17:50 Newbury (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GORDON GREY has been in fine fettle in both codes of late and is likely to prove a warm order to follow up his 11-length romp at Epsom. A 5lb penalty for the five-year-old looks far from insurmountable and a sixth career victory could be imminent. The biggest threat may emerge from Fast Steps, who arrives here in better heart than most. Vaynor may fare best of the remainder with his sights lowered.

Gordon Grey, Azahara Palace and Alazwar need considering but FAST STEPS likes it here and Patrick Millman knows him well.

18:22 Newbury (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Having shown promise with her debut sixth in a class 2 novice here last month, it could be worth taking a chance on BOX CLEVER. The daughter of Zoustar should have learned plenty from that experience and these calmer waters could prove fruitful. Speculative was a place behind the selection and is also entitled to improve, although a bigger threat may emerge from newcomer Darkwing, who requires monitoring in the betting.

Darkwing is a fascinating newcomer but CRYSTAL PIER holds strong claims on her encouraging debut over C&D and can open her account.

19:02 Newbury (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A drop into class 5 company did the trick for Snake Charmer when making all at Brighton earlier this month and he warrants respect on his handicap bow, but WHO IS ALICE is slightly more compelling. Jack Channon's filly opened her account at Chepstow 13 days ago and an initial mark of 69 could prove to be lenient. Strength of Spirit and Mehmas Air Force are others of interest.

None of these are ruled out but WHO IS ALICE still looked raw when getting off the mark last time and could be leniently treated.

19:33 Newbury (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A confident vote goes to KITTY FOYLE. Daisy Hitchins' mare was narrowly defeated by an in-form rival over C&D last month and given that she is able to compete from an unchanged mark, she should be capable of going one place better. Captain Brett has been in fine form himself, though, and he could mount a stern challenge. Market support for handicap debutant Cheshire Belle, who takes a marked step up in trip, would be noteworthy.

Kitty Foyle narrowly failed to nab a subsequent winner over C&D last time but DEEP WATER BAY retains potential and gets the vote.

20:03 Newbury (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Dropping in trip worked the oracle for SHADY BAY, who bounded clear to record a five-length success under Alec Voikhansky at Nottingham. Tom Ward's filly was hit with a 6lb rise for that performance, but it may well prove lenient. Finn Russell struggled over hurdles latest, but he will appreciate a return to the level and is respected along with Premier, who arrives having finished a creditable third at Sandown last month.

The shrewd connections of LIGHTNING TOUCH clearly feel it's worth persevering and she earns the vote on this handicap debut.

20:33 Newbury (Class 5) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

It looks best to side with MONKMOOR PIP, who won with any amount in hand at Lingfield recently. Ashley Lewis' handy 7lb claim offsets the 6lb rise incurred for that success and this represents a fine opportunity for him to follow up. Naasma was also a commanding winner last time out and must be given the utmost respect, while the consistent Meleri appeals most of the remainder.

This can go to MONKMOOR PIP (nap), who's only run twice on turf/over middle distances and could be capable of better.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
