|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (12/1 +14%)Getaway Frankie |
12/1(+14%) | (1) Getaway Frankie 12/1, Pulled up in a novice hurdle over 2m3f at Carlisle latest where green and lost action; inconsistent in bumpers prior; each way claims Not much went to plan on recent hurdling debut but there was promise in bumpers last year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

GREEN SKY's latest effort at Ayr was a truer reflection of her ability, filling the runner-up spot after reverting to front-running tactics, and this may be the opportunity the five-year-old has been waiting for to get off the mark in this sphere. Lets Mingle was a length behind the selection in third on that occasion and is likely to pose a strong threat, while Getaway Frankie is worth another chance following her hurdles debut when pulled up early at Carlisle.

Green Sky was just ahead of LETS MINGLE over 2m last month but the latter can reserve those placings over today's longer trip.

8/11(+61%) | (2) Schmilsson 8/11, Ran to form beaten 3l off 112 at Haydock last time; that strong form; trainer in form; stiff 2m ideal; leading claims on chase debut Third in valuable series final over hurdles last month; makes chasing debut today. |

4/1(-191%) | (1) Garde Des Champs 4/1, Probably needed race beaten a short-head off 113 over 2m4f at Kelso last time; beaten when falling previously; down in trip; generally consistent; should run well Went close at Kelso last month, after a break, and this C&D also suits well; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (16/5 +9%)Disco Annie |
16/5(+9%) | (3) Disco Annie 16/5, Failed to stay down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Cheltenham most recent; unexposed in this sphere; every chance down in trip Ran well on chasing debut in December and will find this easier than recent hurdling task. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (50/1 -52%)Darkest Day |
50/1(-52%) | (5) Darkest Day 50/1, Second beaten 17l in a novice over 2m4f at Overton latest; frustrating type; enjoys making it; plenty more needed returned to rules This year's pointing form is not inspiring and he's 10lb wrong for this rules return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SCHMILSSON displayed signs of a return to form when third at Haydock last month and the six-year-old has every chance of stepping forward on his first attempt over fences, especially considering how well his stable has started the new NH season. The return to the larger obstacles may suit Disco Annie if she replicates her second at Carlisle back in December. Garde Des Champs heads the remainder.

Ready preference is for GARDE DES CHAMPS, who looked as good as ever when going close at Kelso last month.

4th (2) (9/2 +0%)Artic Mann |
9/2(+0%) | (2) Artic Mann 9/2, Won this last year off 4lb lower; below par beaten 2l off 104 over 2m4f here last time finding trip too sharp; up in trip; can give a good account 11yo; on fairly tough mark but won this in 2024 and ought to make his presence felt. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

HAPPY INDEX still appears to have mileage in her handicap mark judged on her latest effort here when third after returning from a break. The handicapper left Olly Murphy's mare alone for that display and the step up in trip is unlikely to be an issue. Maggies Boy finished runner-up in the first division of the aforementioned contest and is expected to play a leading role once again. The veteran Artic Mann appears best of the remainder.

Maggies Boy and HAPPY INDEX were placed in two different divisions of a 3m handicap here three weeks ago and can fight this out.

10/3(+39%) | (6) Watchoutitscookie 10/3, Below par down the field in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow most recent; generally out of form over fences prior since winter win off 1lb lower; bit to find Chase winner in December but seems to have lost his way this year. |

15/2(-67%) | (3) Master Bricklayer 15/2, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Ayr latest where failed to stay 3m; not proven trip; off a short-break; fair mark on best hurdle form; could figure if stamina holds up on chase debut but risky Inconsistent maiden hurdler; not proven over 3m or on good ground; chase debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (10/3 +44%)Wotsmyname |
10/3(+44%) | (5) Wotsmyname 10/3, Back to form fourth beaten 8l in a handicap chase over 2m7f at Kelso latest; sound surface suits; outside chance Not very reliable but ran well from out of the weights at Kelso last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The majority of these have something to prove at present, so it could prove a suitable opportunity for the down-in-class WOTSMYNAME to finally open his account. The eight-year-old is 9lb lower than for his latest fourth at Kelso and he ticks plenty of the right boxes. Olly Murphy has his string in fine fettle at present so Colonel Whizz must enter calculations on his chase bow. He is feared most, ahead of Watchoutitscookie.

Chase debutante BAYONETTA is only 1lb higher than when going close in a big-field hurdle here last summer and has pointing experience.

11/10(-51%) | (4) Somptueux 11/10, Won a conditions race at Garthorpe over 2m4f by 4l last time; prolific in points; sound surface suits; returning from a break; the one to beat on form 2-3 in points on a sound surface this spring; might be the answer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/1 -67%)Deerstalker |
5/1(-67%) | (1) Deerstalker 5/1, Second beaten 10l in a conditions race at Witton Castle latest; point winner in spring; sound surface suits; outside chance Back under rules after clear second in recent open point; has a fighting chance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SOMPTUEUX boasted some useful form when racing under Rules in Ireland and his recent exploits between the flags suggest that he's recaptured a lot of his sparkle. Tommy Morgan's inmate arrives here as the highest-rated contender and is taken to repel chief threats Deerstalker and Glen Cannel. Both have yet to convince with their stamina for 3m, with the former slightly more compelling judged on his latest second in a point-to-point.

He's patently not the force of old but SOMPTUEUX looked in pretty good nick when bagging two small-field points this spring.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (7/1 -75%)Rickety Gate |
7/1(-75%) | (4) Rickety Gate 7/1, Ideally suited by trip when landing a handicap by 2l off 89 over 2m3f at Carlisle last time benefitting from drop in weights; remains well treated on old form; contender Back on the scoresheet at Carlisle and could give another good account back up 4lb; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

125/1(-150%) | (10) King Gold Boy 125/1, Pulled up in a novice hurdle over 2m2f at Kelso latest where very green; cheekpieces first time; up in trip; hard to make a case for Goes handicapping in first-time cheekpieces off basement mark, but has shown very little. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

DONSO STAR's sole success came from 4lb lower at Ayr in March, but Mike Smith's mare has remained in good form since then and may well provide some value now afforded an ease in class. Bleu Lagune shaped with promise on her handicap bow last month and is respected from 1lb higher, while Larkfield Lusive and Carlisle scorer Rickety Gate are just two others to consider.

Preference is for DONSO STAR (nap), who showed some good form last spring and is taken to build on last month's reappearance 4th here.

22/1(-267%) | (4) Intertwine 22/1, Appeared not to stay comfortably held in a novice hurdle over 2m3f at Catterick last time; not proven trip; returning from a break; bit to find May improve now handicapping at an ordinary level; third run for new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The vote goes to FOLLOW CHARLIE, who was a creditable second over 3m here last month. Dropping in trip shouldn't be an issue and with a few of these having something to prove, he can go one place better. Theirshegoes fell early on in a series final at Musselburgh in March and if none the worse for that tumble, she's a real player at this level. Two miles looked on the sharp side for Shadowfax Of Rohan last time, but he could improve now stepped up in distance.

Back up in trip, SHADOWFAX OF ROHAN could well build on his latest effort and get off the mark. Golden Moonshake is second pick.
Ths is the racecard key.
