4/1(+11%) | (1) Tam Lin 4/1, Bit wide but ran to form beaten a length off this mark at Lingfield last time; effective 7/8f, acts on AW, likes give; threat if building on recent efforts. Third at Lingfield (7f) on last two starts; should give his running once again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (25/1 -150%)Port Louis |
25/1(-150%) | (5) Port Louis 25/1, Step back in right direction on British debut when beaten 3 1/2l off a 1lb higher mark at Lingfield last time; effective 7/8f, acts on sound surface; form tailed off in Ireland but fair start on debut for this yard. Ran respectably on recent stable debut at Lingfield (7f); dangerous mark on turf best. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

TAM LIN has been running well in defeat at Lingfield and might be worth another chance under a 5lb claimer. He's performed well at this track before and the trip is fine too as his last win came over 7f at Chelmsford. Charlatan isn't without an each-way squeak but a bigger danger is Von Krolock after win and placed efforts at Wolverhampton.

River Wharfe and RAMBUSO CREEK both met trouble at Wolverhampton last month and may be seen to better effect today.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ARTANIS represents a yard in amongst the winners of late and it's easy to see why punters will latch onto this filly given her attractive profile. Going handicapping for the first time following a breakthrough victory in novice company at Wolverhampton, there should be a lot more to come and she gets the nod ahead of Loquella and Dagger Strike.

Dagger Strike should go well but George Boughey's handicap debutante ARTANIS may be the answer.

Ready 1m2f win at Lingfield last month; bred to stay well and open to plenty of progress. |

50/1(-567%) | (6) Galistra 50/1, Well fancied but didn't get home having raced near pace when well beaten in a maiden at Kempton only start; off a short-break; should stay at least 10f; can leave modest debut behind. Strong favourite but failed to fire in a Kempton fillies' maiden in January (1m3f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (400/1 -167%)My Dad Frank |
400/1(-167%) | (2) My Dad Frank 400/1, Modest enough debut when well beaten in a novice at Newcastle only start; probably wants middle-distances; type to do better once handicapping. Well-beaten 150-1 shot on debut last month (1m); huge leap forward required for new trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Karl Burke is no stranger to readying one for a debut victory and the well-bred Ravenspire must be respected as a result. Experience can win the day, though, and INTO THE LIGHT can successfully shoulder a penalty for his success at Lingfield. Everything seemed to go wrong at the beginning of the race before the penny dropped late on and he was quite taking. Starship Trooper is next best.

Starship Trooper should improve for this trip but so can INTO THE LIGHT and he is selected to defy his penalty.

(1) (5/2 +9%)Rockin' The Boat |
5/2(+9%) | (1) Rockin' The Boat 5/2, Ran to form when beaten 3 1/4l off a 1lb higher mark at Ascot last time; effective 7/8f on sound surface; chance if ready to roll as still has potential. 0-6 but promise in three handicap runs last year; down in grade; still capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (3/1 +25%)Penelope Valentine |
3/1(+25%) | (4) Penelope Valentine 3/1, Not best of runs, should have finished closer when down the field at Lingfield latest; effective 7-9f, acts on good to soft, good to firm and AW; step back up in trip a plus. Two wins this winter but she is climbing the weights; needs a career best to take this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (9/1 -29%)Cancelled |
9/1(-29%) | (2) Cancelled 9/1, Step back in right direction when beaten 2 1/4l off this mark at Wolverhampton last time; off a short-break; effective at 10/11f, acts on sound surface; still bit high in weights. Promising return from a break at Wolverhampton in December; drops in trip; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (11/1 -100%)Safe Idea |
11/1(-100%) | (5) Safe Idea 11/1, Made plenty of use of up in trip when beaten 3 1/4l in a maiden at Wolverhampton last time; effective 8-9f, acts on AW; small but consistent and drop in trip may help. Consistent rather than progressive thus far; makes handicap debut off a fair mark though. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

DREAM ILLUSION has filled second place on both starts since racking up a double earlier in the year and could return to winning ways in a race of this nature. Penelope Valentine wasn't beaten far, despite finishing ninth, at Lingfield last time and that followed a Wolverhampton success. On that evidence, she could be the main danger ahead of Rockin' The Boat.

Rockin' The Boat is respected on her AW debut but DREAM ILLUSION has had excuses since her two wins and she can resume her progress.

7/1(-8%) | (6) Piperstown 7/1, Ran to form when fifth beaten 2l off 53 last time, 1lb lower here; effective 5/6f, best on AW; in form, respected off this mark. Running well this year but finished behind Gundogan over C&D last month & may do so again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (17/2 -89%)Faster Bee |
17/2(-89%) | (4) Faster Bee 17/2, Ran to form under a penalty when second beaten a head off 50 last time, 3lb higher here; suited by 7-9f, acts on soft, good and AW; drop in trip worth exploring. In good form over 7f last month but up in weights and drawn wide now back down to 6f. |

10/1(-11%) | (7) Up The Monk 10/1, Ran to form beaten 1 1/4l off this mark here last time; top course trainer; effective 6/7f, all worthwhile runs on AW; capable off this mark. Won a Chelmsford classified in January; close 4th over C&D latest; needs more to win here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (12/1 -9%)Beneficiary |
12/1(-9%) | (9) Beneficiary 12/1, Stopped quickly, below form beaten 4 1/4l in a classified race at Newcastle last time; in good form prior; effective 5/6f, acts on good and AW; chance if bouncing back. Form dipped last time but earlier 6f seconds give him claims; edging back up the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (16/1 -256%)Henry Tudor |
16/1(-256%) | (5) Henry Tudor 16/1, Improved to get off the mark when winning a classified race at Chelmsford by 2 1/4l last time; effective at 6/7f on AW; more to come at this trip. Landed a touch at Chelmsford (0-50 classified) in good style two weeks ago; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (20/1 +0%)Haziym |
20/1(+0%) | (3) Haziym 20/1, Never in it after a slow start when down the field in a handicap at Wolverhampton most recent; hood first time; effective at 6f, acts on sound surface; regressive since move from France. 0-22 in Britain and this habitual slow-starter comes with risks attached. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (66/1 -65%)Queen For Adaay |
66/1(-65%) | (10) Queen For Adaay 66/1, Well below form beaten 9l in a handicap at Newcastle last time; usually held up; off a short-break; effective 6f, acts on AW; maiden and not one to rely on. Modest maiden but one Newcastle run heightens interest; low-key return in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (66/1 -65%)Coast |
66/1(-65%) | (11) Coast 66/1, Again below form beaten 6l in a classified race at Wolverhampton last time; enjoys making it; effective 6f on sound surface; regressive. Front-runner; well short of her best this winter; others bring more pressing claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

ELVETHAM got off the mark over 6f at Kempton a week ago and the four-year-old merits the utmost respect once again given that he does not have to carry a penalty for that success. Faster Bee is likely to be in the mix once again following his narrow second at Wolverhampton last time, while Gundogan and Up The Monk are others with valid form claims.

This may set up for a finisher and GUNDOGAN is preferred to Henry Tudor, Piperstown and Elvetham.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (7/2 +30%)Havachoc |
7/2(+30%) | (8) Havachoc 7/2, Just about to form off new mark when fourth at Southwell latest; effective 10-14f, acts on good to soft, good and AW; can go well but might need more to win off this mark. Didn't seem to have any excuses latest; now has to prove his revised rating within reach. |

9/2(+10%) | (5) Velvet Red 9/2, Failed to pick up, below form when eighth beaten 7l off 61 last time, same mark here; effective at 11f on AW; bounce back needed. Not best served by sitting off a steady pace here last time; remains lightly raced. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (66/1 -164%)Charlie Darling |
66/1(-164%) | (6) Charlie Darling 66/1, Bit keen, needed run beaten 7l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; effective 12-19f on yielding and good; should come on for return. Did his winning, and most racing, in Ireland over further; can do better. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

TENADAAY relished the return to the level when going in by over two lengths in this class at Wolverhampton in January and a 5lb rise might underestimate the level of authority he showed that day. With a similar performance, he will prove a tough nut to crack. Havachoc failed in his bid for a four-timer when fourth at this course last time, but he has to be taken seriously. Velvet Red looks best of the rest.

There may be more to come from TENADAAY under these conditions and he can defy a 5lb rise. Velvet Red is second choice.

11/1(-175%) | (6) Bee My Honey 11/1, Best run to date on second start after a break when winning a maiden at Chelmsford by 3 1/4l last time; effective 6/7f, acts on heavy and AW; more to come back handicapping with mark left alone. Easy maiden win latest but this will pose a very different test; still has low mileage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (12/1 +14%)Thankuappreciate |
12/1(+14%) | (7) Thankuappreciate 12/1, Ran to form up in trip third beaten 3 1/4l off 71 last time, same mark here; effective 5-7f, acts on any; in form and can go well again. Arrives in good form but he did have a good position when only 3rd off this mark last time. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GOLDMOYNE and Packetofbiscuits are both seeking hat-tricks, but the former makes most appeal after his Newcastle triumph on Friday. James Owen's charge made every yard of the running on that occasion and it would be no surprise to see him repeat that feat. Bee My Honey shed her maiden tag at Chelmsford on her most recent start and commands respect on just her second appearance in handicap company.

Better is expected from Bajan Bandit today but PACKETOFBISCUITS (nap) is thriving and can complete a quick C&D hat-trick.
Ths is the racecard key.
