11/2(-65%) | (1) Dreal Deal 11/2, Outstayed well beaten in a handicap chase over 2m4f at Ballinrobe latest; generally out of form; more needed Retains a hurdles rating that gives him a chance in theory, looks risky on chase form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (7/1 +72%)Mephisto |
7/1(+72%) | (4) Mephisto 7/1, Did not get a clear run 5l third in a claiming hurdle over 2m4f at Clonmel most recent run; trainer in form; all to do Three Flat wins, 0-17 over jumps, outran his odds in a claimer at Clonmel last month. |

Although he has plenty to find at the weights with a couple of these, MUST MEET CECIL looks the most solid option. A former course and distance winner, the Cian Collins-trained gelding arrives here in good form having finished runner-up in a similar grade at Wexford last time. With question marks against both of the higher-rated horses in this contest, he is taken to add a sixth career success. Former Grade 2 hurdle winner Dreal Deal would take the beating if anywhere near his best. The gelding had been in fair form around this time last year, but, having disappointed last time, he isn't one to place total faith in here. Similar comments apply to the 130-rated Embittered.

Far too many question marks for comfort, but perhaps EMBITTERED, sharpened by a recent chase run, can exploit the race conditions

NASHVILLE NOTIONS has shown enough on four runs over flights to date to suggest that she can be competitive here. The five-year-old daughter of Milan will need to improve on her most recent effort at Wexford but on the balance of her previous form, she sets the standard. While an official rating of 96 wouldn't usually be good enough to win a maiden, this looks a modest contest for the grade. Kates Choice is open to further improvement having only had the two starts over hurdles. In normal circumstances one would expect her to pick up valuable experience en route to a handicap mark but this looks a winnable race. Annarubyrose is another with the potential to do better.

A tentative vote goes to NASHVILLE NOTIONS Her Cork fifth reads well in the context of this race and she won't mind if conditions ease

Point-to-point winner QUANTUM BOY is worth another chance on his second start under Rules. Off the track for 545 days following that initial success, the Diamond Boy gelding proved disappointing in a Punchestown bumper on his first run on the track. Undoubtedly much better than that bare form suggests, the six-year-old can show his true ability on his hurdling debut. Wholelotofbusiness returned from a long absence to finish runner-up at Killarney last month. Although unable to build on that performance at Listowel subsequently, the gelding is entitled to forgiveness. With trainer Eoin McCarthy back amongst the winners of late, the six-year-old holds leading claims. Clonmel second Tom Sarah Evelyn should also be involved for the John Patrick Ryan yard.

The 115 rated WHOLELOTOFBUSINESS may be able to get his head in front if repeating the form of his close second at Killarney

Having met with traffic problems when third at Ballinrobe last time, LEITZEL can gain compensation. The Andrew McNamara-trained five-year-old had to wait for a gap after jumping the second last, before staying on well to be nearest at the finish. Well handicapped over flights relative to her mark on the Flat, the daughter of Teofilo has every chance of registering a first win under National Hunt rules. Farrokh is another horse on a recovery mission, having fallen at the first flight at Down Royal recently. Rated 8lb higher over fences, the Barry Connell-trained gelding has leading claims. Bowgate Street is also worthy of consideration having won here in the past.

A chance is taken on KALANISI DUBH who handles most ground, is just 2lb above her last win and she has run okay here before

15th (7) (28/1 -100%)Robyndeglory |
28/1(-100%) | (7) Robyndeglory 28/1, Below par well beaten in a handicap hurdle over 3m1f at Cartmel latest where found ground too quick; likely similar story here Over two years since the most recent of his five hurdle wins, good run three starts ago. |

A competitive-looking contest and OUR ZEBO may be able to land his hat-trick after a couple of easy wins. The Mastercraftsman gelding has been a revelation on his last two outings at Tramore and Downpatrick, coming from off the pace to score in style. He got a 10lb hike for his last win but could still have a bit left in him. Oran McGill takes a useful 5lb off his back in this amateur contest. Ilbdare landed a gamble over course and distance last month and went up 9lb. He's a likely danger. Mags Nelson also won last time out, when well supported in Tramore, and is another for the shortlist.

The locally-trained ILBDARE landed a gamble here last time and may have improved enough to reverse Tramore form with Our Zebo

28/1(-12%) | (16) Brock Beauty 28/1, Won a maiden point at Necarne over 3m by 10l last time; steadily progressive; cheekpieces first time; down in trip; returning from a break; not one to rely on Weak hurdles form early in her career, caused a surprise with a recent maiden point win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (33/1 +18%)Lucky Junior |
33/1(+18%) | (9) Lucky Junior 33/1, Fell in a handicap hurdle over 2m3f at Limerick latest; not proven trip; more needed and looks too high in weights Took a heavy fall at Limerick on stable debut, 25-1 then, hard to make a case for him. |

SHE'LL BE KEPT looks capable of winning in this grade. She ran well in a maiden hurdle at Tramore last time when third to Derryville and the handicapper has left her on the same mark back in handicap company now. Cornmarket won at a big price here last month and has to be respected. An 8lb rise for that success doesn't look too harsh as he won by six lengths then. Cullagh Pride ran much better on her last outing when getting within half-a-length of Next Stop Paris in Cork last month. A similar run would see her get involved.

Raised 8lb for winning here four weeks ago, Cornmarket may not cope with fifth-placed COIS FHARRAIGE who shaped well until fading

AL ARRIVEE was runner-up on her sole outing at Galway last October and can go one better on her return to action now. Cailin Deas was last seen finishing fourth to a smart sort in Ballybow here last October and could be the danger on her return. Crossbar Getaway was runner-up at Tramore recently and comes here with a fitness advantage, so has to be respected.

This is a good opportunity for Al Boum Photo's half-sister AL ARRIVEE (nap) who has had ample time to mature since her debut

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
