1st (1) (1/3 +81%)Sober Glory |
1/3(+81%) | (1) Sober Glory 1/3, Went clear comfortably when winning a novice hurdle here by 13l last time, outclassing rivals down in grade. Effective at 2m and acts on good to soft ground. Classy in bumpers and debut hurdle form looks good, so worth another go at a higher level but should be able to defy big weight here. Flopped on penultimate start but progressive and unbeaten otherwise; 2-2 at Newbury. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2/1 +0%)Kadastral |
2/1(+0%) | (2) Kadastral 2/1, Ran to form for a cosy win when landing a maiden hurdle here by 2l last time. Comes here after a short break, is effective at 2m and acts on good and good to soft ground. Should improve again and is a major player. C&D win last time took his Newbury record to 2-2; open to plenty of further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (4/1 +47%)Last Round |
4/1(+47%) | (7) Last Round 4/1, Made a modest debut when fourth, beaten 33l, in a maiden hurdle at Ludlow last time. Showed promise in points and has since joined a top yard, but needs to show more over hurdles. May improve, with this further drop in distance worth exploring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (33/1 +67%)Laplander |
33/1(+67%) | (10) Laplander 33/1, Showed a mildly promising debut when comfortably held in a juvenile hurdle here last time. Returns from a short break and is effective at 2m but looks vulnerable in this grade. Failed to make much of a splash over C&D on hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (50/1 +60%)Air Apparent |
50/1(+60%) | (4) Air Apparent 50/1, Improved for debut experience when fourth, beaten 19l, in a maiden hurdle at Wincanton last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft ground. Probably one for handicaps after this. Likely to find better opportunities in handicaps shortly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (22/1 +45%)Typhoon Warrior |
22/1(+45%) | (8) Typhoon Warrior 22/1, Made a promising debut when third, beaten 12l, in a novice hurdle at Market Rasen last time. Effective over 2m to 2 1/2m and represents a top yard. There may be more to come. Has made a consistent start to his career but this looks a stiff task. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (125/1 +38%)Gulf Coast Highway |
125/1(+38%) | (6) Gulf Coast Highway 125/1, Stopped quickly down the field in a novice hurdle here on his most recent run. Has plenty to prove on that evidence. Has finished last in two C&D events for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (125/1 +38%)Famous Shoes |
125/1(+38%) | (5) Famous Shoes 125/1, Fell in a maiden hurdle at Wincanton last time when beaten. Returns from a short break and is effective over 12f on the Flat, acting on soft and good to firm ground. Yet to show much over hurdles. No promise in two attempts over hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

After losing his unbeaten record at Sandown, SOBER GLORY bounced back to score in fine style over C&D. Likely market rival Kadastral was no match for the son of Mount Nelson off level weights at Chepstow back in November, and a 4lb pull is unlikely to be enough given the rate at which the Hobbs/White gelding is improving. Kocktail Bleu could run into a place.

Bright-looking recruit FANTASY WORLD may take advantage of his age allowance. Sober Glory and Kadastral are respected.

1st (4) (11/8 +31%)A Pai De Nom |
11/8(+31%) | (4) A Pai De Nom 11/8, The yard won this race last year. Scored by a length off an 8lb lower mark at Cheltenham three starts ago. Effective from 2m to 2m5f and acts on soft and good ground. Progressing over hurdles and more to come for a top yard. 1st and 2nd in 2m5f handicaps; dam won at up to 3m and he now looks worth a go at it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (14/1 -17%)Alentejo |
14/1(-17%) | (9) Alentejo 14/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Ffos Las last time. The trainer is in form and this is his second run after a wind operation. Effective from around 2 1/4m to 2 1/2m and acts with cut. Graded placed in France and could leave his stable debut form behind. French hurdle winner on heavy; poor chase debut for new yard last month after long layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/2 -22%)Below The Radar |
11/2(-22%) | (6) Below The Radar 11/2, Ran to form when beaten 2 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark at Haydock last time. Effective over 2 1/2m and acts on any ground. A consistent performer over hurdles, who remains well treated on his novice form and could improve up in trip so holds strong claims. Stamina has not been proved after two attempts at 2m7f; ran well over 2m5f on latest start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (10/1 -33%)Tranquil Sea |
10/1(-33%) | (8) Tranquil Sea 10/1, The yard won this race last year. Never threatened but ran to form when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Windsor last time. Effective from 2m to 3m and acts on any ground. In form since joining his new yard. Mixed messages, including with proven stamina but a question over effectiveness in the mud. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (28/1 -12%)Might I |
28/1(-12%) | (1) Might I 28/1, Outpaced, needed the run and likely found the ground too quick when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Worcester last time. Effective over 2 1/2m and acts with cut. Now back below his last winning mark and a threat if fit and ready back on easy ground. £35,000 buy last May and had a remote finish at Worcester in July on his only start since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (8/1 +60%)Kapal Layar |
8/1(+60%) | (5) Kapal Layar 8/1, Never travelled and was reportedly struck into when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Ascot last time. Cheekpieces are worn for the first time and he returns from a short break. Effective over 2 1/2m and was progressive in the spring. Disappointing this season and connections ring the changes in a major way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (11/1 -83%)Crebilly |
11/1(-83%) | (3) Crebilly 11/1, Found little and did not stay when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow last time. Effective at 2 1/2m and may not quite get 3m. His mark looks fair and he may be lined up for a spring target. Acts on heavy and well handicapped, but something to prove at present, including at 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (11/2 +31%)Kyntara |
11/2(+31%) | (2) Kyntara 11/2, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Haydock last time. Effective over 3m and suited by cut in the ground, but arrives in only moderate form and needs to bounce back from that latest effort but is dropping in weights. Needs to bounce back from a poor show at Haydock three weeks ago; player if he does. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (18/1 -29%)Goshhowposh |
18/1(-29%) | (7) Goshhowposh 18/1, Made mistakes and needed the run when comfortably held on his chase debut in a handicap at Chepstow last time. Returning from a long absence, he is effective over 3m and acts on soft and good ground, but is inconsistent and needs to show his ability remains. Stays well; best effort on good to soft; out of form when he was last seen 484 days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

This is open and a chance can be taken on KAPAL LAYAR. Olly Murphy's charge found real progress at the start of his hurdling career but has struggled since returning in November. However, his seasonal reappearance can be forgiven and he had excuses at Ascot latest. The Milan gelding now sport a first-time tongue-tie/cheekpieces combination having undergone wind surgery last month, whilst he could find progress at this longer trip. A Pai De Nom was far from disgraced in the Lanzarote and must be given the utmost respect, as must Below The Radar. Spare a thought for Crebilly too who, although well below-par of late, has become far too well treated to ignore.

A Pai De Nom is not passed over at all lightly but proven stamina would be reassuring and KYNTARA has that.

1st (3) (5/6 -35%)Haiti Couleurs |
5/6(-35%) | (3) Haiti Couleurs 5/6, Jumped boldly and improved back up in trip and down in class under a fine front-running ride when winning the Coral Welsh Grand National at Chepstow by 3l last time. Progressive Irish and Welsh National winner suited by 3m+. Has struggled when upped in class before but still progressing and looks the main threat. Amiss two runs back, otherwise superbly progressive; Welsh National was latest big win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (6/4 +25%)L'homme Presse |
6/4(+25%) | (1) L'homme Presse 6/4, Winner of two Grade 1s and from a yard that won this race last year. Game effort when second beaten 3/4l in the Cotswold Chase (Grade 2) at Cheltenham last time splitting pair of Grade 1 winners. Effective at 3m and remains classy. Sets standard and could be tough to peg back. Goes well on soft; should ensure that Haiti Couleurs does not have it all his own way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/1 +71%)Leave Of Absence |
4/1(+71%) | (4) Leave Of Absence 4/1, Travelled well and improved again when second, beaten a head, in the Silver Cup Handicap Chase at Ascot last time. Trainer in form and enjoys making it, is effective at 3m and may get further. Progressive handicapper looks out of depth here. Pulled up sole start on soft; plenty to find against two of today's rivals on the ratings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (40/1 +0%)Riskintheground |
40/1(+0%) | (2) Riskintheground 40/1, Unsuited by soft ground when finishing down the field in the Betfair Exchange Handicap Chase at Cheltenham most recently. Effective at 2 1/2m and is probably high enough in the weights now. Up against it up in class. Plenty to prove on soft ground and for stamina; he's also clear bottom on ratings. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Haiti Couleurs put his Betfair Chase blip behind him to land the Welsh National in fine style and although the gelding will be eyeing loftier targets come the spring, landing this prize would only strengthen his claims. That said, it might pay to side with L'HOMME PRESSE on this occasion. Venetia Williams' veteran rolled back the years to finish an excellent second in the Cotswold and, if able to find that rhythm out in front once again, he might be tough to reel in. Leave Of Absence can chase the pair home ahead of Riskintheground.

L'Homme Presse remains a serious rival despite giving him 2lb but the tip has to be HAITI COULEURS.

1st (2) (4/11 +55%)Lulamba |
4/11(+55%) | (2) Lulamba 4/11, Winner of two Grade 1s, including a decisive 9 1/2l success in the Henry VIII Novices' Chase at Sandown last time. That form nothing special but debut effort has been franked in a Grade 2. Trainer is in form. Effective at 2m and a top-class performer over hurdles and fences, with scope to improve further over longer distances. Can take step into open company in his stride before heading to Arkle. Exciting youngster; impressive in Grade 1 at Sandown most recently; Arkle favourite. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (6/1 -20%)Saint Segal |
6/1(-20%) | (7) Saint Segal 6/1, Improved again when second, beaten 10l, in the Desert Orchid Handicap Chase (Grade 2) at Kempton last time, though unable to reverse form with the winner. That form has been franked in the Clarence House. Effective over 2m to 2 1/2m and remains a hugely progressive chaser. Very consistent; runner-up in two notable handicaps this term; rock-solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (10/1 -67%)Libberty Hunter |
10/1(-67%) | (5) Libberty Hunter 10/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced when fourth, beaten 42l, in the Tingle Creek Chase (Grade 1) at Sandown last time. Returns from a short break. Effective at 2m and a very useful chaser, though jumping is becoming an issue at this level. Runner up in this last year and not dismissed. Good second in this contest 12 months ago; enters calculations back here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (25/1 -79%)Calico |
25/1(-79%) | (4) Calico 25/1, Ran right up to his best when winning a handicap chase at Ascot by 2 1/4l last time. Comes here after a short break. Effective at 2m and generally consistent, although his mark may now be high enough. Two from two this term; better than ever and looks worth his place in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (25/1 -194%)Master Chewy |
25/1(-194%) | (1) Master Chewy 25/1, Won this race last year and ran well when second, beaten 2l, in the Silviniaco Conti Chase (Grade 2) at Kempton last time. Visor worn for the first time. Effective at 2m and just about stays 2 1/2m; generally consistent. Landed this prize last year but incurs a bigger penalty this time; headgear fitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (12/1 +64%)Meetmebythesea |
12/1(+64%) | (6) Meetmebythesea 12/1, Won a novice chase at Ayr by 2l last time. Effective over 2m to 2 1/2m. His debut form has been franked at Graded level and there is much more to come over fences, with further improvement expected back on better ground but this a big ask as a novice. Has the worst chance at the weights but is progressive and could go well. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Nicky Henderson is no stranger to running a top-class novice in this contest as a preparation for the Cheltenham Festival, with Sprinter Sacre (2012) and Altior (2017) both hugely impressive before landing the Arkle, and LULAMBA bids to follow his illustrious stablemates. The five-year-old made the perfect start to life over fences at Exeter before underlining his class in the Henry VIII at Sandown and the sky appears to be the limit. Saint Segal has looked a reformed character in the past 12 months, with Thistle Ask being the only horse to beat him on his last five starts. Master Chewy won this prize last year and sports a first-time visor, but he does face a stiff enough task giving 5lb to the selection and 6lb to the remainder.

Exciting LULAMBA has the perfect credentials in his bid to become a third esteemed novice chaser to land this prize for Nicky Henderson.

1st (1) (10/3 +58%)Tutti Quanti |
10/3(+58%) | (1) Tutti Quanti 10/3, Landed the Gerry Feilden Intermediate Handicap Hurdle by 3l off an 8lb lower mark here last time. Kept fresh for this since and mark protected. Off a short break; effective at 2m and likely to get further, though may need some cut. Fair mark on novice form and could progress. Progressive; registered a clearcut success in notable C&D handicap last time; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (12/1 +52%)Wellington Arch |
12/1(+52%) | (4) Wellington Arch 12/1, Made too much use of and needed the run when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Windsor on return. Had been in good form previously; enjoys making it and is effective at 2 1/2m. Should come on for that outing but this track may not be ideal. Generally consistent until disappointing last time; his handicap form is over 2m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (33/1 +0%)Faivoir |
33/1(+0%) | (5) Faivoir 33/1, Failed to stay when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Ascot over an extended trip last time. More effective around 2m and capable off this mark if conditions suit but stable second string on jockey bookings. Useful on his day but isn't solid on this season's form; beaten twice in this contest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (11/1 -83%)Un Sens A La Vie |
11/1(-83%) | (6) Un Sens A La Vie 11/1, Did it cosily when running to form under a positive ride to win a novice hurdle by 5l at Ludlow last time. Off a short break; effective at 2m, though a point winner who should get further and looks useful. Novice hurdler; could be well treated and his yard has landed this race three times. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (16) (11/1 +8%)Dance And Glance |
11/1(+8%) | (16) Dance And Glance 11/1, Won by a head off a 5lb lower mark at Ascot two starts ago. Ran to form up in class when second, beaten 1 1/2l, despite racing keenly, off 120 last time. Suited by 2m on a sound surface and remains on a fair mark. Usually runs his race and can make presence felt. Consistent sort; ties in with All In You on last two performances; should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (14/1 +44%)Wreckless Eric |
14/1(+44%) | (12) Wreckless Eric 14/1, Did not stay when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Kempton over an increased trip last time. More effective at 2m and may not get further; generally consistent and likely to benefit from a drop back in distance. Close second in last season's Imperial Cup; form has dipped in three runs since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (11/1 -57%)Lanesborough |
11/1(-57%) | (7) Lanesborough 11/1, Won by 8 1/2l off a 14lb lower mark at Doncaster two starts ago. Ran to form up in grade when fifth, beaten 10l, off 130 last time, flattening out late over further. Effective at 2m–2 1/2m with cut; form remains strong and stiff test at galloping track will suit down in trip. Ran creditably in the Lanzarote; may still have more to offer and remains of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (28/1 -27%)Bubble Dubi |
28/1(-27%) | (9) Bubble Dubi 28/1, Was too keen but still did it cosily when improving again to land a handicap by 11l off a 9lb lower mark at Aintree last time. Off a short break; effective around 2m, though now has to contend with a higher mark. However that form has been franked and he has a good record fresh so of interest. Scored readily at Aintree in sole outing this season but the form may not be reliable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (14) (20/1 -67%)The Hardest Geezer |
20/1(-67%) | (14) The Hardest Geezer 20/1, Travelled well but flattened out when running to form in fourth, beaten 6l, in a handicap hurdle at Windsor last time. Effective at 2m with cut; consistent overall, though his mark is edging up. Second-season hurdler who is proving consistent and should give his running; solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (5/2 +0%)Let It Rain |
5/2(+0%) | (13) Let It Rain 5/2, Travelled well but made mistakes and was out-battled late by a race-fit rival when beaten 3/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Ascot last time. Off a short break; effective at 2m, with form working out well and a lenient-looking mark. Looks to have been plotted for this and is the one to beat. Good effort in sole start this term; open to plenty of further improvement; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (7/1 -17%)All In You |
7/1(-17%) | (10) All In You 7/1, Travelled strongly and did it easily when improving to land a handicap by 1 1/2l off a 5lb lower mark at Sandown last time. Effective at 2m; unexposed, with strong handicap debut form and could remain ahead of the assessor. Scored comfortably at Sandown last time, reversing Ascot placings with Dance And Glance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (16/1 +0%)Milldam |
16/1(+0%) | (11) Milldam 16/1, Outpaced but returned to form off a reduced mark when beaten 7l in a handicap hurdle at Windsor last time, racing close enough to a strong pace. Effective at 2m and suited by plenty of cut; on a fair mark if building on that run. Interesting if the ground is heavy; successful in last four attempts on that surface. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) (33/1 +18%)Poet Laureate |
33/1(+18%) | (15) Poet Laureate 33/1, Won by 3l off an 8lb lower mark at Wincanton two starts ago. Made too much use of when ninth, beaten 23l, up in class off 121 last time. Effective at 2m; progressive until that effort, but this mark looks stiff. Folded tamely in the Windsor event won by Hot Fuss; has gained his wins in Class 4. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (40/1 -60%)Go Dante |
40/1(-60%) | (2) Go Dante 40/1, Scored by 3/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Sandown two starts ago. Outpaced and unsuited by the track when tenth, beaten 26l, off 134 last time. Effective at 2m with cut; inconsistent but a dual Imperial Cup winner who has run well in this before. Dual winner of the Imperial Cup at Sandown; beaten twice off lower marks in this race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (50/1 -79%)Bucephalus |
50/1(-79%) | (3) Bucephalus 50/1, Went clear mid-race and returned to form down in trip under an aggressive ride, beaten 1 1/2l off a 2lb lower mark at Haydock last time. Enjoys making it; effective at 2m with cut, though this remains a stiff mark. Faces a stiffer task in this field but is hard to dismiss, being 2-2 in C&D handicaps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Let It Rain caught the eye on her handicap debut when returning at Ascot just before Christmas and shaping as though she would improve plenty for the outing. She can reverse placings with Dance And Glance (winner) and All In You (second), with the pair having backed that form up when the latter gained his revenge at Sandown a fortnight later, but the vote goes to UN SENS A LA VIE. Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies' charge follows a tried and tested route, with all three of the yard's previous winners having been novices, and the six-year-old, who chased home the exciting Old Park Star on his penultimate start at Kempton, may well be fairly treated off a mark of 130. Tutti Quanti won the Gerry Feilden over C&D and commands respect along with Lanesborough, who finished fifth in the Lanzarote.

This looks the ideal next step for Gerry Feilden winner TUTTI QUANTI (nap), who is first choice ahead of Un Sens A La Vie.

11/2(+73%) | (8) Holloway Queen 11/2, Returned to form when jumping much better and finishing fourth, beaten 5 1/4l, in a handicap chase here last time. The trainer is in form and she is on a good mark based on novice hurdle form, so remains competitive if jumping holds up. Ran well to be fourth here in December when Captain Bellamy was runner-up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (4/1 +33%)Knight Of Allen |
4/1(+33%) | (5) Knight Of Allen 4/1, Won a handicap here by 3/4l off a 5lb lower mark two runs back. Was outpaced but ran to form when fourth in a strong novice chase at Cheltenham last time, and is progressing over fences with his mark looking fair. Course winner; ran well at the weights in a novice chase at Cheltenham a month ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (14/1 +58%)Tune In A Box |
14/1(+58%) | (10) Tune In A Box 14/1, Hampered early and never threatened when well beaten in a handicap chase at Uttoxeter last time. Effective over 2m3f-3m but has yet to fire over fences. Yet to get anything going over fences (0-3) and this race is no easier. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (6/1 +0%)Silver Thorn |
6/1(+0%) | (7) Silver Thorn 6/1, Improved when well treated up 6lb, suited by positive handling when landing a handicap by 2l at Exeter last time off a 4lb lower mark. Effective at around 3m and is progressive over fences with form franked so holds solid claims. Just four got round at Exeter but the handicapper didn't go overboard with a 4lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/2 -29%)Jig's Forge |
9/2(-29%) | (1) Jig's Forge 9/2, Improved up in trip and was suited by a positive ride when winning a beginners' chase here by 1 1/2l last time. Comes here off a short break, is effective over 2m4f-3m, and is progressing over fences as the trip increases. Looks well treated back in a handicap. Won a match here last time, beating a smart rival; Grade 1 entry at Cheltenham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (10/3 +49%)Captain Bellamy |
10/3(+49%) | (9) Captain Bellamy 10/3, This yard has won three of the last five runnings of this race. Beaten a short-head here last time off a 3lb lower mark where he conceded first run having met trouble, he is on a good mark based on hurdle form which includes a victory here and can win soon over fences, likely appreciating 3m. Only 3lb higher than for narrow defeat here at Christmas when he looked unlucky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (16/1 -33%)U Cant Be Serious |
16/1(-33%) | (3) U Cant Be Serious 16/1, This yard won this race last year. Scored by 1/2l at Exeter off a 6lb lower mark two runs ago but was outpaced and well held when ninth, beaten 31l, off the same mark last time. The handicapper may have caught up. 2-3 over fences and the defeat looked too bad to be true; others still appeal more. |

|PU| (6) (5/1 +0%)Itseemslikeit |
5/1(+0%) | (6) Itseemslikeit 5/1, Improved again when landing a handicap by 4l at Ffos Las last time off a 7lb lower mark. Effective at 3m and has more to come, with the possibility of completing a hat-trick but this a much tougher test. 2-2 over fences, over 3m on heavy; firmly on the upgrade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (22/1 -38%)Toss Of A Coin |
22/1(-38%) | (4) Toss Of A Coin 22/1, Won a handicap by 2l at Chepstow two starts ago off a 5lb lower mark. Effective over 2m4f-3m and open to further progress now, possibly after having had issues. 17-2 to defy this 5lb higher mark at Exeter but he unseated at the start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (28/1 -100%)Pour Les Filles |
28/1(-100%) | (2) Pour Les Filles 28/1, Returned to form on chase debut when landing a handicap by 15l at Ffos Las last time, aided by the main rival falling late, off a 4lb lower mark. Effective over 2 1/2m and may do better still for the new yard. Had some luck on his side when making a successful chase/stable debut at Ffos Las. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Having got the better of a subsequent winner over 2m4f here in December, KNIGHT OF ALLEN ran as well as expected when finishing fourth in a novice chase at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. The six-year-old should prove more competitive reverting to handicap company and he's taken to regain the winning thread. Course winner Jig's Forge likely has better days ahead of him as well and may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of the hat-trick seeking Silver Thorn.

This is no easy race in which to defy top weight but JIG'S FORGE was a useful hurdler who is already looking a superior chaser.

1st (1) (12/1 +14%)A Likeable Rogue |
12/1(+14%) | (1) A Likeable Rogue 12/1, Ran to form when benefitting from a drop in class to win a bumper at Wetherby by 2l last time. Effective at 2m on soft ground and arrives in form, with this step back up in class looking worthwhile. Fourth in a Listed race before a decisive win on soft at Wetherby; promising. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (33/1 -18%)Get Out Of My Way |
33/1(-18%) | (2) Get Out Of My Way 33/1, Very promising debut when a 2 1/2l winner in a maiden bumper at Market Rasen. Returns from a short break and is effective at 2m on good to soft, but the debut form looks weak and plenty more is needed. Prevailed in a sprint finish on debut and likely that he's better than that bare form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (6/1 +33%)Trojan Tale |
6/1(+33%) | (10) Trojan Tale 6/1, Very promising debut when a 7 1/2l winner in a bumper at Wincanton. Effective at 2m on heavy ground, but the debut form is yet to be tested and more is required now stepping up in class. Easily won a race for newcomers at Wincanton and the ground was testing that day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (16/1 -33%)Half Hoping |
16/1(-33%) | (4) Half Hoping 16/1, Improved for debut experience when winning a bumper at Fontwell by 6l last time. Stays 2m and possibly further, acts on soft ground, and with the debut form franked, testing conditions would be in his favour. Closely matched with No Walkover on debut run; then won comfortably at Fontwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (33/1 +59%)Not Without Danger |
33/1(+59%) | (5) Not Without Danger 33/1, Needed the run when well beaten in a bumper at Cheltenham on his latest start. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time, returns from a break, is effective at 2m, and could bounce back down in class. Debut second reads well and he's had a lengthy break since his Cheltenham demise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (10/3 -67%)Risky Obsession |
10/3(-67%) | (8) Risky Obsession 10/3, Very promising debut when beating a previous winner to land a bumper at Warwick by 6 1/2l last time. Effective at 2m on good to soft, has joined a top yard, and is expected to have much more to come. Impressive win at Warwick and has to be of strong interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (22/1 +78%)Wonder Flying |
22/1(+78%) | (11) Wonder Flying 22/1, Ran to form when finishing third, beaten 6 1/4l, in a bumper at Aintree on his most recent run. Effective at 2m on soft and good ground, he is consistent but needs more to be competitive at this level. Has finished behind A Likeable Rogue and No Walkover in his last two races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (6/4 +40%)No Walkover |
6/4(+40%) | (6) No Walkover 6/4, Improved from his debut when winning a bumper at Aintree by 5l last time. Effective at 2m on soft ground, he looks a promising sort with the form franked and holds a solid chance despite this step up in class. 2-2 in bumpers, looking good last time; already useful and has the scope to keep improving. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (17/2 +39%)No Way Jay |
17/2(+39%) | (7) No Way Jay 17/2, Bit free but ran to form when fourth, beaten 7 1/4l, in the King Edward VII Ascot Membership NH Flat Race (Listed) at Ascot last time. Returns from a short break, is effective at 2m on good ground, and remains in good form. Fair fourth in Ascot Listed race but that run appeared to expose his limitations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (12/1 +25%)Governors Rock |
12/1(+25%) | (3) Governors Rock 12/1, Improved again when dictating a modest gallop to win a 4yo bumper at Ballinrobe by 5 1/2l last time. Returns from a break, is effective at 2m on soft and good, and the form has been franked so further progress is possible for new stable. Bought for £100,000 after defying a penalty with some comfort at Ballinrobe. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

RISKY OBSESSION looked one to follow when scooting away on his Rules bow at Warwick 38 days ago. Dan Skelton's charge had previously landed a point-to-point and he could take this en route to a tilt at the Champion Bumper. Governors Rock impressed when completing a double at Ballinrobe for his previous trainer in September and he's not taken lightly on his stable debut for Warren Greatrex. A Likeable Rogue and No Walkover are others of interest.

It was very taking in how RISKY OBSESSION dealt with debut winner Smile John Boy at Warwick and he earns the vote.
Ths is the racecard key.
