The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Having got off the mark in a 0-65 handicap over a mile at Carlisle in mid-June, BELLASIO was then a gallant second when tried over 1m1f at the same venue. Those performances were highly encouraging and another bold showing looks likely off just 1lb higher. Optimatum has also been in good form and is a notable danger with first-time cheekpieces added. Mile By Mile and Eeetee are others who could have a say.

Bellasio is proving dependable but the weekend rain will suit SHALADAR and he can take advantage of some favourable handicapping.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Gennadius and ZOU'S YOUR DADDY are suggested as the pair to focus on. Having finished in the frame on six of his seven previous starts, the former has been reliable and there are good reasons to suggest he can go close again. However, Zou's Your Daddy is officially rated 10lb higher and he sets a decent standard on his first start back after wind surgery. Blunder and Seconds Count are the pick of the remainder.

The most solid option appears to be GENNADIUS, and by some way, but there are dangers among his more lightly raced opponents.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

ELEMENTAL EYE has been consistent in defeat of late and stepping up in trip looks well worth exploring given he is a half-brother to a winner over 2m1f. Conceding weight all round shouldn't be too much of an issue for the Iain Jardine-trained gelding, although Team Endeavour could give him plenty to think about if he produces the form that carried him into a surprise second at Catterick. Bollin Neil and Yakhabar are other each-way prospects.

This is not the most inspiring group, one indication being that ELEMENTAL EYE has his chance to get off the mark at the 21st attempt.

4/1(-20%) | (3) Penfolds Grange 4/1, Ran to form beaten 3l off 76 at Chester last time in first time tongue tie (retained); cheekpieces added first time; trainer in form; can make presence felt AW maiden winner; good 3rd at Chester last month; needs more for the new cheekpieces. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Gloriously Sassy got off the mark in a Beverley maiden and is an interesting contender back in a handicap, but it may pay to side with SAXONIA. Charlie Johnston's charge failed to back up his Newmarket success when finding a class 3 handicap too hot at the same venue and he will appreciate this drop in grade. Immediate Effect is the pick of the remainder.

Having done best of the prominent racers at Southwell last week IMMEDIATE EFFECT is fancied to outclass today's opposition.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Uncle Simon produced a better effort to finish fourth at Wolverhampton last month and now makes his handicap/stable debut, so he is one to keep an eye on in the betting. Beverley scorer Dolly's Delight is respected, but BANTZ looks the way to go. Gemma Tutty's colt filled the runner-up spot in a warmer event at Doncaster last time and goes off an unchanged rating. With a similar performance, he should prove hard to beat.

Several possibles in a good race for the grade. PERFIDIA can capitalise on the drop in class with Dolly's Delight feared most.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

BERKSHIRE PHANTOM would likely have finished much closer than third at Beverley last week with a clear run. The son of Expert Eye struck off a 16lb higher mark at Chester last summer and looks set to take advantage. Wolverhampton winner Sense Of Worth can race off a lower rating back on this surface, although he has yet to win on turf. Wheres The Crumpet could also feature.

Having won tidily off a 7lb higher mark on almost this day last year, ALWAYS FEARLESS gets a tentative vote from Wheres The Crumpet.

8th (1) (10/1 +0%)Deputy |
10/1(+0%) | (1) Deputy 10/1, Below par well beaten in a handicap at Carlisle latest; generally out of form; cheekpieces first time; best form with cut; more needed C&D win off 2lb higher last October; quiet 2025 but grounds for expecting better today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

STORMY PEARL won at Hamilton last summer before scoring over C&D. The daughter of Night Of Thunder may well repeat that double, given she made all over the minimum trip at Hamilton on her latest start, and she remains on a workable mark. Baby Rover was successful on fast ground here last month and then made another bold bid at Ayr. She makes more appeal than Hidden Verse, who is penalised for winning nicely over 5f at Chepstow on Thursday.

Progressive Baby Rover can go well but a 3lb rise for STORMY PEARL (nap)'s recent Hamilton win may not prevent her following up.
Ths is the racecard key.
