1st (4) (6/1 +8%)Kai Lung |
6/1(+8%) | (4) Kai Lung 6/1, Yard won this race last year and he ran to form when second, beaten 1/4l, in a 3yo race at Tarbes last time. Soft ground winner on the Flat in France. Hood applied for the first time and could be useful hurdles recruit for top yard, likely type. Never out of the first three in six Flat starts in France, sole win came over 7.5f on soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/2 +13%)Lynches Knock |
7/2(+13%) | (5) Lynches Knock 7/2, The yard has won two of the last ten runnings and he arrives after winning a juvenile hurdle at Leopardstown by a neck last time. Effective at 2-2 1/4m and likely to get much further in time, with more to come. Stiff track will suit but this may be on the sharp side. Stable's second sting when winning an academy race at Leopardstown, experience an asset. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (4/1 -60%)Saratoga |
4/1(-60%) | (10) Saratoga 4/1, Made a promising debut when third, beaten 6 1/4l, in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown last time. Effective at 2m, formerly with Ballydoyle, and open to improvement over hurdles. Flat winner, third at Punchestown on hurdling debut, should go close with normal progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (1/1 +38%)Mon Creuset |
1/1(+38%) | (6) Mon Creuset 1/1, Yard won this race last year and he made a very promising debut when a 3 1/2l winner in a juvenile bumper at Nantes. Trainer is back in form and stable first string on jockey bookings. Big player on hurdle debut. Debut winner over 1m4f at Nantes last autumn, one of three for stable, Paul Townend rides. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (9/1 -29%)Moulin Labbe |
9/1(-29%) | (7) Moulin Labbe 9/1, Yard won this race last year and he made a promising debut when a 5l winner in a 3yo race at Ploermel. Trainer is in form and, returning from a break, he should have more to offer now hurdling for top connections. One of three ex-French runners for the champion trainer, Townend prefers Mon Creuset. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (150/1 -275%)Gain Line |
150/1(-275%) | (3) Gain Line 150/1, A Vadamos gelding who is yet to show any form in this sphere. Limited evidence to assess at present and needs to demonstrate ability under Rules. Dam won a bumper on her only completed start, worth a look for future reference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (80/1 -21%)Alberta Rose |
80/1(-21%) | (11) Alberta Rose 80/1, A Crystal Ocean filly who is starting out in this sphere. Dam was a winner over hurdles but faces stiff task first time out. Half-sister to a hurdle winner, dam hurdle winner/sister to high-class Voler La Vedette. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (50/1 -257%)Muhaajim |
50/1(-257%) | (8) Muhaajim 50/1, Ran to form but was held up in class and trip when beaten 6l in a handicap at Doncaster last time. 10f winner on the Flat in the UK and yard can get them ready after a break; of interest on hrudle debut. Won on good over 1m2f for William Haggas, also ran well on AW, heavy going may not suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (200/1 -300%)Blue Moon Boy |
200/1(-300%) | (1) Blue Moon Boy 200/1, Made mistakes and failed to find much when making a poor hurdle debut, well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown last time. A multiple Flat winner effective at 8-11f, but has plenty to prove over hurdles, including stamina. 76-rated gelding who won twice on the Flat, little impact at Punchestown on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (50/1 -178%)Dreamed To Dream |
50/1(-178%) | (2) Dreamed To Dream 50/1, May have found the ground too soft when finishing down the field in a handicap at Galway most recently. Overall profile makes him hard to recommend on the evidence available. Ordinary form on the Flat for his two previous trainers, poor run on only handicap start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (13) (200/1 -33%)Kashel Spring |
200/1(-33%) | (13) Kashel Spring 200/1, Made a poor debut in a good race when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown last time. A multiple Flat winner over 10f, but may need more time to adapt to hurdles. Won twice on the Flat for Joseph O'Brien, no show on hurdling debut at Leopardstown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (300/1 -50%)Nile Star |
300/1(-50%) | (9) Nile Star 300/1, Made a poor hurdle debut when well beaten in a graduation hurdle at Punchestown on his only start so far. Has yet to show anything of note. Made mistakes when completely tailed off at Punchestown on recent debut. |

Riding arrangements suggest MON CREUSET is the pick of Willie Mullins' three runners and may prove the one to beat with the yard in good form. He easily won a French bumper and has a similar profile to stablemate Moulin Labbe, while Kai Lung gained more experience on the Flat, winning a maiden over an extended 7f. Saratoga was smart on the level and will step forward from his third at Punchestown on New Year's Eve. Muhaajim is another Flat winner to keep a close eye on in the market, while Lynches Knock has already won over hurdles having landed an academy event at Leopardstown.

It should pay to trust Paul Townend who has chosen MON CREUSET one of the three Mullins-trained Triumph entries

1st (4) (4/1 +11%)Glen Kiln |
4/1(+11%) | (4) Glen Kiln 4/1, Outpaced and no match for the winner, but ran to form when second beaten 8 1/2l in a conditions hurdle at Punchestown last time. Enjoys making it and is effective at 2m to 2 1/2m. Progressive and has fitness edge on main rivals. Better than ever this season; seems sure to run another solid race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (1/1 +56%)Karbau |
1/1(+56%) | (5) Karbau 1/1, Yard has won this race the last three years. He ran to form when beaten 12l into third in the Grade 1 Champion Novice Hurdle at Punchestown. Effective at 2m and best with cut, he is a big player down in class if fit. Grade 1-placed novice last season; seasonal return and best form puts him right in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (10/1 -82%)Farren Glory |
10/1(-82%) | (3) Farren Glory 10/1, Outpaced and poorly placed off a steady pace but ridden to see out the trip when an improved 13l third in the Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle at Navan. Returning from a long layoff, he is effective from 2m to 2m5f and generally consistent. Fair claims if fit and ready to go. Former Royal Bond winner escapes a penalty on seasonal return; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (9/2 -35%)Workahead |
9/2(-35%) | (7) Workahead 9/2, Stopped very quickly when early up in grade, a run too bad to be true given previous form, when finishing well down the field in the Grade 1 Supreme Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham. Effective at 2m, his maiden form has been franked and there may be more to come. Absent since far too keen at Cheltenham last March; strong maiden form so respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (6/1 -9%)Kel Histoire |
6/1(-9%) | (6) Kel Histoire 6/1, From a yard that has won this race the last three times, he was outpaced mid-race and probably wanted it softer when well beaten in the Grade 1 Turners Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham. Effective at 2m, he is unexposed and a player if fit. Turners also ran when last seen; bit to prove but remains relatively unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (200/1 -60%)Bring On The Night |
200/1(-60%) | (2) Bring On The Night 200/1, Needed the run when well beaten in a conditions hurdle at Punchestown on his latest start. Effective at 2m, but he needs to show that his ability remains following a lengthy layoff. Decent on his day for Willie Mullins; recent yard debut after long absence raises doubts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (250/1 -25%)Cola Blaze |
250/1(-25%) | (8) Cola Blaze 250/1, Outpaced on a modest debut and looked in need of a stiffer test when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last time. Effective at 2m, she may need further and looks out of her depth in this company. Tailed off on hurdles debut in Fairyhouse maiden 10 days ago; looks well out of her depth. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

KARBAU gets the vote in a competitive renewal of this Grade 3. The facile Punchestown maiden winner was third twice at Grade 1 level last year and it will be interesting to see how strong he is in the betting ahead of his comeback. Workahead is obviously not the easiest to train but did impress in a Leopardstown maiden last term, while Farren Glory was a Grade 1-winning novice hurdler but didn't reach the same heights over fences and has been absent for nearly a year. Glen Kiln represents connections who would love to win this race and he's continued to progress. Bacchanalian won three times last year, including a Grade 3 here, but needs to bounce back after disappointing on his reappearance at Fairyhouse.

Absent since bombing out in the Supreme Novices', WORKAHEAD\ can fulfil earlier promise on his seasonal return

1st (11) (11/4 -10%)Shuttle Diplomacy |
11/4(-10%) | (11) Shuttle Diplomacy 11/4, Best run to date over hurdles when second, beaten 3l, in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time benefitting from addition of tongue tie. Effective at 2m and classy in bumpers, he is slowly getting better now switching to hurdles. Placed in Champion Bumper last time and should go well. Dual bumper winner, two disappointing hurdle runs before a much better effort at Limerick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (2/1 -7%)Arcadian Emperor |
2/1(-7%) | (1) Arcadian Emperor 2/1, Promising debut when fourth, beaten 4l, in a bumper at Leopardstown latest. Trainer is in form and the 2 1/2m trip suits. Point-to-point form has been boosted under rules and he looks a likely type on hurdle debut for a top yard. Point winner for Sam Curling, may not have been suited by moderate gallop in a 2m4f bumper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (100/1 -203%)Le Roi Du Livet |
100/1(-203%) | (6) Le Roi Du Livet 100/1, Modest debut when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Limerick most recently. Had been in good form prior and is effective at 2m. Showed promise in bumpers but must leave that previous hurdle form behind. Showed ability in bumpers, will need more hurdling experience judged on Limerick run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/1 +0%)Kilgame |
5/1(+0%) | (5) Kilgame 5/1, Improved when third, beaten 5l, in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown on his return from a layoff. Effective at 2m and well regarded despite having had issues, with the possibility there could be a bit more to come. Shaped well at Leopardstown last month on first run since last March, strong contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (3/1 +10%)Newbrook Diamond |
3/1(+10%) | (7) Newbrook Diamond 3/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 9 1/2l, in a maiden hurdle here latest. Effective over 2m to 2 1/4m and a point winner in good form over hurdles for a top yard. Looks set to win soon. Clear second to a well-fancied rival last time, needs to jump better but can win a maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (20/1 -11%)Genepi George |
20/1(-11%) | (4) Genepi George 20/1, Ran to form when third, beaten 6 1/2l, in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective between 2m and 2m3f and debut form looks strong, but a bit more is needed to get off the mark. Promising run at Navan before a fair third at Limerick, this company looks more demanding. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (200/1 -33%)Thankyouforthedays |
200/1(-33%) | (12) Thankyouforthedays 200/1, Made mistakes but ran to form when down the field in a maiden hurdle here most recently. Plenty more is needed on what he has shown so far, and he may want further in time. Down the field in two maiden hurdles, well held by Newbrook Diamond on running here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (150/1 -275%)Regno |
150/1(-275%) | (9) Regno 150/1, Showed minor promise on debut when well beaten in a bumper at Leopardstown on his only start. Effective at 2m and a longer trip could suit now hurdling, but this looks a big ask. Hinted at ability in a bumper at Leopardstown but not a likely winner at this stage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (15) (200/1 -203%)The Fly Window |
200/1(-203%) | (15) The Fly Window 200/1, Outpaced and a modest debut when comfortably held in a mares' bumper at Punchestown last time. Showed little in points or bumpers so far and may want further in time. Not a bad effort in a bumper early in the month, likely to need hurdling experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (125/1 -213%)Sharu |
125/1(-213%) | (10) Sharu 125/1, Did plenty early and showed minor promise on debut when well beaten in a bumper at Down Royal on his only start. Effective at 2m1f, but more is needed for him to figure over hurdles. Should improve from a bumper run, stable has a strong candidate here in Kilgame. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (14) (250/1 -67%)Rathbawn Soldier |
250/1(-67%) | (14) Rathbawn Soldier 250/1, Improved a little when down the field in a maiden hurdle here most recently. On current evidence she looks one for further down the line rather than an immediate contender. Two midfield finishes in large-field maidens, will need to qualify for a handicap mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (2) (6/1 +14%)Did I Ask You That |
6/1(+14%) | (2) Did I Ask You That 6/1, Far too free when third, beaten 33l, in a maiden hurdle at Tramore last time. Trainer is in form and he is effective at 2m6f. Could have a say if back to level of debut form. Lightly raced since second in a bumper in 2022, blowing hard after a tame run at Tramore. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (13) (50/1 -25%)True Harmony |
50/1(-25%) | (13) True Harmony 50/1, Promising debut when a 4l winner in a maiden point at Stowlin. Returns from a long layoff and is a point winner. Could have more to offer now moving under rules. Mahler gelding, good pedigree, looked useful when winning a point for Gary Murphy last May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (16) (150/1 -50%)Walkingmayotomilan |
150/1(-50%) | (16) Walkingmayotomilan 150/1, Pulled up in a maiden point at Quakerstown most recently and returns from a short break. Showed minor promise in points, but this looks a big ask on what has been shown so far. Placed in three of her four runs in points for Colin Bowe, pulled up when favourite latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (3) (125/1 -213%)Embrace The Day |
125/1(-213%) | (3) Embrace The Day 125/1, Outpaced and a modest debut when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown most recently. A point winner with a top yard and a longer trip should suit, but he may need more time before showing his best. Point winner last spring, should be better for recent hurdling debut, stable back in form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (200/1 -203%)Patton |
200/1(-203%) | (8) Patton 200/1, Modest debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Clonmel last time. On that evidence he looks out of his depth once again in this company. Fell in a point, remote sixth at Clonmel on hurdling debut, can be ruled out. |

SHUTTLE DIPLOMACY isn't the most consistent of performers but did win twice in bumpers, including at this venue, and was placed behind Bambino Fever at the Cheltenham Festival. The Tom Cooper-trained gelding put a couple of disappointing efforts over hurdles behind him when second in a strong maiden at the Limerick Christmas meeting. Point-to-point winner Newbrook Diamond has been placed on all three hurdle starts, including when runner-up to Future Prospect here earlier this month, while Kilgame is another to consider on his third to Murat at Leopardstown. Arcadian Emperor won a Lisronagh point in good style and now switches to hurdles after finishing fourth in a Leopardstown bumper.

Third in last year's Cheltenham bumper, SHUTTLE DIPLOMACY put two bad runs behind him when second at Limerick and may collect now

14/1(-75%) | (5) Matt Connor 14/1, Had too much to do after errors at key stages when fourth beaten 8l in a handicap hurdle at Leopardstown latest. Effective at 2m and is progressing so should remain competitive. Won at Limerick in October, now down in grade after a satisfactory fourth at Leopardstown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (6/1 +40%)Peaceinthevalley |
6/1(+40%) | (10) Peaceinthevalley 6/1, Ran to form when fourth beaten 6l in a handicap hurdle at Limerick latest. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and a longer trip should suit based on recent form. Beaten 6l in fourth behind King Kali at Limerick on handicap debut, may get closer now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (9/2 +63%)Rebel Gold |
9/2(+63%) | (8) Rebel Gold 9/2, Ran to form when an 18l third in a handicap chase at Gowran Park on his most recent run. On generous mark based on chase efforts and running into form this term. Veteran six-time winner, several good displays off his much higher chase mark during 2025. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (17/2 -55%)Club Manager |
17/2(-55%) | (7) Club Manager 17/2, Went clear and ran to form down in trip under an aggressive ride when beaten 2 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark here last time. Effective over 2 1/2m and generally consistent. Not the most consistent sort but enters calculations on last month's second at this venue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (12/1 +14%)Theflyingbee |
12/1(+14%) | (1) Theflyingbee 12/1, Made too much use of when running to form but was comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown last time. Effective over 2-2 1/2m and generally in good form. Ran out of steam in a 2m5f race at Punchestown two weeks ago, this trip may suit better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) (5/1 +38%)Mon Sheriffe |
5/1(+38%) | (13) Mon Sheriffe 5/1, Ran to form when a 5 1/4l third in a handicap hurdle at Navan last time, suited by a positive ride and stiff track down in trip. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m but his mark demands more. Fair handicap form, seems to be improving, only 2l behind Theflyingbee when third at Navan. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (80/1 -60%)Granville Street |
80/1(-60%) | (3) Granville Street 80/1, Continued in modest form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Navan last time. Effective over 2 1/2m but has been out of form in both codes since a layoff. Has had four runs (two on Flat) after long absence, held by Theflyingbee on Navan running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (40/1 -186%)Beyond Your Dreams |
40/1(-186%) | (2) Beyond Your Dreams 40/1, Needed the run and may not have stayed when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown most recently. Effective at 2m and should come on for that latest outing. Has tended to struggle in handicaps, plenty to find with Theflyingbee on recent running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (28/1 -250%)Justatan |
28/1(-250%) | (12) Justatan 28/1, Outpaced and below form when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle at Limerick most recently. Effective at 2m and there is more to come now handicapping. Won both starts in points, disappointing since but had excuse in race won by Mystic Malina. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (10/3 +83%)Doctor Churchill |
10/3(+83%) | (6) Doctor Churchill 10/3, Hampered early and below form when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown most recently. Returning from a long layoff and may just need this run. C&D winner early last year after a long absence, has changed stable, could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (12/1 -140%)Mystic Malina |
12/1(-140%) | (11) Mystic Malina 12/1, Did it readily and improved for debut experience when winning a maiden hurdle at Clonmel by 6 1/2l last time. Opening mark looks lenient and longer trips are likely to suit. Won at Clonmel, not guaranteed to uphold form with third-placed Justatan who met trouble. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (13/2 -63%)King Kali |
13/2(-63%) | (4) King Kali 13/2, Ran to form when landing a handicap by 3 1/2l off a 7lb lower mark at Limerick last time. Effective from 2 1/4m to 2 1/2m and remains competitive off his revised mark. Returned from long layoff with a good run here last month, built on that with Limerick win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (33/1 -200%)Rony Has |
33/1(-200%) | (9) Rony Has 33/1, May have found the ground too testing when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Limerick latest. Effective from 2m to 2 3/4m but his current mark demands improvement. Met interference at Limerick and the run is best ignored, worth a market check. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

CLUB MANAGER has proved frustrating to follow this season, filling the runner-up spot three times including behind River Vale here last month, with King Kali five lengths back in fourth. The Ross O'Sullivan-trained gelding handles testing ground and cheekpieces are now replaced by blinkers. King Kali has won either side of the aforementioned outing including at the Limerick Christmas meeting, with Peaceinthevalley behind in fourth, while Matt Connor won on his penultimate start at Limerick and again put in a solid effort at Leopardstown last time. Mystic Malina and Mon Sheriffe are others to consider.

In testing ground, a light weight could be the key, and MON SHERIFFE has a fair chance of reversing Navan form with Theflyingbee

Evens(+20%) | (4) Love Sign D'aunou Evens, Very promising debut when a 1 1/2l winner in a maiden point at Loughanmore. Trainer is in form and, despite returning from a long layoff, he rates a threat on the strength of that run given it has been franked under rules. Won a maiden point last April for Ger Quinn, runner-up has won over hurdles, strong chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (2/1 +78%)Largy Star |
2/1(+78%) | (3) Largy Star 2/1, Improved when winning the Winner Of One point at Kirkistown by 2 1/2l last time. Off a short break now; a multiple point winner who has joined a good yard and looks a likely type. Won two points in October for Cormac Abernethy, interesting prospect, stable back in form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (8/1 -60%)Touch The Clouds |
8/1(-60%) | (5) Touch The Clouds 8/1, Bit free but showed promise when third, beaten 10l, in a bumper at Navan on debut. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

11/1(-100%) | (1) Beechwood Road 11/1, Very promising debut in a good race when beaten 5 1/4l in a bumper at Leopardstown. Effective at 2 1/2m and acts on yielding ground; knew his job first time but should progress a little. Failed to match market expectations (3-1) at Leopardstown, likely to be capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (10/1 -43%)Vienna Storm |
10/1(-43%) | (6) Vienna Storm 10/1, £18,000 Mahler gelding representing a trainer in form. Comes from a top yard and is likely to know his job on debut, with market support potentially informative. Dam a half-sister to smart chaser Chris's Dream, apparent second string for Willie Mullins. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (12/1 -85%)Doctor Elvis |
12/1(-85%) | (2) Doctor Elvis 12/1, Promising debut when third, beaten 12l, in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown. Absent for a very lengthy period since; effective at 2m3f on soft ground, but has the layoff to overcome in this bumper. Showed plenty of promise in a maiden hurdle in 2023, now bids to make up for lost time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (20/1 -82%)Fly Away Home |
20/1(-82%) | (9) Fly Away Home 20/1, Promising debut when a 13l fourth in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown first time out. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and heavy ground; showed promise over hurdles and could be competitive. Fared best of the outsiders behind Mullins/Elliott runners in a maiden hurdle, may improve. |

8th (7) (200/1 -100%)Esprit De Rue |
200/1(-100%) | (7) Esprit De Rue 200/1, Modest debut when well beaten in a mares' bumper at Thurles on her only start. Has plenty to prove on that evidence and needs to show significant improvement. Made debut at Thurles last month at the age of eight, limited encouragement from that run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (80/1 -60%)Eyecanboogie |
80/1(-60%) | (8) Eyecanboogie 80/1, Green in mid-race but finished third, beaten 25l, in a bumper at Kilbeggan on debut. Absent for a very lengthy period since; effective at 2m and should be capable of better with experience. Beaten 25l in third at Kilbeggan in 2024 on only start for Willie Mullins, best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (200/1 -60%)Hazy Daisy |
200/1(-60%) | (10) Hazy Daisy 200/1, Modest debut when well beaten in a mares' bumper at Punchestown on her only start. Faces an uphill task on that form and has plenty to prove. Always towards the rear at Punchestown first time out, unlikely to feature. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

LOVE SIGN D'AUNOU may be able to make a winning start for Willie Mullins. The French-bred gelding won his sole point-to-point start at Loughanmore last April and that looked like a decent contest, with the runner-up landing a maiden hurdle in October. Doctor Elvis returns after a long absence, but could be a danger. He was third behind two smart sorts in Predators Gold and Mossy Fen Park over hurdles at Punchestown back in November 2023, and cost 260,000 euros at the Caldwell dispersal sale. Dual point-to-point winner Largy Star has to be respected on his first outing for Gavin Cromwell.

Willie Mullins has saddled several promising bumper winners in recent weeks and could have another with LOVE SIGN D'AOUNU

1st (2) (5/2 +25%)Argento Boy |
5/2(+25%) | (2) Argento Boy 5/2, Yard has won the last two runnings of this race. Won a beginners chase at Punchestown by 5 1/2l last time. Trainer is in form, effective at 3m, and while inconsistent over hurdles, there is likely more to come over fences on favourable easy ground. Possibly fortunate maiden winner last month; respected but likely needs to improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (15/2 -7%)Bossofthebrownies |
15/2(-7%) | (4) Bossofthebrownies 15/2, Showed an awkward head carriage under pressure but ran to form when beaten 6 1/2l into third in a novice chase here last time. Effective over 2 1/2-3m and suited by plenty of cut, having improved since going chasing. C&D third to Flicker Of Hope last month but 6.5l to find, albeit 3lb better off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (9/1 -20%)The Enabler |
9/1(-20%) | (7) The Enabler 9/1, Made mistakes and was a bit below form when fourth, beaten 18l, in the Sky Bet Super Sub Novice Chase (Grade 3) at Punchestown last time. A top jockey is back on board, effective over 2-2 1/2m, and generally consistent. Tries a new trip here and possibly vulnerable to some proven stayers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (11/2 +61%)The Great Nudie |
11/2(+61%) | (8) The Great Nudie 11/2, Did it cosily and improved for a step up in trip under a positive ride when winning a beginners chase here by 12l last time. Effective over 2-2 1/2m, progressing over fences, with a bit more to come judged on hurdle form. Recent mares beginners' winner; much more on her plate and unproven over this sort of trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (5/1 -25%)Blaze The Way |
5/1(-25%) | (3) Blaze The Way 5/1, Did it cosily and improved for a step up in trip on handicap debut when winning the Turners Handicap Chase at Cheltenham by 5l last time. Wants close to 3m and is progressing steadily over fences. Cheltenham handicap winner; goes on heavy, big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (66/1 -164%)Lonesome Boatman |
66/1(-164%) | (6) Lonesome Boatman 66/1, Ran to form off a revised mark when beaten 10l into third in the Porterstown Handicap Chase (Listed) at Fairyhouse last time. Comes here off a short break, is effective over 3m+, and arrives in form. Progressive staying handicapper; upped in grade so career-best required but could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (12/1 -9%)Eagle Fang |
12/1(-9%) | (5) Eagle Fang 12/1, Ran to form but was well held when comfortably beaten in a novice chase at Cheltenham last time. Effective over 2m-2m6f and best on a sound surface. A useful hurdler, but needs a drop in class over fences. Ground may have been too quick at Cheltenham; stamina concerns at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (3/1 -9%)Flicker Of Hope |
3/1(-9%) | (1) Flicker Of Hope 3/1, Travelled well and improved for a step up in trip when winning a novice chase here by 3l last time. Effective over 2-3m, best at staying trips, and progressing over fences, making him worth this step up in class. Recent C&D winner progressing well and big player again with ground to suit. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

A competitive renewal and FLICKER OF HOPE can give weight away to his rivals. Mark Fahey's gelding beat a good field over C&D and did well to win over two and a half miles at Fairyhouse previously, but really comes into his own with a stiffer test of stamina. The obvious danger is Blaze The Way, who also blossomed when stepped up in trip at Cheltenham last month. He beat a strong field in good style in handicap company and should be a big player now in this grade. Argento Boy won well at Punchestown and is another who has to come into calculations.

Stamina likely to be at a premium here with BLAZE THE WAY narrowly preferred to recent C&D winner Flicker Of Hope

1st (11) (28/1 -12%)Rusheen |
28/1(-12%) | (11) Rusheen 28/1, The yard won this race last year. Unseated in a handicap chase at Fairyhouse latest and returning from a long layoff. Effective at 2 1/2-2 3/4m and must bounce back after a break. 1lb wrong on seasonal return and yard debut, market likely best guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (9/2 +47%)Three In A Row |
9/2(+47%) | (10) Three In A Row 9/2, Had too much to do but just failed to land a gamble when beaten a short-head off a 4lb lower mark at Punchestown last time. Effective at around 2 1/2m, inconsistent, but goes well when money is down and threat if building on latest. Narrow Punchestown defeat augurs well, providing he handles the worse ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (12/1 -9%)Goraibhmaithagat |
12/1(-9%) | (4) Goraibhmaithagat 12/1, Badly hampered mid-race and not knocked about after when well beaten in a beginners' chase at Punchestown latest. Likely to want at least 2 1/2m and should have more to offer over fences when stepped up in trip if ridden more positively. Hasn't progressed from encouraging chase debut here; back in trip for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/1 +17%)Karl Des Tourelles |
5/1(+17%) | (1) Karl Des Tourelles 5/1, Eased late when beaten, paying the price for trying to go with an impressive winner when comfortably held in a beginners' chase at Leopardstown last time. Effective at 2 1/2-3m, best with cut, and a consistent hurdler who looks one for handicaps over fences. Enters handicap ranks on 10lb lower mark than hurdles so has to be respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/1 -10%)Talk In The Park |
11/1(-10%) | (3) Talk In The Park 11/1, No match for the winner but ran to form when second, beaten 15l, in a novice chase at Fairyhouse latest. Cheekpieces are applied for the first time, effective at 2m6f, and may stay 3m. In form. 0-8 chasing but remains of interest back in handicap with cheekpieces now tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (15/2 +17%)Mickie Angel |
15/2(+17%) | (9) Mickie Angel 15/2, Ran to form up in trip when second, beaten 4 1/4l, in a handicap chase at Limerick latest. Effective at 2 1/2-3m, in good form, and not fully exposed over fences. Outstayed by a well-handicapped rival over 2m7f at Limerick; 3lb higher but should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (9/1 -170%)Raglan Road |
9/1(-170%) | (2) Raglan Road 9/1, Never put into the race or asked a question when comfortably held in a beginners' chase at Fairyhouse last time. Off a short break, effective at around 2 1/2m, and can do better over fences when stepped up in trip in handicaps. Just third attempt chasing so potential improver off 5lb lower chase mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (12/1 -9%)Prophet's Corner |
12/1(-9%) | (8) Prophet's Corner 12/1, All but brought down mid-race and had no chance after when well beaten in a beginners' chase at Punchestown latest. Effective at around 3m and likely one for handicaps over fences. Best hurdles form over further; opposable on handicap chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (8/1 -45%)Built By Ballymore |
8/1(-45%) | (6) Built By Ballymore 8/1, Finished fourth when beaten 28l in a beginners' chase at Punchestown latest, having not been put into the race back from a break. Effective at around 2 1/2m, yet to match his useful hurdles form, but should come on for that run and do better in handicaps off what looks a generous mark. Handicap chase debut off 12lb lower mark than hurdles so certainly scope for improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (12/1 +45%)Jacovec Cavern |
12/1(+45%) | (7) Jacovec Cavern 12/1, Ran to form off a big weight when third, beaten 15l, in a novice chase at Fairyhouse on his most recent run. Effective from 2m4f to 3m and in good form since switching to fences. Didn't stay 2m6f latest; return to this trip should suit but others better handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (9/2 -13%)Bridie's Beau |
9/2(-13%) | (5) Bridie's Beau 9/2, Scored by 3l off a 12lb lower mark at Clonmel on his penultimate start. Usually held up, effective at around 2 1/2m, and progressing over fences, with likely a bit more to come. Progressive of late; up 12lb for last two runs but yard really firing now; shortlisted. |

Gavin Cromwell bounced back to form during the week and BRIDIE'S BEAU may be able to give him another winner. The Blue Bresil gelding won at Clonmel early last month before losing out narrowly at Navan just 12 days later. He is 3lb higher, but looks capable of another big run. Talk In The Park ran a solid race, despite not troubling winner The Enabler, in a hot rated contest at Fairyhouse. Connections try cheekpieces and he could play a big part. Three In A Row was narrowly denied at Punchestown on New Year's Eve and has to be respected.

BRIDIE'S BEAU (nap) makes plenty of appeal, especially given the recent form of the yard, and gets the vote ahead of Mickie Angel
Ths is the racecard key.
