11/8(+45%) | (4) Scandinavia 11/8, Ideally suited by trip beaten 2l in Queen's Vase (Group 2) over 1m6f at Ascot last time where did plenty early; cheekpieces first time; threat but bit to find with Furthur on Royal Ascot meeting Good fifth in the Queen's Vase despite wide trip and hitting a flat spot; commands respect. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (20/1 -300%)Hallelujah U |
20/1(-300%) | (2) Hallelujah U 20/1, Ideally suited by trip beaten 2 1/4l in Queen's Vase (Group 2) over 1m6f at Ascot last time; bit to find with Furthur and Scandinavia on that; previous handicap form franked; more needed Wore cheekpieces the last twice, winning at Thirsk then good sixth in the Queen's Vase. |

8/1(+0%) | (5) Titanium Emperor 8/1, Improved effort beaten 4l in Queen's Vase (Group 2) over 1m6f at Ascot last time; steadily progressive; yet to add to debut victory; vulnerable in this grade Needs some improvement, having finished behind three of today's rivals at Royal Ascot. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (7/2 -75%)Furthur |
7/2(-75%) | (1) Furthur 7/2, Ideally suited by trip second beaten 3/4l in Queen's Vase (Group 2) over 1m6f at Ascot latest; finished ahead of a number of these that day; trainer in form; sets form standard; ought to go close Good second, with a few of today's opponents behind him, in the Queen's Vase; progressive. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

It is difficult to look past FURTHUR, who showed marked improvement from his effort in the Chester Vase to finish an excellent second in the Queen's Vase. Dropping back a furlong in trip should not inconvenience the son of Waldgeist and he can uphold form with Scandinavia (fifth), who didn't have the best of runs at Royal Ascot before rallying late in the piece. Both he and Hallelujah U, who was less than a length behind in sixth, have the potential to become St Leger types, while Nightime Dancer will find this considerably easier than the Derby, in which he finished eighth.

With headgear fitted, SCANDINAVIA could well show further progress and reverse Royal Ascot placings with Furthur.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (12/1 -33%)Comical Point |
12/1(-33%) | (2) Comical Point 12/1, Had benefited for debut experience beaten 4l in Norfolk Stakes (Group 2) over 5f at Ascot last time; that strong form; handles fast ground; danger if stamina holds up The way he shaped in the Norfolk last time suggests this extra furlong will suit. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Saved for this since landing the Woodcote in taking fashion from subsequent Windsor Castle winner Havana Hurricane, MAXIMIZED looks well up to the rise in grade and he can land a first July Stakes for the in-form Charlie Appleby. The all-conquering Ballydoyle team have been dominant in two-year-old races on both sides of the Irish Sea this season and Brussels deserves the utmost respect, despite his inexperience, having scored comfortably on debut at the Curragh. Do Or Do Not's second in the Coventry is arguably the strongest form on offer, but Ed Walker's colt remains a maiden and may need a tad more to trouble the principals.

Ballydoyle colt BRUSSELS looks likely to take a big step forward from his Curragh success. Do Or Do Not is second pick.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

A tentative vote goes to TAWASOL, who arrives here on a hat-trick after scoring impressively on his handicap debut at Doncaster in May. An 11lb rise looks manageable and the son of Havana Grey is narrowly preferred to the progressive Double Rush, who seemed to be caught on the wrong side of the track at York, when just under three lengths behind the winner Hucklesbrook, with whom he is 8lb better off. A taking winner on the Rowley Mile last time out, Invictus Gold is expected to be thereabouts, as are Windsor scorer Arabian Sun and the consistent Prince Of India.

An absorbing race in which flashy grey TAWASOL (nap) can complete a hat-trick. Double Rush is next best but several can be fancied.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

GHOSTWRITER looks the one to beat now returning to the scene of his emphatic maiden success in August 2023. Clive Cox's colt has been a regular in top-level events since and has yet to run a bad race. There was much to like about his first attempt over 1m4f in the Hardwicke and he is fancied to confirm that form with Palladium, who produced a career-best performance at Royal Ascot and it's a positive that Ryan Moore keeps the partnership intact. Wimbledon Hawkeye is an interesting player receiving the weight-for-age allowance.

A chance is taken that a gelding operation helps ARABIAN CROWN rediscover the promise shown last spring. Ghostwriter is the danger.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

George Boughey and Ryan Moore teamed up with an impressive two-year-old winner at Yarmouth last week and NIGHT SHINING could strike for the same partnership here. Her full-sister Dark Liberty won a 7f Listed event in Germany as a juvenile and this 475,000gns purchase is expected to be well above average. Enamorus and Princess Billyboy are also of interest first time out, but the biggest challenge could come from Country Artiste, who left her debut performance well behind when a length second over this trip at Newbury.

Crimson Rose can build on her debut run but COUNTRY ARTISTE is preferred after her good second at Newbury.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

OPERA BALLO was a shade disappointing in the Craven, but he bounced back to form in no uncertain terms when landing the Heron Stakes at Sandown. The progressive Ghaiyyath colt could have plenty more in the locker and is taken to provide Charlie Appleby with a first win in the contest since Al Suhail in 2020. King Of Cities wasn't beaten far into ninth in the Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly and must be respected in these calmer waters, while Arabian Story takes a step up in class having landed the Britannia last month.

Very promising ELARAK is first choice ahead of Seagulls Eleven. Opera Ballo and King Of Cities warrant respect.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Great Acclaim went agonisingly close over 7f here a fortnight ago and he merits the utmost respect back at a mile, as does Where's Freddy, who came from well off the pace to score over C&D. That said, a chance can be taken on PAROLE D'ORO. A shade unfortunate not to have finished closer than eighth in the Britannia last time out, Michael Bell's colt competes from an unchanged mark and ought to go close. Boyfriend was beaten a head by subsequent Royal Hunt Cup winner My Cloud at Newbury before going on to score at Nottingham and is another to consider.

Parole d'Oro is feared but preference is for the unexposed 4yo BOYFRIEND, who has shown strong form since returning from an absence.
Ths is the racecard key.
