1st (1) (1/1 -37%)Baby Kate |
1/1(-37%) | (1) Baby Kate 1/1, Yard won this last year; comfortably held in Quevega Mares Hurdle (Grade 3) at Punchestown last time where outstayed over 2 1/2m; cheekpieces first time; effective 2m-2m2f, acts on soft, good; Listed bumper winner may do better on better ground over hurdles but a big threat down in class here. 2m4f beyond her latest; back in trip here with cheekpieces tried and drops in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (6/5 +40%)Blue Waters |
6/5(+40%) | (2) Blue Waters 6/5, Yard has won 2 of last 5 runnings of race; ran to form comfortably held in Monksfield Novice Hurdle (Grade 3) at Navan last time; returning from a break; top jockey back on board; effective 2m, acts on soft, good; form of hurdle debut had knocks but threat in this class. Back from a break and will need the ground to dry out to be at her best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (13/2 +19%)Eye Of A Tiger |
13/2(+19%) | (3) Eye Of A Tiger 13/2, Fell in a novice chase at Tramore latest when going ok; off a short-break; effective 2m, acts on good; generally consistent over hurdles, needs drop back in grade but conditions a worry. Looks to have it to do at the weights and probably wants better ground. |

BABY KATE is tried in first-time cheekpieces, which might do the trick. A dual bumper winner, including once at Listed level at Cheltenham in November 2023, the seven-year-old has failed to match that level of ability over hurdles, but she is a useful performer who is suited by the distance and contests a winnable race. Blue Waters is rated just 3lb inferior but while she too is a bumper and maiden hurdle winner, she lacks a little of the selection's ability and would prefer better ground. Eye Of A Tiger can get the better of Miss Corby for third place.

This looks a match between BABY KATE and Blue Waters, the former narrowly preferred in first-time cheekpieces

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (14) (33/1 +34%)Dream Shaper |
33/1(+34%) | (14) Dream Shaper 33/1, Fell in a handicap hurdle at Cork latest when beaten; returning from a break; effective 2m, suited by decent ground; exposed maiden, weak finisher. Unplaced in 25 starts; weakening and fell at two out at Cork last time at 66-1; unlikely. |

7/1(+13%) | (12) Carlas Big Jim 7/1, Ran to current form just tiring late on quick reappearance comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Gowran Park last time; effective at around 2 1/2m, wants some cut; out of form. 11lb below last winning mark but has struggled this term; 14l sixth at Gowran latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (12/1 +64%)Free Flow |
12/1(+64%) | (3) Free Flow 12/1, Flattened out after late error down the field in a handicap hurdle at Naas most recent; effective 2m, acts on any; more needed to defy this mark. Thurles m'den hurdle winner last year has found it hard going in h'caps since. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (10) (9/1 +0%)Crafty Gael |
9/1(+0%) | (10) Crafty Gael 9/1, Probably needed race down the field in a handicap hurdle at Naas most recent; in good form prior; absent for very lengthy period; effective 2m, acts on good; generally consistent before lay off. 0-12 but placed several times; best watched after long absence and heavy ground won't suit. |

LENJOLEUR DE PALMA finished a good second in a Listed handicap here during Christmas and that form stands out. Eric McNamara's top-weight initially shaped with some promise in the UK but has shown improvement on his Irish starts and while he hasn't raced since December, he is open to further progression and seems ground-versatile. Donnrua Dream ended a long losing spell here last month and although well beaten subsequently, he is suited by testing ground. Eight-year-old winning pointer Crohan Lady ran well at Thurles last month and now goes for a different trainer.

A C&D winner before running a career best when runner-up in a Listed contest when last seen, LENJOLEUR DE PALMA can bag another win

2/5(+35%) | (1) Dani Donadoni 2/5, Yard won this last year; ran to form when second beaten 2 1/4l in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown latest; effective 2m-2m4f acts on heavy and good; bumper form very strong, frustrating but sets good standard. Bumper winner has struggled to make breakthrough over timber; this is a good opportunity. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (16/5 -28%)Doctor Elvis |
16/5(-28%) | (2) Doctor Elvis 16/5, Improved when second beaten 2 1/2l in a maiden hurdle at Naas latest; effective at 2m-2m3f on soft; should find a race soon for top yard. Improved with each run since return from mammoth absence; runner-up last time; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

8/1(+20%) | (3) Freddie's Back 8/1, Improved for debut experience when fourth beaten 17l in a maiden hurdle here latest; off a short-break; effective 2m5f, acts on soft; point winner, latest hurdles form very strong. Point winner is entitled to come on from decent fourth in a m'den hurdle here in Dec'. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6/1 +50%)Jack The Lad |
6/1(+50%) | (4) Jack The Lad 6/1, Promising debut when fourth beaten 34l in a maiden hurdle at Navan latest; effective at around 2 1/2m, suited by cut; point winner showed promise in bumpers, more to come over hurdles. Bought for 120,000GBP after easy point win; placed in bumpers but poor hurdle debut latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (200/1 -400%)Lord De Choisel |

7th (8) (150/1 -50%)Theran |
150/1(-50%) | (8) Theran 150/1, Found little on modest debut on testing ground down the field in a maiden hurdle at Gowran Park most recent; effective 2m, acts on good; may need more time over hurdles. Showed little on bumper debut and tailed off on first try over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (66/1 0%)Jenny's Bar |
66/1(0%) | (9) Jenny's Bar 66/1, Outpaced, never threatened well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Gowran Park only start; longer trip could suit but all to prove. Tailed off at Gowran on debut 15 days ago (2m, heavy); likely to need more time. |

Course bumper winner DANI DONADONI has useful recent form and is suited by conditions. Placed fourth in a Punchestown Festival bumper last May, Willie Mullins' gelding has been frustrating to follow over hurdles but has bumped into some smart types and should take all the beating. Lightly-raced seven-year-old Doctor Elvis returned following 792 days off in January but although he has come to full fitness and shown form, he might struggle to beat the selection, who is rated 7lb higher. UK point-to-point winner Jack The Lad disappointed on his reappearance last month, but showed promise in smart bumpers last season.

Appears a match between DANI DONADONI and Doctor Elvis with preference given to the latter following some decent runs in defeat

Won here at Christmas; respected back chasing, especially if ground remains testing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (12/1 -60%)Caesar Rock |

Didn't seem to stay 3m at Christmas and back in trip here; yard back in form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (4/1 +11%)Miss Pronunciation |
4/1(+11%) | (5) Miss Pronunciation 4/1, Possibly outstayed late when fourth beaten 14l in a handicap chase at Punchestown latest; top jockey back on board; effective 2-2 1/2m; mark looks about right. Better hurdler but looks on a nice chase mark now; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (15/2 +32%)Supreme Gift |
15/2(+32%) | (4) Supreme Gift 15/2, Needed run and found ground too testing on chase debut well beaten in a handicap chase at Navan latest; effective 3m, wants decent ground; fair mark on old UK form. Better for recent comeback and yard debut run; better treated over fences than hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (4/1 -33%)Mount Frisco |
4/1(-33%) | (8) Mount Frisco 4/1, Scored by 20l off a 10lb lower mark at Clonmel penultimate start; enjoys making it; effective around 2m-2m4f, acts with cut; back in form and remains on workable mark. Good form of late; down in grade and has to be considered a leading player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (11/2 -10%)Linden Arden |
11/2(-10%) | (1) Linden Arden 11/2, Won this last year off 5lb lower; scored by 1 1/2l off a 5lb lower mark at Punchestown three starts back; outclassed when comfortably held in the QuinnBet Hurdle last time; effective at around 2 1/2m, acts on any; inconsistent but a threat. Last year's winner in good form hurdling this term; has to be respected back chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (14/1 +30%)Pride Of Place |
14/1(+30%) | (3) Pride Of Place 14/1, Unsuited by testing ground down the field in a handicap chase at Thurles most recent; suited by 3m on G; capable of better over further on spring ground but conditions a worry. Well held on softer ground of late so would appreciate drying; trip on the short side. |

MOUNT FRISCO has been running consistently well and will be suited by stepping back up in distance. While drying ground conditions aren't ideal, his recent form is good and having beaten subsequent Cheltenham fifth Beckett Rock to win at Gowran in February, he scored over hurdles at Clonmel before finishing a useful third back in this sphere at Gowran. He has bottom weight and is dependable. The veteran Krabat has also been running well and loves testing conditions, while Miss Pronunciation hasn't won for two years but went well enough at Punchestown last month.

In good form of late, MOUNT FRISCO can resume winning ways back at a more suitable trip and racing off his correct mark

8/11(+0%) | (4) Uhavemeinstitches 8/11, Unseated in Leinster National (Listed) at Naas latest when well fancied; has run well at Grade 2 level here; top jockey back on board; effective 2 1/2m, acts on soft, good; progressive over fences and should be tough to beat. Unseated early in Leinster National on latest but major player back against her own sex. |

2nd (1) (2/1 -60%)You Oughta Know |
2/1(-60%) | (1) You Oughta Know 2/1, Yard won this last year; pulled up in Leopardstown Handicap Chase (Grade 3) at Leopardstown latest; top jockey back on board; acts on soft, good, effective 2 1/2m; form had knocks but threat if bringing best. Poor runs in Leopardstown handicaps of late but drop in class makes her a leading player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (15/2 +77%)Slotty Dotty |
15/2(+77%) | (3) Slotty Dotty 15/2, Returned to form up in trip just beaten by unexposed strong stayer when second beaten 6 1/2l in a handicap chase at Leopardstown latest; effective 2 3/4-3 1/2m, suited by give; unreliable; vulnerable in this grade. Recent Leopardstown handicap second encouraging but tough task at the weights here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (14/1 +0%)Ad Caelum |
14/1(+0%) | (2) Ad Caelum 14/1, Outclassed, ran to form comfortably held in Carey Glass Mares Novice Chase (Grade 2) at Thurles last time; off a short-break; effective 2 1/2-3m, wants decent ground; needs step up in trip but bit to find at this level. 0-7 chasing and good bit to find with a couple of these on ratings. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

UHAVEMEINSTITCHES was Grade 2-placed here during Christmas and her overall form reads well. Out of Irish National winner Bluesea Cracker, she won a course maiden hurdle in December 2024 and while she unseated her rider on her most recent start, she previously finished third to the brilliant Dinoblue and chased home The Big Westerner and Jade De Grugy prior to that. You Oughta Know has 2lb in hand at these weights, but his form is in-and-out and he prefers good ground. Dublin National runner-up Slotty Dotty has better recent form than four-time winner Ad Caelum.

A disappointing turnout but perhaps a good opportunity for UHAVEMEINSTITCHES, her good third here at Christmas the pick of recent form

Coughing when very disappointing here at Christmas; cheekpieces tried and upped in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (9/2 +55%)Prophet's Corner |
9/2(+55%) | (3) Prophet's Corner 9/2, Ran to form, did plenty early comfortably held in Leinster National (Listed) at Naas last time; effective at around 3m, acts with cut; yet to match hurdles form over fences. Very stiff task latest from out of handicap; drops in class so don't rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (17/2 +15%)Midweek Voices |
17/2(+15%) | (5) Midweek Voices 17/2, Made bit too much use of in first time cheekpieces comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Gowran Park last time; effective 2 1/2m, acts on soft; fair mark on chase form, must bounce back. Mildly more encouraging run in first-time cheekpieces last time; still others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (14/1 -409%)Favori Logique |
14/1(-409%) | (6) Favori Logique 14/1, Travelled best but fitness gave way late back from long lay off 7 1/2l third in a handicap chase at Leopardstown most recent run; effective 2 1/2m, just about gets 3m, acts on soft and good; well treated on old form, could build on return. Fine recent comeback run makes him a major player if backing it up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (28/1 +15%)Baldur's Gate |
28/1(+15%) | (8) Baldur's Gate 28/1, Disappointing in first time cheekpieces down the field in a handicap chase at Wexford most recent; effective 2m4f-3m2f, suited by plenty of cut; in poor form since returning from break. Amateur-ridden when below-par of late, senior professional now takes over. |

BANTER AT THE BAR was pulled up in a recent outing but had an excuse then and remains unexposed. Out of a Grade 1-winning mare, the selection was a good point-to-point winner on debut in 2024 and while lightly raced since, won well at Punchestown in January. He lost his right front shoe when pulled up at Navan last month and has dropped 3lb following that run. Veteran Favori Logique returned following 573 days off when third at Leopardstown recently and should be noted, while Clonmeen was fourth at Fairyhouse last month and now runs in first-time blinkers.

Quite an open-looking handicap with slight preference for the 11yo FAVORI LOGIQUE after a promising recent return from a long lay-off

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

COOLE CAFE has already won an academy hurdle as well as a bumper and escapes a penalty in this Listed race. Flat-bred, the selection defeated Apache Peak last month and meets that rival on the same terms. Cinating showed ability when finishing third at Leopardstown recently, while Brady Hartsfield finished a useful second, and a long way clear of the remainder, at Punchestown last month.

Having shown a tidy turn of foot to beat Apache Peak at Naas last month COOLE CAFE (nap) looks the one to beat
