1st (4) (25/1 -213%)The Wise Traveller |
25/1(-213%) | (4) The Wise Traveller 25/1, Below form when taken on up front and made too much use of before being comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon last time; enjoys forcing the pace; contender. Won at favourite track Huntingdon in April but is too inconsistent to rely upon nowadays. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (13/2 -8%)Land Girl's Luck |
13/2(-8%) | (2) Land Girl's Luck 13/2, Hampered early but well treated up 2lb when scoring by 6l off 97 over 2m4f at Bangor-on-Dee in June. Keen and outpaced when below form seventh, beaten 41l off 103 last time; effective at 2 1/2m on good ground, though the handicapper may have caught up. Three hurdle wins this year (2m1f-2m4f); could plausibly have untapped potential over 3m+. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (7/2 +50%)Cinderello |
7/2(+50%) | (7) Cinderello 7/2, Travelled well and improved down in grade on handicap debut, relishing the longer trip to score by 1/2l off 73 over 2m7f at Uttoxeter on her penultimate start; ran to form when fourth, beaten 11l off 78 last time. Caused 40-1 surprise when upped to 2m7f for handicap debut; next run perfectly respectable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (9/1 +10%)Stamina Chope |
9/1(+10%) | (9) Stamina Chope 9/1, Outpaced but rallied and never threatened when third, beaten 16l in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Worcester last time; gradually running back into form since returning from a layoff. C&D winner in 2023 but seemingly on the downgrade now; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (4/1 -45%)The Dark Edge |
4/1(-45%) | (1) The Dark Edge 4/1, Fell in a handicap chase over 3m at Bangor-on-Dee last time; progressive over hurdles prior; returns from a break. Fell on chase debut in May but ended last season in good form over hurdles; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (9/2 -13%)Fine By Me |
9/2(-13%) | (3) Fine By Me 9/2, Had too much to do and was unsuited by the way the race developed but still ran to form when fourth, beaten 9l in a handicap hurdle over 3m2f at Newton Abbot last time; cheekpieces on first time; consistent. Largely in good form since returning from a layoff this season; tried in cheekpieces here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (5/1 +17%)Luna Run |
5/1(+17%) | (8) Luna Run 5/1, Ran to form and did best of those racing prominently when third, beaten 7 1/2l in a handicap hurdle over 2m7f at Uttoxeter last time; off a short break; a threat. Just 1-14 over hurdles but gave good account when third of 16 behind Cinderello last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (8/1 +33%)Isabel De Clare |
8/1(+33%) | (5) Isabel De Clare 8/1, Outpaced and may have found the ground too quick when needing the run, finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m at Stratford most recently; prefers some cut and a trip beyond 2m. Tailed off over 2m on stable debut; now 0-7 over hurdles; hiked up in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (50/1 +0%)Glorious Mist |
50/1(+0%) | (11) Glorious Mist 50/1, Needed the run when well beaten in a handicap hurdle over 3m2f at Fontwell last time; back from a break and has a bit to find. Has poor record since 80-1 second at Fontwell in June 2024. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (14/1 0%)Flemen's Tipple |
14/1(0%) | (6) Flemen's Tipple 14/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 3m2f at Stratford last time; visor on first time; off a short break; considered a value selection on the balance of form. Well beaten on last two starts but this C&D suits him well; on career-low mark; a danger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (40/1 -21%)Tiny Tantrum |
40/1(-21%) | (10) Tiny Tantrum 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase over 3m2f at Uttoxeter last time; off a short break; regressive. Ended last season with heavy defeat over hurdles and pulled up in two chases this term. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The Dark Edge has the stamina needed for this trip having won over further at Warwick in March and he can go well. Stamina Chope scored over C&D in 2023 off 9lb higher and deserves serious consideration, but THE WISE TRAVELLER gets the nod. With three distance wins plus one over further to his name, the nine-year-old merits plenty of respect on his return to action.

Course winner THE DARK EDGE (nap) has good claims if judged on his two hurdle runs at the end of last season.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/1 +75%)Ez Tiger |
7/1(+75%) | (3) Ez Tiger 7/1, Below form and well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Stratford most recently; handicapper may have caught up. In prime form when making all at Worcester in June; may be shade vulnerable off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7/2 -17%)Lady Caro |
7/2(-17%) | (5) Lady Caro 7/2, Returned to form after a break when beaten 3l off 93 at Stratford last time; effective at 2m on good to soft or good; should come on for that run. Narrow C&D winner in March and made pleasing reappearance this month; high on the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (12/1 +52%)Stage Show |
12/1(+52%) | (10) Stage Show 12/1, Made too much use of and well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Worcester last time; off a short break; chance on best form but unreliable. 0-13 over hurdles; went close at Taunton in April but two lesser efforts followed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (9/2 +72%)Sain Et Sauf |
9/2(+72%) | (8) Sain Et Sauf 9/2, Up in trip and failed to get home, fourth beaten 35l in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Bangor-on-Dee last time; usually held up; off a short break; in the mix. 0-5 over hurdles for Barry Brennan but looks quite interesting on debut for a new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (10/1 -11%)G'day Aussie |
10/1(-11%) | (2) G'day Aussie 10/1, Up 4lb but well treated on old form, scored by 3 1/4l off 89 over 2m4f at Bangor-on-Dee in July; fourth beaten 5l off 97 last time; suited by sound surface and remains well treated on past efforts. Returned from break with two wins; may find younger rivals better handicapped here, though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (11/2 -22%)Everest |
11/2(-22%) | (6) Everest 11/2, Not clear run and too much to do, but ran to form when 4 1/4l third in a 2m2f handicap hurdle at Fontwell on latest start; cheekpieces first time; more to come judged on bumper form and likely to stay further than 2m. Kept on for third on last month's handicap debut at Fontwell; new headgear added here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (12/1 -9%)Character Testing |
12/1(-9%) | (4) Character Testing 12/1, Too keen when fourth beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap hurdle at Kempton latest; tongue-tie first time; effective at 2m on good ground; in fair form over winter. 0-8 over hurdles but went very close here in March; player if revved up after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (16/1 -100%)Zenato |
16/1(-100%) | (1) Zenato 16/1, Keen, below form when fourth beaten 18l in a handicap hurdle at Southwell last time; returning from a break off stiff enough mark. Gamely won maiden hurdle in April but well held when fourth on handicap return in June. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The recent Fontwell third Everest has a decent chance despite being put up 1lb by the handicapper. Character Testing looks more likely to handle the quicker ground than some and he can go well, but LADY CARO is preferred. Third at Stratford earlier in the month when sent off at 25/1 on her first start since April, she won over C&D in March off 3lb lower and may have more to offer.

Another chance is given to JET PATROL, who flopped when odds-on a fortnight ago but looked rejuvenated when winning on his stable debut.

1st (1) (2/9 -56%)Kajikia |
2/9(-56%) | (1) Kajikia 2/9, Ran to form when 8l third in a bumper over 2m2f here last time; effective at 2m and acts on good ground; should stay a little further over hurdles. Bumper form gives him cast-iron claims in today's company on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (13/2 +7%)Whenthemusicstops |
13/2(+7%) | (3) Whenthemusicstops 13/2, Showed improvement when 17l fourth in a maiden over 3m at Loughrea on debut; achieved only modest form in 3m points. Bought for £10,500 soon after finishing a remote fourth in his second Irish point in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (16/1 +60%)Oh My Guinness |
16/1(+60%) | (5) Oh My Guinness 16/1, Keen, outpaced and never involved when fourth, beaten 38l in a novice hurdle over 2m3f at Fontwell last time; returning from a break and looks one for handicaps. Has an awful lot to prove after finishing tailed off in a bumper and two hurdle races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/1 +10%)Yarborough |
9/1(+10%) | (4) Yarborough 9/1, Stopped quickly and was comfortably held in a seller over 11f at Goodwood last time; effective over 10-12f; regressive on the Flat and yet to show much over hurdles. Limited Flat maiden who has struggled badly in two previous runs over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (40/1 +60%)Oi Oi Oi |
40/1(+60%) | (2) Oi Oi Oi 40/1, Outpaced and continued poor form when well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Worcester last time; wears blinkers for the first time; off a short break; yet to show ability and may need further than 2m. Four runs have earned him a basement handicap mark; now blinkered. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

If KAJIKIA can transfer his best bumper form to hurdles, he could prove hard to beat. A winner at Ascot last November and third in a bumper here in April, the step up in trip looks just what he needs and he could prove to be a class above. Point-to-point fourth Whenthemusicstops is interesting ahead of his hurdling bow and he could pick up second, leaving Yarborough to follow them home.

This is such a weak maiden that KAJIKIA will surely only need to complete the course to collect.

1st (2) (16/5 +9%)Aucunrisque |
16/5(+9%) | (2) Aucunrisque 16/5, Outpaced and failed to handle the track when well beaten in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Cartmel last time; returns from a short break; value selection on the balance of form. Returning from a break when third in this 12 months ago off a 4lb higher mark; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (13/8 +59%)Nap Hand |
13/8(+59%) | (4) Nap Hand 13/8, Ran to form when pulling clear of the rest under a penalty, finishing second by a length in a 2m1f novice hurdle at Market Rasen last time; trainer in form and appears level over hurdles. Will need to run better than at Market Rasen when beaten at odds of 2-9 in a novice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/1 +8%)Brave Knight |
6/1(+8%) | (3) Brave Knight 6/1, Stopped quickly and was the first beaten, finishing down the field in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Market Rasen last time; back from a short break; outside chance. 3-5 over hurdles; quiet on h'cap debut but down 4lb and quick ground suits him well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/4 -120%)Howth |
11/4(-120%) | (1) Howth 11/4, Quickened clear with ease, outclassing rivals at a steadier pace than previously when winning a handicap by 17l off 120 over 2m1f at Newton Abbot penultimate start; useful at best on the Flat and progressive in this sphere. Now 4-5 over hurdles after defying penalties at Newton Abbot; a likeable type. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (12/1 +0%)Renoir |
12/1(+0%) | (5) Renoir 12/1, Ran to form but possibly outstayed late when a 4l third under a penalty in a 2m3f novice hurdle at Stratford last time; returns from a break; has a squeak. Only 4lb higher than for his handicap win but he is up in grade here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Howth was a wide-margin winner at Newton Abbot in July before returning to the same venue and defying a double penalty when returned to novice company. The six-year-old may well have more to offer, but a chance is taken with NAP HAND. The five-year-old tasted defeat when sent off a warm order at Market Rasen but he remains capable of improvement and is worth another chance. Renoir completes the shortlist.

A tight handicap. AUCUNRISQUE is not as good as he was but the handicapper has given him a chance and he ran well in this last year.

1st (9) (10/1 -100%)Ruler Of The River |
10/1(-100%) | (9) Ruler Of The River 10/1, Made too much use of when finishing down the field in a 2m handicap at Lingfield most recently. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and acts on any ground, but appears regressive. Could go well on first run for Fergal O'Brien with a tongue-tie/cheekpieces reapplied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (11/2 +50%)Square Du Roule |
11/2(+50%) | (8) Square Du Roule 11/2, Reportedly made a noise in running when well beaten in a 2m3f handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot last time. Had been in good form prior but enthusiasm is questionable. Excuse last time and his fortunes had picked up following a wind operation. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/1 -67%)On The Go |
5/1(-67%) | (3) On The Go 5/1, From a yard that won this last year. Keen but relished conditions when beaten 3l off 91 over 2m4f at Newcastle last time. Not fully exposed and of interest. Handicap debut fourth in March could be a springboard to something better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/1 +17%)Sir Carnegie |
10/1(+17%) | (4) Sir Carnegie 10/1, Jumped poorly and was outpaced on chase and stable debut when comfortably held in a 3m handicap chase at Hexham last time. Trainer is in form. 0-11 but debut for this yard was over fences; can come good sooner or later. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (7/1 -75%)Eliza Dolittle |
7/1(-75%) | (7) Eliza Dolittle 7/1, Well backed and effective at this course when landing a handicap by 1/2l off 77 here last time. The pick on the balance of form given excellent course record. Dual course winner but her inconsistency is a concern, as is her record when fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (3/1 +33%)No Guarantee |
3/1(+33%) | (6) No Guarantee 3/1, Ran to form when beaten 3l off 71 over 2m3f at Newton Abbot last time. A modest maiden who has at least improved of late. Not beaten far in three of his four handicaps for current yard and a solid contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (5/1 +50%)Mr Le Philosophe |
5/1(+50%) | (1) Mr Le Philosophe 5/1, Travelled well and improved when scoring by 3 1/4l off 95 over 2m6f at Stratford three starts back. Stopped quickly when beaten 11l off 102 last time. Doesn't stay 3m, has been busy, and may need a break. Has struggled the last twice after surging up the weights; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (9/1 +10%)Jubilee Gold |
9/1(+10%) | (2) Jubilee Gold 9/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 2l in a selling hurdle over 2m at Hexham last time. Ideally wants a bit further. Returning from a break and consistent. Running well off similar marks when last seen; has changed stables. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ON THE GO ran with promise on his final outing of last season when fourth on handicap debut at Newcastle and Charlie Longsdon's gelding has every chance of stepping forward, especially after a six-month break. No Guarantee has been knocking on the door recently and is likely to enter calculations, while others for the shortlist include Jubilee Gold and Eliza Dolittle.

Marginal preference is for SQUARE DU ROULE who had been threatening to win a race before an excusable failure last time.

1st (3) (4/6 +17%)Masked Mistress |
4/6(+17%) | (3) Masked Mistress 4/6, Travelled strongly and improved when suited by good ground, winning a Mares bumper at Uttoxeter over 2m by 2l last time. Off a short break; effective at 2m on good ground and still progressing. Beat 13 other females at Uttoxeter in July and has strong claims under penalty here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/1 -11%)Arms Park |
10/1(-11%) | (2) Arms Park 10/1, Walk In The Park gelding; half-brother to Russian Hawk, who was very useful over 19f. Half-brother to three useful hurdler; looks interesting on paper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (14/1 -40%)Our Super Six |
14/1(-40%) | (4) Our Super Six 14/1, Replicated modest debut form when fourth, beaten 14l, in a 2m1f bumper at Sedgefield last time. Yet to show much at 2m on good ground. Did not make the grade for Godolphin and was safely held in two bumpers last season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (12/1 +0%)Mushtahrir |
12/1(+0%) | (1) Mushtahrir 12/1, Green and hung on debut, finishing well beaten in a 2m bumper at Worcester on only start. Returning from a break and should benefit somewhat from that initial experience. Shaped well before fading on Worcester debut; recent wind op may aid his finishing effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (3/1 -20%)Nelrose |
3/1(-20%) | (5) Nelrose 3/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 12l, in a Mares bumper over 2m at Hexham last time. Effective at 2m on good ground and arrives in good form. Disappointing favourite on second start but was placed on debut at Worcester; a possible. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MASKED MISTRESS stepped forward from her debut when scoring at Uttoxeter in July and the daughter of Masked Marvel appears to have been found an excellent opportunity to back that performance up. Nelrose is better judged on her first run when third at Worcester and that form entitles her to be in the mix, while newcomer Arms Park appeals most of the remainder.

The most obvious answer is MASKED MISTRESS, who beat a big field of females at Uttoxeter in July.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
