1st (2) (4/1 -14%)Silent Flame |
4/1(-14%) | (2) Silent Flame 4/1, Found nil when down the field in a handicap at Newbury most recently; generally out of form; lost form at end of 2024 and is back below last winning mark, but has a lot to prove. Two poor runs this year but return of blinkers looks a big plus; good mark on 2024 best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (3/1 +50%)My Boy Jack |
3/1(+50%) | (5) My Boy Jack 3/1, Ran to form when second and beaten a head in a classified race at Brighton latest; probably best at 7f but effective at 6f; consistent but has a poor strike rate. All three wins on AW at Wolverhampton; running well on turf this summer; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (3/1 -60%)Little Miss Magic |
3/1(-60%) | (3) Little Miss Magic 3/1, Returned to form back on fast ground when beaten 2l off a mark of 56 at Windsor last time; trainer in form; well treated on old form and should be competitive. Poor strike-rate but ran her best race this year when 2nd at Windsor last month; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/2 -100%)Thank The Lord |
11/2(-100%) | (1) Thank The Lord 11/2, Met trouble when weakening when comfortably held in a handicap at Bath last time; effective at 5f/6f, acts on good, firm and AW ground; a little in and out of late. Six-time winner; promising stable debut last month; poor run latest; no headgear today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (10/3 +58%)The Cola Kid |
10/3(+58%) | (4) The Cola Kid 10/3, Stopped quickly and ran a long way below form back in a handicap when beaten 4l off a mark of 52 at Newbury last time; not the most resolute, not the force of old, and on a stiff mark. Won a 0-50 at Bath last month but down the field in a Class 5 at Newbury since; opposable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

LITTLE MISS MAGIC showed a lot more when only finding a subsequent dual winner too good at Windsor and the assessor may have been kind to put her up just 1lb. The daughter of Calyx might only need to reproduce that level of form in order to go one better. My Boy Jack has been thereabouts in each of his last three outings, with two of those efforts coming in classified stakes, and he should remain competitive. The Cola Kid is another to keep an eye on.

A trappy race in which SILENT FLAME could be revived by the returning blinkers. Thank The Lord is next best.

1st (1) (4/11 +56%)A Bit Of Spirit |
4/11(+56%) | (1) A Bit Of Spirit 4/11, Knew job and came clear with useful second when a head winner in a novice at Newbury on debut; should improve a little Battled on gamely to fend off Godolphin hotpot on debut at Newbury (6.5f); sets a high bar. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/1 +38%)Mcmurray |
10/1(+38%) | (2) Mcmurray 10/1, Minor promise beaten 7 1/4l in a novice at Newbury on debut; should improve Over 7lb behind A Bit Of Spirit when sixth of nine on last month's debut at Newbury (6.5f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/1 -71%)Shahik |
6/1(-71%) | (3) Shahik 6/1, 10 Mar; 120,000gns Showcasing gelding; half-brother to Genealogy, smart at 8f; dam smart at 7f at 2yo; worth watching in the market 120,000gns yearling; dam Group-placed 6f 2yo winner; market may guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (8/1 -191%)Wield |
8/1(-191%) | (4) Wield 8/1, 6 Feb; Showcasing colt; half-brother to Headman, high-class at 10f; top trainer in form; yard won this last year 11th foal from a good family; has good standard to reach on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

A Bit Of Spirit sprung a 28/1 surprise to beat subsequent winners on debut at Newbury and should mount a bold bid to follow up. However, his 7lb penalty might open the door for SHAHIK. The son of Showcasing changed hands for 120,000gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to a useful performer in Genealogy, so it would be no surprise to see him make an instant impression. Any market confidence behind fellow newcomer Wield would be interesting.

After running to a useful level on his Newbury debut, A BIT OF SPIRIT looks good enough to overcome a penalty in a novice race.

1st (3) (13/2 -63%)Aspull |
13/2(-63%) | (3) Aspull 13/2, Invincible Spirit colt; half-brother to Blackrod, smart at 6f; dam useful at 8f; hood first time; interesting debutant, but will probably need the experience Had a nice pedigree but wears headgear on debut; watching brief advised. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/4 +42%)Palio Di Siena |
7/4(+42%) | (5) Palio Di Siena 7/4, Travelled well runner-up beaten 1 1/2l in a maiden at Ffos Las on a promising debut; quicker ground is an unknown, but slight drop in trip may suit and sets a good standard Outran 66-1 odds when second on debut at Ffos Las; player if this faster ground also suits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (85/40 +15%)Silent Storm |
85/40(+15%) | (7) Silent Storm 85/40, Similar form both starts latest beaten 9l in a novice over 8f at Windsor; drop back in trip may help and remains open to improvement Second run was a shade disappointing but form of debut fourth at Newbury reads well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (40/1 +20%)Valentine Boy |
40/1(+20%) | (8) Valentine Boy 40/1, Havana Grey gelding; half-brother to Sapperdean, poor at 8f; dam useful at 8f; watching brief advised on debut Third foal; dam 7f/1m AW winner (RPR 78); already gelded; best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (5/2 -67%)Swiss Lightning |
5/2(-67%) | (2) Swiss Lightning 5/2, Pulled hard early, but game winner of a maiden at Newmarket by a head last time; trainer in form; off a short-break; contender Narrow winner of 7f Newmarket maiden in April; should have more improvement to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (100/1 -100%)Signore Enzo |
100/1(-100%) | (6) Signore Enzo 100/1, 7,000 euros Inns Of Court gelding; half-brother to Forrest Prince, very useful at 7f as 2yo; dam smart at 6f; best watched on debut 7,000euros yearling; seems unlikely to meet the standard required on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (80/1 +20%)Saint Terry |
80/1(+20%) | (1) Saint Terry 80/1, Slowly away and comfortably held in a maiden over 8f at Chester second start; usually held up; plenty more needed Safely held in a bumper and on both Flat starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (100/1 -52%)Dreamcrafter |
100/1(-52%) | (4) Dreamcrafter 100/1, Showed some ability on a fair debut, but last of seven at Bath only start since; hard to fancy until shows a lot more Made fairly encouraging debut and second run can be overlooked; others much more likely. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Swiss Lightning got off the mark at the same venue in April and is noted, but it may pay to side with PALIO DI SIENA. The son of Sioux Nation shaped with bundles of promise when occupying the runner-up berth at Ffos Las last month and, with normal progression, he could be the one to beat. Silent Storm appears best of the remainder.

The vote goes to SILENT STORM, who was fourth in a strong 7f Newbury novice on his debut in May.

1st (3) (11/4 +21%)Patsy Snugfit |
11/4(+21%) | (3) Patsy Snugfit 11/4, Keen and didn't get a clear run but was likely outstayed anyway when third of four here last time; significant jockey booking; could bounce back dropped in trip. C&D winner in May; below form over 1m4f last time but still considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/8 +8%)Soul Dance |
11/8(+8%) | (4) Soul Dance 11/8, Met trouble and conceded first run when beaten ¾l off a mark of 75 here last time; progressive; breeding suggests more to come over middle distances but official mark reflects that. Won on last month's handicap debut and has run well in defeat since; upped in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (10/3 -11%)North Star |
10/3(-11%) | (2) North Star 10/3, Ran to form on handicap debut when up in trip and beaten 3l off a mark of 78 at Nottingham last time; off a short break; contender. Made satisfactory handicap debut at Nottingham, finishing third; can improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (9/2 -29%)Queen Of Thieves |
9/2(-29%) | (1) Queen Of Thieves 9/2, Outclassed at this level again when down the field in the Agnes Keyser Fillies' Stakes (Listed) at Goodwood most recently; cheekpieces on for the first time; trainer in form; won a weak maiden and stiff mark is beginning to ease. Safely held in three Listed races since maiden win; headgear on for handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Second when not getting the clearest of runs over 1m here, SOUL DANCE had impressed on her previous start at Nottingham and stepping up in trip can bring about further improvement. Queen Of Thieves has yet to live up to her illustrious pedigree but this represents a steep drop in grade for the daughter of Frankel, while North Star arrives on the back of a promising third on her handicap debut.

All four have possibilities but SOUL DANCE made a good start to her handicap career at around 1m and can improve again over 1m2f.

1st (3) (9/2 -50%)Lexington Knight |
9/2(-50%) | (3) Lexington Knight 9/2, Game and returned to form at a favoured venue when suited by a positive ride to land a handicap by a neck off 72 at Brighton last time; remains well treated on old form and could follow up. Won at Brighton in May, after a break, but younger rivals appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (6/1 -20%)Papagei |
6/1(-20%) | (2) Papagei 6/1, Below par when well beaten in a handicap over 10f at Beverley last time; stays at least 12f, acts on good to soft and good to firm; generally consistent but needs to come down a few pounds. Has mixed record this year but will be dangerous if on song in refitted cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (6/1 -80%)Crystal Mariner |
6/1(-80%) | (4) Crystal Mariner 6/1, A bit keen and flattened out up in trip when beaten 6l in a handicap over 11f at Kempton last time; possibly best at 10-12f; consistent. 0-7 for current stable but has slipped to a good mark and is worth a glance in the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (1/1 +50%)Loving Look |
1/1(+50%) | (1) Loving Look 1/1, A bit keen and flattened out up in trip but ran to form when fourth, beaten 4½l in a handicap over 1m6f at Sandown last time; significant jockey booking; possibly best at 10-12f; mark becoming competitive. Fourth in stronger race than this at Sandown last month; drop back in trip a good move. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (8/1 +6%)Taritino |
8/1(+6%) | (5) Taritino 8/1, Did not find much and ran below par on flat return when beaten 9¼l in a handicap at Goodwood last time; enjoys making the running; in good form over hurdles during the winter; dropping to a workable mark on the flat. Won low-grade handicap hurdle in April but safely held on last month's Flat return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

LEXINGTON KNIGHT returned from a three-month break to register a determined success at Brighton in May and the form of that contest has worked out very well. A 6lb rise looks manageable for Richard Hannon's charge and he may have too much for Loving Look, who was a bit free when a respectable fourth over further at Sandown. Papagei cannot be ruled out either.

Preference is for class-dropper LOVING LOOK (nap), who may have been stretched by 1m6f and now drops back in trip.

1st (1) (2/1 +27%)Emily Rebecca |
2/1(+27%) | (1) Emily Rebecca 2/1, Back to best form when upped in trip and well placed in a race dominated from the front to land a handicap by 2l off 54 at Epsom last time; effective at 10-12f, acts on fast ground and AW; consistent; may find a bit more at 12f now she has her head in front. Opened account with clearcut success at Brighton ten days ago; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/4 +18%)Shabu Shabu |
9/4(+18%) | (5) Shabu Shabu 9/4, Went too fast and did best of those up with the pace when fourth, beaten 5l in a handicap over 10f at Ffos Las latest; significant jockey booking; handicap debut form has been franked; competitive off current rating. Good second on handicap debut; had possible ground excuse last time; up in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (7/4 -40%)Grand Harbour |
7/4(-40%) | (3) Grand Harbour 7/4, Ran to form but just tired late when upped in trip having refused to settle, finishing second and beaten 6l in a handicap at Ripon latest; cheekpieces on for the first time; trainer in form; consistent; should remain competitive over middle distances. No match for clear winner when second at Ripon on Monday but that was still a good effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (14/1 +13%)Godstone |
14/1(+13%) | (2) Godstone 14/1, Below form with no obvious reason when well beaten in a handicap at Kempton latest; significant jockey booking; off a short break; only outside chance. Well beaten on handicap debut in April and not seen again since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (50/1 -25%)Naturally |
50/1(-25%) | (4) Naturally 50/1, Went too fast when upped in trip and didn't stay, comfortably held in a handicap over 11f at Windsor last time; generally out of form; mark looks high; yet to prove stamina for 12f. Eight-race maiden; out of form for new stable this year; too risky.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

SHABU SHABU may have disappointed as an odds-on favourite at Ffos Las but he is best judged on his previous second at Leicester, where he had Emily Rebecca narrowly behind. James Ferguson's charge has a pedigree which suggests he will relish this step up in trip and he can break the maiden at the sixth time of asking. Grand Harbour was a well-beaten second when a warm order at Ripon, but he should have more to come.

Another chance is readily given to SHABU SHABU, who had a possible ground excuse when a beaten odds-on favourite on his latest outing.
Ths is the racecard key.
