13:35 Newbury (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

QUEENIE ST CLAIR, a gutsy winner at Wincanton on Boxing Day, banished the memory of a below-par run at Taunton when she scored emphatically at Fontwell last Sunday. Turned out again under a penalty, the six-year-old mare can follow up with the ground still to her liking. Eddie My Eagle debuts in a handicap off a workable mark and is respected after tasting success at Plumpton. However, the class-dropping Treasure Planet could be a bigger danger.

Queenie St Clair appears to have a great chance but UNJEU ROYAL is a plausible alternative. Eddie My Eagle looks solid.

14:10 Newbury (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

BRENTFORD HOPE won in handicap company at Haydock and was turned out a week later to pick up valuable prize money when third to The New Lion in an unsatisfactory renewal of the International at Cheltenham. Connections will have been relieved that the handicapper left him alone and a 4lb rise for Haydock appears to be more than fair. Melon's third at Cheltenham in December gives him every chance, while there was an excuse for Doctor Blue's Doncaster disappointment but he did show a darker side to his nature at Exeter last week.

He has achieved the least of these in the current campaign but RUBBER BALL is from an in-form stable and he drops back in trip.

14:40 Newbury (Class 3) 19f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

SCORSESE finished third in a stronger race behind Jordans Cross at Cheltenham last month when arguably producing a career-best effort. The ease in grade represents an ideal opportunity for the eight-year-old to gain a second victory over the larger obstacles. Mon Champion fell when holding every chance at Leicester and has shaped as though stepping up in trip would bring about some improvement. Rodney and Noble Park appear best of the remainder.

Improving RODNEY has impressive stats and may again defy top weight with Charlie Deutsch keeping the ride. Scorsese is second pick.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

TORN AND FRAYED posted a determined effort to finish second in a similar event at Cheltenham and he has a decent chance of going one better off an unchanged mark. Eldorado Allen was one place (and seven lengths) back in third that day and is another to consider closely judged on this season's form. Brave Kingdom could be a bigger danger now he has topped up his match fitness following a solid display at Taunton.

The Verdict comprises BRAVE KINGDOM and Our Power, who are both interesting switched to the veterans' sphere for the first time.

15:45 Newbury (Class 1) 19f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

VINCENZO is tough, reliable and effective on the forecast going. Attributes that give him a solid chance of supplementing last month's Ascot success off just 2lb higher. Issam was a cosy winner at Kempton and a 7lb rise could be manageable if he's in the same form. Pleasington is an interesting alternative at the forecast odds. He is unexposed over fences/this trip and his second-placed finish here at the Christmas fixture reads well.

Another chance is given to the novice chaser PLEASINGTON. Vincenzo, who looks rock solid, is second pick.

16:58 Newbury (Class 2) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

MALINA ROAD is unbeaten in two bumpers, having won at Ludlow before taking a Listed contest at Market Rasen, and Fergal O'Brien's mare makes plenty of appeal despite conceding weight all round. Princess Day won on her Rules debut at Chepstow and this flatter track may well see her in a better light. Fairy Park impressed in a point-to-point at Dromahane last April and she commands plenty of respect too.

None of these can be ruled out but PRINCESS DAY looked a useful prospect at Chepstow and can extend her winning sequence.
