|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (4/1 +11%)Hot Rod Lincoln |
4/1(+11%) | (5) Hot Rod Lincoln 4/1, Found little, well below form when fourth beaten 127l in a handicap hurdle at Lingfield latest; trainer in form; effective up to 3m with cut; return to fences might help him recapture best. Big recent hurdles defeat but nicely handicapped now; Sean Bowen (4-5 for yard) is booked. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BANK ON FRANK forced a dead-heat for second on his chasing debut at Fontwell in November, giving the impression a step up to 3m would see him in an even better light. Ben Pauling's charge appears to have been found an ideal opportunity to get off the mark. Streamsforth Lad unseated rider at Uttoxeter on his first attempt over the larger obstacles but is worth another chance, especially in first-time cheekpieces, while Prince Cleni completes the shortlist.

The suggestion is BANK ON FRANK (nap), who took a firm step forward on his chasing debut in November and has more to offer.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/1 +10%)Gaelic Rambler |
9/1(+10%) | (3) Gaelic Rambler 9/1, Unseated when held in a handicap chase at Wincanton latest; effective at 3m on G; open to improvement over fences. Runner-up in 2 Irish points; unseated on h'cap/chase debut but unexposed and can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (4/1 +50%)Rule Me In |
4/1(+50%) | (8) Rule Me In 4/1, Below form up in trip when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Newbury last time; effective over 2m-2m4f and may need some slight give. His jumping must improve to figure over fences. Hasn't got going in h'cap chases but has been attracting support; can probably do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (18/1 -100%)Get Up Mush |
18/1(-100%) | (2) Get Up Mush 18/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Market Rasen last time; effective over 2m4f-3m1f and acts on good to soft and good. Has been below par since a layoff and needs to raise his game. Poor in 2 starts this term and has a question to answer at present; market support a help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (6/1 +20%)Disguisedlimit |
6/1(+20%) | (6) Disguisedlimit 6/1, Went clear and returned to form down in trip but was probably ridden overly aggressively when beaten 5l in a handicap chase at Ayr last time; effective over 2m-2m4f and acts on soft and good. Possibly capable of better in a tongue-tie. One blip in four starts for the yard; solid third last time; tongue-tie goes on; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (11/1 -47%)Doyouknowwhatimean |
11/1(-47%) | (1) Doyouknowwhatimean 11/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Wetherby last time; effective over 2m-2m4f and acts on any ground. Needs to bounce back from that below-par effort to feature. Good 2nd (2m4f, heavy) on yard debut in December; pulled up latest but can't be ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

HE KNOWS BETTER has been knocking on the door since falling on his first try over fences at Haydock in December and the drop in trip may provide the opportunity required for him to strike. Disguisedlimit finished third at Ayr last time and could step forward with a tongue tie applied on this occasion. Others to consider are William Cody and Gaelic Rambler.

A chance is taken on the unexposed GAELIC RAMBLER, who has the looks to make a chaser and can strip fitter after last month's comeback.

150/1(-733%) | (9) Little Ruby 150/1, Mondialiste mare out of a dam who was a moderate Flat winner up to 16f. Likely to come up short on debut in what looks a good bumper. By Mondialiste; family of According To Pete; yard 0-3 in bumpers this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (150/1 -88%)Arizona Moon |
150/1(-88%) | (2) Arizona Moon 150/1, Poor on debut when well beaten in a bumper at Hereford in a tongue-tie on his only start. Hard to make a case for on that evidence and likely to need more time. 18-1 and beaten an awfully long way on his debut at Hereford (soft) last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Brecharnon won on his sole outing for Tom Weston at Chepstow last March but whether he can give away a 7lb penalty on his first appearance for Dan Skelton remains to be seen. With that in mind, the vote goes to MIDNIGHT JUKEBOX. The five-year-old got the better of Listed-placed hurdler Soldier Reeves in a point-to-point and was subsequently purchased for 135,000 pounds. From a yard who do particularly well in this sphere, he may just have the edge. Smokehouse, Sea Tempest and Kappa Des Mottes head the remainder.

Brecharnon sets the standard but some of the rules debutants are interesting, none more so than MIDNIGHT JUKEBOX.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

PERTEMPS gets a confident vote here for Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen. His best effort to date came in the mud at Uttoxeter two starts ago and a replication might be good enough, not least because the return to further should suit. Big Cadillac has yet to confirm the promise of his bumper win but will at least find this easier than the Grade 2 he contested at Cheltenham in December. Keep an eye on Escort'kheops too.

Big Cadillac commands respect but this can go to PERTEMPS, who should appreciate this longer trip.

Easily won three-runner military riders' race at Wincanton last time; high on the list. |

7th (11) (11/4 +21%)Huckleberry Sting |
11/4(+21%) | (11) Huckleberry Sting 11/4, Made a promising debut in points after an absence when winning a maiden point at Didmarton by 5l last time. 12/1(-167%) | (4) Heaven Smart 12/1, Ran to form when 7 1/4l third in a handicap chase at Musselburgh last time. Off a short break and effective at 2m4f-3m. Returns to hurdling here. Chiefly in good form over fences in autumn; 0-11 over hurdles but respected nevertheless. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Vicki Sollitt got a good tune out of HIDOR DE BERSY in a small field at Wincanton and that form probably needs treating with a degree of caution. That said, Mel Rowley's gelding is only 3lb higher and whilst a few of these have something to prove, he can cash in. Stable companion Kastellion goes handicapping for the first time and must be monitored in the betting, as must Jaffa Cake, to whom the same comments apply, and Heaven Smart isn't out of this either.

Having won a British maiden point by 5l last March, HUCKLEBERRY STING has potential off his basement opening mark.

ASA was edged out in a tight finish at Wetherby before winning over fences at Catterick. She's back over hurdles this afternoon and is only 5lb higher than when cruising to victory in this contest 12 months ago. Leicester scorer Queen Of Steel merits plenty of respect because she won't mind a return to 3m, while Innisfree Lass is a former winner of this too, but she was well beaten by Asa last time.

In-form Asa took this by a wide margin last year but prolific QUEEN OF STEEL will be no pushover and earns a narrow vote.
Ths is the racecard key.
