10/11(+17%) | (3) Red Oak 10/11, Bit keen, promising debut when second beaten 6l in the Introductory Hurdle over 2m at Ascot latest; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on G; good chance in this. Another good run when second on hurdle debut at Ascot and he holds leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/6 -15%)Timefortom |
5/6(-15%) | (4) Timefortom 5/6, Very promising hurdles debut when second beaten a short-head in a novice hurdle over 2m5f at Kelso latest; effective 2m5f, acts on G; more to come, big chance. Point winner; form of hurdle debut near-miss at Kelso has been franked; key player. |

3rd (1) (80/1 -21%)Elusive Warrior |
80/1(-21%) | (1) Elusive Warrior 80/1, Again ran to moderate level when down the field in a novice hurdle over 2m at Ayr most recent; yet to find suitable conditions; showed nothing in bumpers or over hurdles. Well beaten in both bumpers; same story on his two hurdle runs. |

4th (2) (80/1 -21%)Lyndon Red |
80/1(-21%) | (2) Lyndon Red 80/1, Stepped back from a modest hurdles debut when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Kelso most recently. Yet to find suitable conditions and has all to prove having shown little so far. He's shown little across his four starts, hurdling on last two runs. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

There are four declared for this maiden hurdle opener but it's essentially a match between RED OAK and Timefortom. The former gets the nod on the basis that he shaped with promise when second behind a potentially smart horse at Ascot on his hurdling debut. Timefortom filled the same position at Kelso and will certainly give the selection plenty to think about. Elusive Warrior and Lyndon Red need more.

Timefortom is respected but RED OAK kept previous Grade 2 runner-up Doctor Blue honest at Ascot and edges preference.

|PU| (9) (300/1 -355%)King Gold Boy |
300/1(-355%) | (9) King Gold Boy 300/1, Too keen and showed little when well beaten in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Perth last time. Yet to find suitable conditions over hurdles and hard to fancy. Not shown much in bumpers or over hurdles including on h'cap debut with cheekpieces tried. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

NEWPORT could edge a tight contest if building on an improved display at Sedgefield last month. Irish point-to-point winner Magic Gloves should also have a say in proceedings now going handicapping for the first time and she's very much respected for a top yard. Of the others, keep a close eye on Perth maiden runner-up Gonnino, Bunker Bay and Crimson Road.

A chance is taken on BUNKER BAY, who hasn't shown much over hurdles but has some fair races on the Flat this year.

2nd (1) (5/2 -54%)Disguisedlimit |
5/2(-54%) | (1) Disguisedlimit 5/2, Made a promising chase debut when upped in trip and beaten 3 1/4l off a mark of 107 at Newcastle last time. Effective between 2m and 2m4f on good to soft or good ground. Up 2lb but capable of better. Promising second on chase/stable debut at Newcastle and this unexposed 6yo is a key player. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SLEEPING SATELLITE has been found another very winnable opening. He's got the bit between his teeth at the moment having won two of his last three starts at Stratford and Catterick. He might be able to dominate again in this small field and gets a confident vote ahead of Newcastle second Disguisedlimit. Dunnet Head can beat Rossbridge for third place.

Having won a shade cosily at Catterick last month, SLEEPING SATELLITE (nap) can make it three wins from his last four starts.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (6/1 +63%)Cage Rattler |
6/1(+63%) | (7) Cage Rattler 6/1, Best work late, little below form when fourth beaten 15l in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f here latest; effective 2m-2m4f, acts best on sound surface; generally consistent maiden. 5yo who is on a reduced mark but 0-10 over hurdles and needs to prove his stamina. |

|PU| (1) (10/3 +26%)Travis Wheatley |
10/3(+26%) | (1) Travis Wheatley 10/3, Below form, needed run when fourth beaten 10l in a handicap hurdle over 2m at Kelso latest; trainer in form; effective at 2m, acts on S, G; step back up in trip may help. Lightly raced 2m4f point winner who has stamina in his family and goes up in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Travis Wheatley is entitled to have come forward for his reappearance fourth at Kelso and is noted, but giving weight to the in-form YOU DID makes this a tough task. Brian Ellison's charge won at Hexham and backed that performance up with a solid second at Market Rasen latest. Those looking for a bit of each-way value should consider Star Vantage.

Two-time point winner SLIEVEHILL should relish the step up in trip on his handicap debut and is the selection ahead of You Did

WEARELONGTERM disappointed favourite backers at Kelso latest but was beaten less than a length on that occasion and can reward those who keep the faith if producing a similar performance. Course scorer Reflection Of You must have a good chance judged on recent form and you can also make a good case for Benefit Ben, who won over timber a couple of starts ago.

In an open race it could be worth taking a chance on DR SHIROCCO returning to winning ways on a track where he has a good record.

10/1(-25%) | (7) Lillistar 10/1, Scored by 3/4l off 46 over 2m1f at Wolverhampton three starts back; mistakes, still just about ran to form back hurding last time; effective at around 2m4f, acts on S, G; in fair form. 2m AW winner in October; two fair hurdle runs since; could go well but any rain a negative. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Looking Splendid couldn't land the hat-trick when sent off favourite at Newcastle latest but cannot be overlooked. SNOW DRAGON makes a bit more appeal as he has really improved this season, finishing third at Perth and then here. The four-year-old can continue to progress and should win a race like this soon. Passing Pleasure is another to be taken seriously.

The choice is PASSING PLEASURE who showed progressive form for Lawney Hill last season and is fully effective on soft and heavy ground.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
