50/1(-257%) | (4) Silken Bay 50/1, Too free early well beaten in a maiden at Wolverhampton only start; hood first time; give will suit on turf; should improve if settles but this looks a big ask. May settle better and show improvement with hood now fitted. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (17/2 -6%)Romance Spirit |
17/2(-6%) | (3) Romance Spirit 17/2, Sold for 52,000 euros as a yearling; filly by high-class miler Teofilo; dam unraced; probably effective 1m; top jockey booked; market can guide. 52,000euros yearling; siblings include US AW winner; attractively bred. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (16/1 -100%)Vitality |
16/1(-100%) | (5) Vitality 16/1, Sold for 48,000 guineas as a yearling; filly by top-class middle-distance performer New Bay; half-sister to Persuasion, very smart at 7f; dam very useful middle-distance performer Effervesce; probably effective 1m; market should reveal more. 48,000gns yearling; New Bay half-sister to six winners; market helpful. |

4th (1) (11/4 +17%)Hot Silk |
11/4(+17%) | (1) Hot Silk 11/4, Showed minor promise on debut beaten 4 1/4l in a maiden at Yarmouth on debut; exceptionally well bred; sets the standard on form; big player if fit. 50-1 but showed some promise with sixth of ten at Yarmouth; the form pick. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (1/2 +0%)Zeriya |
1/2(+0%) | (6) Zeriya 1/2, Sold for 480,000 guineas as a yearling; filly by top-class miler Too Darn Hot; half-sister to a multiple Group 3 winner; probably effective 1m; likely type. 480,000gns yearling; by Too Darn Hot and from a smart family; respected newcomer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Palace Artois and Silken Bay have recent runs under their belts, but neither gets the pulse racing and ZERIYA is taken to make an immediate return on a big investment. A half-sister to a dual Group 3 winner in Australia, the daughter of Too Darn Hot is from the family of Zarak and Zarkava so it's no surprise she cost 480,000gns as a yearling. Fellow newcomers Vitality and Romance Spirit make some appeal, but Hot Silk showed ability at Yarmouth last autumn and is put forward as the primary danger.

Hot Silk sets a standard that is far from daunting. ZERIYA is a particularly interesting type among the newcomers.

18/1(-13%) | (6) King's Crown 18/1, Outpaced early, bit below form beaten 3 1/4l off a 1lb higher mark at Newcastle last time; off a short-break; effective 5/6f, acts on soft, good to firm and AW; generally consistent, may need to come down a couple more lbs. ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (66/1 -313%)Palmarian |
66/1(-313%) | (8) Palmarian 66/1, Yard won this last year; poorly placed having missed the break down the field in a handicap at Yarmouth most recent; wide draw; effective at 7f on good to soft; plenty to prove for new yard. Beaten fav in 3 of 6 runs for the Gosdens; sold 16,000gns since latest; back down in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

First or second in his last six appearances, HUNDRED CAPS is developing into a useful sprinter and was beaten by a rival on a hat-trick at Kempton. He was successful on his only previous outing at this venue and can continue on his upward curve. Mr Lightside was three and a half lengths behind him at Kempton, but improved to finish third at Wolverhampton and could be dangerous. Way To Dubai is rarely too far away, while Stanley Spencer will appreciate the drop in class.

A trappy race in which the return of cheekpieces could see CAJETAN resume winning ways. Hundred Caps is feared most.

Record of 3-7 in handicaps; ran creditably last time; in the mix. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (9/2 +0%)Tewkesbury |
9/2(+0%) | (2) Tewkesbury 9/2, Finished best as if stronger pace or further would have suited beaten a head off a 2lb lower mark at Chelmsford last time; effective at 8/9f, may get 10f ridden with restraint, acts on AW; still open to improvement. Has somewhat regressed since winning at Lingfield in first-time blinkers. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (20/1 -67%)Boy Named Sioux |
20/1(-67%) | (4) Boy Named Sioux 20/1, Bit free in first time hood, below form beaten 7 1/4l in a nursery at Newcastle last time; in good form prior; returning from a break; effective 5-7f on AW; bit more needed to defy revised mark. Returns to the scene of his win but needs to settle better upped in distance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

FOLK PAGEANT chased home the high-class Half Sovereign on debut last summer and wasn't seen again until justifying favouritism at Lingfield four weeks ago. She prevailed by less than a length, but appeared to have more in the tank and should take a step forward. An initial mark of 72 certainly looks workable, although Haddiah and On The Inlet also have tempting opening figures. Tewkesbury just failed on his own handicap bow, while Hardstyle and What's The Plan are a couple more to consider in a competitive affair.

The best-handicapped contender could well be FOLK PAGEANT. Second choice is Tewkesbury.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(13) (28/1 -155%)Master Zack |
28/1(-155%) | (13) Master Zack 28/1, Far too free, did too much too soon, needed run well beaten in a handicap at Chelmsford latest; wide draw; effective at 5f, acts on soft, good to firm and AW; form has tailed off. 28/1(-133%) | (4) Jeany May 28/1, Struggled to get involved beaten 8l in a handicap at Redcar last time; wide draw; effective 5f, acts on AW; in moderate form. Ran well fresh last spring and she's fully effective over C&D; returns on a dangerous mark. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

This is competitive for the grade and the likes of old rivals Little Mi Mi, Fortunate Star and Okami are all capable of being on the premises. Colors Of Freedom and Auntie Jo also command respect, but a chance is taken on ISLA BELLA building on a near-miss at Wolverhampton last week. That was her first try with cheekpieces added and the Joey Ramsden-trained filly could represent good value with another step forward.

Numerous possibilities but Opal Storm and AUNTIE JO top the shortlist. The selection impressed in this headgear last month.

10/11(+17%) | (1) Espanita 10/11, Ran to form when winning a maiden at Wolverhampton by 2l last time; that form franked; effective 7f but should stay 10f, acts on AW; reliable sort looks to have been let off lightly for handicap debut. Second & first in two 7f runs this year; open to improvement and she's a strong candidate. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (7/2 +13%)Polka Blue |
7/2(+13%) | (2) Polka Blue 7/2, Bit too free on softer surface when fourth beaten 2 1/4l in a novice at Leicester latest; effective 6/7f, acts on AW; fair mark on novice form but may just need this. Third over C&D in her one run at 7f; makes her handicap debut at a realistic level; chance. |

14/1(-17%) | (3) Homestrait 14/1, Too keen after interference well beaten in a seller at Musselburgh latest; effective 7f, acts on good to soft and good to firm; had been steadily progressing but likely flattered by selling form. Two 7f wins as a 2yo but ended 2025 with two heavy defeats; vulnerable to improvers. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (22/1 -57%)Everydaysasaturday |
22/1(-57%) | (7) Everydaysasaturday 22/1, Outpaced, never threatened, needed run beaten 6l in a handicap at Newcastle last time; effective 6f; should come on for latest but needs to. Modest form in five starts, including recent handicap debut; now moves up in trip. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (22/1 -214%)Tekitoff |
22/1(-214%) | (6) Tekitoff 22/1, Better surface suited and improved markedly when fourth beaten 3 1/4l in a maiden at Newcastle latest; effective 7f, acts on AW; has probably found level but looks a threat on handicap debut. Improved on stable/AW debut when 4th last month but was well positioned in slowly run race. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ESPANITA is the least exposed contender and could be well placed to make a successful handicap debut. After readily landing a maiden at Wolverhampton, Charlie Johnston's filly looks a decent enough prospect to hold sway again at this level. Polka Blue is entitled to be on the premises based on what she has achieved in novice company, while Homestrait has faced stiffer tests and shouldn't be underestimated.

The form of ESPANITA's Wolverhampton win has been franked and she can defy a modest opening mark. Keep An Eye On It is feared most.

Won at Chelmsford in most recent AW attempt and may be capable of further progress. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (7/1 -40%)Bruce Banner |
7/1(-40%) | (7) Bruce Banner 7/1, Bit free lit up by first time visor, back to form beaten 1 1/2l off this mark at Newcastle last time; effective 12f, all worthwhile form on AW; should come on for latest run, danger if settling. Place possibilities in the retained visor, provided he's as effective back up in trip. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (16/1 -33%)Payment Plan |
16/1(-33%) | (5) Payment Plan 16/1, Made too much use of comfortably held in a handicap at Nottingham last time; returning from long layoff; effective 2m, suited by AW; below last winning mark but likely to need this. Absent since last May but looks interesting back here, being 2-2 over C&D. |

66/1(-164%) | (6) Charlie Darling 66/1, Did too much too soon, possible bounce well beaten in a handicap here latest; effective 12-19f on yielding and good; fair mark on old Irish form but must bounce back. Ex-Irish 6yo who is not solid on his two efforts for new stable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A Chelmsford winner in January, ROGUE JUSTICE then struggled over timber but reverts to the level in a very winnable race. With blinkers added, it would be no surprise to see the son of Calyx break more sharply than he has done in the past and the booking of Rossa Ryan suggests connections mean business. That is not to suggest this will be all one-way traffic and the likes of A Mere Bagatelle, Zephlyn and Captain Robert merit betting checks.

Low-mileage 4yo CAPTAIN ROBERT (nap) has particularly solid claims on form and is first choice ahead of Zephlyn.

33/1(-408%) | (8) Theophilos 33/1, Ran to form when second beaten 1/2l in a claimer at Dundalk latest; returning from a break; effective 9-12f, acts on AW; signs of better last twice, threat if building on that on stable debut. Ex-Irish 7yo who brings a long losing spell to this debut for new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Latin responded well to a first-time hood to win at Lingfield and it is a logical step for him to try and follow up under a 5lb penalty. However, this is a deeper race and he looks vulnerable on these terms. Preference is for HACKNEY DIAMONDS, who is already a dual course winner and has been given a big chance by the handicapper. Having won off 72 at his peak, a current mark of 59 is too tempting to ignore. Theophilos and Solanna complete the shortlist.

With improvement possible in this second start for Charlie Pike, WOOD WHISPERER is the suggestion. Phaedra is second choice.
Ths is the racecard key.
