ROARING RALPH and Amarachi have been resurgent and are the pair to focus on. The latter has shown improved form since stepping up to a mile and she would be dangerous to ignore from a competitive rating. However, Michael Dods' gelding competes off 16lb below his last winning mark and he has slightly more compelling claims on these terms. Volendam and Starshot also merit consideration.

An open contest where SCENARIO is given another chance to take advantage of some good recent form and get back to winning ways.

(12) (50/1 +0%)Trouble In Chicago |
50/1(+0%) | (12) Trouble In Chicago 50/1, A bit better effort but still poor when comfortably held in a novice at Newcastle last time. She has yet to show any ability. Well beaten at big odds in three maiden and novice events.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

UP THE MONK, who is a previous C&D winner, ran zestfully to win in a first-time visor at Chelmsford last week. He could be tough to resist if the headgear continues to draw the best out of him. Autumn Angel is interesting in a race of this nature with a visor also tried, while Korroor was noticeably well backed on his most recent start and is also noted.

The suggestion is AUTUMN ANGEL, who's been thereabouts of late, acts here and it's hoped she can respond well to a first-time visor.

(4) (13/2 -95%)Allegrino |
13/2(-95%) | (4) Allegrino 13/2, Suited by the step up to 7f, improving when winning a novice at Lingfield by 1 1/2l last time. Effective at 6/7f on the all-weather, she won cosily and may have a bit more to offer now handicapping. 7f Polytrack novice winner; fair mark for this handicap debut and she's a probable player.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

BAKER BLUE, who comprehensively held Mr Juggles (third) when he won a novice event over C&D in December, is strongly fancied to put a winning stamp on this race. This is tougher than the nursery Must Be Ten landed at Wolverhampton and a 4lb rise demands a lot more of him. Therefore, the speedy Allegrino, a tenacious winner over 7f at Lingfield, could be a bigger danger with dropping in trip not expected to cause issues.

Back up in trip, BAKER BLUE still looks the one they all have to get past in this and is taken to record a second C&D success.

250/1(-100%) | (4) Glamerous 250/1, Made minor late headway when well beaten in a maiden at Kempton on her only start. Bred to stay well, she could improve, but this looks a tough assignment. Never-dangerous debut sixth at Kempton 17 days ago; needs to take a major step forward. |

SHABAB AL AHLI boasts a smart pedigree, being closely related to Group 3 winner Klondike and a half-brother to Queen's Vase hero Kemari, and cost 500,000gns at Tattersalls Book 1 in October 2024. Having clearly needed time just like his aforementioned siblings, Charlie Appleby's colt gets the vote at the expense of Asia Force, who finished second on debut at Newcastle. Patient Game heads the remainder.

Charlie Appleby's Frankel colt SHABAB AL AHLI is bred to be smart and he can make a winning start here to thwart Asia Force

(7) (12/1 -20%)Broadstone |
12/1(-20%) | (7) Broadstone 12/1, Did his best work late when running to form, beaten 2l off this mark here last time. Effective at 8–11f and remains on a competitive mark if able to reproduce that effort. Inconsistent 15-race maiden but he reached the frame here latest; could be dangerous. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

The change of headgear to a visor has made a difference to NIGHT BEAR, with the nine-year-old's latest second here a fortnight ago a step in the right direction. A 2lb rise is unlikely to stop him from going one better. Haliphon was third at this venue over further last month and is likely to enter the reckoning along with Argentum, who sports blinkers for the first time after placing at Kempton last time.

Preference is for HAVACHOC, who came good with a dominant display in a classified event at Wolverhampton 20 days ago.

28/1(+30%) | (10) Apache Eagle 28/1, Another poor run when a bad error did not help as he was well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Catterick last time. Has a bit to prove back on the Flat. Wasn't showing enough on the Flat towards the end of 2025 to suggest he's the one to be on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

SMOKEY MALONE returned to winning ways over 1m6f here a couple of weeks ago and a 3lb rise for that win may not be enough to stop him from following up in this moderate event. The recent Kempton second Duchess is likely to be the main threat to the selection, while Moon Over The Sea and Busby are others to note.

This could to go SOME BOY ME, who showed encouraging signs in November in his first two handicaps. Free Pic is second choice.

(2) (16/1 +0%)Camino Del Ray |
16/1(+0%) | (2) Camino Del Ray 16/1, Below form when beaten 7 1/4l in a handicap at Redcar last time. Effective at 7f, but that run suggests he may need this to return to his best. Safely held in first two handicaps and absent since last July. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Aisling Oscar merits the utmost respect following seven consecutive wins since November, but his new mark demands much more from him here. As a result, preference is for MARRY THE NIGHT, who is only 3lb higher than when winning over C&D a couple of weeks ago. Soames Forsyte is another recent victor to note, while Bajan Bandit and Forest Caper complete the shortlist.

Unlucky not to finish much closer to the target on his latest outing, EVE'S BOY (nap) is taken to exploit a favourable mark.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Cill Mocheallog impressed with a cosy win over C&D a fortnight ago. A 7lb rise still leaves him on a competitive rating based on peak form and, with Robert Havlin retaining the ride, another bold bid is likely. However, he was a well-held third behind REGINALD CHARLES when they clashed here in December and Geoff Oldroyd's gelding can uphold the form on 3lb better terms. Fools Rush In and Asian Journey are other key players.

Mick Appleby has his string in excellent nick and it could pay to side with his new recruit VALSHARAH to gain a breakthrough win.

(6) (33/1 +0%)Our Misty Blue |
33/1(+0%) | (6) Our Misty Blue 33/1, No-show from off the pace down the field in a handicap at Newcastle most recent; off a short-break; effective at 7f on AW; needs more off reduced mark. Lightly raced 4yo who beat only one on his handicap debut over C&D in November. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

King Of York ran a lot better than his odds suggested when filling the runner-up spot over a mile here on his most recent start and is respected, but LANDLORDTOTHESTARS makes the most appeal. James Evans' gelding failed to supplement his Wolverhampton triumph when second over the same C&D next time, but that was still a good effort and he looks the one to beat. Enpassant completes the shortlist.

The nod goes to KING OF YORK who signalled he is ready to garner a fifth C&D win when edged out here on his return from nine months off.
Ths is the racecard key.
