7/1(+7%) | (2) Annandale 7/1, Ran to form, just flattening out late after being slightly short of room when beaten 3l off a 1lb higher mark here last time; top course jockey; effective 10-14f; mark falling but not in best form. Not disgraced over C&D last twice; feasibly treated and likely to be in the mix. |

4th (3) (4/1 +67%)Maywedance |
4/1(+67%) | (3) Maywedance 4/1, Scored by a nose off a 3lb lower mark at Kempton penultimate start; below form back down in trip, ninth beaten 6 1/2l off 60 last time, same mark here; effective 12-14f; inconsistent but could bounce back up in trip. 1m4f Kempton win in November; likely unsuited by shorter trip since; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (7/2 +13%)Saahir |
7/2(+13%) | (7) Saahir 7/2, Well backed but below form up in trip on handicap debut, beaten 6l in a handicap at Kempton last time; effective 8-10f; must bounce back with stamina to prove. Only sixth when favourite for recent handicap bow but evidently thought capable of better. |

50/1(-100%) | (8) Hobgoblin 50/1, Outpaced and looked in need of a stiffer test when down the field in a novice at Southwell most recently; cheekpieces first time; type to do better handicapping now upped to middle distances. Well held over 7f/1m but longer trip bred to suit now handicapping in first-time headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (28/1 -75%)Tracker Issue |
28/1(-75%) | (9) Tracker Issue 28/1, Made too much use of when down the field in a handicap here most recently; effective 10f; fair mark on Irish form but unreliable. Close second over C&D in November but stopped quickly back here 15 days later. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

V POWER showed the benefits of a break when on target at Wolverhampton. Zoe Lewis, who keeps the partnership intact, is able to claim her full allocation of 7lb and given that her mount escapes a penalty, this could be another fine opportunity. Time Turner went close over 1m2f here and is appealing now upped in trip, while Saahir could bounce back having let favourite-backers down at Kempton.

V Power will go well if able to back up a recent Wolverhampton win but his record raises doubts and he's taken on with TIME TURNER.

Effective at 7f and acts on all-weather; has a bit to prove after a couple of moderate runs. Second over 7f at Ayr in September but only seventh twice since, including here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (8/1 -14%)Star Of Emerald |
8/1(-14%) | (6) Star Of Emerald 8/1, Green and got behind early but made minor late headway when well beaten in a maiden here on only start. Bred to appreciate 1m and should have more to come. Green when well held on last week's C&D debut but should be more clued up now. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (25/1 -25%)Red House |
25/1(-25%) | (5) Red House 25/1, Badly out-kicked off a slow pace when wanting a stiffer test, finishing fourth beaten 8 1/4l in a novice here last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (100/1 -150%)Freezing Havana |
100/1(-150%) | (8) Freezing Havana 100/1, Failed to get home when stepped up in trip, beaten 9l in a novice here last time. Speedily bred, very light-framed, and looks limited at present. Well beaten in course novices over 6f and 1m in recent weeks. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

This is only a moderate event, emphasised by Five Cay's official rating of 69 being the standard to aim at. He finished a creditable second over the mile here latest, but will likely need a little more to come out on top and it is newcomer DAKOTA BREEZE who shades preference. The Sioux Nation colt is related to a few decent performers and that bodes well in a contest of this nature. Stromness didn't run too badly on his debut and might be capable of better.

Five Cay looks pick of those with experience but doesn't set the bar that high so is opposed with newcomer DAKOTA BREEZE.

1st (7) (7/4 +88%)Contorno |
7/4(+88%) | (7) Contorno 7/4, Disappointing on handicap debut when beaten 10l in a nursery at Redcar last time. Returns from a break and looks effective over 5-6f on this surface; must bounce back on AW debut. Well held in four turf runs last year, including handicap; makes AW debut after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (13/2 -44%)Mystical Land |
13/2(-44%) | (3) Mystical Land 13/2, Ran to form when dropped in trip, beaten 2l off a 1lb higher mark here last time. Effective over 6f on this surface and his official mark looks about right. Fourth in two course handicaps; only had five starts so may not have reached his limit. |

7/2(-75%) | (5) Mademoiselle Belle 7/2, Ran to form when beaten 2l off this mark at Southwell last time. Has a wide draw but is effective over 5/6f on this surface and her mark looks competitive. Second to improvers in 6f Southwell h'caps last twice; player if as effective back at 5f. |

5/1(+50%) | (4) The Tunguska Event 5/1, Won by 3 1/4l off a 7lb lower mark here three starts back. Eased once held but ran poorly when seventh, beaten 11l off 59 last time, now 2lb lower. Trainer in form; small type who may have lost form but is effective at 6f on this surface. Hasn't built on 6f course win in blinkers but new headgear (visor) could work well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/1 -100%)Ya Habibti |
9/1(-100%) | (2) Ya Habibti 9/1, Only ran about to form when ridden with more restraint, beaten 4l off a 2lb higher mark at Kempton last time. Effective over 6f on this surface and looks to have found her level. Only sixth of 13 on recent 6f Kempton handicap but drop to 6f may suit this free-goer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (5/1 0%)Aly A'ali |
5/1(0%) | (1) Aly A'ali 5/1, Set it up for closers when beaten 5l in a maiden here last time. Wears cheekpieces for the first time and returns from a break. Effective over 6f on a sound surface. Fair mark on maiden form, could progress in handicaps. Possible improver now handicapping for yard with good strike-rate here; check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (12/1 -20%)Amazon Jungle |
12/1(-20%) | (8) Amazon Jungle 12/1, Failed to show from off the pace when well beaten in a novice at Catterick last time. Trainer in form and usually held up in his races. May do better now handicapping. Jason Hart on yard's other runner but this handicap newcomer still needs a betting check. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A trappy contest in which a chance can be taken on ALY A'ALI. James Ferguson's filly showed ability in novice/maiden company without ever really threatening to win, but she moves into handicaps from a potentially workable mark and the addition of first-time cheekpieces could spark some improvement too. Mademoiselle Belle continues to knock at the door so must be respected, and Mystical Land should be more than capable of getting involved too.

The drop back to 5f is a slight worry for MADEMOISELLE BELLE but she's the most solid option after two good runner-up efforts this year.

5/1(+9%) | (4) Dingle 5/1, Back to form on the all-weather when suited by a positive ride, beaten 3/4l off a 1lb lower mark at Kempton last time. Effective at 1m and suited by the all-weather. Should come on for that run; mark looks high enough but has a solid AW record. Good second at Kempton latest and this dual C&D scorer merits plenty of respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/2 +65%)Nikovo |
7/2(+65%) | (2) Nikovo 7/2, No show from off the pace when well beaten in a handicap here last time. Returns from a short break. Effective over 7-8f and suited by all-weather; needs to bounce back. Back on same mark as when winning here last march but needs to step up on recent efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (7/1 -8%)Bajan Bandit |
7/1(-8%) | (8) Bajan Bandit 7/1, Scored by 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark here in December. A bit free but ran to form when third, beaten 1/2l off 72 last time, now on the same mark. Trainer in form. Suited by 7-8f and acts on any surface; in fine form and can go well again. Consistent since 7f course success last month but might be vulnerable for win here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (18/5 +28%)Tribal Wisdom |
18/5(+28%) | (5) Tribal Wisdom 18/5, Scored by a head off a 3lb lower mark at Wolverhampton in December. Ran to form when third, beaten 1 1/2l off 81 last time, now on the same mark. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Effective at 7-8f and acts on good to soft and all-weather. Form has been franked and could follow up. Hard not to be impressed by ready defeat of next-time-out winner latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (66/1 +0%)Helmsley |
66/1(+0%) | (6) Helmsley 66/1, Outpaced and below form when down in trip and well beaten in a handicap at Southwell last time. Effective at 8-10f and acts on good to soft and all-weather. Mark looks high and possibly a bit flattered by novice win. Turf win for Ralph Beckett in October but struggled in two AW handicaps for new yard since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (5/1 +44%)Urban Road |
5/1(+44%) | (7) Urban Road 5/1, Ran to form when beaten 3/4l off a 1lb lower mark here last time. Suited by 8-10f and all recent form on all-weather. Likely to be competitive again. Reliable on AW but doesn't obviously have much in hand of his mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

BRIDGET'S VIEW put an underwhelming ninth-placed handicap bow at Kempton behind her when scoring in ready fashion on her return from a break at Southwell. Although the assessor has reacted with a 10lb hike, there should be more to come from the four-year-old. Dual C&D winner Dingle displayed his well-being when runner-up on his reappearance at Kempton and may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Tribal Wisdom.

With the form of last month's Southwell win strongly boosted, even a 10lb rise may not prevent BRIDGET'S VIEW (nap) following up.

9/1(-125%) | (3) Surgeon Commander 9/1, Scored by a nose off a 1lb lower mark here penultimate start; poor effort when seventh beaten 10l off 56 last time, same mark here; effective at 6/7f on the all-weather; bit to prove after that poor run. Dead-heated over C&D last month; too free when only seventh at Wolverhamptron since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/1 +17%)Maynora |
10/1(+17%) | (5) Maynora 10/1, Made too much use of when back up in trip, beaten 6/4l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; suited by 6f, acts on the all-weather; needs the drop back in trip. No significant impact in four handicaps, including Wolverhampton on Monday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

7/4(+36%) | (7) Runninman 7/4, Produced best run to date fitted with cheekpieces, beaten a head off this mark here last time; top course jockey booked; suited by 7f on the all-weather; needs to back up that progress second time in headgear. 25/1(-56%) | (6) Fickle Mcselfish 25/1, Probably ran to form but was outclassed when well beaten in a novice at Southwell last time; bred to be effective over 7/8f; yet to show any reliable form. Well held all three starts and even mark of 53 demands plenty of improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (33/1 -408%)Quiet Serenade |
33/1(-408%) | (2) Quiet Serenade 33/1, Travelled but found nothing when down the field in a novice here last time; speedily bred, acts on the all-weather; moderate at best so far and disappointing latest. Showed ability in three 6f starts here last month and possible improver in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (5/2 +9%)Giles Glory |
5/2(+9%) | (4) Giles Glory 5/2, Scored by 1/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Lingfield penultimate start; suited by 7f, stays 1m, acts on a sound surface; penultimate start may represent his plateau form when first-time headgear was applied. 7f Lingfield win fortnight ago and too free over 1m there last week; worth another chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (10/3 +52%)The Caddy Master |
10/3(+52%) | (1) The Caddy Master 10/3, Ran to form when stepping up in trip, showing stamina when fourth beaten 6l in a nursery at Pontefract last time; trainer in form; off a short break; effective over 6/7f, may not stay further; competitive mark. No significant impact in handicaps last year and others are more persuasive. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

The step up to a mile looked to count against GILES GLORY when only fourth at Lingfield last week. A return to his previous winning distance at the same circuit should see Joseph Parr's inmate in a much better light, though, and a second career victory may beckon. The Caddy Master is heading in the right direction judged on his fourth at Pontefract in October and he's worth a second look, along with stable debutant Runninman.

Another chance is given to GILES GLORY back over 7f. Runninman may give him most to do.

C&D win on sole AW start and returns from a 104-day break off a dangerous mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (12/1 -20%)Arnhem |
12/1(-20%) | (7) Arnhem 12/1, Unusually below par when beaten 6 1/2l in a handicap here last time, having been in good form prior. Effective at 5f but ideally wants 6f and acts on all-weather. On a workable mark. Some good efforts since yard debut turf win in autumn but latest course seventh below par. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/1 -57%)Buzz Box |
11/1(-57%) | (2) Buzz Box 11/1, Showed a good attitude and improved again when landing a handicap by 1 1/4l off a 5lb lower mark here last time. Returning from a long layoff; effective at 5-6f and acts on all-weather. Progressive and could still be ahead of his mark. Won two C&D handicaps for Bryan Smart early last year but off since; betting should guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (14/1 -27%)King's Crown |
14/1(-27%) | (5) King's Crown 14/1, Scored by 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark here on his penultimate start and ran to form when fifth beaten 3l off 78 last time, running from the same mark here. Effective at 5-6f and acts on all-weather. On an upward curve though the handicapper may have caught up. C&D win number three on New Year's Day but lsat of give back here since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (18/1 -29%)Ventura Express |
18/1(-29%) | (4) Ventura Express 18/1, Poorly placed but never threatened when finishing down the field in a handicap at Redcar most recently. In good form prior; top course jockey booked and returning from a break. Suited by 5f and consistent until latest. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (25/1 -56%)Pop Star |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The eye is immediately drawn to NIGHT STORM, who hasn't looked back since returning from the sidelines, winning two on the bounce. James Tate's colt carried a penalty when successful by two lengths at Wolverhampton and can defy his opening rating of 87. Buzz Box has been off since completing a double over track and trip last March, but warrants a market check on his first outing for the Michael Herrington stable. King's Crown completes the shortlist.

There should be more to come from NIGHT STORM who can make light of an opening mark of 87 and stretch his unbeaten AW record to three.

12th (8) (14/1 -27%)Jamaican Storm |
14/1(-27%) | (8) Jamaican Storm 14/1, Ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off this mark at Southwell last time; top course jockey booked; wide draw; effective at 7/8f and best on AW; has a chance off same mark as latest. Plenty of creditable efforts on AW but his wait for a first win may go on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GOLDMOYNE had Concert Boy a length behind when filling the runner-up spot over track and trip earlier in the month and is expected to confirm that form. Off just a 1lb higher rating and with Luke Morris booked, he looks the one to beat. Jamaican Storm has made the frame the last twice and remains on the same mark so he has to be respected. Golden Strike is another to note.

The way in which AISLING OSCAR saw off Tasever over 1m here on Tuesday suggests a 5lb penalty may not end his winning spree.
Ths is the racecard key.
