5/4(+33%) | (10) Division Day 5/4, Had too much to do behind an all-the-way winner but improved when second, beaten 5l, in a novice hurdle at Doncaster latest behind useful rival. Effective at 2m and progressing over hurdles. Kept on well to snatch second at Doncaster (2m) recently; leading contender over new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (7/4 +36%)Swingingonthesteel |
7/4(+36%) | (7) Swingingonthesteel 7/4, Green and made mistakes but needed the run when fourth, beaten 13l, in a maiden hurdle here latest. Hood on first time, effective at 2m, and looked a gelding going places in bumpers. Dual bumper winner; flopped when 4-9 for hurdle debut here in November; can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (9/1 -100%)Shinealight |
9/1(-100%) | (9) Shinealight 9/1, Below debut form when well beaten up in trip in a maiden hurdle at Newcastle latest. Effective at 2 1/2m, a point winner, and may be one better suited to handicaps. Positives can be taken from both his hurdle runs; considered each-way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (18/1 +18%)Intenzo |
18/1(+18%) | (4) Intenzo 18/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 20l, in a maiden hurdle at Newcastle latest. Effective at 2m and progressing for a new yard, but probably one for handicaps in due course. Displayed clear promise when making the frame in two maidens last month; up in trip here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (18/1 -100%)Noble George |
18/1(-100%) | (5) Noble George 18/1, Outpaced and looked in need of a stiffer test when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Newcastle last time. Effective at 2m1f and may have more to offer now upped in trip. Third of five here on hurdle debut but the form is modest; well held since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (22/1 -22%)Sioux Falls |
22/1(-22%) | (6) Sioux Falls 22/1, Green and made mistakes but ran to form when fourth, beaten 25l, in a novice hurdle at Taunton latest. A point winner who looks a strong stayer under rules. Slightly disappointing at Taunton last month but made promising hurdle debut in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (40/1 -21%)Tea Boy |
40/1(-21%) | (8) Tea Boy 40/1, Green and made mistakes when down the field in a novice hurdle at Wetherby most recently, possibly finding conditions too testing. Effective at 2m, with bumper form franked, but needs to bounce back. Lacked fluency and was always behind on hurdle debut at Wetherby in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (66/1 -32%)Fearless Dragon |
66/1(-32%) | (2) Fearless Dragon 66/1, Green in front and found nothing when well beaten in a bumper at Catterick on his only start. Returns from a long layoff and has plenty to prove on his hurdling debut. Tailed off in five-runner Catterick bumper a year ago and not seen since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (100/1 +0%)Art Dancer |
100/1(+0%) | (1) Art Dancer 100/1, Too green to show anything when down the field on debut in a maiden hurdle at Newcastle most recently. Effective at 2m and showed promise in bumpers, but must leave that debut hurdle form well behind. Struggled when 80-1 for Newcastle maiden hurdle three weeks ago; up from 2m1f today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Point winner Follow Your Luck changed hands for 90,000 pounds last April and the booking of Brian Hughes is noteworthy. Division Day outran his odds to finish second at Doncaster and is respected, but it may pay to side with SWINGINGONTHESTEEL. Rebecca Menzies' gelding was sent off at long odds-on when disappointing in fourth over 2m1f here in November, but that is unlikely to be his true running and the dual bumper winner can make amends.

Brian Ellison's DIVISION DAY caught the eye when running on well to take second over 2m at Doncaster last month and gets the nod.

(6) (2/1 +20%)Huit Reflets |
2/1(+20%) | (6) Huit Reflets 2/1, Won by 5 1/2l off a 6lb lower mark here three starts ago. Ran to form when second, beaten 3/4l, off the same mark last time after conceding first run. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and in good form, with an obvious chance. Won here on Boxing Day and close second here ten days ago; solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (11/4 +39%)Forsa Bay |
11/4(+39%) | (1) Forsa Bay 11/4, Ran to form up in trip on chase debut when a 10l third in a handicap chase at Market Rasen last time. Off a short break, effective at 2 1/2m, suited by decent ground and on a good mark on hurdle form, so should come on for that reappearance. Encouraging third on chase debut and shaped as though he may improve for that run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (7/2 -17%)Mersey Street |
7/2(-17%) | (7) Mersey Street 7/2, Fell in a handicap chase at Catterick last time when well backed. Effective from 2m4f to 2m7f on a sound surface and well treated on hurdle form, so should come on for that latest outing. Poor strike-rate but short-headed on last completed start; could be bang there. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (11/2 -38%)Too Cool Forshrule |
11/2(-38%) | (2) Too Cool Forshrule 11/2, Made mistakes but still ran to form when beaten 6l into third in a handicap chase at Newcastle last time. Effective from 2m4f to 2m7f, suited by decent ground and arrives in good form. Third at Newcastle last time when final-fence mistake proved costly; in calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (13/2 +7%)Begin The Luck |
13/2(+7%) | (3) Begin The Luck 13/2, Scored by a nose off a 2lb lower mark at Wincanton two starts ago. Had every chance when third beaten 17l off the same mark last time, having done plenty early. Effective at 2m4f and running well over fences. Won at Wincanton on Boxing Day; not quite at the same level since but he's not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (9/1 +25%)Ideallko |
9/1(+25%) | (4) Ideallko 9/1, Failed to build on his reappearance when fourth, beaten 55l, in a handicap chase at Chepstow last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f on soft or good ground but may need a drop in class. On a handy mark on last season's form but well beaten in fourth on both outings this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (16/1 +0%)Natural Ability |
16/1(+0%) | (5) Natural Ability 16/1, Needed the run when fourth, beaten 21l, in a handicap chase here last time. Off a short break, effective at 2m and suited by decent ground. Inconsistent, but could build on that return. Stamina to prove but he has some good form here; in the mix if seeing out the trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (40/1 +20%)Paramaribo |
40/1(+20%) | (8) Paramaribo 40/1, Ran to form when comfortably held in a Mixed Open Point at Alnwick last time. Off a short break, effective up to 3m and a Flat and hurdles winner, but must leave previous chase form behind. Won a point last March but pulled up over C&D in November & no threat in a point last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Huit Reflets hit the woodwork over track and trip on his most recent start and rarely runs a bad race, so he is one to take seriously. Similar comments apply to Begin The Luck after his third at Lingfield, but the vote goes to FORSA BAY. The six-year-old showed more when third in a first-time hood at Market Rasen and could have more to offer on just his third handicap outing, with Brian Hughes keeping the ride.

Topweight FORSA BAY made a promising start to his chasing career at Market Rasen in December and gets the nod ahead of Huit Reflets.

(4) (13/8 +35%)Vampire Slayer |
13/8(+35%) | (4) Vampire Slayer 13/8, Rallied, out-battled and outstayed the runner-up when landing a handicap by 1/2l at Catterick last time, off a 4lb lower mark. Effective around 2m and acts on soft and good to soft ground, arriving in good form. Off the mark in a first-time visor at Catterick; strong candidate if backing up that run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (11/4 +8%)Linden Lane |
11/4(+8%) | (5) Linden Lane 11/4, Outpaced and with too much to do when an 8l third in a handicap hurdle at Windsor last time, returning from a break and needing the run. Effective at 2m and likely to get a bit further. Recent form franked and should be tough to beat. 0-9 but third at Windsor on New Year's Day and that form has worked out extremely well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (6/1 -20%)Animato |
6/1(-20%) | (1) Animato 6/1, Returned to form down in class when fourth, beaten 7 1/2l, in a handicap hurdle at Wetherby last time. Effective at 2m on a sound surface and steadily progressing since going handicapping. Fourth on handicap hurdle debut at Wetherby and today's extra yardage looks a plus; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (6/1 +14%)Prized Jet |
6/1(+14%) | (3) Prized Jet 6/1, Yard won this race last year; made too much use of when comfortably held in a handicap chase here last time. Off a short break, effective at 2m6f–3m, but yet to convince over fences, having shown promise over hurdles in Ireland. The drop in trip could be just what she needs on her second stable start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (9/1 -80%)Warrior Lion |
9/1(-80%) | (8) Warrior Lion 9/1, Yard won this race last year; ran to form when second, beaten 6l, in a classified race at Wolverhampton last time. Yet to show much over hurdles and more is needed back in this company. Runner-up on AW last month but that form is very modest; 0-27 (0-7 over hurdles). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (10/1 +50%)Mexican Stan |
10/1(+50%) | (6) Mexican Stan 10/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon last time. Trainer is in form, a tongue-tie is applied for the first time and he is off a short break; effective at 2m, but must leave that reappearance behind. Lightly raced but pulled up on handicap debut and has to leave that form miles behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (11/1 -10%)Snapius |
11/1(-10%) | (2) Snapius 11/1, Well held by less exposed rivals when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Leicester last time. Effective at 2m and suited by cut, but a bounce back is needed. Below last winning mark; market check advised but he's struggled on his last three starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (12/1 +14%)Estate Planning |
12/1(+14%) | (7) Estate Planning 12/1, Found nil when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow last time. Effective at 2m, but out of form this term. His mark continues to fall but he hasn't got competitive this term and remains a maiden. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

VAMPIRE SLAYER showed significant improvement in a first-time visor score by half a length at Catterick and is now just 4lb higher. Provided the six-year-old is in similar form, he will prove a tough nut to crack. Linden Lane made the frame in this grade at Windsor on New Year's Day and needs to be considered along with Snapius, who competes off a workable rating.

With the drop in trip appearing a likely plus, the lightly raced mare PRIZED JET can get off the mark now reverting to hurdles.

(1) (2/1 -14%)Supreme George |
2/1(-14%) | (1) Supreme George 2/1, Landed a handicap by 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark at Catterick last time where he held on. Enjoys making it and is effective at 2m, possibly further, while remaining progressive over fences despite a busy recent schedule. 3-3 this winter after wind op; could still be well treated off 4lb higher than last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (5/2 -25%)Sea Thrift |
5/2(-25%) | (5) Sea Thrift 5/2, Landed a handicap by 3 1/4l off a 7lb lower mark at Plumpton last time. Tongue-tie is applied for the first time, and she remains on a good mark based on her hurdles efforts. Made all at Plumpton recently on second chase start and a 7lb penalty may not stop her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (11/4 +50%)Double Digits |
11/4(+50%) | (2) Double Digits 11/4, Was a bit below form on his first start over fences when fourth beaten 17l in a handicap chase here latest. Effective over 2m-2m3f and expected to show more as a chaser. Ran well for a long way over 2m3f here on chase debut; the drop back in trip may be ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (8/1 +0%)Raffles Wonder |
8/1(+0%) | (4) Raffles Wonder 8/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase here latest. Effective at 2m and was in good form before a break, but has struggled this term after showing signs he may not have stayed last time. Last season concluded with two wins in a row but he's struggled on both starts this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (8/1 +0%)Treaty Boy |
8/1(+0%) | (6) Treaty Boy 8/1, Returned to form when a 7l third in a handicap chase at Catterick on his most recent run. Effective around 2m, but his recent record highlights an inconsistent profile. Below last winning mark but mixed form this season and he needs to raise his game. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (10/1 -25%)Boston Boy |
10/1(-25%) | (3) Boston Boy 10/1, Outpaced and comfortably held when producing another poor effort in a handicap chase at Lingfield last time. Cheekpieces are applied for the first time, but he has yet to take to chasing. Well beaten on both chase starts; hopes pinned on 1st-time cheekpieces giving him a boost. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Having dominated the field at Plumpton recently, there should be more to come from SEA THRIFT. That was the seven-year-old's first completed start over fences and she looks more than capable of defying a 7lb penalty. Supreme George is chasing a four-timer and isn't taken lightly off just 4lb higher than his latest triumph at Catterick, but a bigger threat may emerge from Double Digits, who shaped encouragingly on his chase bow over further here on Boxing Day.

The 6yo SUPREME GEORGE is firmly on the up and could still be well handicapped. He's taken to complete the four-timer.

(3) (5/2 +0%)East Eagle |
5/2(+0%) | (3) East Eagle 5/2, Travelled well and returned to form when benefiting from a decent test, landing a handicap by a head at Catterick last time off a 4lb lower mark. Effective at 3m but unreliable, with his run style requiring a strong pace. Won by a head at Catterick last time and this in-form 6yo is a key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (11/4 +0%)Dillarchie |
11/4(+0%) | (4) Dillarchie 11/4, Made mistakes but returned to form when beaten 3l off a 1lb lower mark at Catterick last time. Back from a short break; effective over 3m+, and fairly treated if able to build on that recent revival. Won this two years ago and good second at Catterick last time; has a big part to play. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (9/2 +31%)Scudamore |
9/2(+31%) | (1) Scudamore 9/2, Outpaced but ran to form when third, beaten 7l, in a handicap hurdle at Southwell on his latest run. Returning from a break; effective at 2-3m, generally consistent over hurdles and well treated on old form, having shown in spring that he retains his ability. Kept on for third over 3m at Southwell last time and could be suited by today's test. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (9/2 +36%)Ballin Bay |
9/2(+36%) | (2) Ballin Bay 9/2, The yard won this race last year. Returned to form on reappearance but had too much to do when fourth, beaten 4l, in a handicap hurdle at Wetherby. Effective at 3m-3m2f; form can be in and out but he remains on a competitive mark. Promising fourth at Wetherby recently and he could be suited by this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (6/1 +0%)King Casey |
6/1(+0%) | (7) King Casey 6/1, Ran to form but may have been challenged too early when beaten 3l off a 1lb lower mark at Wetherby last time. Cheekpieces are applied for the first time; effective at 3m but remains an inconsistent maiden. 0-10 but achieved closest finish yet when 3rd at Wetherby recently; might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (13/2 -18%)Honey I'm Good |
13/2(-18%) | (5) Honey I'm Good 13/2, No match for the winner but ran to form when second, beaten 7 1/2l, in a handicap chase at Hereford on reappearance, appreciating the step back up in trip. Effective over 3m+, well treated on chase form but likely to need this. Well handicapped on 2024 chase form but returns from long absence and is 0-8 over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (12/1 +14%)Topkapi Star |
12/1(+14%) | (6) Topkapi Star 12/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster on her latest start. Back from a short break; effective at 2m4f-2m6f, but a bounce back is required on recent evidence. Won easily at Ayr last January but unable to match that level of form in the meantime. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

East Eagle dug deep when securing a second career victory at Catterick last month, but both the second and third have subsequently disappointed. A 4lb higher mark demands more of Mike Sowersby's charge and preference is for C&D winner DILLARCHIE. The nine-year-old found only a subsequent winner too strong at the North Yorkshire venue 50 days ago and a return to this track could prove fruitful. Honey I'm Good may fare best of the remainder.

The mare DILLARCHIE (nap) won this race in 2024 and is taken to land it for a second time, having returned to form when second last time

(6) (2/1 -14%)Jukebox Joker |
2/1(-14%) | (6) Jukebox Joker 2/1, Returned to form when landing a handicap by 3l off a 5lb lower mark at Warwick last time, down in trip and back from a break. Effective over 2 1/2m; inconsistent, but could progress now he has won. Came good on recent seasonal debut at Warwick and is open to further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (10/3 -33%)Getaway With You |
10/3(-33%) | (2) Getaway With You 10/3, Scored by 7 1/2l off a 10lb lower mark at Lingfield in December and ran to form when second, beaten 1 1/2l, off 95 last time. Effective over 2m4f-3m and acts on heavy and good to soft. Much improved since cheekpieces were refitted in autumn (three wins); likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (7/2 +56%)Peckforton Hills |
7/2(+56%) | (3) Peckforton Hills 7/2, Below form when stepped up in trip and never put into the race when well beaten in a novice hurdle at Newbury last time. Cheekpieces are applied for the first time; effective at 2m1f and acts on soft. Well beaten in three novice hurdles but ought to me much more competitive in this handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (11/2 +21%)Thank You Blue |
11/2(+21%) | (1) Thank You Blue 11/2, Made mistakes and was never threatened when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Catterick last time. Effective over 2-2 1/2m and acts on good ground, but needs to bounce back from that effort. Back on a good mark and might have needed last month's run but is not straightforward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (13/2 +46%)Ruler Legend |
13/2(+46%) | (4) Ruler Legend 13/2, Did not find much after looking a big threat when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Wetherby last time, possibly not staying on easy ground. Effective over 2m on a sound surface, with stamina still to prove. Just 1-13 over hurdles but arguably ran better than bare form suggests on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (12/1 -20%)Kellie's Dream |
12/1(-20%) | (8) Kellie's Dream 12/1, Did not find much after racing freely and jumping poorly when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Carlisle last time. Returns from a short break; effective around 2m and acts on soft and good to soft, but out of form since moving from Ireland. Safely held after racing too freely on both outings this season; tongue-tie refitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (14/1 -17%)Port Or Starboard |
14/1(-17%) | (5) Port Or Starboard 14/1, Continued in moderate form when fourth, beaten 21l, in a handicap hurdle at Ffos Las last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground, but needs more and does not look the force of old. Out of form over 2m this season but on very good mark and worth a glance in the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (20/1 -25%)Uncle Mac |
20/1(-25%) | (9) Uncle Mac 20/1, Had too much to do and was unsuited by the drop in trip when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Carlisle last time, needing the run. Returns from a long layoff; effective over 2 1/2-3m but remains a maiden with plenty to prove. 0-11 under all codes and absent since low-key chase run last April. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Getaway With You hasn't finished outside the top three in each of his last seven starts, most recently filling the runner-up spot at Fakenham, and is likely to be thereabouts. The booking of Brian Hughes on handicap debutant Peckforton Hills is interesting, but JUKEBOX JOKER might be the one. Evan Williams' charge went in by three lengths in this class at Warwick and can defy a 5lb rise to record a double.

This might go to JUKEBOX JOKER, who returned from a layoff with a recent Warwick win and still has scope for further progress.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
