1st (5) (8/13 +55%)Moulin Labbe |
8/13(+55%) | (5) Moulin Labbe 8/13, Very promising debut comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Naas last time; effective 2m, acts on heavy; French bumper winner, more to come, should be winning soon. 5l winner of 1m4f French bumper; fifth on stable/hurdle debut last time; Townend rides now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/1 -100%)Crooked Path |
7/1(-100%) | (3) Crooked Path 7/1, Far too free comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown last time; effective 2m with cut and on good; in form until latest, mark demands more. Some decent runs in defeat over hurdles; poor in a h'cap last time; decent chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (9/4 +0%)Hygge |
9/4(+0%) | (4) Hygge 9/4, Improved from debut just outstayed late up in trip 4 1/4l third in a juvenile hurdle at Leopardstown most recent run; tongue-tie first time; off a short-break; effective 2m; can find race when dropped back in trip. Beaten favourite in two academy hurdles albeit not bad efforts; Kennedy keeps faith. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (200/1 -203%)Chief Josef |
200/1(-203%) | (2) Chief Josef 200/1, Green, mistakes, ran to form down the field in a juvenile hurdle at Leopardstown most recent; off a short-break; effective 2m; looks one for handicaps. Well beaten in both academy hurdles and a point last time; unlikely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (7/1 -17%)Annie's Angel |
7/1(-17%) | (7) Annie's Angel 7/1, Ran to form when second beaten 6l in a maiden hurdle at Hereford latest; effective 2m, acts on heavy; should improve. 75-rated Flat winner improved over hurdle debut to finish second last time at Hereford. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (66/1 -65%)Youknowthecode |
66/1(-65%) | (6) Youknowthecode 66/1, Never threatened on modest debut well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Gowran Park only start; from top yard but plenty more needed. Tailed off on debut when ignored by Kennedy and similarly passed over here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (150/1 -355%)Thelittlevillager |
150/1(-355%) | (8) Thelittlevillager 150/1, 11,000 euros Hunting Horn filly; half-sister to Jessi, poor at 17f; dam moderate from 8f to 11f though did win on the Flat; tough enough task on debut. Half-sister to Flat winners Blaze Of Hearts and Twistsandturns; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (200/1 -506%)Bravemans Bounce |
200/1(-506%) | (1) Bravemans Bounce 200/1, 4,000 euros Brave Mansonnien gelding; dam useful at 6f; dam placed first time out in France; probably best watched. Dam 6f winner (RPR 81); others more appealing. |

HYGGE has been placed on both outings in academy hurdles and may have been found a good opportunity to open his account. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding was third behind Minella Yoga (won again since) on testing ground at Fairyhouse and filled the same spot behind stablemate Lynches Knock at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival. On a line through that winner, he should have the beating of Moulin Labbe, who won a French bumper in good style but weakened before the last when switched to hurdles at Naas. Crooked Path has plenty of experience over hurdles and appears effective on varying ground conditions.

French bumper winner MOULIN LABBE raced keenly on Irish debut behind a couple of stablemates. He can do better now with Townend aboard

4/6(+52%) | (2) Galileo Dame 4/6, Ran to form but looked in need of slightly stiffer test down the field in Paddy And Maureen Mullins Mares Handicap Hurdle (Listed) at Leopardstown most recent; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on Hy and GS; classy maiden sets the form standard and should go close. Flat winner remains a m'den over hurdles despite some good efforts in defeat; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (13/2 +13%)Sound Judgement |
13/2(+13%) | (9) Sound Judgement 13/2, Yard has won last two runnings of race; pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse latest; effective 2m; point winner with plenty to prove. Impressive point winner was 3rd on bumper debut and PU over hurdles latest; can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (9/4 +78%)Shadys Lady |
9/4(+78%) | (7) Shadys Lady 9/4, Went clear, improved from debut up in trip but probably ridden too aggressively when fourth beaten 24l in a graduation hurdle at Punchestown latest; effective at 2m-2m3f, acts with cut; bumper winner likely capable of better again. Good bumper form but hasn't kicked on as expected over hurdles; needs to show her best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (9/1 -20%)The Dotski |
9/1(-20%) | (10) The Dotski 9/1, Very promising debut well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse only start; effective 2m, acts on soft; should improve a little for initial experience. Ran on well after last to finish a 14.5l fifth on debut; likely to have learned from that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (40/1 +20%)Mollys Star |
40/1(+20%) | (3) Mollys Star 40/1, Vadamos mare; half-sister to Pinnacle Peter, moderate at 20f; likely to need this initial experience. Half-sister to two point winners; unlikely to make immediate impact. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

100/1(-52%) | (8) Shanliss Tricks 100/1, Vadamos mare; half-sister to Leahs Tricks, moderate from 16f to 17f; hood first time; probably best watched. Half-sister to winners Amarillo Sky and Leahs Tricks; hooded for debut and best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (300/1 -50%)Question Asked |
300/1(-50%) | (4) Question Asked 300/1, Never in the race down the field in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse most recent; usually held up; looks one for low grade handicaps. Easily passed over on basis of three tailed off m'den hurdle outings at huge odds. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (300/1 -140%)Rose Of The Sea |
300/1(-140%) | (5) Rose Of The Sea 300/1, No worthwhile form; off a long absence; yet to show anything in either code. Soundly beaten in both Flat outings; PU when last seen in Dec' 2024 on hurdles debut. |

GALILEO DAME is a smart dual-purpose mare and can gain an overdue win over hurdles. She was placed twice at Listed level on the Flat and beat all bar Hello Neighbour in the Grade 1 juvenile hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival last year. She went close when reverting to timber over 2m4f at Limerick over Christmas and should be suited by this drop back to 2m. Royal Hillsborough has strong form in bumpers and was unfortunate in a Grade 2 at Leopardstown when her rider misjudged the winning post. The Dotski caught the eye staying on late on debut at Fairyhouse and may prove more of a threat than Shadys Lady and Sound Judgement.

Unfortunate not to win a Gr.2 bumper last time, ROYAL HILLSBOROUGH (nap) can make a winning start over hurdles

4/6(+8%) | (3) Showurappreciation 4/6, Travelled, went clear with ease, improved back down in trip landing a handicap by 5 1/2l off a 4lb higher mark at Punchestown last time; significant jockey booking; effective 2m5f-3m, acts on any; progressive over fences and thrown in on that form back over hurdles. Easy Punchestown win over fences and leading contender off his lower hurdles mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (4/1 0%)St Denis's Well |
4/1(0%) | (4) St Denis's Well 4/1, Yard won this last year; pulled up in a handicap chase at Leopardstown latest; off a short-break; effective 2 1/2-3m; easy winner here when last seen over hurdles; not dismissed. Landed a gamble over 2m here in Nov'; excuses when PU latest; chance at best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (6/1 +50%)Chosen Diamond |
6/1(+50%) | (7) Chosen Diamond 6/1, Outpaced and unsuited by drop in trip comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Naas last time; effective 2m4f-3m, suited by cut; handicapper relenting, needs this step back ip in trip. Solid form in 2m4f hurdles this time last year inc' C&D 2nd; way below best this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (12/1 +40%)Quest With Speed |
12/1(+40%) | (1) Quest With Speed 12/1, Scored by 1 1/2l off a 6lb lower mark here three starts back; no obvious excuse 13th beaten 70l off 116 last time, 1lb lower here; effective 2 1/2-3m, acts on any but wants good ground over staying trips; inconsistent. Bagged second hurdling success over C&D in Dec' at 40-1; latest run was way below his best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (12/1 +64%)Lady Bluebird |
12/1(+64%) | (6) Lady Bluebird 12/1, Made too much use of well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse latest; off a short-break; effective 2 1/2m; out of form. No encouragement in 2025 starts, nor run last time; hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (100/1 -525%)Silver Salute |
100/1(-525%) | (5) Silver Salute 100/1, Yard won this last year; outpaced, modest debut down the field in a graduation hurdle at Punchestown most recent; effective 2m; debut form strong, must bounce back on handicap debut. Placed in points; okay effort on hurdling debut but poor since; check market for h'cap bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (33/1 -340%)Jerrari |
33/1(-340%) | (2) Jerrari 33/1, Bit below form well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan latest; in good form prior; hood first time; effective 2m on good; handicapper may have caught up. Back-to-back 2m good ground winner over summer; ground conditions likely against him here. |

SHOWURAPPRECIATION was absent for nearly two years after winning a Ballinrobe maiden hurdle and has progressed well over fences this season. The Jonathan Sweeney-trained gelding scored in fine style over an extended 2m6f at Punchestown last month and is well treated compared to his revised chase mark of 126. Chosen Diamond won over a similar trip at Fairyhouse last year before finishing second in this race and has dropped down to a competitive mark. Lady Bluebird should benefit from a couple of outings this term and is now fitted with cheekpieces.

This can go to SHOWURAPPRECIATION who was a comfortable winner over fences last time and can now race off his lower hurdles mark

1st (3) (11/4 +8%)Hens Tooth |
11/4(+8%) | (3) Hens Tooth 11/4, Bit too free in front up in trip but improved comfortably held in a maiden hurdle here last time; effective 2m-2m6f, acts with cut; bumper winner has had issues but top yard persists, likely capable of better again. Returned from long absence and tailed off; better effort over C&D last time when sixth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (100/1 -150%)Green Chef |
100/1(-150%) | (2) Green Chef 100/1, Mistakes and outpaced, poor debut down the field in an auction hurdle at Thurles most recent; needs more. Well beaten in both rules' starts; others bring more pressing claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (3/1 +73%)Jack The Lad |
3/1(+73%) | (4) Jack The Lad 3/1, Ran to form 24l third in a bumper at Cork most recent run; returning from long layoff; effective over 2m3f, acts on soft; point winner showed promise in bumpers, more to come over hurdles. Wide margin point winner; beaten 15l and 24l in two bumpers; the choice of Slevin. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (12/1 -118%)Nopresentliketime |
12/1(-118%) | (5) Nopresentliketime 12/1, Yard won this last year; very promising debut when second beaten 13l in a maiden hurdle at Ayr latest; effective 2m4f, acts on soft; beaten by classy type on debut, likely capable of better. Fifth in a decent bumper in Jan' 2025; returned from absence when distant runner-up latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (50/1 -52%)Blue Du Neuf |
50/1(-52%) | (1) Blue Du Neuf 50/1, Very promising debut when fourth beaten 34l in a maiden hurdle here latest; trainer in form; effective 2m, acts on heavy; improvement likely. Unlikely to trouble the principals based on three starts to date. |

SAN HILARIO has been a model of consistency in handicaps and may open his account reverting to maiden company. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding filled the runner-up spot for the third time this term when beating all bar Powerful over an extended 2m4f at Punchestown. The biggest threat may emerge from bumper winner Hens Tooth, who should benefit from a couple of hurdle outings this term, ahead of the lightly-raced Nopresentliketime.

ROYAL GLADIATOR was a runner-up behind smart prospect Oh My Word on rules' debut and posted another solid effort over hurdles last time

(3) (4/6 0%)Jacob's Ladder |
4/6(0%) | (3) Jacob's Ladder 4/6, Improved back down in trip on handicap debut when winning Barberstown Castle Handicap Chase (Listed) at Leopardstown by 5l last time; effective 2-2 1/2m with cut; progressing over fences, worth step up in class. Made a stylish entry to handicap company at the DRF, can continue on an upward curve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (3/1 +40%)Lovely Hurling |
3/1(+40%) | (4) Lovely Hurling 3/1, Improved from debut when second beaten 14l in a beginners chase chase at Leopardstown latest; off a short-break; placed at top level over hurdles; effective 2 1/2m; should improve when upped in trip but stiff track will suit over this distance. Solid form in defeat since his maiden hurdle win, will get easier opportunities than this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (50/1 -100%)Intense Approach |
50/1(-100%) | (2) Intense Approach 50/1, Unseated in a handicap chase at Musselburgh latest; form of debut win has been boosted; effective 2m4f-3m, suited by good; must bounce back and wouldn't want rain. Best hurdles form on good ground over further, faces a big test on the prevailing going. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (150/1 -50%)Choccabloc |
150/1(-50%) | (1) Choccabloc 150/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase here latest; effective 2 1/2m; still early days over fences, mark could be generous judged on hurdle form but looks vulnerable at this level. Likely to struggle in this grade, meets Jacob's Ladder on 35lb worse than handicap terms. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

JACOB'S LADDER will relish testing conditions and is taken to follow up a valuable handicap chase success in Leopardstown at the start of the month. He was notably strong in the closing stages of that contest, drawing five lengths clear, and this is a good trip for him. Lovely Hurling was Grade 1-placed over flights and although he was beaten a fair way into second in two beginners chases, the winners of those races are classy sorts so he should be a contender. Port Joulain made all to score in a beginners chase at Fairyhouse and represents strong connections on this step up in class. Willie Mullins has won three of the last four renewals of this race.

An emphatic winner of of a big handicap at the DRF, JACOB'S LADDER has more than enough ability to win in this grade

(2) (4/9 +47%)Found A Fifty |
4/9(+47%) | (2) Found A Fifty 4/9, Winner of two G1s; yard has won 2 of last 9 runnings of race; 19l third in Dublin Chase (Grade 1) at Leopardstown most recent run; effective 2-2 1/2m, yet to fully convince with stamina for 3m; consistent, probably vulnerable at top level but the one to beat down in class. Dual winner of the Fortria at this venue, needs to bounce back from Leopardstown defeats. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (5/1 +44%)Better Days Ahead |
5/1(+44%) | (1) Better Days Ahead 5/1, Yard has won 2 of last 9 runnings of race; when second beaten 2 1/2l in Boyne Hurdle (Grade 2) here latest; effective 2 1/2-3 1/2m, acts on any; progressive over hurdles and fences, should come on for latest. Has a good record at this venue, encouraging hurdles run on return, talented second string. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (6/1 -80%)Saint Sam |
6/1(-80%) | (3) Saint Sam 6/1, Pulled up in Peterborough Chase (Grade 2) at Huntingdon latest; enjoys making it; top jockey back on board; off a short-break; effective at around 2 1/2m, suited by decent ground but acts on any; generally consistent, likes to dominate small fields. Went close against Found A Fifty at Fairyhouse last April, blotted his record on return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Gordon Elliott's FOUND A FIFTY is particularly effective in small-field Grade 2 assignments and looks the one to beat with a rating of 164. He was an honourable third at the highest level in Leopardstown and has had almost a month off from those exertions. His stablemate Better Days Ahead made a highly encouraging return to action when second in a Grade 2 over flights at this venue just under three weeks ago. Staying tests over fences are more his forte and his last couple of chase victories came at this track. Saint Sam enjoys racing at the head of affairs and this is his level, while James Du Berlais is weighted to have a say.

If restored to form after two below-par Leopardstown Grade 1 displays, FOUND A FIFTY should win this Elliott/Mullins showdown

(2) (4/5 +51%)Savante |
4/5(+51%) | (2) Savante 4/5, Out-battled and possibly outstayed late having looked winner, improved for testing ground beaten a head off a 5lb higher mark at Leopardstown last time; effective 2 1/2-3m, acts on any but suited by cut; unexposed over fences, in form and mark generous based on hurdles efforts. Ran career best when beaten a head over hurdles at DRF; 10lb lower for h'cap chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (3/1 -50%)Sophia Rose |
3/1(-50%) | (4) Sophia Rose 3/1, Travelled strongly and improved up in trip just beaten by progressive rival when second beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap chase at Punchestown latest; cheekpieces first time; effective 2m4f, acts on any ground; in good form. Consistent in defeat in four starts over fences; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (15/2 -7%)Me Wee Bonnie Lass |
15/2(-7%) | (1) Me Wee Bonnie Lass 15/2, Pulled up in a novice chase at Fairyhouse latest; tongue-tie first time; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on soft and good; in moderate form. 3-7 over hurdles but not much to show for seven chase starts; looks second string. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (16/1 -113%)Femme Magnifique |
16/1(-113%) | (3) Femme Magnifique 16/1, May have found ground on the soft side well beaten in a handicap chase at Thurles latest; cheekpieces first time; effective 2m-2m4f on heavy but suited by good; looking flattered by chase debut form. Poor in last three starts, inc' when beaten 35l in a h'cap last time; needs to bounce back. |

SAVANTE could exploit her lower chase mark. She did very little wrong when runner-up in a valuable handicap hurdle over further in Leopardstown, when collared close home. That form looks strong as she was 15 lengths clear of the third. Sophia Rose gets first-time cheekpieces after a runner-up spot over a longer trip in Punchestown and has winning form over a similar distance from a maiden hurdle in Sligo last summer. Her stablemate Me Wee Bonnie Lass has a 7lb claimer on board to lessen her burden and she is capable of a good run in this company. Femme Magnifique is another in the mix for prize money.

The key players are SOPHIA ROSE and Savante. Preference is given to the former, following solid placed efforts over fences recently
