6/4(+75%) | (2) Shamardal Star 6/4, Not proven on soft, beaten 7l in a handicap over 8f at Carlisle last time. From top course trainer, returns from a short break. Possibly best at 7/8f but form very inconsistent. 0-10 and hasn't built on early promise; off 74 days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

13/2(+74%) | (6) Jazz Talking 13/2, Ran to her usual modest level when comfortably held in a novice over 12f at Southwell last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (15/2 -88%)Straya |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (8/1 -23%)Crownthorpe |
8/1(-23%) | (3) Crownthorpe 8/1, Did not stay when beaten 4l in a handicap here last time; better suited by 1m; although has regressed, the current mark looks very workable. Has won six times on the AW including twice over 1m here; contender. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

10/1(+38%) | (7) Storm Asset 10/1, Well backed but a little below form when fourth, beaten 6l in a classified race over 9f at Wolverhampton latest. Effective from 8f to 11f but currently a touch out of form. Losing run up to 24 and makes his stable debut after seven months off; watch market. |

14/1(+30%) | (5) Top Bins 14/1, Poor again when down the field in a handicap over 6f at Carlisle most recently. Returns from a short break and has shown no worthwhile form since his 2yo days. 0-8 and hasn't gone on in handicaps; plenty to prove on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (20/1 -400%)Spring Festival |
20/1(-400%) | (4) Spring Festival 20/1, Ran to form when second, beaten a neck in a classified race over 8f at Ayr latest. Trainer in form and suited by a mile. Bit erratic but current mark a fair reflection of ability. 0-15 and may be better over shorter, but latest narrow Ayr defeat puts him in the mix. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Second at Carlisle last month, CROWNTHORPE followed that good effort with a respectable fifth in a tougher event than this over C&D and Alan Brown's veteran could launch a strong challenge. Spring Festival was narrowly beaten in a classified contest at Ayr recently and steps up in distance with a shout, while Straya won over this trip at the same track in July and remains unexposed on the all-weather.

This may be an opportunity for CROWNTHORPE to regain winning form as he knows how to get his head in front, including at this track.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (5/1 +23%)Rampant |
5/1(+23%) | (5) Rampant 5/1, No obvious excuse when comfortably held in a 9f handicap at Hamilton last time. Trainer is in form; off a short break; suited by 10f and generally consistent. Record over C&D reads 2434433 but is 0-21; another placing may be his best hope. |

18/1(-50%) | (4) Irv 18/1, Probably failed to stay when comfortably held over 2m at Catterick last time. Best at 10-12f and should be suited by the drop in trip. Well handicapped on best form, but patchy so far this year; not quite sure what to expect. |

(7) (66/1 -65%)Wath Court |
66/1(-65%) | (7) Wath Court 66/1, Ran poorly and was well beaten in an 8f handicap at Redcar last time. Stays 12f and acts on AW but overall form is largely very poor. Fourth over C&D in January, but now 0-23 and little to recommend him otherwise. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

DARING LEADER showed a willing attitude to hold off a determined challenge from the runner-up in a fight to the line at Hamilton. The second has subsequently won, so it could pay to stick with Chris Kellett's charge on the strength of that form. Ravenswell came out second best at Carlisle last week, but only by a neck, and he has a big chance racing off an unchanged mark. Rampant may prove best of the remainder.

It may be worth siding with WEEGEEBEAR who was held in a better race last time, but had previously made a promising stable debut.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (9/1 +44%)Our Hero Matty |
9/1(+44%) | (5) Our Hero Matty 9/1, Back to form down in trip when beaten 6 1/4l in a maiden over 5f at Pontefract last time; probably stays 6f; opening mark looks workable. Second in a novice in May; below best after being gelded last month; bit to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

It would be no surprise if Veiled Truth featured at this lower level, having been set a stiff task at York last week. He makes more appeal than Social Exclusion, but BRIMFULOFATTITUDE could prove the one to side with. Successful over 5f when landing a maiden race at Beverley, the daughter of Soldier's Call improves with every start and there looks more to come now handicapping.

A chance is taken on SOCIAL EXCLUSION returning to form now back on Tapeta. Veiled Truth would be a big threat if he settles.

100/1(+0%) | (3) Fumbleinthejungle 100/1, Ran poorly again, finishing down the field in a classified race at Wolverhampton on latest start. Shown no worthwhile form. 0-9; ordinary form this year; new headgear combination tried; others stronger. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

DOROTHY MAY showed a lot more when filling the runner-up spot in a class 6 handicap at Wolverhampton earlier in the month and takes a drop into classified company for the first time. Tim Easterby's filly might only need to reproduce that kind of form in order to get off the mark. Latin Five is bidding for a third C&D victory and should be in the thick of the action. Ninety Nine is another to note.

Although Dorothy May has a sound chance after showing improved form last time, AW specialist BACK TOMORROW is just preferred.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BLACK STORM made a pleasing start for the Katie Scott stable when hitting the crossbar at Ayr earlier in the month and goes off an unchanged rating. With a similar effort, he could be the one to beat. Flying Fletcher wasn't disgraced in fifth in a warmer contest at Yarmouth and is 1lb lower, so he has to be taken seriously for the Richard Fahey team. Novak isn't out of it either.

Dundalk winner BLACK STORM, who shaped well when second on his stable debut at Ayr, can beat dual course winner Flying Fletcher.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Shamacid ought to prove popular having struck the woodwork at Southwell, with his ability to handle this surface a positive. However, it might pay to side with NATURAL FORCE. James Tate's colt, who made a successful debut at Ascot in May 2023, returned from 814 days on the sidelines when third at Ripon earlier this month. That was an extremely promising effort given the absence and, if stepping forward, he could be tough to beat. Judicature heads the remainder.

Recent Southwell runner-up SHAMACID might be able to make the most of the weight he receives from Natural Force.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Lightly-raced Time Test filly CANDLE OF TIME offered plenty of encouragement when keeping on into third at Doncaster last month and, from a handy draw, she could now have her day in the sun. Dangers arrive in the form of Desert Raider, twice a runner-up here in recent months, and Park Street, who has been threatening to take advantage of a sliding handicap mark.

The 3yo CANDLE OF TIME (nap) ran well in defeat last time and she has the most upside of these after just six career starts.
Ths is the racecard key.
