Alexei lost his unbeaten record over hurdles when pitched into Listed company at Exeter last month. The five-year-old makes his handicap bow stepping back up in trip, but a mark of 130 may prove on the steep side. Similar comments apply to Glynn Brae, who boasts wide-margin victories at Fontwell in 2025, despite jumping to his right both times. The vote goes to CALIMYSTIC after a comfortable success at Doncaster on just his second run over timber.

Plenty of in-form sorts to consider, with NORN IRON just about the most persuasive option. Still unexposed for Harry Derham, he chased home a next-time-out winner at this venue on his penultimate start and was better than the result when heavily backed at Doncaster latest. Serious Challenge has the scope to do better in this sphere given his Flat form, with Calimystic completing the shortlist.

It's a hard choice in this promising line-up but OLD COWBOY could be the way to go, ahead of Calimystic.

Saint Segal has been revitalised since a change to front-running tactics resulted in a win over C&D in December and he arrives following a solid effort to finish third in the Greatwood Gold Cup. Another bold bid is expected, but a chance is given to THEATRE MAN. The nine-year-old wasn't at his best in the early part of the season, but a wind operation and a falling handicap mark might see him bounce back. Others to note are Bob Bob Ricard and Real Stone.

RISKINTHEGROUND hasn't made much of an impact of late but he hinted at a return to form at Huntingdon 3 weeks ago so could be worth chancing now just 1 lb above his last winning mark. The in-form Saint Segal is a solid alternative, with Theatre Man another to keep an eye on back from a break (has had breathing operation).

The bold shows up front on his last three starts, two of which were over C&D, point to SAINT SEGAL (nap) as the most solid option.

JASMINE BLISS proved too strong for La Pinsonniere at Southwell earlier in the month and Harry Derham's top-weight boasts strong credentials in her bid to make it a hat-trick of victories. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if La Pinsonniere could at least close the gap with cheekpieces applied for the first time, while her stable companion Crazierthandaisy is open to improvement having got off the mark over timber at Warwick in December. Siog Geal and Sunset Marquesa are others for the shortlist.

SIOG GEAL should relish the step up to 2½m and can strike from what looks a favourable opening handicap mark. Pismo Beach, Crazierthandaisy and Jasmine Bliss are other newcomers to the handicap ranks who should have more to offer.

Stepping up markedly in trip may seal the deal for SIOG GEAL and she gets the vote ahead of Jasmine Bliss.

A highly promising second on his hurdles debut at Ludlow, when poor jumping arguably cost him, JOHN BARBOUR is entitled to improve plenty for that effort and can go one better. Turned over at short odds when carrying a penalty at Wincanton, Don't Mind If I Do has every chance of bouncing back, while I Play County boosted his confidence with a success at Southwell. Coconut Grove won his sole start on the level in France and is an interesting recruit for Harry Fry.

DON'T MIND IF I DO disappointed when turned over at short odds last time, but his previous form reads well, not least his second in a big-field bumper here last spring, so he's well worth another chance to defy a penalty. John Barbour can improve on his opening effort in this sphere at Ludlow, while Judgementofsolomon is a noteworthy newcomer to hurdling based on his fairly useful Flat form.

Alan King's DON'T MIND IF I DO might have been unsuited by heavy ground last time and is the one to beat judged on previous form.

The Nigel Twiston-Davies team could have a sharp one on their hands in the shape of AT THE OCHE, who struck at the first time of asking at Doncaster and is likely to have plenty of improvement forthcoming. A promising runner-up at Kempton, Kadastral can follow him home, while Connect The Dots was a determined scorer at Catterick and that resolution will stand him in good stead. Point-to-point winner Hard Stare and newcomer My Fortune stand out for stables that usually go well in this sphere.

TIDDESLEY WOOD was an eyecatcher on his Doncaster debut in January and can build on that promise and land this valuable prize. Recent Doncaster scorer At The Oche and Dan Skelton Kempton runner-up Kadastral are others likely to go well, while point bumper winner Hard Stare is one to note in the betting for a yard which tasted success in this race 2 years ago.

The pick of those to have run is KADASTRAL who shaped with conspicuous promise on his debut at Kempton and can go one better.

TEDDY BLUE supplemented a Huntingdon triumph at Kempton last week and is quickly turned out off a 4lb higher rating. Harry Derham's seven-year-old makes only his fourth chase start and could have plenty more to offer so he can complete the hat-trick. Javert Allen hasn't been out of the top two in any of his seven starts, most recently when just denied at Chepstow, and it would be no surprise to see him feature again off 4lb higher. Major Fortune is another to keep an eye on.

JAVERT ALLEN can consider himself unlucky not to be unbeaten over fences, ridden perhaps a shade too aggressively when narrowly denied at Chepstow last month. With further progress on the cards, he can regain the winning thread at the expense of Major Fortune, who left his chasing debut effort well behind when finding just one too good at Leicester recently. Teddy Blue, who did plenty wrong when scoring at Kempton last week, completes the shortlist.

The bang-in-form Javert Allen is feared but conditions should be ideal for BALLYBREEZE who shaped quite well over C&D last time.

Rivers Corner showed a liking for first-time blinkers when going in over track and trip and commands huge respect off only a 5lb higher rating. However, he might come out second best to KING'S THRESHOLD, who made his way through the field to run out a five-length victor over 2m4f at Warwick. The Emma Lavelle-trained eight-year-old struck over this distance at Huntingdon prior to that and could continue his rise through the ranks. C&D winner Neon Moon completes the shortlist.

KING'S THRESHOLD is the improver in the line-up and can land the hat-trick. Fidelio Vallis seemed to turn the corner at Doncaster 3 weeks ago and is interesting back down in trip from a reduced mark. C&D winner Neon Moon goes well fresh and is another to consider.

King's Threshold is second choice but RIVERS CORNER has looked a rising force with the switch to chasing and blinkers.
Ths is the racecard key.
