1st (1) (5/2 +44%)Hopes Are High |
5/2(+44%) | (1) Hopes Are High 5/2, Solid effort under a penalty when stamina gave way late, finishing 15l third in a juvenile hurdle over 2m1f at Down Royal last time. Effective at 2m1f but may not stay further; acts on soft and good; more to come on flat form. 73-rated Flat horse won on hurdling debut but was disappointing last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (13/8 -18%)Whats New |
13/8(-18%) | (7) Whats New 13/8, Won cosily back on easy ground when taking a 12f handicap at Roscommon by 3 1/2l last time. Progressive over middle distances on the flat; ran well on hurdling debut and should progress further. Winner of Flat h'cap last time; booked for second on hurdle debut but fell at last; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (22/1 -100%)Gforcejenny |
22/1(-100%) | (8) Gforcejenny 22/1, Made mistakes and was comfortably held on hurdle debut in a maiden hurdle over 2m2f at Ballinrobe last time. Had been in good form prior; effective over 11f on the flat, may stay further, acts on good; more to come over hurdles. Okay Flat runs but disappointing hurdling debut last time; needs more to win this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (33/1 +34%)Masego |
33/1(+34%) | (5) Masego 33/1, Keen, made mistakes and was made too much use of when comfortably held in a juvenile hurdle over 2m1f at Down Royal last time. Yet to show anything in either code. Has failed to land a blow in seven starts under both codes; hard to see him winning. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (13/2 -117%)Something Noble |
13/2(-117%) | (2) Something Noble 13/2, Promising hurdle debut, benefitting from a pace collapse when winning a maiden hurdle at Killarney over 2m1f by 1 1/2l last time. Returns from a short break; suited by cut and looks a strong stayer at 2m over hurdles. Off the mark immediately over hurdles last time; has a penalty but should be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (12/1 +64%)Crooked Path |
12/1(+64%) | (3) Crooked Path 12/1, No obvious excuse when beaten 6 1/4l in a 12f handicap at Galway last time. Effective from 10-12f but yet to match maiden promise on the flat; has a bit to prove starting out over hurdles. Some okay Flat runs despite not placing leaves rating of 66; hurdling needs to improve him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (25/1 +75%)Thunder Wolf |
25/1(+75%) | (6) Thunder Wolf 25/1, Showed some improvement from debut but was well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m2f at Ballinrobe last time. Effective at 7-9f on the flat but yet to convince with stamina for 2m. Middling Flat runs and well behind in two maiden hurdles; unlikely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (8/1 +0%)Ranting And Raven |
8/1(+0%) | (9) Ranting And Raven 8/1, Ran below form when possibly outstayed up in trip, finishing fourth beaten 6 1/2l in a 1m7f handicap at Leopardstown last time. Hood applied first time. Returns from a short break; effective 12-14f on flat. Now with a good yard and can get involved over hurdles. A couple of placed finishes on Flat; Flat rating of 64 puts her in the mix; hood on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (80/1 +20%)Real Petite |
80/1(+20%) | (10) Real Petite 80/1, Found little when finishing down the field in a 9f handicap at Tipperary most recently. Effective at 8-12f but yet to match winter all-weather maiden efforts on the flat; has a bit to prove over hurdles. Well beaten in six runs on the level and rating of 51 leaves her with a fair bit to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (10/1 -43%)Desmond Castle |
10/1(-43%) | (4) Desmond Castle 10/1, Short of room at a key stage and never threatened when well beaten in a 12f handicap at Galway last time. Returns from a short break; effective up to 12f on the flat and has more to come over hurdles for top connections. Positive efforts in ten Flat runs; interesting contender on stable/hurdles debut. |

WHATS NEW fell at the final flight on his hurdling debut last month and scored on the Flat since. While his initial form was just ordinary, he has run consistently well this year and was running well when lying in second before falling at Killarney. The eventual-third from that race scored subsequently and the selection subsequently improved his Flat rating to 65, with a win at Roscommon. Previous hurdle winners Hopes Are High and Something Noble carry penalties but also have sound form over hurdles.

No standout candidate. Perhaps SOMETHING NOBLE can go in again following his surprise victory on hurdles debut last time

1st (3) (11/1 -22%)Farfromnowhere |
11/1(-22%) | (3) Farfromnowhere 11/1, Made too much use of chasing a clear leader and finished down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Galway most recently. Had been in good form prior. Returns from a short break and may prefer a bit further. Reeled off point, bumper and maiden hurdle victory; poor run last time; needs to improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4/1 +27%)Dream On Baby |
4/1(+27%) | (2) Dream On Baby 4/1, Matched her debut form when second, beaten 4l, in a maiden over 12f at Galway latest. Trainer in form. Proven over 2m2 3/4f hurdles; fair opening hurdles mark and a possible improver in handicaps, worth another chance. Maiden hurdle winner, some decent performances following that inc' on Flat; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/5 +36%)Jalila Moriviere |
4/5(+36%) | (1) Jalila Moriviere 4/5, Yard has won 2 of the last 5 renewals of this race; travelled best but probably went too soon after a series of mistakes, beaten 9l in the Galway Hurdle (G3) over 2m last time. In good form before; fair mark and may do better on easier ground. Three-time winner over hurdles; the choice of Townend and the ground to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (25/1 -14%)Gers Gigi |
25/1(-14%) | (4) Gers Gigi 25/1, Unsuited by how the race developed when 17l third in a mares' hurdle over 2m1f at Bellewstown on her latest start. Looks to want a step up from 2m. Lowest rated and beaten 17l by Adela Icon last time; hard to see her turning that around. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (3/1 -71%)Adela Icon |
3/1(-71%) | (5) Adela Icon 3/1, Yard has won 2 of the last 5 renewals of this race; travelled strongly and quickened clear with ease under a positive ride to win a mares' hurdle at Bellewstown over 2m1f by 13l last time. Handles all ground and is progressing. Super comfortable victor last time; dangerous if allowed soft lead; Townend rides another. |

ADELA ICON is her trainer's apparent second-string but scored stylishly last month and receives some weight from her rivals. A keen-goer, she seemed to benefit from making the running at Bellewstown (Gers Gigi finished third) and while that form is nothing special, the seven-year-old won eased down and is suited by soft ground. Paul Townend rides Jalila Moriviere who also often front-runs, but was set a tough task in making some of the running in the recent Galway Hurdle. She has form on soft and has just 1lb to find with the selection on adjusted ratings. Grade 3-placed Dream On Baby blundered away her chances at Killarney but has recent Flat form and, being a five-year-old, is open to further progression.

The fact that Townend chooses JALILA MORIVIERE swings the vote in favour of her and soft ground will suit nicely

1st (1) (15/2 -25%)Pampar Lady |
15/2(-25%) | (1) Pampar Lady 15/2, Yard won this last year. Did it readily when improving up in trip, appreciating a patient ride off a strong pace to land a handicap by 2l off 104 over 2m3f at Kilbeggan last time. Progressing. Bidding to add to wins at Cork and Kilbeggan, 7lb claimer takes over from Keith Donoghue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (20/1 +39%)Music Of Life |
20/1(+39%) | (8) Music Of Life 20/1, Did not find much, below form up in trip and comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Wexford last time. Returning from a break with a lot to find. Maiden for the late Edward O'Grady, remote fifth on her handicap debut at Wexford in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (12/1 +33%)Ballycashin |
12/1(+33%) | (2) Ballycashin 12/1, Made mistakes and never threatened, ridden to see out the trip but comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m6f at Killarney last time. Usually held up. 1-23 hurdles record is off-putting in a race as competitive as this, not often placed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (14) (5/1 +72%)Hay Baby |
5/1(+72%) | (14) Hay Baby 5/1, Ran to form back down in trip, comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Wexford last time. Wears hood first time, returning from a break. Point winner, out of the money in her first two handicaps, needs to improve, hooded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (17/2 -70%)Sophia Rose |
17/2(-70%) | (5) Sophia Rose 17/2, Yard won this last year. Returned to form under a positive ride when winning a maiden hurdle at Sligo over 2m4f by a neck last time. Effective 2–2 1/2m on good ground; in good form. Just got up to win a maiden over further at Sligo, winning rider now aboard Pampar Lady. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) (6/1 +14%)Polly Poppins |
6/1(+14%) | (13) Polly Poppins 6/1, Hung on a sharp, undulating track but ran to form when beaten a head off 89 over 2m at Tramore last time. May do better at a more conventional venue. Fifth to today's rival Chosen Chant at Wexford before second at Tramore, may be improving. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (8/1 +20%)Watty Show |
8/1(+20%) | (11) Watty Show 8/1, Ran to form but looked in need of a stiffer test, down the field in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Naas most recent. Returning from a long layoff, yet to prove up to current mark. Hard to assess on her maiden form for her former trainer late last year, in a top yard now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (13/2 -136%)Glitz And Glamour |
13/2(-136%) | (6) Glitz And Glamour 13/2, Improved down in grade to win a maiden hurdle at Sligo by a head last time. Effective at 2m, progressive and may do better again when stepped up in trip in handicaps. Narrow winner of a maiden at Sligo, may want further ideally but not without a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (14/1 +0%)Burvea |
14/1(+0%) | (7) Burvea 14/1, Made a bit too much use of when fourth, beaten 21l in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Sligo latest. Off a short break; chance. Has only a maiden win to her name, well beaten in fourth at Sligo on latest, hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (10) (25/1 -56%)Kilashee |
25/1(-56%) | (10) Kilashee 25/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase over 2m1f at Ballinrobe latest. Enjoys making it, on a good mark judged on best form, likes to dominate. Has seldom been at her best since completing a hat-trick in the first half of last season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (16) (11/1 +61%)Sidiriya |
11/1(+61%) | (16) Sidiriya 11/1, Travelled but found little, finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Wexford most recent. On a good mark based on maiden form, may need easier ground. Flat winner, has failed to reach the first three over hurdles, looks held by Chosen Shant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (40/1 -21%)Mountrivers Lass |
40/1(-21%) | (9) Mountrivers Lass 40/1, Ran to form, just flattening out late when back from a break and comfortably held in a maiden hurdle over 2m6f at Ballinrobe last time. Effective 2m4f on soft or good ground, looks limited though should come on for that run. Has failed to make the frame in bumpers/maiden hurdles, not one of the more obvious ones. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (4) (25/1 +24%)Lep Around |
25/1(+24%) | (4) Lep Around 25/1, Outclassed when 33l third in a mares' hurdle over 2m at Limerick on most recent run. Out of form this year. Maiden winner the season before last, hard to fancy on the form she showed last season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (3) (14/1 -115%)Chosen Shant |
14/1(-115%) | (3) Chosen Shant 14/1, Keen, improved again at favoured venue when suited by a stiff test at the trip, landing a handicap by 2l off 100 over 2m1f at Wexford last time. Thriving and versatile trip wise. Took a very long time to open her account and then won again, more on her plate now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (11/1 +31%)Only A Dollar |
11/1(+31%) | (12) Only A Dollar 11/1, Bit below form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Wexford last time. In good form prior. Off a short break. Little of note in her form since a maiden success early last season, others more appealing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) (18/1 -50%)Ar Aghaidh |
18/1(-50%) | (15) Ar Aghaidh 18/1, Back to form in first-time cheekpieces when second, beaten 2l in a maiden hurdle over 3m at Wexford latest. Effective at 3m, point winner who could be well treated back in a handicap on recent maiden win. Long-priced second in a Wexford maiden was encouraging, handicap form less convincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (17) (66/1 -32%)Willuhaveamineral |
66/1(-32%) | (17) Willuhaveamineral 66/1, Poor effort on final qualifying run, down the field in a maiden hurdle over 2m1f at Wexford most recent. Showed little in maidens at 2m and has plenty to prove. Has shown nothing in three starts in maidens, 7lb out of the handicap, can be ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (18) (100/1 0%)You'llfindandsee |
100/1(0%) | (18) You'llfindandsee 100/1, Needed the run when down the field in a handicap over 1m6f at Killarney most recent. Needs to prove ability remains after a long layoff, has not beaten a rival home since. Flat winner in 2019, no sign of ability in two starts this year, 9lb out of the handicap. |

GLITZ AND GLAMOUR steps into a handicap for the first time having won a maiden hurdle last month. Out of a half-sister to useful cross-country chaser Balthazar King, the selection has shown nice ability and while she received weight when scoring at Sligo, is again ridden by her 7lb claimer and has some point-to-point form on easy ground. Sophia Rose similarly won a Sligo maiden last month and is respected, despite the fact she is unproven on soft. Stablemate Pampar Lady might be better suited by good going but has form on easy ground while fellow hat-trick-seeking Chosen Shant is ground-versatile, but runs from a career-high mark.

The 7lb claimed by Eoin Staples may enable PAMPAR LADY to complete a hat-trick. A likely danger is stablemate Sophia Rose

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (14/1 -75%)Soldiers World |
14/1(-75%) | (5) Soldiers World 14/1, Made mistakes and ran green, poor hurdle debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Galway latest. In good form prior; 2m bumper winner effective at 2 1/2m but yet to convince with stamina for further. Second in a bumper at this venue before Wexford win, mid-field on hurdling debut at Galway. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (3/1 +40%)Champagne Kid |
3/1(+40%) | (2) Champagne Kid 3/1, Below form up in grade, made too much use of and was comfortably held in the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel Hurdle over 2m3f at Punchestown last time; returning from a break. Value selection on the balance of form. Course bumper winner, good placed form over hurdles, ran in good company at Punchestown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (16/1 -300%)Rony Has |
16/1(-300%) | (4) Rony Has 16/1, Green but finished well on a promising debut when runner-up, beaten a neck in an Amateurs' bumper over 2m at Worcester. Off a short break; showed promise in bumpers and more to come over hurdles beyond 2m. Went close to winning a bumper at Worcester for Jamie Snowden on debut, trip should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (12/1 +57%)Burren View |
12/1(+57%) | (1) Burren View 12/1, Improved to win a novice at Ballingarry over 3m by 1/2l last time; returning from a break. Point winner who needs to leave the form of his rules debut behind. Two wins in points for Tom Costello, has had time to mature since his only hurdles start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (28/1 -100%)Themanintheanorak |
28/1(-100%) | (6) Themanintheanorak 28/1, Below debut form when stepped up in grade under a penalty, well beaten in a bumper over 2m at Killarney latest. Effective at 2 1/2m on good ground; could bounce back over hurdles. Beat Soldiers World by 6l in a bumper here in June, Killarney run was too bad to be true. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (50/1 +24%)Coillte M C G |
50/1(+24%) | (7) Coillte M C G 50/1, Improved when down in grade, finishing fourth beaten 14l in a maiden hurdle over 2m1f at Cork latest. Effective at 2m and may get a bit further; progressing but needs more to get off the mark. Ordinary form in points, long-priced fourth over 2m1f at Cork marked a big improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (33/1 -408%)Hilltop Duchess |
33/1(-408%) | (10) Hilltop Duchess 33/1, Very promising debut when a 14l winner in a maiden over 3m at Curraghmore. 3m point winner who acts on soft ground; interesting hurdles recruit. Left clear at the last for an easy win in a maiden point in April, decent pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (3/1 +25%)Cocovic |
3/1(+25%) | (3) Cocovic 3/1, Ran to form when second, beaten a neck in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Sligo latest. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m on good and yielding to soft ground; progressing. Rated 12lb below Champagne Kid, sequence of seconds, touched off when odds-on last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (300/1 -200%)Elle Klassycco |
300/1(-200%) | (8) Elle Klassycco 300/1, Never jumped or travelled and was outclassed on chase debut, well beaten in a beginners' chase over 2m2f at Galway latest. Needs to prove ability remains after a long layoff. Second in a bumper for Willie Mullins in 2023, weak form in two runs since her comeback. |

Bumper winner GOOD GIRL KATHLEEN has proven stamina on soft ground and was also twice placed in point-to-points. Winner of a 2m3f bumper in April before finishing in midfield in a smart Punchestown bumper, her recent Down Royal reappearance was useful and has a fine opportunity on hurdling debut. Themanintheanorak defeated Soldiers World in a bumper here in June before disappointing last month and is capable of bouncing back. Another course bumper winner Champagne Kid returns following a summer's break and should be suited by this longer distance.

Pat Collins sends CHAMPAGNE KID on the long journey from Northern Ireland with good prospects of adding to her course bumper win

5/1(-25%) | (2) Birdie Or Bust 5/1, Travelled well but found little back up in trip and was well beaten in a Listed handicap chase over 2m5f at Killarney last time; could figure. Comfortable chase winner in May; poor runs since but O'Keeffe stays loyal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (14/1 +50%)The Electrical Kid |
14/1(+50%) | (7) The Electrical Kid 14/1, Travelled well and ran to form on chase debut, just flattening out late after a break, finishing 11l third in a beginners' chase over 2m4f at Tipperary; off a short break and hurdles form suggests easier ground may suit. Moderate maiden hurdles form and fair third on chase debut; ignored by O'Keeffe. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (3/1 +10%)Hashtag Pretender |
3/1(+10%) | (6) Hashtag Pretender 3/1, Ran to form when flattening out late back from a layoff, finishing second and beaten 8 1/2l in a beginners' chase over 2m1f at Killarney last time; should improve from that debut. Promise in chase debut last time back from a break and likely improvement to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (3/1 +10%)Waterford Whispers |
3/1(+10%) | (8) Waterford Whispers 3/1, Below form when failing to build on debut, well beaten in the Grade 1 Faugheen Novice Chase over 2m3f at Limerick last time; returns from a long layoff but remains a threat. Good hurdles form; okay chase debut but well beaten last time; absent since December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (8/1 -45%)Aspurofthemoment |
8/1(-45%) | (1) Aspurofthemoment 8/1, Travelled cosily and improved back up in trip, though the race fell apart, when winning a handicap chase at Galway by 3/4l last time; progressive and stays up to 3m. Immediate winner over fences and cosy Galway winner last time; unsuited by race conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (5/1 +69%)Blaze The Way |
5/1(+69%) | (5) Blaze The Way 5/1, Failed to find as much as expected and was comfortably held in a beginners' chase over 3m at Tipperary last time; had been in good form prior and returns from a break; may contend. 127 rated over hurdles; winner in December over timber; faded tamely on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (17/2 -13%)Solsbury Hill |
17/2(-13%) | (4) Solsbury Hill 17/2, Improved on chase debut, where his fitness edge told as the race fell apart, winning a beginners' chase at Roscommon over 2m1f by 11l last time; needs to confirm that messy debut success. Ultra easy victor on chasing debut despite moderate hurdles form; here lies a bigger test. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (15/2 -7%)Macinamillion |
15/2(-7%) | (3) Macinamillion 15/2, Improved down in trip in first-time cheekpieces and, aided by late drama, won a handicap chase at Downpatrick by 1 1/2l last time; progressing over fences. Got first chase win last time at seventh attempt; rider claims 7lb which puts him in mix. |

Henry de Bromhead saddles three runners and WATERFORD WHISPERS may prove the one to beat. The Westerner gelding was a useful sort over hurdles winning twice and filling the runner-up spot in the Martin Pipe at the Cheltenham Festival. He made an encouraging start over fences when beating all bar Ile Atlantique at Navan and has been absent since weakening in the straight in a Grade 1 at Limerick last Christmas. Solsbury Hill won easily at Roscommon and looks like he'll be better over fences than hurdles, while Hashtag Pretender also put in a solid effort on his chasing debut last time.

O'Keeffe chooses Birdie Or Bust from the yard's three runners but the tentative vote goes to HASHTAG PRETENDER

13/2(-86%) | (7) Jasko Des Dames 13/2, Below form when down the field in a 2m Listed handicap chase at Punchestown most recently; returning from a break. Made little impression at the Punchestown festival, fair chance on his Grand Annual fifth. |

14/1(+13%) | (6) Gaelic Arc 14/1, Pulled up in a 2m5f Listed handicap chase at Killarney last time; unreliable and stiff mark. Two good runs back-to-back before finding things too demanding at Galway and Killarney. |

11th (11) (25/1 -25%)The Dara Man |
25/1(-25%) | (11) The Dara Man 25/1, Pulled up in a 2m4f handicap chase at Kilbeggan last time; effective 2–2 1/2m, handles any ground; dropping in the weights and likes to dominate. Well held by Embittered on running three starts ago, 2lb out of the handicap. |

EMBITTERED is a Grade 3 winner over fences and held a career high mark of 147 following a valuable handicap win at Navan nearly two years ago. He's returned to winning ways this season and easily beat Prince Of Air over a similar trip at Killarney last month, with The Dara Man back in fourth. Jasko Des Dames won twice over fences last term and is an obvious threat. He wasn't helped by a mistake at the last when a creditable fifth behind Jazzy Matty in the Grand Annual at the Cheltenham Festival, but any further rain may spoil his chance. The Banger Doyle is a consistent sort in this grade and was second to the progressive Solness in this race 12 months ago.

There was plenty of drama involved when BATTLE OF RIDGEWAY won at Wexford. He would have been an unlucky loser and can defy a 5lb rise

Willie and Patrick Mullins have teamed up to land this race three times in the past four years and may have the answer again with LADY LENA. The daughter of Flemensfirth is a half-sister to Park Of Kings, a useful three-time winner over hurdles for Paul Nolan. Tomthescaffolder is a brother to two winners and commands respect, while Hillfort Manor and State Pension are other newcomers to keep a close eye on for market moves. Casterly Rock showed promise in three outings earlier this year, while Max Goodwin and Ozark's Walk were both placed last month.

Debutantes TOMTHESCAFFOLDER and Lady Lena catch the eye with token preference given to the former. The market can prove invaluable
