Tom Midgley partnered SPOT ON SOPH to success in the corresponding event 12 months ago and the pair are fancied to repeat the dose, for a team that have been amongst the winners lately. She was dropped 2lb in the handicap having finished third on her reappearance at Cartmel, and is now back on her last winning mark. Lord Warburton won here in September and he could go well despite being 1lb out of the handicap, while Lone Star can't be overlooked following wind surgery.

A good comeback run should have put last year's winner SPOT ON SOPH (nap) just right, though Lone Star might run her closer.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

It's Only Fun achieved a peak rating of 77 on the Flat and would be a real threat if taking to this new discipline, but SUPER BEE preferred. A winner over 1m4f at Nantes when trained in France, she might be the one to beat now tackling an obstacle for the first time. Others to note include Olivia Jane and Resilient Lady.

Soft-ground 1m4f French claimer-winning SUPER BEE ought not mind any rain, and gets the nod ahead of It's Only Fun.

3rd (3) (22/1 -57%)Au Fleuron |
22/1(-57%) | (3) Au Fleuron 22/1, Refused in a hunter chase over 4m at Cheltenham latest; point winner last year but out of form under rules for some time; hard to fancy Signed off on a low note in Ireland; hasn't shone on either Cheltenham visit since.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Genois takes a drop in class following a below-par effort at Newcastle in April, but he won off 6lb higher at Wetherby in November and should not be written off. SMUGGLERS HAVEN is progressive, though, and she's fancied to go one place better having struck the woodwork on her chasing bow at Plumpton recently. Abingworth is another to consider, but he would need a career-best performance from his current mark.

The bold front-running style and spare stamina of SMUGGLERS HAVEN is taken to place Abingworth's jumping technique under strain.

4th (3) (10/3 -21%)Reach For The Moon |
10/3(-21%) | (3) Reach For The Moon 10/3, Seemed to be on stiff mark down the field in a handicap hurdle over 1m7f at Wincanton most recent; in good form prior; trainer in form; should be capable of better judged on flat form but risky Retains major handicapping scope judged on his smart Flat form; chance if fully wound up.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ROXANNE appeared to be going well when coming to grief two from home at Ffos Las last month, and she could gain compensation if none the worse for that tumble. Stepping into a handicap for the first time, a mark of 113 might prove lenient for the daughter of Soldier Hollow. She is preferred to Max Of Stars, who must shoulder a penalty having recorded an impressive victory at Southwell last Tuesday. Reach For The Moon can pick up the pieces if either of the aforementioned pair falter.

Questions to answer for Roxanne and Reach For The Moon swing the balance instead towards MAX OF STARS, although penalised.

|PU| (2) (9/1 -64%)Clean Getaway |
9/1(-64%) | (2) Clean Getaway 9/1, Well backed second beaten 7 1/2l in a handicap chase over 2m at Sedgefield latest; steadily progressive; consistent; contender Won two here last summer before Sedgefield four-timer; career-best RPR in defeat latest.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

An eye-catching third on his first run for the James Owen stable last week when keeping on from off the pace over 2m3f at Worcester, GREENROCK ABBEY could take another step forward to score from 19lb below his last winning mark. The admirably consistent We Got Your Back is entitled to be thereabouts again, along with Clean Getaway, who bounced back to form with a creditable second at Sedgefield last month.

Bankable marks and (if required) effectiveness with cut gain GREENROCK ABBEY and Flash In The Park preference, in that order.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CASTING ASPERSIONS has been a revelation since joining the Fergal O'Brien stable in March, and a 7lb rise for his latest success at Ludlow might not be enough to prevent the rejuvenated six-year-old from landing the hat-trick. It could be at the main expense of Star Vantage, who was raised just 1lb having finished a highly-encouraging second over 2m6f at Cartmel last month. Galway Reel (second) has 13 lengths to make up with the selection from that Ludlow contest, but a swing in the weights could help to close the gap.

This looks a good opportunity for CASTING ASPERSIONS to land his third success at the chief expense of Star Vantage.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
