|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/4 +56%)Mr Mistoffelees |
7/4(+56%) | (5) Mr Mistoffelees 7/4, Well backed beaten 1/2l off 75 over 8f here last time; up in trip; consistent sort and solid choice in a race where most others have questions to answer Sole win (19 races) was a novice in 2022 but recent results suggest he'll be bang there. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (10/1 +38%)Golspie |
10/1(+38%) | (8) Golspie 10/1, In good form at Wolverhampton and ran to mark beaten 2 1/2l off 63 over 9f at Wolverhampton last time; usually held up; should contend 0-16 since winning on debut; 2nd at Wolverhampton (9.4f, AW) in March on last two starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (4/1 +0%)Sea Legend |
4/1(+0%) | (4) Sea Legend 4/1, Won this last year off 3lb higher mark; ridden very cold and found some trouble last time here; capable of much better than that and possibility this race has been targeted Sole win (15 races) was this last year off 3lb higher; considered after 3rd on yard debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (11/2 +27%)Corundum |
11/2(+27%) | (7) Corundum 11/2, Probably needed race beaten 3 1/4l off 73 over 8f at Yarmouth on seasonal debut, but that was also handicap debut and brings into question whether novice runs flatter Fair fourth of five on handicap/seasonal debut; needs overall improvement; lightly raced. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (22/1 -100%)Solar Bentley |
22/1(-100%) | (9) Solar Bentley 22/1, Well backed beaten 3 1/4l off 62 at Redcar latest start in October, running about to form; quite nicely weighted, but may need run Heavy-ground winner but his AW form gives him a bit more to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (18/1 -29%)King Chaos |
18/1(-29%) | (1) King Chaos 18/1, Appeared not to stay down the field in a handicap over 2m here most recent run; visor first time and back to more suitable trip, yet to show novice form in handicap and not the most resolute 1m3f novice win at Southwell in December but backward steps in handicaps both starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (10/1 -150%)Run Of Luck |
10/1(-150%) | (10) Run Of Luck 10/1, Well treated at weights when landing a handicap by a length off 50 at Doncaster last time; has run poorly both starts on AW, but goes well for a claimer and can't be dismissed despite 6lb rise Initial stages of handicap career going well on turf; tailed off earlier on AW; 3lb wrong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (16/1 -167%)Not Me |
16/1(-167%) | (3) Not Me 16/1, Beaten 3 1/4l off 78 over 11f at Southwell last time possibly not quite seeing it out; drop back here probably a plus and on a fair mark Low-mileage; pretty consistent in AW handicaps; left J Ferguson for 16,000gns ten days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

RUN OF LUCK showed battling qualities to get back up and win at Doncaster in March and although 3lb out of the handicap, he may have plenty more to offer. Mr Mistoffelees has hit a top three finish on his last three starts and can also go well, while Golspie has finished second off this mark the last twice and represents a stable in good form.

Last year's winner SEA LEGEND looks of renewed interest following last month's encouraging first run for Jim Goldie.

6/5(+66%) | (1) Londoner 6/5, Probably needed race beaten 9l in a handicap at Newbury on reappearance, but is a very in and out performer; could figure if has come on for the run and is on a good day Never dangerous over 1m2f on debut for new connections; continues down the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (11/2 +54%)Miners Gamble |
11/2(+54%) | (8) Miners Gamble 11/2, Below par down the field in a handicap at Doncaster back on the Flat after mixed fortunes over hurdles; ran well here in January, but a few questions to answer now Sole win 1m1f; good third here (1m) in January but backward steps in both Flat races since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (10/1 -54%)Hosanna Power |
10/1(-54%) | (2) Hosanna Power 10/1, Probably needed race well beaten in a handicap at Ripon on seasonal debut; seemed to have regressed towards the end of 2024 and mark has not quite fallen as fast as it may need to Well held on stable/seasonal debut (14-1) but not entirely dismissed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 +14%)Cockalorum |
12/1(+14%) | (5) Cockalorum 12/1, Bit below pare both starts this term, latest comfortably held in a handicap at Ripon; seems generally regressive and though mark has dropped 10lb in last 8 months is still hard to like 10yo with a 9-57 record on turf compared to 0-9 (three seconds) on AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (100/1 -257%)Idyllic |
100/1(-257%) | (9) Idyllic 100/1, In good form on the AW last summer; returning from a break here and dropped a pound for a couple of ordinary runs towards the end of last season; may just need the run Ex-Charlie Fellowes; place claims if ready to go on first run since 9,000gns sale October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (10/3 +39%)Ninth Life |
10/3(+39%) | (4) Ninth Life 10/3, Ran about to form beaten 1 1/4l off 77 at Chelmsford last time; good jockey booked; slight worry ran poorly at track penultimate start, but that was after a year off so forgiven; go well Close third at Chelmsford (1m2f) on second run back returns him to serious calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (18/1 -100%)Free Speech |
18/1(-100%) | (3) Free Speech 18/1, Keen and came from well back when beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap at Chelmsford on reappearance; significant jockey booking; may do much better with that run under her belt Ran respectably on return early last month but probably needs a career best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (11/1 -214%)Mighty Quiet |
11/1(-214%) | (7) Mighty Quiet 11/1, Bit in hand landing a handicap by 3l off 64 at Bath last time out back in October on soft ground; not proven on AW, but action suggests may suit better than soft; progressive and major player Tongue tied for handicap debut last October, transformed to make all at Bath (1m2f, soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (66/1 -633%)Cougar |
66/1(-633%) | (6) Cougar 66/1, Below par comfortably held in a handicap at Ayr last time; generally out of form; not proven on AW; needs to improve It's been a struggle in recent years; 13lb lower even than on reappearance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Cockalorum has won over this trip six times off higher marks and although a poor sixth at Ripon last month, he warrants consideration. Free Speech won twice last season and may do better after her Chelmsford sixth, but a chance is taken on Harry Charlton's MIGHTY QUIET. She pulled off a 25/1 shock at Bath when winning easily on her last start as a three-year-old and a new mark of 71 may still underestimate her ability.

From an in-form yard, MIGHTY QUIET stands out in terms of potential following the revelatory win last October in her first handicap.

13/8(-18%) | (4) Gunship 13/8, Progressive and suited by longer 10f trip when beaten 3l off 82 at Sandown on handicap debut; trainer in form; probably more to come Twice placed since making a winning debut here in December; holds an Irish Derby entry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (5/1 +50%)War Hawk |
5/1(+50%) | (6) War Hawk 5/1, Well backed when scored by 2l off 71 at Lingfield penultimate start; fourth beaten 6 1/2l up to 77 last time switched to turf; AW may bring return to best and contender Won over this trip at Lingfield on penultimate start, but may find one or two too good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3/1 +40%)Cristo |
3/1(+40%) | (1) Cristo 3/1, Well backed and plenty to do when landing a handicap by 2l off 80 at Chelmsford last time; up 6lb here, which is plenty, but is progressing and remains a major player Made it 2-2 at Chelmsford with a fluent win there on Thursday; should run another big race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (4/1 +43%)Tilted Kilt |
4/1(+43%) | (2) Tilted Kilt 4/1, Had been very consistent until bit below par beaten 3l off 85 over 8f at Sandown last time; up in trip; bit to prove, but return to AW is probably a plus Record on the AW reads 122; bred to stay this longer trip and should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (40/1 -82%)One Eye Jack |
40/1(-82%) | (5) One Eye Jack 40/1, Promise in a maiden at Haydock on 2yo debut, but well beaten in French sales race and switched to AW after; cheekpieces first time; seasonal debut; bit to prove Cheekpieces given a go back from six months off; interesting to see what the market says. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (11/1 -214%)Sword Of Wessex |
11/1(-214%) | (3) Sword Of Wessex 11/1, Came clear with first two and ran to form on return despite being weak in the market when 4l third in a novice at Kempton; this first time on Tapeta; handicap debut, but chance if novice form stands up Steadily progressive in three starts; may improve again now switched to a handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

CRISTO has to carry a 6lb penalty for his recent Chelmsford victory, but he powered home that day and was comfortably on top at the line. Joe Leavy claims 3lb back from the saddle, and he could land a hat-trick. Gunship ran on late into third at Sandown and may hit the places again here, while One Eye Jack looks interesting in first-time cheekpieces for a stable in among the winners this week.

There may still be even better to come from course winner and Irish Derby entry GUNSHIP, who earns the vote.

11/2(+0%) | (9) Sam Hawkens 11/2, Probably needed race fourth beaten 4 1/2l in a handicap at Ripon on reappearance; trainer in form; first race on AW, but looks well handicapped on 3yo form Fair reappearance two weeks ago but he did start favourite; stays 1m4f but makes AW debut. |

10/3(+26%) | (5) Steel Tiger 10/3, Progressing and got the 14f when landing a handicap by a short-head off 82 at Chelmsford last time; back down in trip here, which won't harm and a major player Won C&D novice in December and by a short head in 1m6f handicap at Chelmsford last month. |

14/1(-17%) | (7) Humble Spark 14/1, Travelled well when scored by 1 1/2l off 80 over 11f at Southwell three starts back; similar level next start and badly hampered latest so excusable; mark looks on stiff side Good winter on AW over 1m2f-1m4f, including at this track; interesting back in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (22/1 -144%)Dancing In Paris |
22/1(-144%) | (4) Dancing In Paris 22/1, Creditable 18l third in Sky Bet Novices' Hurdle (Grade 2) over 2m at Cheltenham most recent run in October; had been in good form on the Flat prior to that; fair mark; may just need this Did well last term; acts on Tapeta; career-high mark probably demands further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (5/2 +62%)Kildare Legend |
5/2(+62%) | (1) Kildare Legend 5/2, Game 8l third in a handicap at Newmarket most recent run back in October roughly backing up a win at Doncaster by 1 1/4l off 85; off a break and mark does look a little stiff After only five races, he retains potential starting off this second campaign. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (14/1 +0%)Something |
14/1(+0%) | (10) Something 14/1, Well backed, but raced freely when beaten 2 1/2l off 77 over 2m here last time; ran to about the same level over 10f previous start; off a short-break, but fair mark Solid 1m2f/1m4f record at Newcastle; seriously involved if tuned up after 130 days off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (8/1 +11%)Sheradann |
8/1(+11%) | (2) Sheradann 8/1, Game beaten a length off 88 over 2m at Kempton last time out in December; first time on Tapeta and not proven at trips below 14f; significant jockey booking though Close up on the Kempton Polytrack late last year on last two outings but that was over 2m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (50/1 -317%)Miss Alpilles |
50/1(-317%) | (8) Miss Alpilles 50/1, Appeared not to stay fourth beaten 19l in a handicap over 1m6f at Nottingham final start of 2024, couple of good efforts prior to that; back down in trip, but may just need the run Won at Haydock last July; heavy ground excuses final outing; needs to resume progress. |

33/1(-136%) | (6) Arrange 33/1, Below par beaten 5l in a handicap over 1m5f at Hamilton last time, but very solid form prior to that; seems effective at 12f and mark is not too exacting; chance Needs to find a bit extra and she's unraced on AW since three runs in 2021. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (33/1 -32%)Ensured |
33/1(-32%) | (3) Ensured 33/1, Probably needed race down the field in a handicap at Thirsk on seasonal debut; generally out of form at the end of 2024; top jockey up, but things to prove Won two 1m4f turf handicaps last April/August; tailed off on reappearance four weeks ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Having completed a double in a valuable event at Chelmsford last month, STEEL TIGER is one to keep on the right side of. A 4lb higher mark looks workable and a hat-trick may be on the cards. The biggest threat may emerge from the reappearing Kildare Legend, who capped off last season's campaign with a respectable third in the Old Rowley Cup at Newmarket. A race-fit Federated may fare best of the remainder.

Humble Spark, Steel Tiger and Federated are shortlisted but lightly raced topweight KILDARE LEGEND has potential.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Shwaimah proved underwhelming on her return when eighth at Southwell 35 days ago and it may pay to concentrate on the two last-time-out winners. Orange Sky supplemented a promising second-placed debut at Newbury when justifying favouritism over C&D last year and George Boughey's filly isn't taken lightly on her seasonal bow. However, the form of LORNA B's triumph over 6f here in March has worked out well and, stepping up in trip, the daughter of Shaman edges the call.

Shwaimah performed moderately on her second start, so the initiative may lie with the penalised winners Orange Sky and LORNA B.

2nd (10) (16/1 -33%)Zip |

9/2(-13%) | (2) Skukuza 9/2, Ran about to form beaten 2l off 96 at Haydock on reappearance; this first race on AW; top jockey up and entitled to come on for recent run; chance Runner-up at Royal Ascot last June and could build on his recent comeback run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (8/1 +0%)Local Hero |
8/1(+0%) | (3) Local Hero 8/1, Below par beaten 3 1/2l off 92 at Newmarket on turf, but looks fairly handicapped on solid AW form and with top jockey up can go well Went close on last AW run, at Kempton, but there's a suspicion he's not as good on Tapeta. |

50/1(-52%) | (9) Hiromichi 50/1, Raced freely down the field in a handicap over 8f at Newmarket most recent run back from a lengthy absence; down in trip; could have been too fresh on seasonal debut and may do better 7yo who has impressive strike-rate but plenty to prove after heavy reappearance defeat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (22/1 -175%)Thunder Roar |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

25/1(-14%) | (11) Atlantic Gamble 25/1, Probably needed race beaten 7l in a handicap over 8f at Kempton on reapperance; in good form prior; down in trip and mark looks stiff enough Highly progressive last year with six wins; well beaten on comeback but may have needed it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (16/1 +20%)Woodstock |
16/1(+20%) | (12) Woodstock 16/1, Probably ran to current level when beaten 3l off 84 at Redcar last time; mark is stiff enough and others preferred Returned to form when third at Redcar and he's 3-7 on Tapeta; each-way chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (8) (25/1 -79%)Media Shooter |
25/1(-79%) | (8) Media Shooter 25/1, Suited by step-up to 7f when landing a handicap by 3l off 80 at Musselburgh final start of 2024 in first-time cheekpieces; this seasonal debut and may just need the race 1-1 over 7f and in the cheekpieces; could have a big say if fully tuned up on reappearance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

THUNDER ROAR looked set to record a fifth career victory but for being demoted and placed second in the Spring Mile at Doncaster in March. That marked a return to form for the six-year-old and a 4lb rise may not be enough to prevent him from securing some compensation. Benacre made all over C&D last time and a similar approach should see Charlie Johnston's charge involved once more. United Approach, Skukuza and Local Hero add further spice to the mix.

8/1(-78%) | (9) Andalprofit 8/1, Bolted clear when landing a handicap by 5l off 59 over 6f here last time; usually held up, not proven trip and up 12lb, but still very dangerous 12lb higher than when bolting up by 5l over 6f here last month; may have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (40/1 -186%)Loving Apprentice |
40/1(-186%) | (7) Loving Apprentice 40/1, Well backed when winning a maiden at Pontefract over 6f by 4l final start of 2024; steadily progressive; first time on Tapeta; up in trip; unexposed on handicap debut Pontefract winner in October; watch market on handicap debut after seven months off. |

7th (3) (8/1 +20%)Four Fifty |
8/1(+20%) | (3) Four Fifty 8/1, Weak in the market 8 1/4l third in a novice over 8f at Thirsk most recent run after novice win here over 7f; back down to that trip and may bring return to form C&D winner last month; the least exposed in the field and respected on handicap debut. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (13) (66/1 -32%)Gesundheit |
66/1(-32%) | (13) Gesundheit 66/1, Made too much use of down the field in a handicap over 6f at Haydock on seasonal debut and better judged on 1 1/2l win off 60 previous start at Kempton; needs to find that form Poor on turf and 1-1 on the AW, but still hard to make a case for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (6/1 +0%)Party Bear |
6/1(+0%) | (5) Party Bear 6/1, Bit in hand scored by 2l off 68 at Southwell penultimate start; fifth beaten same margin off new mark of 74 last time and up to 75 here; remains a threat though Dual Tapeta winner in the spring; this track should suit and she makes the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (125/1 -468%)No Nay Nevermind |
125/1(-468%) | (12) No Nay Nevermind 125/1, Three fair efforts in conditions races latest beaten 6l in a maiden over 6f at Southwell; up in trip; quite a bit to prove on handicap debut This looks a tough task on handicap debut after seven months off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

OOLONG POOBONG was last seen finishing a narrow second in a warm Doncaster nursery in September and a 4lb rise for that effort looks fair. She'll have no problem returning to the all-weather, being a course winner already, and with the likelihood of more to come this season, she could be underestimated by her current rating. Andalprofit bolted up over 6f here last month and although 12lb higher now, he merits respect. Others to note include Knights Gold and Cairdeas.

The vote goes to FOUR FIFTY who has winning form over C&D and probably ran into a couple of nice types at Thirsk last time.

10th (14) (16/1 -100%)Badri |
16/1(-100%) | (14) Badri 16/1, Did not get a clear run beaten 1 1/2l off 90 at Southwell last time, but not fair below best form; mark has dropped a few pounds of late, may be competitive now Acts well here; in good form since Southwell win in January; this may be too competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (20/1 +0%)Korker |
20/1(+0%) | (3) Korker 20/1, Probably needed race beaten 8l in a handicap at Southwell on seasonal debut; tends to run race, but often gets behind; this course does suit late closers and one to consider if risky Useful on turf but just two AW runs and down the field behind Ferrous at Southwell latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (40/1 -233%)Bosh |
40/1(-233%) | (12) Bosh 40/1, Form tailed off at the end of 2024 and has not picked up in two starts this term since a break; hard to fancy Some good results on turf/AW for previous yard; well held in this last year; finding form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (13) (25/1 -213%)Westmorian |
25/1(-213%) | (13) Westmorian 25/1, Scored by a length off 84 at Lingfield penultimate start; and didn't get a clear run when ninth beaten about 6l up to a 90 last time; is on an upward trajectory, but mark looks stiff now Three 6f wins in March and April but went up 20lb and well held latest; left on same mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

A high draw ought to be of benefit to WILLEM TWEE, who was far from disgraced in first-time cheekpieces (retained) over C&D last month. James Fanshawe's gelding is now 3lb lower than when winning at Wolverhampton in August and with the likelihood of a decent pace to aim at, he can go close. Ferrous must enter calculations as he goes in search of a hat-trick following victories at Lingfield and Southwell, as must Strike Red. Sergeant Wilko should not be overlooked despite a low-key return at Leicester last month.

The new track is a question for FERROUS but the stiff test should suit and he gets the vote ahead of Germanic.
Ths is the racecard key.
