1st (5) (9/1 -6%)Lenny's Spirit |
9/1(-6%) | (5) Lenny's Spirit 9/1, Form on the AW was ok prior to slightly below par effort on turf final start of 2024; down in trip and may need run on reappearance Went winless last year and makes stable debut after a lengthy absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 +68%)Meet Me In Meraki |
9/2(+68%) | (3) Meet Me In Meraki 9/2, Beaten about 3l off 63 at Bath penultimate start, but well below that in an amateurs' race last time; had generally been consistent and mark is attractive if can get back to form Capable but prone to the odd off-day and had two of those in his last three starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (1/2 +40%)Golden Phase |
1/2(+40%) | (1) Golden Phase 1/2, Very consistent and ran to form beaten a head off 61 at Salisbury on seasonal debut; entitled to come on a bit for that and looks the one to beat Beaten only narrowly by a determined rival at Salisbury and that was in a Class 5. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/1 -33%)Birthday Angel |
10/1(-33%) | (4) Birthday Angel 10/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 2m at Warwick latest when saddle slipped; in fair form on the AW before that and mark is very reasonable but needs a return to form Remains quite lightly raced and probably has a race in him off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (13/2 -117%)Jungle Cruise |
13/2(-117%) | (2) Jungle Cruise 13/2, Yarmouth winner off 57 penultimate start, but below par there last time dropped back from 10f to a mile; up in trip here and contender at best Won over this far at Yarmouth and got little cover when below par back there 17 days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

GOLDEN PHASE hit the crossbar in a class 5 handicap at Salisbury at the start of the month and the assessor may have been kind to only put her up 2lb. Denis Coakley's mare brings the best recent form to the table and can regain the winning thread. Jungle Cruise struck at Yarmouth prior to disappointing at the same venue last time, but he may be worth another chance. Of the remainder, Meet Me In Meraki makes the most appeal.

There's plenty to like about GOLDEN PHASE who enjoys this fast ground and she went close in a higher grade last time.

1st (5) (11/4 +8%)Odin Legacy |
11/4(+8%) | (5) Odin Legacy 11/4, Well backed when scored by a head off 73 over 10f at Salisbury penultimate start and similar form up 3lb last time; every reason to believe will be therebaouts Fourth of 12 at Windsor (11.4f, good to firm) 12 days ago; close to Cavalry Call on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (6/1 +14%)Appier |
6/1(+14%) | (3) Appier 6/1, Bit below par 6 1/4l third in a handicap here most recent run on the AW; slightly better effort on seasonal debut previous start on turf; handles fast ground, but this trip on sharp side Good record over 1m4f on AW at this track but there's been no turf win since June 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (3/1 +14%)Papagei |
3/1(+14%) | (2) Papagei 3/1, Out of character when down the field in a handicap at York most recent start; in good form prior; trainer in form; competitive mark and in the mix Needs to bounce back from a poor show when co-second favourite at York 17 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/1 -100%)Ninth Life |
10/1(-100%) | (4) Ninth Life 10/1, Too keen beaten 7l in a handicap over 10f at Newcastle last time. but in good form prior to that on the AW; just as good on turf; up in trip, but stays and unproven on fast ground, but has action for it; can contend Absent 386 days before this term; close third at Chelmsford but a lesser effort last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (15/8 +17%)Cavalry Call |
15/8(+17%) | (1) Cavalry Call 15/8, Scored by 1 1/4l off 75 over 10f at Chelmsford penultimate start; backed that up second beaten 3/4l off 78 last time; ultra-consistent, effective on fast ground despite action and should go close A win and three 2nds from last four outings; latest was 11.6f on good to firm at Windsor. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

CAVALRY CALL hasn't finished outside of the first two home on each of his last four starts, winning once and finishing a good second at Windsor on his most recent outing. The four-year-old is only 1lb higher and it would be no surprise to see him continue his brilliant form. Appier made the frame on the all-weather here last month and is noted along with Odin Legacy.

Odin Legacy found CAVALRY CALL a little too good for him at Windsor. Papagei is feared given what he did prior to York.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (80/1 -60%)Ocean Pie |
80/1(-60%) | (4) Ocean Pie 80/1, Well beaten in a maiden at Leicester only start; all to prove Well held at Leicester on debut three weeks ago; a big leap forward is needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Shine On Me changed hands for 160,000 pounds last month and it would be interesting if the market speaks in favour of the Havana Grey filly on debut. However, TWILIGHT STAR progressed from her first start when finishing second at Newmarket last time, and she may have lots more to offer. With Charlie Appleby's string in fine order at present, she looks the way to go. Justice Twice is noted too.

Justice Twice and Twilight Star set a good standard but QUEEN EVIE is bred to be quick and can make a winning debut,

1st (4) (4/1 +11%)Paroda Diva |
4/1(+11%) | (4) Paroda Diva 4/1, Steadily improving and only beaten 4l in a maiden over 6f at Windsor last time despite being 7th; up in trip and may improve for it and run well Form to date little better than modest; vulnerable to above-average newcomers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (6/1 -118%)Private Project |
6/1(-118%) | (5) Private Project 6/1, 28 Mar; Churchill filly; half-sister to North Winterfell, useful at 12f; dam half-sister to Group 1 winner Al Kazeem; yard tend to have 2yo's ready first time and can go close Yard not firing in 2yo winners with usual regularity but still respected if backed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

10/3(+76%) | (3) Hazy Cosmic Jane 10/3, Modest effort on debut beaten 9l in a maiden over 6f at Yarmouth; up in trip; should improve, but plenty to find 66-1, beaten 9l when sixth of nine on 6f Yarmouth debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (3/1 -50%)Assaranca |
3/1(-50%) | (1) Assaranca 3/1, 5 Mar; 20,000gns Ghaiyyath filly; dam unraced half-sister to numerous winners; trainer in form and does well with juveniles Newcomer from a leading stable in good form, including with 2yos. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (11/4 +17%)Elenaya |
11/4(+17%) | (2) Elenaya 11/4, 10 Apr; 72,000gns New Bay filly; half-sister to Encipher, smart at 10f; nicely bred, but may need the experience Makes paper appeal for yard doing well with 2yos; market confidence significant. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Paroda Diva faced a tougher task at Windsor last time and could fare better over this extra furlong. Archie Watson sent out a newcomer to win this contest last year and Private Project is worth noting for any significant support in the market, but a chance is taken on ELENAYA. The daughter of New Bay is related to several winners, including the useful Encipher, and may prove good enough at the first time of asking.

This will likely to go one of the newcomers, with preference for ELENAYA before betting clues are known.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (8/1 +0%)Jet Packer |
8/1(+0%) | (7) Jet Packer 8/1, Ran to form beaten 3 1/2l off 72 at Windsor last time and seems generally quite consistent; not badly treated at the weights, may just be a fraction better at a mile Best effort of the season when third at Windsor 19 days ago; no forlorn hope eased 1lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

33/1(-65%) | (3) Geo 33/1, Appeared not to stay down the field in a handicap over 9f at Epsom most recent run; cheekpieces first time; probably do a bit better dropped back in distance here Ill at ease on the track when 11th at Epsom on return; can bounce back with cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (40/1 -43%)Shimaleyah |
40/1(-43%) | (6) Shimaleyah 40/1, Slowly away down the field in a handicap at Doncaster on handicap debut; decent maiden and novice form and mark has eased a bit, but something to prove now Last of ten on turf/handicap debut at Doncaster four weeks ago; she has something to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (10/1 -100%)Havana Whisper |
10/1(-100%) | (11) Havana Whisper 10/1, Improved up in trip to a mile beaten 3 1/4l off 67 at Nottingham last time; cheekpieces first time; top course trainer; looks stiff task at the weights Good Nottingham fourth latest, faring best of those who contested strong pace; considered. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Knights Gold failed in his bid for a hat-trick when only third at Newcastle. He had beaten the runner-up TOLERANCE by a length at Leicester prior to that, but George Boughey's charge is fancied to turn the tables on these more favourable terms, and open his account. Blue Wonder finished a creditable second in a novice race at Haydock and the daughter of Blue Point is likely to show further improvement on her handicap debut.

A few with chances but KNIGHTS GOLD (nap) continues on the up and is taken to resume winning ways after an excellent Newcastle third

14/1(-27%) | (2) Land Of Magic 14/1, Probably needed race down the field in a handicap over 6f at Ascot on seasonal debut; fair mark based on solid form last season, but does seem to want give in the ground Looked rusty when last at Ascot three weeks ago; he can take a step forward now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/4 -57%)City Cyclone |
11/4(-57%) | (1) City Cyclone 11/4, Back to best when landing a handicap by 1 1/4l off 70 at Wolverhampton last time; action suggests may not relish fast ground, but in the mix Won at Wolverhampton 12 days ago; up 3lb but a likely player once more back on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (5/1 +29%)Francisco |
5/1(+29%) | (6) Francisco 5/1, Game when scored by 1/2l off 61 at Wolverhampton penultimate start; well below that off same mark last time dropped to 6f; back up in trip; unproven on fast ground, but actions suggests will handle it Won on AW but a below-par sixth at Chepstow (6f) 18 days ago; he needs to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (8/1 -14%)Harbour Vision |
8/1(-14%) | (7) Harbour Vision 8/1, Ran to form beaten 1 1/2l off 63 at Wolverhampton last time and has generally running very well of late; obvious chance though little suspicion may be better on AW Below his best on a rare turf outing when third at Brighton in May; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (2/1 +27%)Thapa Vc |
2/1(+27%) | (3) Thapa Vc 2/1, Well backed when outstaying rivals to win a handicap by 1/2l off 67 over 8f at Bath last time on firm ground; drop in trip on this sharp track is a bit of a worry, but competitively weighted Resumed winning ways at Bath 26 days ago; up 2lb but not taken lightly in his current mood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (9/2 +36%)Wilde And Dandy |
9/2(+36%) | (4) Wilde And Dandy 9/2, Ran to current level beaten 2 1/4l off 66 over 8f at Thirsk last time; down in trip, but seems equally effective at it; may out-run odds Arrives in decent nick, seventh at Thirsk four weeks ago; he's one for the shortlist. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CITY CYCLONE was able to atone for a narrow all-weather defeat here when winning in comfortable fashion at Wolverhampton recently. Tony Caroll's charge must defy a career-high mark to follow up but he's thriving at present and gets the nod. Bath scorer Thapa VC remains well treated and is respected, along with Land Of Magic, who will find this easier than her latest Ascot assignment.

Tony Carroll's likeable CITY CYCLONE remains handily weighted despite a 3lb rise for his latest AW win and is taken to go in again

2/1(-7%) | (6) Mart 2/1, Ran to form beaten a head off 70 here last time; races off the same mark and every reason to believe will go very close again Six-time winner on a good mark; just missed out over C&D latest; in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (3/1 +63%)Minnesota Lad |
3/1(+63%) | (5) Minnesota Lad 3/1, Appeared not to stay down the field in a handicap over 7f at York most recent start; generally out of form prior to that though; return to 6f and falling mark may help Modest strike-rate but down in the weights and this looks more suitable than last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/2 -144%)Bint Havana Gold |
11/2(-144%) | (4) Bint Havana Gold 11/2, Well backed when scored by 1 1/2l off 65 over 7f at Chelmsford penultimate start and bang to that form beaten 1 1/4l off 70 last time; probably just as good on turf and should be right there at the line Two AW wins over 7f this year; good second back at 6f latest; unexposed on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (7/2 +50%)Danger Alert |
7/2(+50%) | (1) Danger Alert 7/2, Raced a bit freely fourth beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap at Kempton latest; bit better effort on seasonal debut previous start and if settles is entitled to come on a bit On a losing run but down in class with good apprentice booked; slower ground preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (6/1 +8%)Spanish Star |
6/1(+8%) | (3) Spanish Star 6/1, Probably needed race beaten 9 1/2l in a handicap at Ascot on reappearance; out of form at the end of 2024 and mark looks a bit stiff Not a solid option but sharper for his reappearance and on a paltry mark these days. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Bint Havana Gold has been in fine fettle recently. 2lb higher than when filling the runner-up spot at Chelmsford earlier this month, the daughter of Havana Gold can give another good account of herself, although it is MART who shades preference. Dylan Cunha's gelding bumped into an in-form rival when beaten a head over C&D last time and is expected to go very close off an unchanged mark. Danger Alert drops in class and must not be underestimated.

All six have claims but SOVEREIGN KNIGHT will appreciate the ease in class and is just preferred to Bint Havana Gold.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
