14:15 Southwell (Class 5) 15f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Flash In The Park tends to perform quite well at Southwell and is now just 2lb higher than when successful over C&D in December. His subsequent couple of efforts haven't been great, though, whereas SEA THRIFT arrives at the top of her game after finding only one too strong when attempting to supplement a Plumpton triumph at Sedgefield. In fact, Daisy Hitchins' mare has been a model of consistency and progressive throughout the campaign and has struck up a good partnership with Robbie David. Hitchins' former inmate Model Approach has shown next to nothing since joining Evan Williams.

The highest points are awarded to SEA THRIFT, an in-form mare who should have her own way up front.

14:45 Southwell (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SMURFETTE went really close when returning from a lengthy spell on the sidelines at Uttoxeter on New Year's Eve, but couldn't build on that at Market Rasen. She was possibly feeling the effects of her comeback so is worth sticking with after another month to recover. Kayce Dutton was most disappointing when attempting to complete a Market Rasen double, but can't be written off just yet. Better is possible from Solar System now he tackles the larger obstacles for the first time.

Interesting chase debutant SOLAR SYSTEM (nap) has a strong record in this grade and gets the vote ahead of Lilting Verse.

15:15 Southwell (Class 5) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

JEFFERY'S CROSS had the misfortune to bump into a potential star of this division when left trailing in Barton Snow's wake at Ludlow. There was a worrying moment immediately after that race but, as long as he's fully recovered, Dan Skelton's 10-year-old can be rewarded for a string of fine efforts in defeat. Java Point made a successful beginning to his hunter chase career, also at Ludlow, and is officially rated 2lb superior to the selection so has to be feared. Camino Rocio is the pick of the other two.

On these terms JEFFERY'S CROSS has a good chance of doubling his tally in the hunter chase sphere. Java Point is the biggest threat.

15:45 Southwell (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A drop in distance didn't see Edith Pelham in her best light when finishing a well-beaten sixth at Market Rasen and the return to further should result in an improved display. She must enter calculations, but AFANCY GETAWAY rates as the most solid proposition. Ben Pauling's mare arrives on the back of a good second at Ludlow and a similar performance may prove sufficient. Amelia's Star and Shotgun Shirley are others of interest.

The vote goes to SHOTGUN SHIRLEY who, on breeding, appears likely to do better still. Afancy Getaway is second choice.

16:15 Southwell (Class 4) 15f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

TREAD CAREFULLY took a step forward when second over C&D and this looks a golden opportunity for him to open his account. An official rating of 116 suggests the five-year-old should take plenty of beating at this level, with the main danger forecast to come from Nice One Eric. Ben Pauling's inmate should find this easier than his two previous outings over timber and is open to improvement. Collanisi may fare best of the remainder.

Triple silver medallist TREAD CAREFULLY has his best chance of picking up a gold. Nice One Eric is second pick.

16:45 Southwell (Class 5) 15f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CLASSICAL STING's jumping has proved costly on his last two chase outings and a switch to timber looks a shrewd move. The six-year-old has a 4lb lower mark in this discipline, with the introduction of cheekpieces taken to sharpen him up. Lone Soldier is also reverting to the smaller obstacles and may give the selection most to think about, ahead of Steel Soldier, who arrives on the back of a decent third at Huntingdon.

The Skelton-trained BEORMA appears likely to improve and will be particularly interesting if the market speaks favourably.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
