1st (3) (8/11 +34%)One Big Bang |
8/11(+34%) | (3) One Big Bang 8/11, Finished second, beaten 3 1/4l in a Listed Novices' Chase at Cheltenham last time; consistent handicapper effective at 3m and unexposed over fences, likely to win in this sphere soon. Very useful handicap hurdler; creditable second in Listed Cheltenham novice on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/10 -32%)Kamsinas |
11/10(-32%) | (2) Kamsinas 11/10, Out-battled late by a strong stayer when second, beaten a neck in a beginners' chase at Ludlow last time; effective from 2 1/2m to 3m on good or good to soft ground; still unexposed as a stayer with more to come over fences. Very useful handicap hurdler who went down fighting on last month's chasing debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

The ratings only split Kamsinas and ONE BIG BANG by 1lb based on what they achieved over hurdles. The former went close on his chasing bow at Ludlow, but he will need to jump better in the closing stages and the form was let down by the winner being disappointing at Warwick on Thursday. Therefore, the latter gets the vote after finishing second in a Listed contest at Cheltenham and the seven-year-old, who had finished fifth in the Pertemps Final in March, should have more to offer in this discipline. Arctic Saint has plenty to find on all known evidence.

An interesting clash between useful hurdlers KAMSINAS and One Big Bang, who both ran well in defeat on their chasing debuts.

1st (2) (3/1 -50%)Ali Star Bert |
3/1(-50%) | (2) Ali Star Bert 3/1, Returned to form off a reduced mark at his favoured venue, winning a handicap by 1 1/4l off 93 here last time. A thorough stayer suited by 3m+, best at Southwell, and remains well treated on his best form. Too inconsistent to rely upon but last month's C&D win was his seventh chase success. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3/1 -33%)Seasmoke |
3/1(-33%) | (3) Seasmoke 3/1, Improved up in trip when landing a handicap by a length off 91 at Market Rasen last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3 1/4m and handles good to soft and good ground; consistent and could progress with experience. Built upon promising seasonal/chase debut when scoring at Market Rasen last month; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (3/1 +40%)Lone Soldier |
3/1(+40%) | (6) Lone Soldier 3/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 12l, in a handicap chase at Market Rasen last time. Effective at around 2 1/2m but remains an inconsistent maiden. Ran okay at Market Rasen (2m3f) last month but needs to prove his stamina here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (15/2 -50%)Henry Box Brown |
15/2(-50%) | (5) Henry Box Brown 15/2, Had too much to do under an overly negative ride when 16l third in a handicap chase at Chepstow most recently. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and acts on soft and good ground; on last winning mark, unexposed at 3m and could build on latest effort. Not at best in recent months but twice in the frame since cheekpieces went on in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (7/1 +36%)Felton Bellevue |
7/1(+36%) | (4) Felton Bellevue 7/1, Outpaced and never threatened when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Market Rasen last time. Effective at 3m and handles soft ground; dropping in the weights but below par this season. Back on a good mark now but needs to better his recent efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (40/1 +39%)Voleur De Terres |
40/1(+39%) | (7) Voleur De Terres 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Exeter last time and yet to show any worthwhile ability under rules. Still unexposed under rules but was pulled up in both handicaps (hurdle/chase). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (150/1 -200%)Fast Deal |
150/1(-200%) | (8) Fast Deal 150/1, Made mistakes, stopped quickly and went too fast early when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Cartmel last time. Returning from a break; effective at 2 1/2m on good ground but appears regressive. In poor form this year and 8lb wrong here; look elsewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (11/2 +50%)Jack The Nipper |
11/2(+50%) | (1) Jack The Nipper 11/2, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Windsor last time; trainer in form; effective at 2m and handles soft ground. May improve as a chaser in time but has stamina to prove. Still very unexposed but struggled on recent chase/handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SEASMOKE built on her first attempt over the larger obstacles when scoring at Market Rasen last month and a 4lb rise appears unlikely to stop the daughter of Flemensfirth from continuing her progression. Ali Star Bert took advantage of a falling mark to win over C&D and is respected off a 5lb higher rating. Others to note are Henry Box Brown and Lone Soldier.

Preference is for SEASMOKE, who has made a good start to his chasing career this autumn and may still have some potential.

1st (1) (13/2 -86%)Charles Ritz |
13/2(-86%) | (1) Charles Ritz 13/2, Returned to form when dropped in trip, just failing to catch a race-fit rival when beaten 1/2l off a mark of 118 at Warwick last time. Off a long absence but runs off his last winning mark and may need this run after the layoff. Creditable second off this mark when last in action but that was 404 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (4/1 +0%)Tedwin Hills |
4/1(+0%) | (5) Tedwin Hills 4/1, Won by 10l off 105 at Warwick on his penultimate start. Did plenty early when taken on up front and was fourth, beaten 22l off 112 last time. Trainer in form; effective from 2 1/2m to 3m on a sound surface. Was progressing until latest and may now be high enough in the weights. Returned from break with two good-ground autumn wins; safely held on good to soft since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

11/2(+54%) | (7) Kayce Dutton 11/2, Unseated rider in a handicap chase here last time. Effective around 2 1/2m; in good form earlier in the year and capable of bouncing back. Had excuses on last two outings but form of his spring win is treated with caution. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (2/1 +11%)Groovy Blue |
2/1(+11%) | (6) Groovy Blue 2/1, Had every chance and ran to form when flattening out late back from a break on chase debut, beaten 3l off 108 at Sedgefield last time. Effective at 2 1/2m on good ground and could build on that reappearance effort. Kept on for clear third behind two next-time-out winners on last month's chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (11/2 -10%)Heard That |
11/2(-10%) | (3) Heard That 11/2, Pulled up in a Bangor-on-Dee handicap chase last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m but current mark looks challenging. 3-8 over fences; didn't fire on seasonal debut but has possibilities if back on song. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (12/1 +33%)Quick Sharpener |
12/1(+33%) | (4) Quick Sharpener 12/1, Unsuited by rain-softened ground when comfortably held in a handicap chase here last time. Effective at 2 1/2m on good ground but can be inconsistent. Won a chase in the spring but has shaky overall record over fences; risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (17/2 +6%)Tradecraft |
17/2(+6%) | (2) Tradecraft 17/2, Made mistakes and needed the run on chase debut after a wind operation when finishing down the field in a Bangor-on-Dee handicap chase. Second run since the wind op; top jockey returns. Effective at 2m on soft ground and can improve over fences for this yard. Ultimately well beaten on chase/handicap debut but remains very unexposed; blinkers on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The handicapper may have caught up with Tedwin Hills after failing to complete the hat-trick when fourth at Newcastle, but he isn't one to write off just yet. Charles Ritz is of interest off his current rating but the return from a long absence is a concern, so, with that in mind, GROOVY BLUE gets the vote. The six-year-old made a pleasing introduction to fences when third at Sedgefield last month and is expected to build on that effort.

Ben Pauling's GROOVY BLUE made a good start to his chasing career at Sedgefield last month and the form is working out well.

Effective over 2–2 1/2m, with winter form franked at top level, and capable of leaving reappearance form behind to win a maiden. Placed all three hurdle starts last season; jumping error cooked his goose last time. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Despite showing plenty of signs of greenness, Zamek shaped with lots of promise when second at Lingfield and he is likely to take a step forward. Even so, this might be the day for SHADE OF WINTER. Runner-up in three of his five outings under Rules, Evan Williams' charge sets the standard with an official rating of 113 and can bounce back from his disappointing handicap bow at Cheltenham to strike. Liam Mera Kai completes the shortlist.

Clear second to a useful rival on last month's hurdle debut, ZAMEK has considerable scope for progress.

Course bumper winner; very respectable third on recent hurdle debut at Hexham (2m4f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (20/1 -11%)Blue Marvel |
20/1(-11%) | (2) Blue Marvel 20/1, Outpaced but ran to form when well beaten in a mares' bumper at Warwick last time; difficult to recommend on that showing now tackling hurdles. Showed promise in both bumpers but needs to take a step forward on hurdle debut. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

It's hard to get away from STRONG RUN. A full-sister to Strong Leader, Fergal O'Brien's mare showed lots of ability in her four appearances in bumpers and hit the line strongly over an extended 2m on her hurdling debut at Newbury last month. This step up in trip could unlock any amount of improvement and she is tough to oppose. Chatty Girl finished second on her outing over timber at Windsor and is respected, along with Queenofthejukebox.

The one to beat is STRONG RUN, who ran well in some strong bumpers last season and was placed in a good Newbury hurdle last month.

10/1(-150%) | (10) Lusso Milan 10/1, Travelled well and ran to form when beaten 1¼l off 77 at Wincanton last time. Effective at 2m on good ground and handled cut in bumpers. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/1 +38%)Prairie Diamond |

20/1(-167%) | (2) Katira Du Mestivel 20/1, Needed the run when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon most recently. Effective around 2m3f on soft ground; still early days and worth another chance. Has failed to go on from a promising hurdling debut second; may still do better though. |

100/1(-100%) | (6) Hidol Du Livet 100/1, Fell in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time when beaten; fitted with a first-time tongue-tie. Effective at 2m on good ground but needs to prove his ability remains after a layoff. Offered little in two runs for new yard this autumn; not easy to make a case for. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Tigers Moon is yet to run a bad race since competing in handicap company and, despite failing to justify favouritism when second at Fontwell last time, he remains of interest. However, KALLY DES BRUYERES weakened into fourth on the run-in over an extended 2m3f at Huntingdon and this drop back in trip looks the right move. Off a 1lb lower rating, the five-year-old makes plenty of appeal. Lusso Milan is far from out of it either.

The progressive TIGERS MOON (nap) gets a confident vote to resume winning ways quickly on the back of an excellent second at Fontwell.

4/1(+27%) | (2) Just Her Type 4/1, Won by 5l off 102 at Ffos Las on her penultimate start; ran to form but possibly unsuited by a drop in trip when third beaten 9l off 108 last time. 2nd (4) (8/1 -33%)Gold Link |
8/1(-33%) | (4) Gold Link 8/1, Made mistakes and found little when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Kempton last time. Had been in good form previously; trainer in form. Best around 2 1/2m, suited by a sound surface, and well treated on chase form. Last of six at Kempton 56 days ago; he's the sort to bounce back after a break though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/2 -22%)Don Rafael |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (3/1 +45%)Comanche Magic |
3/1(+45%) | (1) Comanche Magic 3/1, Ran to form when finishing 2l third in a maiden hurdle at Clonmel on his latest run; effective at 2 1/2m and showed steady progress in Ireland during the spring. Market can guide on his handicap and stable debut. Very good third at Clonmel in April; he can't be discounted on his yard/handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (25/1 -285%)Imperial Jade |
25/1(-285%) | (5) Imperial Jade 25/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Wincanton last time. Likes to make the running and return to this discipline should suit but plenty to prove. Failed to take to chasing this term; no surprise to see her get back on track here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

With the Stuart Edmunds yard in good form, Comanche Magic makes some appeal on his first start for the yard on handicap debut. Gold Link ran too badly to be true when last at Kempton in October and might be worth another chance, but TRAMUNTANA gets the vote. The six-year-old filled the runner-up spot at Huntingdon on his return to action and with Sean Bowen back in the plate, he could be the one to beat.

Olly Murphy's improving TRAMUNTANA shaped well when runner-up at Huntingdon on his return and can build on it now to resume winning ways
