1st (4) (7/2 +13%)Winter Flower |
7/2(+13%) | (4) Winter Flower 7/2, Outpaced but showed minor promise when beaten 7l in a maiden at Goodwood on debut. Should improve for the experience and is likely to stay further than 10f in time. Last of six on debut but she's a half-sister to an AW winner and may take a step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/11 -105%)Majaz |
10/11(-105%) | (2) Majaz 10/11, Ran to form when stepped up in trip and beaten 3 1/4l in a maiden at Chelmsford latest. Suited by a mile and stays 10f; needs to prove Newbury form but has shown enough elsewhere to win a maiden. Fourth here on debut before finishing second in her next three starts; sets the standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (2/1 +50%)Nasebah |
2/1(+50%) | (3) Nasebah 2/1, 6,000gns breeze-up purchase by Kingman; dam was useful at 14f. Trainer is in form and among the leading handlers. 6,000gns 2yo; dam 1m4f AW winner (RPR 85); watch the betting on her debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (100/1 -100%)Lady Buttercup |
100/1(-100%) | (1) Lady Buttercup 100/1, Outpaced and modest on her flat debut when beaten 10l in a maiden at Ripon last time; generally out of form. A hurdler who may require further than 10f on the flat. Bumper winner who made some modest late gains on Flat debut at Ripon; likely wants further. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Runner-up on each of his last three starts, including on the all-weather at Chelmsford last time out, MAJAZ deserves a change in luck and this appeals as an ideal opportunity to get off the mark. Winter Flower didn't show much first time out at Goodwood, but she is entitled to improve, while Nasebah must be respected on debut for the Gosdens.

Winter Flower may take a step forward from her debut but this looks a good opportunity for MAJAZ to get off the mark.

Carries a penalty for her comfortable Southwell win over 1m; stiff 1m2f is a question mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (11/1 +0%)Rampant |
11/1(+0%) | (7) Rampant 11/1, Produced a modest effort when beaten 4l in a handicap here last time; trainer in form; suited by 10f; consistent overall but still a maiden. 0-22 and he was behind Wait And Hope and Daring Leader over C&D last time. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (25/1 -25%)Pacific Man |
25/1(-25%) | (8) Pacific Man 25/1, Keen and made too much use of, well beaten in a classified race at Ffos Las latest; usually consistent; effective 9-10f on AW; official mark looks stiff. Fourth in his first two starts after being gelded but disappointing at Ffos Las last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

COLOANE may have a neck to make up with the reopposing Tiberio Force from their clash at Ripon last month, but she has since scored easily at Southwell over 1m and a 5lb penalty may not be enough to prevent her from going in again. Narrowly denied over C&D last time out, Daring Leader must be another leading contender with Jason Hart a positive booking.

Coloane has obvious claims under a penalty but DARING LEADER may be able to make two wins from his last three starts.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

An eye-catcher on his handicap debut at Chelmsford last time out when not getting a clear run and staying on well in third, BELAYA RIVER is likely to relish going up to this trip and he is taken to break the maiden. Awarded first spot after interference at Ffos Las last month, Jedhi Knight should have more improvement forthcoming off 2lb higher, while Captain Robert and Star Of Markinch are others to note.

Star Of Markinch is second choice behind BELAYA RIVER who posted an improved effort on handicap debut. This trip is worth exploring.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (2/1 +11%)Lightning Touch |
2/1(+11%) | (3) Lightning Touch 2/1, Ran to form when beaten a head off 72 at Wolverhampton last time. Effective over 10-12f and suited by this surface. Progressing, with latest form franked. Beaten favourite in all 3 handicaps but she's shown winning potential; not fully exposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

10/3(+5%) | (1) Pique' 10/3, Ran to form when beaten 2l off a mark of 83 over 1m6f at Yarmouth last time. Trainer in form. Effective over 12-14f and consistent, but holds no secrets from the handicapper. Consistent at 3yrs, winning twice; last two starts (1m6f) have been solid; should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/2 -29%)Not Now Nathaniel |
9/2(-29%) | (4) Not Now Nathaniel 9/2, Quickened clear with ease when landing a Newmarket handicap by 1 1/2l off 68 on latest start. Ridden by a top course jockey. Effective over 12f on this surface and could bounce back fresh. Goes well fresh and neither trip nor surface are an issue; should be in the thick of it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (25/1 -150%)Idyllic |
25/1(-150%) | (6) Idyllic 25/1, Scored by a neck off 63 at Thirsk on her penultimate start. Ran to form when fourth, beaten 4l off 66 last time. Effective over 10-12f on this surface, though the handicapper may now be in charge. Two wins from six starts this year; needs more now upped to Class 4. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Not Now Nathaniel gained a first success on the level at Newmarket, but a 5lb rise does ask more of Donald McCain's mare. With that in mind, LIGHTNING TOUCH may have the perfect opportunity to get off the mark. The daughter of Frankel went close when denied by a head at Wolverhampton and remains unexposed over 1m4f. Idyllic and Pique' appeal most of the remainder.

There could be more to come from NOT NOW NATHANIEL (nap) and she's preferred to Billiegee, Pique' and Lightning Touch.

Form nosedived at Goodwood last month but on the right path beforehand; can bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (15/2 -25%)Miss Hathaway |
15/2(-25%) | (9) Miss Hathaway 15/2, Scored by a length off 69 at Nottingham three starts ago; ran to form when third beaten 1/2l off 74 last time; suited by 6f; in form. Plenty of racing but still looks to be on an upward curve; good claims if stall 1 is okay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (66/1 -100%)Toomuchforme |
66/1(-100%) | (4) Toomuchforme 66/1, Outpaced and poorly placed at a sharp track when down the field in a handicap at Chester last time; returning from a break; effective at 6f; untested on AW; yet to match 2yo form. Fair 2yo for Karl Burke but well held both starts this year; sold 11,000gns in July; risky. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Al Joory took a step back in the right direction when placing at Kempton and has to be respected off an unchanged mark. Vibrant Pearl got her head in front at Carlisle last time and appears to be an obvious contender, but NOVAMAY has every chance of bouncing back to form. Michael Dods' filly had been hugely progressive until struggling when upped in class at York and she makes plenty of appeal back in calmer waters.

The return to fillies' only company can see MISS HATHAWAY record her third win of the year. Unexposed Vibrant Pearl is feared most.

Suited by 6/7f and AW; progressing. Three turf wins since last seen on AW; career best when 2nd at Carlisle latest; now hooded. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GET UP EVERYBODY has gradually improved in his most recent outings and the son of Invincible Army has every chance of going one better following his runner-up effort at Thirsk. Promise Time brings a consistent level of form to the table and commands plenty of respect, while Sole Spirit is worth forgiving his disappointing attempt to land the hat-trick at Carlisle.

Sole Spirit and Promise Time are respected but FAN MAIL's AW form suggests he could be revived by today's return to Tapeta.

85/40(+29%) | (1) Monsieur Bondy 85/40, Quickened clear cosily and improved for debut experience when winning a maiden at Redcar by 1/2l last time. Stays 7f and bred for speed. Strong sort, with the sire's progeny tending to be game and progressing. Confirmed promise of debut 3rd when winning at Redcar latest; more needed to defy penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 -64%)Correspondence |
9/2(-64%) | (3) Correspondence 9/2, Still green but ran to debut form when 4l third in a maiden over 6f at Brighton most recently. Top course jockey booked. Off a short break and has a bit more to come. Similar form in two 6f runs in June; bred to stay this trip well; still capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (50/1 -52%)Bloodsweatandtyres |
50/1(-52%) | (2) Bloodsweatandtyres 50/1, Acclamation gelding; the stable's horses often need more time. Best watched. Dam an unraced sister to 5f Group 1 winner Move In Time; likely a longer-term prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (8/11 +13%)Spitzbergen |
8/11(+13%) | (5) Spitzbergen 8/11, Improved up in trip following a wind operation when second, beaten 1 1/2l in a novice at Kempton latest. Steadily progressive and this is his second run after wind surgery. Effective at 6-7f on AW and should come on for that outing. Useful form in 2 of his 3 runs, including last time after wind/gelding ops; sets standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (40/1 -150%)Roaring Twenties |
40/1(-150%) | (4) Roaring Twenties 40/1, Possibly did not act on the ground when well beaten in a novice at Doncaster last time. Returning from a break and could figure. 2 runs in April, not building on debut form 16 days later; sold 2,000gns in July; wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (150/1 -50%)Wee Nan |
150/1(-50%) | (6) Wee Nan 150/1, Improved for debut experience when fourth, beaten 6l in a novice over 6f here last time. Effective at 6f on AW and probably one for handicaps. Second run was better than her first but she still has a mountain to climb in this company. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Monsieur Bondy built on a promising debut effort when getting off the mark at Redcar, but he may face a tougher ask in trying to give 7lb to SPITZBERGEN. The Crisfords' gelding returned from a wind operation to finish second at Kempton and the overall strength of that display may be enough for him to go one better. Correspondence remains open to improvement on just his third career outing.

A penalty could scupper Monsieur Bondy and SPITZBERGEN is taken to get off the mark at the fourth attempt.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (14/1 +44%)Fletchers Dream |
14/1(+44%) | (6) Fletchers Dream 14/1, Never looked willing when down the field in a Musselburgh handicap last time. Generally out of form; effective at 6/7f; arrives in poor form. Dual winner here but he's struggled since winning off this mark at Musselburgh in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (9/1 -13%)Tomorrow Day |

Usually consistent; effective at 6/7f and all recent form on AW; can bounce back after a rest. All five wins have been here; ran poorly in April when last seen; wind surgery since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (9/2 -13%)Tasever |
9/2(-13%) | (1) Tasever 9/2, Back to form when beaten 3l off 67 in lower grade here last time; effective at 7/8f. Had lost form before a break and needs to build on that reappearance. All four wins have been here (7f/1m); solid effort when fourth here last time; claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (11/2 +21%)Livio Milo |
11/2(+21%) | (4) Livio Milo 11/2, Continued poor form for new yard, beaten 4l off 65 at Doncaster last time. Trainer is in form; wide draw; off a short break. Effective 7-9f but out of form since move from Ireland. 1-22; shaped more encouragingly at Doncaster 88 days ago; had wind surgery two days later. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BUTTERCROSS FLYER was forced to race wide throughout when she was a creditable third at Lingfield on Monday and the quick reappearance back on Tapeta suggests connections hold strong hopes of the four-year-old extending her good run of recent form. Cooperation also appeals after a near miss over a mile here 13 days ago, with a 2lb higher rating looking fair. All four of Tasever's previous career wins came at this venue and he is another must for consideration.

Cooperation holds good claims but BANTZ returned to some form last time and he's taken to double his C&D tally.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (11/2 -38%)King Sharja |
11/2(-38%) | (7) King Sharja 11/2, Rallied gamely and returned to form when landing a handicap by a short-head off 56 at Beverley last time. Effective at 7f on a sound surface and should remain competitive. Back up 2lb for his Beverley win over 7.5f last time; returns to AW with claims. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (150/1 +25%)Aurora's Doublesix |
150/1(+25%) | (10) Aurora's Doublesix 150/1, Raced keenly and found little, probably not staying when comfortably held in a handicap over 8f at Hamilton last time. Hood on for the first time and has a wide draw. Exposed as poor. Achieved little in eight starts from 5f-8.5f; hood applied for her AW debut; passed over. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Even though reliability probably isn't King Sharja's greatest asset, he has won back-to-back races before and and cannot be ruled out from supplementing his Beverley success gained at the end of July. However, the still competitively-weighted ENPASSANT has a slightly stronger overall profile and he gets the vote after a win and second-placed finish from his last two starts. Carolus Magnus and Patontheback can also be on the premises at this level.

The drop back to 6f didn't seem to suit MISTER INVINCIBLE last time and he's preferred ahead of Enpassant.
Ths is the racecard key.
