for latest, claims up in trip. |

CHEERFUL CHAP won twice over hurdles last year and has been a model of consistency since over fences. The Philip Rothwell-trained gelding has been placed on all five outings since returning last December and only found Canal End too good when stepping up to 3m last time in a valuable Navan handicap. Freddie Robdal returned to form when successful over a similar trip here last time, but it looks significant that Darragh O'Keeffe now partners stablemate She's A Fine Wine. Nt Field Minnesota scored on her chasing debut at Killarney last August but was let down by her jumping when disappointing on both outings since.

CHEERFUL CHAP ran a blinder in a better race than this last time out and he may be able to gain his first chase win off just 2lb higher

17/2(+6%) | (9) Diamond Tipp 17/2, Probably needed race down the field in a Mares bumper here most recent; in good form prior; sets standard on bumper form; should give a good account Disappointing here in April when 100-30 after running well in her three previous bumpers. |

11th (2) (28/1 +30%)Jolly Boys Outing |
28/1(+30%) | (2) Jolly Boys Outing 28/1, Pulled up in a maiden point over 3m at Stradbally latest; tongue-tie first time; back in trip; all to do Failed to complete any of his three points so very opposable on Rules' debut; tongue tied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (7/2 +0%)Rapid Redemption |
7/2(+0%) | (7) Rapid Redemption 7/2, 15,000 euros Doyen gelding; half-brother to Nicolas Chauvin, very useful at 16f; top trainer; market should reveal more Doyen gelding who cost 15,000euros as a yearling; brother to a Listed bumper winner. |

NADIA'S BOY won a point-to-point for Aidan Fitzgerald at Ballysteen last year and now makes his debut under Rules for the champion trainer. The selection is by Getaway out of a winning daughter of King's Theatre and market support would add to confidence. Gordon Elliott introduces Rapid Redemption and the Doyen gelding is from the family of two useful bumper performers, while Look And Sea is another interesting newcomer being out of the Montjeu mare Inquisitive Look who has already produced the smart Fiddlerontheroof and Ifiwerearichman. Diamond Tipp was runner-up three times in bumpers last year but disappointed here on her reappearance.

Nadia's Boy is of obvious interest but Gordon Elliott introduces a respected newcomer in RAPID REDEMPTION.
Ths is the racecard key.
