(1) Blue Fin 1.38/1, Runner-up on only start in bumpers and opened his account at the third time of asking over hurdles in 8-runner novice at Newcastle (16.9f) in February. Turned in a bit of a lacklustre effort under a penalty at Uttoxeter but still a major player in an uncompetitive race.

(4) Longstone Cowboy 40/1, Little impact between the flags but much more like it fitted with a hood when runner-up on second hurdles outing at Hexham (20.1f) in September. Ran to a similar level at Kelso next time but has his work cut out up against a fairly useful pair on his return.

(2) Rambo T 0.67/1, Fairly useful bumper winner who confirmed previous promise upped in trip when off the mark in 13-runner novice at Chepstow (19.4f) 48 days ago, albeit fortunate on the day. Has obvious claims of following up.
LTO Selection:

14:10 Sedgefield Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Although a slightly fortunate winner at Chepstow last time (two lengths down when left clear at the last) RAMBO T sets the standard as he looks to follow up. The form of the Ollly Murphy stable is another plus and he should have too much for Newcastle winner Blue Fin, who is better than what he showed at Uttoxeter last time. Longstone Cowboy has claims on his penultimate second at Hexham.

A likely match between BLUE FIN and Rambo T. The former was a shade underwhelming at Uttoxeter last time, but he'd previously been going the right way and can get back to winning ways in an uncompetitive event.

This can go to RAMBO T, who had the placed horses well strung out behind him when scoring over a similar trip at Chepstow last time.

(5) Cilluirid 50/1, Has developed into a Sedgefield specialist over fences, winning 4 handicaps here in 2021/22. Well held here when last seen in May but returns on a winning mark. Market should reveal expectations.
LTO Selection:

14:45 Sedgefield Handicap Chase (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Road Warrior has never been the most consistent and it is difficult to know if he can uphold the form he showed when bounding clear at Newcastle last month. The safer option may be MISTER BELLS, who got it together for these connections at Market Rasen and is still well handicapped on his old Irish form. Fulgurix is a decent sort at this level and must be noted, along with the capable Getaway Luv.

ROAD WARRIOR capitalised on his lowest mark for 2 years at Newcastle last month and remains potentially well treated up 7 lb, so he is taken to follow up with his yard still in good form. Cilluirid has an excellent record here and reappears on a winning mark, so may emerge as the biggest threat ahead of Fulgurix.

Top of the list is ROAD WARRIOR (nap), who cashed in on a reduced mark with his dominant display at Newcastle last month.

LTO Selection:

15:20 Sedgefield Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

WASPY finished a good second in behind the now 131-rated Crambo on his hurdling debut in February and Donald McCain's charge could go one better with improvement likely. Thunderclap has been running well in defeat and he must go on the shortlist, along with Artiste D'ainay, who arrives on the back of a creditable Musselburgh effort. My Brother Jack heads the remainder.

WASPY is sure to be suited by further in time but his second to subsequent EBF Final winner Crambo at Bangor in February catches the eye, so he's an obvious choice to go one better. Thunderclap and My Brother Jack are considered the main threats.

Several have possibilities but Hughie Morrison's THUNDERCLAP gets the vote ahead of Artiste D'Ainay.

LTO Selection:

15:55 Sedgefield Handicap Chase (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Beat The Edge idled when hitting the front at Wetherby last month and though he scrambled home, it would have to raise slight concerns. ZARA'S UNIVERSE was rewarded for her consistency when winning at Market Rasen last time and, with a 5lb rise in the handicap unlikely to pose an issue, she edges the vote. Chemical Warfare is another to consider.

It could be worth chancing chase debutant GUILLAUME, who caught the eye on his latest start over hurdles and has the physique for this discipline. Chemical Warfare and Zara's Universe rate the principal dangers.

The vote goes to ZARA'S UNIVERSE, who was a clearcut win at Market Rasen last month and should have more to offer in this sphere.

LTO Selection:

16:30 Sedgefield Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 27f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

THATBEATSBANAGHER gained immediate compensation when winning over C&D last month, having been narrowly beaten by The Blame Game the start prior. Good ground might not have played to his strengths on that occasion and it would be no surprise were he to reverse the form with conditions set to suit. Mr Palmtree routed his rivals at Warwick 15 days ago and he looks a likely player once more, along with Atomic Angel.

Plenty in with a shout over this marathon trip, including last year's winner GREAT RAFFLES. It's possible he will be sharper for his Wetherby run 24 days ago and this sort of mark doesn't look beyond him back up in trip. The Blame Game and Thatbeatsbanagher have both compiled good course records and are others expected to be in the mix.

We already know THATBEATSBANAGHER loves it here and he is taken to defy a 5lb rise and win again.

LTO Selection:

17:05 Sedgefield Handicap Chase (Class 5) 27f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

LAWTOP LEGEND was not his usual self when pulling up at Fakenham last month, but that was his first run since August 2021 and he was entitled to be rusty. He has won off this mark and over a similar trip before and may bounce back to his best with stamina at a premium. Skyhill has won over C&D on similar ground and cannot be discounted, while the returning Archie Brown could make the frame.

Having landed a double in the winter, SKYHILL has shaped as if still in reasonable form the last twice, so he looks a solid proposition in a race where the majority have something to prove. Vetoncall and Henry Brown look the main dangers.

The tentative vote goes to SKYHILL, who registered a soft-ground C&D win earlier in the season.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Benito is beginning to look well handicapped having won off this mark last year, but his best form is over further than this and he may find some have too much speed for him. Killane is interesting in first-time blinkers with a 10lb conditional on board, but he has been out of sorts for some time, and TONYX may have the edge. Although a character and pulled up at Fakenham last month, she won easily over C&D in 2021 and may be able to make all in this company.

It might be worth taking a chance on KILLANE, who is well treated, particularly when William Maggs's 10 lb claim is taken into account, if first-time blinkers have a positive effect. Lovin Jukebox, a stablemate of the selection, and Edgar Allan Poe were second/third in the same C&D contest last time and may provide the main opposition.

The tentative suggestion is EL JEFE who has trip and ground to suit and has recently been heading steadily the right way again.
