1st (11) (10/3 +0%)Mr Nugget |
10/3(+0%) | (11) Mr Nugget 10/3, Scored by a neck off a 3lb lower mark at Wolverhampton on his penultimate start; had a long wait for racing room and finished best when second, beaten a head off 70 last time, same mark here; effective over 9-12f; in good form and unlucky latest so looks the one to beat. This trip may be as short as he would want, but can't be dismissed in his current mood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (9/1 +25%)Selection |
9/1(+25%) | (6) Selection 9/1, Ran to form back up in trip when beaten 3 1/4l off a 1lb higher mark here last time; effective over 6-8f; generally consistent. Won at Newcastle in October, but the handicapper has been in charge since. |

17/2(-21%) | (5) Hale End 17/2, Scored by 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark here on his penultimate start; had too much to do in a race dominated from the front but ran to form when fourth, beaten 3l off 74 last time, same mark here; best at 8f and still on a competitive mark. Beat a course specialist over C&D in December; needs a solid pace to aim at. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (11/2 +39%)Panama Black |
11/2(+39%) | (1) Panama Black 11/2, Ran to form up in class when just outstayed late, beaten 2l off a 1lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time; effective over 7-8f; needs to build on that latest revival. C&D winner; ran well when fourth on last month's Wolverhampton return; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (6/1 +25%)Grabajabba |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (12/1 +14%)Rajapour |
12/1(+14%) | (3) Rajapour 12/1, Scored by 1 1/2l off a 1lb lower mark at Wolverhampton in December; had no obvious excuse when fifth, beaten 5 1/4l off 76 last time and 1lb lower here; effective around 8/9f; bounce back needed and the mark looks high. Held since winning at Wolverhampton in December; 1-1 at Class 5 level; worth a second look. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (40/1 -150%)Far And Above |
40/1(-150%) | (9) Far And Above 40/1, Never threatened and was comfortably held in a novice here last time; off a short break; effective at 8f; may have more to offer now handicapping. Makes his handicap debut after three months off and worth a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (17/2 +29%)Cephalus |
17/2(+29%) | (4) Cephalus 17/2, Ran to form when beaten 5l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; suited by 8f and acts best on AW; the mark looks stiff enough. 3-6 over C&D and 3lb lower than when taking this race last year; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (17/2 -42%)Forest Caper |
17/2(-42%) | (10) Forest Caper 17/2, Bit free back up in trip and caught late but ran to form when beaten a length off this mark at Newcastle last time; effective over 7-10f; consistent maiden who should be thereabouts once more. 0-18 but has shown ability; return to this trip not a problem and holds each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (125/1 -346%)Mckenna |
125/1(-346%) | (8) Mckenna 125/1, Below form down in trip after a wind operation when down the field in a handicap at Kempton most recently; this is his second run after a wind op; effective at 7/8f; plenty to prove back up in trip. Three starts since returning for this yard in October have been blowouts; watch market. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

STUDIOUS lost nothing in defeat when second to the highly progressive Aisling Oscar over C&D and a similar effort from Mark Loughnane's charge could see him go one better, despite a 2lb rise. A winner here in December, Hale End arrives in fine fettle and another good account seems assured, while Mr Nugget has been in fine form at Wolverhampton and is worthy of consideration in an open contest.

It may be worth siding with CEPHALUS who is 3-6 over C&D and has dropped 3lb lower than when winning this race last year.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (13/8 +46%)Stacey Racey |
13/8(+46%) | (7) Stacey Racey 13/8, Ran to form and did best of those up with a strong pace when second, beaten 2 1/2l, in a classified race at Lingfield latest; trainer in form; effective at 7/8f with all best form on all-weather; generally consistent. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (10/3 -21%)American Rose |
10/3(-21%) | (1) American Rose 10/3, Ran to form when beaten 1l into third in a classified race at Lingfield on her most recent run; effective at 7/8f and on all-weather; can go well again. Placed in all three starts at this level, twice finishing runner-up over C&D last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

American Rose has been thereabouts in all three starts in classified races so far, including a narrow defeat here. However, RING OF GOLD just failed to catch the winner at Newcastle last month and, having landed a couple of handicaps on the Tapeta last autumn, the son of Havana Gold could prove the one to side with. Stacey Racey showed a bit more in this grade at Lingfield recently and is not totally discounted.

The vote goes to STACEY RACEY who chased home a subsequent handicap winner in a similar contest to this at Lingfield last time.

3/1(+45%) | (7) Spirit Of Bowland 3/1, Ran to form when 5 1/2l third in a classified race at Newcastle on his most recent run; effective over 7-9f; interesting if building on his latest couple of starts. Creditable third in two 1m h'caps on last two starts; dual course winner; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (13/2 -8%)Laura's Breeze |

Well beaten in three AW novices; stable going well; needs to improve on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

HOMER STOKES has tumbled down the handicap, but bounced back to form when dropped into this lowly grade at Wolverhampton last time. Well clear of the rest when beaten only a neck in second, the eight-year-old is taken to regain the winning thread. Runner-up on his last couple of outings, Woodrafff is likely to prove competitive once again, while Laura's Breeze returns to 7f with a shout.

This can go to HOMER STOKES who has a good record here and ran well when a clear second at Wolverhampton last time.

Effective 5-8f; more consistent of late, mark fair and longer trip a plus. 1-17, but he has a consistent record at this level (33212); one for the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (11/1 -83%)Dubai Magic |
11/1(-83%) | (6) Dubai Magic 11/1, Improved on recent form when winning a classified race here by 1 1/4l last time. Effective at 5/6f and best on AW; in form, though a touch more is required back in a handicap. Good form in 0-50 classified company lately; a player if as effective back in a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (80/1 -60%)Alyara |
80/1(-60%) | (9) Alyara 80/1, Had every chance but found nil when beaten 7 1/4l in a classified race at Lingfield last time; had been in good form prior. Wide draw; effective at 7/8f and suited by AW; veteran now operates at a poor level and is erratic. Has won over 1m around here, but her strike-rate isn't great and she isn't easy to predict. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (12/1 -85%)Asadjumeirah |
12/1(-85%) | (4) Asadjumeirah 12/1, Ran to form when beaten a short-head off a 1lb lower mark at Newcastle last time; trainer in form. Effective at 6f and suited by AW; back in form, mark fair and run style requires luck. Another Newcastle regular, though he has twice finished runner-up over this C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (14/1 -87%)Dr Ali |
14/1(-87%) | (8) Dr Ali 14/1, Did his best work late and ran to form when landing a handicap by a neck off a 1lb lower mark at Kempton last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (28/1 -40%)Walking On Clouds |
28/1(-40%) | (3) Walking On Clouds 28/1, May not have stayed when well beaten in a handicap at Kempton last time. Best at 6f and acts on AW; a bounce back is needed. 6lb below last winning mark, but modest since returning for this yard in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (50/1 -25%)My Boy Jack |
50/1(-25%) | (10) My Boy Jack 50/1, Never threatened when beaten 7l in a classified race at Wolverhampton last time; wide draw. Suited by 6/7f; on a long losing run and in moderate form. Placed three times from eight starts over this C&D, but is on a losing run of 38. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Several last-time-out winners to consider, with Yorkshire Glory a player after staying on gamely at Newcastle. However, a 2lb nudge up the ratings does ask more of the five-year-old and FOREVER NOAH is slightly more compelling reverting to 6f. Joey Ramsden's gelding posted a good second under a 5lb penalty at Wolverhampton and a 2lb lower mark may see him back in the winner's enclosure. Kipp Kelly is next best.

The choice is YORKSHIRE GLORY (nap) whose latest Newcastle success was in a stronger race. He must have a fine chance of following up.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/3 -21%)Gundogan |
10/3(-21%) | (2) Gundogan 10/3, Had too much to do down in trip behind the all-the-way winner when beaten 3l off a 1lb higher mark at Chelmsford last time; wide draw. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (25/1 -39%)Spirited Dancer |
25/1(-39%) | (3) Spirited Dancer 25/1, Continued in poor form when beaten 10l in a handicap at Newcastle last time. Effective at 5/6f; has tumbled in the weights and has plenty to prove. Turf winner as 2yo; handicap career not yet amounted to much despite a falling mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

PIPERSTOWN supplemented a victory at Wolverhampton with two creditable efforts in defeat at that venue and his latest second behind a resurgent winner reads well. Racing off an unchanged mark, the five-year-old makes plenty of appeal and he's taken to repel chief threat Gundogan. Tony Carroll's inmate was poorly placed on his latest fourth at Chelmsford and he continues to ease in the ratings. Glendown may fare best of the remainder.

This can go to PIPERSTOWN who has remained in form against some tricky opposition since his January win at Wolverhampton.

1st (1) (4/5 -100%)Wicksey |
4/5(-100%) | (1) Wicksey 4/5, Improved up in trip when landing a handicap by 1 1/4l off a 5lb lower mark at Newcastle last time. Suited by 12f and acts on the all-weather; a big, strong sort with a good attitude. Could complete the hat trick. In good form since upped in trip in handicaps; has been found another uncompetitive race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (22/1 -10%)Crown Inn To Win |
22/1(-10%) | (4) Crown Inn To Win 22/1, Pulled too hard off a slow early pace and was well beaten in a handicap at Newcastle latest. Should be effective around 6-8f but looks limited on what has been shown so far. Pedigree encouraging as regards the longer trip, but still needs plenty of improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (13/2 +13%)Very Demure |
13/2(+13%) | (3) Very Demure 13/2, Tired late after making a lot of use of her when beaten 8l in a handicap at Newcastle last time. May stay 10f if ridden more conservatively and acts on the all-weather; may have bit more to offer. 8l behind Wicksey at Newcastle this month; 13lb better off but still has work to do. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/4 +63%)Corduroy |
9/4(+63%) | (2) Corduroy 9/4, Disappointing on handicap debut when down the field in a nursery at Bath most recently. Trainer in form and returning from a break; bred to stay and a probable improver now handicapping in a first-time tongue-tie. Returns from four months off having been gelded; this trip should suit better on pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (18/1 +0%)Jerseygeordie |
18/1(+0%) | (5) Jerseygeordie 18/1, Didn't obviously stay the longer trip when well beaten in a novice at Wolverhampton latest. Yet to show any real talent on the evidence of his runs to date. Hasn't beaten many in three starts; watch market upped in trip on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

WICKSEY had little difficulty in completing a Newcastle double and he's difficult to oppose. Ben Haslam's gelding scored with enough in hand to suggest that a 5lb higher mark won't halt his progress and his unbeaten record in handicaps can continue. Corduroy attracted some support on his handicap bow at Bath and a subsequent gelding procedure may see him in a better light, with Very Demure best of the rest.

This looks a good opportunity for WICKSEY who has been found another uncompetitive race in his hat-trick bid.

Rated 80, Hayynah sets the standard but she has failed to land the odds on three occasions now and AUTUMN AFFAIR looks the more progressive. The daughter of Kodiac found one too good when attempting to make all over 6f here on only her second start and this drop to the minimum trip looks a logical move. Mehmas Engine is a newcomer worthy of a second glance in the market.

This can go to HAYYNAH who may be suited by the drop to 5f having only just been caught over 6f at Newcastle last time.

ISLA BELLA's recent third at Wolverhampton can be upgraded as she failed to get a clear run. Joey Ramsden's filly looks worthy of another chance with normal luck in-running and she gets the vote. Lion Ring landed one of these events last time. However, the runner-up My Turn Now was beaten only a neck and the six-year-old may well improve past him.

Down in grade with a visor tried, dual C&D winner FORTUNATE STAR is beat Symbol Of Hope, who was an unlucky loser last week.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Successful at Kempton, Further Measure could shape well again raised only 2lb. He's preferred to Skycutter, who scored over 1m6f in a lower grade here last time, but KING'S CRUISER could prove too strong. Marco Botti's colt finished a creditable fourth when upped to this sort of distance at Wolverhampton for his handicap debut and looks one to keep on the right side of with plenty of scope for further improvement.

The vote goes to FURTHER MEASURE who is taken to enhance his good record over C&D (113).
Ths is the racecard key.
