1st (9) (11/1 +21%)Juno Star |
11/1(+21%) | (9) Juno Star 11/1, Ran to form when beaten 2 1/4l off 50 at Brighton last time. Effective at 5f-6f on all-weather and a generally consistent but frustrating maiden. Remains a maiden but another competitive show when second at Brighton last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (12/1 -85%)Nelson Gay |
12/1(-85%) | (1) Nelson Gay 12/1, Travelled well and may have hit the front too soon when beaten 2l off 60 here last time. Suited by 5f, acts on all-weather, and looks fairly treated if building on his recent revival. In front 2f out but didn't quite get home when third here last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (6/1 -20%)Arlington |
6/1(-20%) | (6) Arlington 6/1, Quickened to return to form, making the most of a plum draw to win a handicap by a length off 50 here last time. Likes to race prominently and goes well on all-weather at 5/6f. Likes to lead and stayed in front over C&D earlier this month; 4lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (10/1 -82%)Beaumadier |
10/1(-82%) | (3) Beaumadier 10/1, Scored by 1 1/4l off 55 at Musselburgh on his penultimate start and ran to form when third, beaten 3 1/2l off 60 last time. Has a wide draw but remains on a workable mark and goes well at 5f on all-weather. High enough in the weights and drawn wide, but arrives in form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (85/40 +39%)Dandy Fitz |
85/40(+39%) | (7) Dandy Fitz 85/40, Returned to form when beaten 3/4l off 51 at Newcastle last time. Suited by 5f and acts on all-weather; generally a consistent type though his strike rate is modest. Turf/AW winner who fared best of those who were handy when close up at Newcastle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (4/1 +60%)Rogue De Vega |
4/1(+60%) | (8) Rogue De Vega 4/1, Outpaced and never threatened when beaten 3 1/4l off 51 at Newcastle last time. Suited by 5f on sound or firm surfaces but his recent form has declined. Slipped down the weights and found a bit of bother when never dangerous at Newcastle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (9/1 -64%)Muma Myflo |
9/1(-64%) | (5) Muma Myflo 9/1, Too free when beaten 6l in a 6f handicap at Yarmouth last time. Effective at 5-6f and needs to bounce back after a couple of below-par runs. Only sixth when favourite at Yarmouth but that was again over 6f and perhaps 5f suits best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (6/1 -9%)Papa Don't Preach |
6/1(-9%) | (2) Papa Don't Preach 6/1, Ran to form when beaten 1/2l off 60 at Pontefract last time from a wide draw. Effective at 5-6f and handles all-weather; in form but proving a little frustrating. Rare winner but back from three months off when going close at Pontefract (5f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (80/1 -344%)Kodibeat |
80/1(-344%) | (4) Kodibeat 80/1, Needed the run when beaten 5l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time. Effective at 5f on all-weather but has been out of form in both starts this year. Regressed since her successful debut for the Coles; 28-1 and quiet on recent yard debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Papa Don't Preach is capable at this level but can be a tricky ride and isn't one for maximum faith. Neither is Nelson Gay, who also boasts more placed efforts than career wins and isn't one for the faint-hearted. However, it's possible that the competitively-weighted DANDY FITZ can build on an improved effort when third at Newcastle last time. He shades the nomination with a speculative vote. Arlington is also feared but faces competition for the lead and might struggle to supplement his last-time-out C&D win.

With a strong pace likely this might set up ideally for NELSON GAY who perhaps found himself in front too early here last time.

(1) (15/8 +32%)Fiery Damsel |
15/8(+32%) | (1) Fiery Damsel 15/8, Quickened clear cosily and improved for the debut experience when winning a novice at Kempton by 1 1/4l last time; effective at 6f and may stay a bit further; progressing. Incurs penalty for Kempton win but Jack Callan takes off a useful 5lb; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

2/1(+20%) | (3) Cryingintherain 2/1, 6 Apr; £150,000 breeze-up purchase by Havana Grey; half-sister to Mystical Music, smart at 7f; dam very useful at 6f. Refused to enter stalls on intended debut (odds-on shot at the time of withdrawal). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (5/1 +64%)Zooella |
5/1(+64%) | (11) Zooella 5/1, Green early but showed minor promise on debut when third, beaten 5 1/4l in a novice at Kempton; effective at 6f on the all-weather and should progress a little. Lived up to market expectations (outsider of three) in Kempton contest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (5/1 +0%)Bintola |
5/1(+0%) | (2) Bintola 5/1, Improved from debut but had too much to do after missing the break when second, beaten 3l in a novice at Kempton latest; effective at 6f and bred for 8-10f; improving. Ran well at Kempton last time and could take another step forward; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (12/1 -33%)Yy Spirit |
12/1(-33%) | (10) Yy Spirit 12/1, Too free when fourth, beaten 8l in a novice over 7f at Newcastle latest; effective at 7f on the all-weather with speed in the pedigree, so 6f may yet suit. Debut form suggests she's a possible danger if this drop in distance suits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (18/1 -13%)Hello It's Me |
18/1(-13%) | (5) Hello It's Me 18/1, Did plenty early and did not find much, comfortably held in a novice over 5f at Nottingham last time; bred to be suited by 6-8f; likeable type who could bounce back. Some promise on debut but disappointing last time; not sure what to expect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (18/1 -100%)Ghadra |
18/1(-100%) | (4) Ghadra 18/1, 9 May; 85,000gns Invincible Spirit filly; full-sister to Princess Olly, very useful at 8f; dam smart at 10f; tough enough task on debut. 85,000gns yearling; by Invincible Spirit; notable connections; check the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (28/1 -27%)Pennine Way |
28/1(-27%) | (6) Pennine Way 28/1, 8 Mar; Aclaim filly; half-sister to Mezcala, very useful at 8f; dam useful at 8f; looks an unlikely winner on debut. From a family that her connections know well; heed the market signals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (50/1 -213%)Slot |
50/1(-213%) | (8) Slot 50/1, Improved from debut though flattened out up in trip after a big move to finish 2 1/2l third in a maiden at Newcastle on her most recent run; effective at 5f on the all-weather, pedigree all speed but may get 6f. Has place possibilities but likely needs progress to get off the mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (125/1 -279%)Sunlit Sea |
125/1(-279%) | (9) Sunlit Sea 125/1, Did not travel and was green on a poor debut when well beaten in a novice at Chelmsford on her only start; yard's horses tend to need more time. Never figured at Chelmsford; one for handicaps later on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (250/1 -658%)Queen Sana |
250/1(-658%) | (7) Queen Sana 250/1, 4 May; Ardad filly; half-sister to Ararat, very useful at 7f; inexperienced jockey booked. Newcomer who looks less interesting than stablemate Cryingintherain. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Fiery Damsel took a step forward from her debut effort to get off the mark at Kempton last month and holds an obvious chance. However, she might find it tough to give her penalty away to BINTOLA. Harry Charlton's juvenile produced an improved display when occupying the runner-up berth at the same venue latest and, with normal improvement, she will prove hard to beat. Any market confidence behind newcomer Cryingintherain would be interesting.

Kempton scorer FIERY DAMSEL is the form pick, while Cryingintherain is an interesting newcomer, assuming she consents to load.

(2) (11/4 +8%)Mamma Maria |
11/4(+8%) | (2) Mamma Maria 11/4, Won by a neck off 65 at Ffos Las in August; had too much to do after meeting trouble when second beaten 1 1/2l off 69 last time; trainer in form; effective at 7-8f, acts on soft, good and all-weather; consistent. Solid second on the Chelmsford AW last time and this track could suit her better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (16/5 +54%)Ghaiyyath Park |
16/5(+54%) | (7) Ghaiyyath Park 16/5, Ran to form when beaten 5l in a 3yo race over 10f at Dresden last time; effective 9-11f; consistent performer in Germany and her mark looks fair for this stable debut. A bit of an unknown quantity on British/handicap debut and needs a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (7/1 +13%)Grey Phoenix |
7/1(+13%) | (5) Grey Phoenix 7/1, No obvious excuse when comfortably held in a handicap at Nottingham last time; in good form prior; effective at 1m, acts on all-weather; mark looks stiff enough. Disappointing on turf last week but she could be better on the AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (15/2 +6%)Midsummer Music |
15/2(+6%) | (4) Midsummer Music 15/2, Scored by 1 1/4l off 63 at Chepstow on her penultimate start; ran to form when fourth beaten 3l off 65 last time; effective at 7-8f on a sound surface and currently in form. Found wanting at this level when behind Live Each Day at Kempton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (17/2 -143%)Live Each Day |
17/2(-143%) | (6) Live Each Day 17/2, Ran to form when landing a handicap by 2l off 62 at Kempton last time; effective 7f-10f, acts on all-weather; in good form though revised mark demands more. Course winner; came from last to first at Kempton a month ago; raised 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (17/2 +6%)Liberty Bird |
17/2(+6%) | (11) Liberty Bird 17/2, No obvious excuse when well beaten in a handicap over 9f at Wolverhampton latest; effective 7-10f, acts on all-weather; mark is easing but recent form has been inconsistent. Form to feature off this mark but a hard filly to predict and ran no race five days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (14/1 -40%)Zariela |
14/1(-40%) | (1) Zariela 14/1, Below form when beaten 6 1/2l in a handicap over 7f at Newmarket (July) last time; off a short break; suited by 1m and a sound surface; just one decent effort in her last four starts. First and second in 1m handicaps this season; capable of being involved back at 1m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (16/1 +0%)Calaxy |
16/1(+0%) | (9) Calaxy 16/1, Stepped up in trip but possibly failed to stay when finishing down the field in a handicap over 11f at Windsor most recently; off a short break; effective at 7f on all-weather; has yet to prove she retains her ability. Course maiden winner but has finished right out the back in three handicaps this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (20/1 -67%)Geo |
20/1(-67%) | (3) Geo 20/1, Had every chance but finished below form when beaten 5l in a handicap at Newbury last time; off a short break; effective at 7f but yet to fully convince with stamina for further. Best form was the Newbury nursery win over 7f since when she's gone 0-6. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (20/1 +0%)Salve Electra |
20/1(+0%) | (10) Salve Electra 20/1, May not have stayed when beaten 8l in a handicap over 10f at Chelmsford last time; suited by 1m, only worthwhile form on good ground; bit to prove. Hasn't kicked on in handicaps, especially modest the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (25/1 -25%)Biplane |
25/1(-25%) | (8) Biplane 25/1, Found little and was well beaten in a handicap at Thirsk latest; in good form prior; off a short break; effective 6-8f on sound surface; back below last winning mark but largely in poor form. Never figured on turf last time (1m) but wasn't far away over 7f here the time before. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

LIVE EACH DAY made her way through the field to score by just under two lengths at Kempton latest and is just 5lb higher. Considering the manner of that success, the daughter of Persian King looks the one to beat. Ghaiyyath Park makes some appeal on her first start for the James Tate stable after showing a fair amount of ability in Germany, while Mamma Maria is another to keep an eye on.

Perhaps unlucky not to be a dual winner on turf, MAMMA MARIA ran a solid race at Chelmsford last time and this track could suit better.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (85/40 -70%)Quamby |

Close second, behind subsequent Listed scorer, at Windsor when last seen; the form pick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (7/2 +46%)Jazzy Baby |
7/2(+46%) | (3) Jazzy Baby 7/2, Ran to form when second beaten 2 1/2l in a novice at Kempton last time; effective at 1m on the all-weather; in form and already professional. Has belied her big odds in both outings; again has frame possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

14/1(-65%) | (4) Kurios Lady 14/1, Sergei Prokofiev filly; half-sister to Time Interval, a very useful 10f performer; dam also very useful at 11f. Sergei Prokofiev half-sister to two winners; check the betting. |

20/1(-67%) | (7) Shanty Baba 20/1, Saxon Warrior filly; half-sister to Skinny Malinka, a fair 10f performer; dam moderate at 8f as a 2yo; faces a tough enough task on debut. Saxon Warrior filly; descends from a 1,000 Guineas winner; market informative. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

33/1(-65%) | (6) Radiant Jewel 33/1, Green and showed little on a poor debut, well beaten in a novice at Pontefract on her only start; trainer in form; returning from a break; well bred with a Listed-winning dam for this yard but may need more time. Trailed home last of six at Pontefract in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (50/1 -127%)To Be Honest |
50/1(-127%) | (9) To Be Honest 50/1, Green but improved a little for debut experience when beaten 5l in a novice over 10f at Nottingham last time; off a short break; drop to 1m should suit and may be one for handicaps. Plenty to find on her turf efforts over 7f/1m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (150/1 -88%)Ohana |
150/1(-88%) | (1) Ohana 150/1, Nathaniel filly; wears a hood for the first time; yard's horses tend to need more time. 7,000gns foal; wears hood; likely best watched on belated debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Al Durry has finished thereabouts on both starts so far, including when second over this trip at Chelmsford in May, and she is likely to be on the premises. However, QUAMBY only found subsequent Listed scorer Victoria Harbour too good on her sole outing this year and could have more to offer. David Simcock's filly sets the standard with an official rating of 81 and is tough to oppose. Too Farhh Gone can fight it out for the minor honours.

Judged on her solid effort behind a useful sort, QUAMBY is the form choice. Al Durry is feared most.

(8) (3/1 +60%)Riyadh Gem |
3/1(+60%) | (8) Riyadh Gem 3/1, Bit too free in front but ran to form when beaten 2l off 71 at Kempton last time, wearing blinkers for the first time. Effective over 8-10f on a sound surface; on a winning mark and back in form. C&D winner; not far off his best on last two starts; prominent racer; new headgear today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (3/1 +14%)Saytarr |
3/1(+14%) | (6) Saytarr 3/1, Scored by a nose off 70 at Kempton on his penultimate start but ran below form up in grade back on turf when sixth, beaten 11l off 73 last time. Eight-race maiden but has shown promise at up to 1m2f; bred to handle AW well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (13/2 +28%)Alessia Fernanda |
13/2(+28%) | (3) Alessia Fernanda 13/2, Ran to current form when beaten 3 1/2l off 73 here last time. Effective over 7-9f and probably acts on any surface; has lost form. Inconsistent but latest C&D fourth came in a higher grade; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (8/1 -129%)Knickerbocker |
8/1(-129%) | (7) Knickerbocker 8/1, Returned to form under a positive ride down in trip, showing a willing attitude when beaten a nose off 70 at Kempton last time. Effective over 8-10f on the all-weather; in form and looks fairly treated. Collared close home by Saytarr on handicap debut (1m) five weeks ago; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (14/1 -65%)Stratocracy |
14/1(-65%) | (1) Stratocracy 14/1, Made too much use of, set it up for closer when beaten 8l in a handicap over 7f at Wolverhampton last time. Effective over 7-8f on a sound surface; had been in fair form until the last couple of runs and looks on a stiff mark. C&D winner; chance on this year's best; contender with Rossa Ryan back on board. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (18/1 -80%)Bajan Bandit |
18/1(-80%) | (5) Bajan Bandit 18/1, Forced wide from a poor draw and disappointed after a wind operation, finishing down the field in a 7f Wolverhampton handicap most recently. Had been in good form prior; this is his second run after wind surgery. Suited by 7-8f and acts on any surface; mark is falling but form poor. Poor run at Wolverhampton latest (after a wind op); return to Southwell could help matters. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (25/1 -56%)Spec Of Light |
25/1(-56%) | (9) Spec Of Light 25/1, Outpaced and produced another poor effort on turf when down the field in a Nottingham handicap last time. Effective over 1m on the all-weather and unproven on turf; may need a forgiving surface to recapture form. C&D winner in March; struggled in two turf runs since; needs more despite returning to AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (28/1 -40%)Soames Forsyte |
28/1(-40%) | (4) Soames Forsyte 28/1, Scored by 3/4l off 68 at Nottingham three starts back but never threatened when ninth, beaten 12l off 72 last time. Usually held up; effective over 7-8f and acts on all-weather; has been in and out of form with a stiff-looking mark. No impact in two runs since a Nottingham success in July; usually slowly away; opposable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

KNICKERBOCKER battled on gamely but was just touched off into second behind Saytarr on handicap debut at Kempton last month and the assessor may have been kind to only put her up 2lb. With the likelihood of more to come, she could turn the tables on that rival. Alessia Fernanda outran her odds of 40-1 to finish fourth over C&D at the start of the month and has dropped to an appealing mark.

The switch to AW could see the well-bred FOREST CAPER break his duck at the ninth attempt. Unexposed Knickerbocker is feared most.

(2) (7/2 -56%)Counting Cards |
7/2(-56%) | (2) Counting Cards 7/2, Progressive when second beaten 3/4l in a novice over 6f at Pontefract last time. Returns from a long layoff and wears a tongue-tie for the first time; remains a progressive sort. Has shown promise but returns from 13-month absence; market helpful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (5/1 +38%)Straight A |
5/1(+38%) | (3) Straight A 5/1, Did plenty early and needed the run when well beaten in a handicap at Nottingham last time. From a top course trainer; effective from 7f to 8f on a sound surface and could build on that reappearance. Rebound would put him in the picture (placed several times off current mark). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (9/1 -64%)Tribal Wisdom |
9/1(-64%) | (6) Tribal Wisdom 9/1, Too much to do off a steady pace when beaten 1l off 70 at Beverley last time. Returns from a short break; suited by 10f, doesn't stay farther and unexposed at 1m in recent times; consistent performer. May find this sharp 1m inadequate but holds a fighting chance on form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (9/1 +0%)Roaring Twenties |
9/1(+0%) | (4) Roaring Twenties 9/1, Outpaced and met slight trouble before staying on, beaten 6 1/4l in a 7f handicap at York last time. Effective at 7f and acts on a sound surface; open to improvement. Not disgraced in big field at York (handicap debut) last time; may do better. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Suited by 1m and very consistent, though the handicapper may now be in charge. Largely consistent turf form features a summer double; third attempt on AW. |

22/1(-144%) | (1) Top Of The Class 22/1, Weak in the betting and below form when fourth beaten 8l in a handicap at Windsor last time, up in grade. Returning from a break and suited by the all-weather; was in form until that latest run. Capable of being involved back on AW, albeit seems ideally suited by Kempton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (33/1 -32%)Eeetee |
33/1(-32%) | (9) Eeetee 33/1, Never threatened when beaten 5l in a handicap at Redcar last time. Suited by 1m and acts on the all-weather; has lost form. All wins on turf; AW record is far from solid. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The one who appeals most is the Edward Bethell-trained COUNTING CARDS. The son of Territories has been gelded/undergone a wind operation since last September and now makes his handicap debut up in distance. Coeur Jaune has struck twice on the turf this season and, if transferring that form to the all-weather, she could have a say. Tokyo Joe is unexposed over this trip and might also get involved.

Off an attractive mark returned to the scene of his peak effort, TOKYO JOE is particularly interesting. Koge is second pick.

10/3(+33%) | (5) Hoodie Hoo 10/3, Returned to form when beaten a head off 76 at Nottingham last time; wide draw. Suited by 6f and acts on the all-weather; looks fairly treated if building on that recent revival. Went close at Nottingham last time; record of 124 on AW; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (9/2 +36%)Valley Ofthe Kings |
9/2(+36%) | (2) Valley Ofthe Kings 9/2, Won a novice at Wolverhampton over 5f by a length last time. Effective from 5-7f on a sound surface and unexposed over sprint trips; could progress now he has his head in front, but a revised mark demands it. Took well to first-time blinkers in novice event most recently; may build on that win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (15/2 -25%)Mission Command |
15/2(-25%) | (6) Mission Command 15/2, Ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off 79 over 5f at Redcar last time. Effective over 5-6f and acts on the all-weather; the mark has eased but more will be needed. Frame possibilities, provided recent turf form is transferred to AW. |

8/1(-14%) | (9) Liosa 8/1, Ran to form when beaten 3l off 76 at Kempton last time. Effective over 6f and suited by the all-weather; in form, though the mark remains stiff enough. Largely consistent on AW; placed twice at Kempton since returned to this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (17/2 +6%)Pals Battalion |
17/2(+6%) | (1) Pals Battalion 17/2, Outpaced and never threatened when beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap at Haydock last time; wide draw. Effective over 6f and poor in his last three starts, but a return to the all-weather should suit. Record of 4-10 on AW; interesting returned to this sphere off a workable mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (10/1 +17%)Dark Side Thunder |
10/1(+17%) | (11) Dark Side Thunder 10/1, Ran to form when beaten 2 1/2l off 72 here last time; trainer in form. Effective over 6-7f and acts on the all-weather; consistent and on his last winning mark. Four-time C&D winner; respectable fifth back here last time; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

12/1(0%) | (12) Lesley's Boy 12/1, Had too much to do after missing the break when beaten 2l off 72 here last time. Effective over 6f; yet to add to his 2yo wins and remains inconsistent. Made the frame in C&D contest last time and is still unexposed on AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (12/1 +40%)Top Juggler |
12/1(+40%) | (7) Top Juggler 12/1, Scored by a head off 75 at Carlisle on his penultimate start; outclassed up in grade when 22nd beaten 22l off 80 last time. Suited by 6f and reliable when in his grade, but the mark looks quite tough. Won on debut for new yard and faced a stiffer task later in September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (12/1 -100%)Ararat |
12/1(-100%) | (8) Ararat 12/1, Overcame early keenness to return to form down in grade, landing a handicap by a neck off 74 here last time. Effective over 6-7f and acts on the all-weather; a fair mark if building on that recent revival. Resurgent in C&D event last time, taking record to 4-21; still well treated on peak form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (12/1 -50%)Baba Reza |
12/1(-50%) | (10) Baba Reza 12/1, Back to form down in grade when beaten 1 1/2l off 72 here last time. Effective over 6f and acts on the all-weather; unreliable but fairly treated if able to build on that recent revival. Ran encouragingly over C&D returned to AW last time; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (16/1 -60%)Nazuki |
16/1(-60%) | (3) Nazuki 16/1, Returned to form but flattened out late up in trip having done plenty early, beaten 2l off 81 over 7f at Doncaster last time; wide draw. Off a short break and suited by 6f on the all-weather; can build on that effort back down in trip. Has form figures of 211 over C&D (novice events); may have more to offer back here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (66/1 -230%)Zero Carbon |
66/1(-230%) | (4) Zero Carbon 66/1, Forced wide at a sharp track and needed the run when beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap over 7f at Chester last time. Enjoys making the running and is effective over 6-7f, best on the all-weather; inconsistent but looks well handicapped. Return to AW looks a plus but he seems ideally suited by Kempton. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Two-time C&D winner NAZUKI made the frame over 7f at Doncaster in August and was kindly dropped 1lb. The booking of Jamie Spencer is noteworthy and the daughter of Earthlight could put these to the sword. Valley Ofthe Kings shed his maiden tag in first-time blinkers at Wolverhampton earlier this month and commands respect back in a handicap. Of the remainder, Hoodie Hoo makes the most appeal after his second at Nottingham.

Back over this C&D, low-mileage filly NAZUKI may be able to record a first handicap win. Ararat is second choice.

7/4(+0%) | (1) Moab 7/4, Improved up in trip to win a handicap by 4l off 57 over 1m6f here last time. Effective from 10f to 14f on the all-weather and should stay a bit further. Still well treated on maiden and jumps form, unexposed over staying distances. Won well enough over 1m6f here recently to earn this 7lb higher mark; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (5/2 +29%)Savvy Stellar |
5/2(+29%) | (4) Savvy Stellar 5/2, Ran to form up in trip to land a handicap by 1 1/4l off 55 here last time. Effective from 14f to 16f on the all-weather. Unexposed at 2m and showing steady improvement. Only three ran but he beat a Prescott improver with the pair clear over C&D a month ago. |

(5) (11/2 +8%)Advertorial |
11/2(+8%) | (5) Advertorial 11/2, Improved up in trip to land a handicap by a head off 47 over 1m6f at Wolverhampton last time. Trainer in form. Suited by 12-14f on the all-weather, in fair form and not fully exposed over staying distances. First run over 1m6f when winning at Wolverhampton latest; could be suited by this 2m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (18/1 -100%)Barafundle Bay |
18/1(-100%) | (2) Barafundle Bay 18/1, Returned to form when beaten 3 1/2l off 56 over 2m1f at Wolverhampton last time. Suited by 12f on the all-weather and unexposed at 2m. Runs off the same mark as when last successful. Third on recent stable debut (2m AW) when held up off a steady pace. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (28/1 -40%)Arcimboldo |
28/1(-40%) | (6) Arcimboldo 28/1, Appeared suited by the step up in trip when 4l third in a handicap at Newcastle last time. Effective at 2m on the all-weather but looks modest overall and needs to build on that latest effort. Questionable what he achieved when third of five off a steady pace at Newcastle. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

SAVVY STELLAR sprang a bit of a surprise when beating the well-fancied Night Tara over track and trip last time, but there didn't seem to be any fluke about the manner of that triumph. He only has a 2lb higher rating to contend with and it would be no surprise to see him go in again. Moab comfortably struck by four lengths over 1m6f here on his most recent outing and is expected to mount a bold bid. Advertorial completes the shortlist.

Although not bred for this far, SAVVY STELLAR (nap) was strong through the line when winning over C&D a month ago.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (13/2 -8%)Timeless Charm |
13/2(-8%) | (10) Timeless Charm 13/2, Won by a neck off 72 over 12f at Newcastle on penultimate start; went clear and ran to form but did a bit too much too soon when third beaten 9l off 74 last time; effective 10-12f on a sound surface; consistent performer. Went off too hot last time; handicapped to go well should they get the tactics right. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (7/1 +30%)Charming Whisper |
7/1(+30%) | (6) Charming Whisper 7/1, Scored by 1 1/4l off 74 over 10f at Newmarket in August; outpaced and probably unsuited by drop in trip when seventh beaten 6l off 78 last time; suited by 10f and a sound surface; needs to rebound after a couple of below-par efforts. (1) (9/1 0%)Ludo's Landing |
9/1(0%) | (1) Ludo's Landing 9/1, Made too much use of on soft ground when comfortably held in a 12f handicap at Ripon last time; off a short break; effective 10-12f, acts on any surface but may prefer a sound one; form has been inconsistent recently. Soft ground was an excuse latest; won the time before and the AW doesn't faze him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (9/1 +0%)Light Speed |
9/1(+0%) | (9) Light Speed 9/1, Scored by a length off 72 over 10f at Beverley three starts back; ran to form when fifth beaten 4l off 75 last time; effective 8-10f and needs a sound surface; remains on a competitive mark. Hasn't built on his Beverley win in August and this trip will be a first. |

Started this season with a near-miss at Windsor (1m2f) in April but comfortably held since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (33/1 -136%)Papagei |
33/1(-136%) | (7) Papagei 33/1, Made too much use of when finishing down the field in a 10f handicap at Doncaster most recently; suited by 12f and acts on any surface; generally consistent and capable of a better showing. Well below best in cheekpieces and blinkers last two outings; needs a revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (40/1 -233%)Pleasant Man |
40/1(-233%) | (2) Pleasant Man 40/1, Found little when beaten 7l in a 1m6f handicap at Wolverhampton last time; visor fitted for the first time; effective at 14f and suited by all-weather; flattered by Group-level form. Now makes debut for another new yard after a period on the sidelines; visor added. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Always A Star rarely runs a bad race and, despite failing to justify favouritism when third here last month, he is one to take seriously. However, LUDO'S LANDING looks the one to side with. Charlie Johnston's five-year-old failed to fire when last of five at Ripon in July, but the softer conditions may have been against him that day. With a previous all-weather success to his name, he gets the vote. Timeless Charm also has a chance.

Although yet to get his head in front, ALWAYS A STAR has been running well in defeat and deserves a break.
Ths is the racecard key.
