1st (4) (6/4 +25%)Calvino |
6/4(+25%) | (4) Calvino 6/4, Pulled up in a novice hurdle at Plumpton last time. Off a short break; effective from 2m to 2m1f and handles good to soft and good to firm ground. A course bumper winner who could bounce back for a yard with a good record here. Promising hurdling debut but pulled up at Plumpton since; well worth another chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3/1 -60%)Kapitein Kool |
3/1(-60%) | (1) Kapitein Kool 3/1, Ran to form under a penalty when second, beaten 2l, in a novice hurdle at Exeter last time. Off a short break; effective over 2m and handles good to soft and good ground. Debut form looks strong and may have a bit more to come. Excellent second at Exeter latest; concedes weight all round but a player after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (7/4 +22%)Bright Legend |
7/4(+22%) | (3) Bright Legend 7/4, Finished a below-form third, beaten 9½l, in a maiden hurdle at Fontwell on latest outing. Off a short break; effective over 2m to 2½m. Irish form sets the standard, a threat though may be vulnerable to an improver. Fairly useful ex-Irish hurdler; well below par for new yard at Fontwell so more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (10/1 +60%)Sioux Falls |
10/1(+60%) | (7) Sioux Falls 10/1, Green and made mistakes on a modest debut when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Chepstow last time. A point winner who may need further than 2m under rules. Promising debut fifth at Chepstow; this winning Irish pointer can build on it; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (18/1 +82%)Badentaggart |
18/1(+82%) | (2) Badentaggart 18/1, Improved in first-time blinkers but was comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Wincanton last time. Effective over 2½m and handles soft ground; looks one for handicaps. Only poor form shown in novice hurdles at Chepstow and Wincanton; lots more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (300/1 -2400%)Fane Court |
300/1(-2400%) | (5) Fane Court 300/1, Showed improvement when winning a maiden point at Kirkistown by a short head last time, but will need plenty more to figure at this level over sharp enough trip on rules debut. Winning Irish pointer; makes his belated hurdling debut now and the market can guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (150/1 -127%)Forest Hills |
150/1(-127%) | (6) Forest Hills 150/1, Made the running and set it up for closers when beaten 9l in a handicap at Chepstow last time; flat winner will be suited by sound surface but faces stiff task on hurdle debut. A fair 1m2f scorer on the Flat for Rod Millman; he's no forlorn hope now going hurdling. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

KAPITEIN KOOL sprang a surprise when defeating Calvino (second) at Newton Abbot in October, but he proved it was no fluke at Exeter next time, finishing second under the penalty. The latter is much better off at the weights today but having subsequently disappointed, that form is expected to be upheld. Bright Legend is far more exposed than the other principals, but he made an encouraging stable debut at Fontwell and must not be underestimated.

The vote goes to KAPITEIN KOOL who advanced his form when an excellent runner-up at Exeter last time out and can resume winning ways

1/3(+0%) | (5) Onlyforfrankie 1/3, Promising hurdle debut when 6l third in a maiden hurdle at Hereford most recent run; effective at 2m; Irish bumper winner who should improve on that debut effort. Looked good in an Irish bumper and positives to take from his two runs in Britain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (7/2 +30%)Babyken |
7/2(+30%) | (10) Babyken 7/2, Stable has won two of the last five runnings; pulled up in a juvenile hurdle at Fontwell latest; tongue-tie fitted for the first time; off a short break; showed useful flat form in France, has joined a top yard and could leave debut effort behind. Flat winner in France; flopped at Fontwell but had a break and now tongue tied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (66/1 +67%)Arnie Moon |
66/1(+67%) | (1) Arnie Moon 66/1, Outpaced and made a poor debut when finishing down the field in a novice hurdle at Exeter most recently; has all to prove. Ran okay in his first bumper but tailed off in the second and again on hurdling debut. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (150/1 -88%)Galactic Princess |
150/1(-88%) | (9) Galactic Princess 150/1, Pulled up in a novice hurdle here latest; wears a hood for the first time; showed minor promise in points but has plenty to prove under rules. Point second doesn't amount to much; 50-1 when pulled up here nine days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (25/1 +69%)Hard Stare |
25/1(+69%) | (3) Hard Stare 25/1, Outpaced but improved without threatening when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Wincanton most recent; effective at 2m on good ground; can do better over hurdles judged on point win but likely better over further in handicaps. Initial promise but two tailed-off runs over hurdles now leave him with much to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (33/1 -175%)Trooper |
33/1(-175%) | (7) Trooper 33/1, Ran to form when fourth beaten 4l in a handicap at Dusseldorf latest; flat winner in Germany; market may prove best guide starting out over hurdles. Had plenty of Flat racing on the continent, going 5-25; should stay the trip okay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (18/1 -80%)Victors Spirit |
18/1(-80%) | (8) Victors Spirit 18/1, Far too free and stopped quickly on a poor debut when down the field in a maiden at Wolverhampton most recent; had been in good form prior in bumpers; sound surface will suit; not ruled out on hurdle debut. Tailed off on the AW last month but was runner-up in two bumpers during the summer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Onlyforfrankie made a pleasing start to life over hurdles at Hereford and is one of the more appealing options in what looks a moderate heat, as is Constantinian, who finished second over that same C&D in November. That being said, a chance can be taken on VICTORS SPIRIT. Things didn't work out for him on the level last month, but Neil King's gelding had shown clear ability in a couple of bumpers previously and might benefit from a switch to hurdles.

This looks a good opportunity for ONLYFORFRANKIE who sets the standard, on both his bumper form and the run in a Hereford maiden.

1/1(+64%) | (2) Crest Of Stars 1/1, Jumped poorly but ran to form when 12l third in a novice hurdle at Plumpton last time; effective at 2m on good ground; open to further progress if tidying up his jumping and should stay further in time. Bumper winner; let down by jumping when beaten 12l by General Briar last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (13/8 +46%)Explode |
13/8(+46%) | (8) Explode 13/8, Went clear and was made too much use of when improving from debut to finish fourth beaten 12l in a juvenile hurdle at Newbury last time; effective at 2m and can do better with more restrained tactics. Useful on the Flat; clear at one stage before going down by 12l at Newbury. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (5/1 +90%)Monsun Climate |
5/1(+90%) | (5) Monsun Climate 5/1, Improved from debut but had too much to do when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Ludlow last time; effective at 2m on soft ground; point form suggests longer distances may suit. Looked poor but his 15l defeat behind a good one at Ludlow was very encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (9/1 +82%)Lydeard Girl |
9/1(+82%) | (7) Lydeard Girl 9/1, Rallied gamely and ran to form when comfortably held in a novice hurdle here last time; effective at 2m on good ground; consistent but looks one for handicaps. Beaten a shade under 20l in two C&D novices this winter so she has a degree of ability. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (200/1 -60%)Marhaba Million |
200/1(-60%) | (4) Marhaba Million 200/1, Made mistakes and ran poorly when down the field in a novice hurdle here last time; second run after a wind operation; regressive on the Flat and has plenty to prove over hurdles. Regressed on the Flat and was 150-1 when tailed off on last month's jumps debut here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (80/1 -100%)Anthracite |
80/1(-100%) | (1) Anthracite 80/1, Below form after an absence when beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap at Windsor last time; largely poor on flat; returns from a very long layoff and faces a tough task on hudle debut. Low-grade Flat form in four races at up to 1m2f and he's returning from a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (150/1 -275%)Dino Moon |
150/1(-275%) | (3) Dino Moon 150/1, Outpaced and modest on debut when well beaten in a bumper at Ascot on his only start; that a good race but difficult to fancy on hurdle debut. Made debut in a bumper at Ascot but went off 28-1 and trailed in last. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (66/1 -32%)I'll Give It A Go |
66/1(-32%) | (10) I'll Give It A Go 66/1, Keen and made too much use of when finishing down the field in a handicap at Nottingham last time; consistent on flat prior to that; yard has done well with similar types; returning from a long layoff and market can guide on hurdle debut. Placed on the Flat for James Owen but at a modest level; stamina not guaranteed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

POURQUOI PAS PAPA was no match for one that went on to contest the Coral Finale Juvenile Hurdle last month. That rival went on to disappoint that day but it sets a decent standard nonetheless and, with improvement likely, he is fancied to go one place better. Crest Of Stars hit the frame at Plumpton latest and may well be capable of better himself, while similar comments apply to Explode, who has yet to show his best since making the switch to hurdles.

The suggestion is POURQUOI PAS PAPA, who probably chased home a very good horse at Sandown. Explode is second choice.

1st (1) (11/4 +39%)Hypotenus |
11/4(+39%) | (1) Hypotenus 11/4, Taken on up front and made too much use of when well beaten in a handicap chase at Ludlow last time. Had been in good form before that, effective at 2m, suited by a sound surface, and looks well treated on old Irish form with easy lead possible. Remains winless over fences and only seventh at Ludlow latest; sort to bounce back though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/2 -218%)Irish Chorus |
7/2(-218%) | (2) Irish Chorus 7/2, Improved markedly with better jumping when landing a handicap by 2l off a 2lb lower mark at Leicester last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good ground; a 2lb rise seems lenient with more to come over fences. Overcame some mistakes to score at Leicester 29 days ago; has more to offer so big shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/5 +52%)Juggernaut |
6/5(+52%) | (3) Juggernaut 6/5, Had too much to do after being badly hampered and is worth marking up significantly when fourth, beaten 9l, in a handicap chase at Wincanton last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/4m, acts on soft and good ground, and remains consistent and competitive. Arrives in good nick without winning over fences; ought to be thereabouts again eased 1lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 +25%)O'grady's Hill |
12/1(+25%) | (5) O'grady's Hill 12/1, Taken on up front and made too much use of when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Ludlow last time, a run she needed. Capable of getting involved if building on that effort starting out over fences on favourable good ground. Off 14 months before beating one on yard debut at Ludlow latest; bit to prove now chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (10/1 +38%)Ballybeen |
10/1(+38%) | (4) Ballybeen 10/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Ffos Las last time after a short break. Effective at around 2 1/2m and acts on any ground, but recent form has tailed off and he has plenty to prove. Failed to fire in a couple of runs for his current yard, pulled up at Ffos Las latest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Irish Chorus overcame a tendency to jump left when winning at Leicester in early December and she may well be able to follow up from just 2lb higher. However, these fences can be unforgiving and there is risk attached. With that in mind, it might be worth chancing the consistent JUGGERNAUT, who is still learning over fences and could be the one to capitalise if staying right-handed causes Irish Chorus problems. Hypotenus is the pick of the rest.

Alan King's IRISH CHORUS still looked a work in progress over fences when scoring at Leicester last time and can defy a 2lb weights rise

1st (1) (13/2 -95%)Brave Knight |
13/2(-95%) | (1) Brave Knight 13/2, The yard has won two of the last five runnings of this race. Scored by 15l off a 7lb lower mark at Fontwell on his penultimate start and returns from a short break. Effective at 2m on good ground but yet to prove stamina; revised mark demands more. Beaten with no penalty at Fontwell two months ago and he's now 7lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (18/5 +20%)Celtic Art |
18/5(+20%) | (4) Celtic Art 18/5, Returned to form when winning readily up in trip at this sharp track, landing a handicap by 3l off a 6lb lower mark here last time. Effective from 2m to 2m3f and acts on soft and good to soft. Unreliable type who likes the track but has never won off a mark this high. 3l too good for American Sniper here last time; up 6lb but big shout if in the same form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (28/1 -100%)Bluegrass |
28/1(-100%) | (2) Bluegrass 28/1, Raced wide at a sharp track and failed to find much when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft but prefers good ground. Was in fair form until latest; sharp tracks seem to suit best given flat speed. Has his off days but knows how to win races and he's on a competitive mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 +20%)American Sniper |
4/1(+20%) | (3) American Sniper 4/1, Ran to form when benefiting from an easy lead, beaten 3l off a 1lb lower mark here last time. Effective over 2 1/2–3m. A useful handicap hurdler who looks on a workable mark if building on that recent revival. Has won over 3m so latest second over 2m3f at Taunton can be viewed positively. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (10/3 +67%)Him Malaya |
10/3(+67%) | (9) Him Malaya 10/3, The yard has won two of the last five runnings of this race. Ran to form when fourth, beaten 5l in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and acts on good ground. Generally consistent performer. Kept on to be under 5l behind Celtic Art over C&D last month; considered each-way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (11/1 +39%)Time Interval |
11/1(+39%) | (8) Time Interval 11/1, Found the ground too soft when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Hereford last time. Cheekpieces on for the first time. Effective at 2m and suited by good ground, though may not stay 2 1/2m. Back on his last winning mark and likely to benefit from a sharp track. Out of form in the autumn but back on better ground here with cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (9/1 -38%)Benvoy |
9/1(-38%) | (5) Benvoy 9/1, Returned to form when making all at a sharp track, landing a handicap by 1l off a 3lb lower mark at Huntingdon last time. Wears a visor for the first time. Effective at 2m on good or good to soft. Back in form after a wind operation and remains competitive. Second run after a wind op when winning at Huntingdon; visor on for blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (10/1 -54%)Breezethroughlife |
10/1(-54%) | (6) Breezethroughlife 10/1, Improved when stepped up in trip on handicap debut, beaten 1 1/4l off a 2lb lower mark at Doncaster last time. Effective from 2m to 3m and acts on good ground. More to come as a staying type. Beaten by an 11yo on handicap debut and that was at 3m; he's improving, though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (22/1 -100%)Fight My Fire |
22/1(-100%) | (7) Fight My Fire 22/1, A bit too free but ran to form on handicap debut when fourth, beaten 6 1/2l in a handicap hurdle at Sandown latest. Effective at 2m and acts on good to soft. In good form overall. Fair handicap debut at Sandown but this stiffer stamina test might not benefit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (25/1 +11%)Zhang Fei |
25/1(+11%) | (10) Zhang Fei 25/1, Keen and found little when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Kempton last time. Effective at 2m but has been inconsistent of late. It's been a quiet return back with former yard and he has a strike-rate of just 3-43. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

CELTIC ART had something in hand when winning over C&D last month and a 6lb higher mark looks manageable given his potential to progress further over this trip. American Sniper finished three lengths behind the selection that day but has a decent chance of turning the form around on revised terms. Breezethroughlife, Benvoy and Him Malaya are others that have been in good heart lately and help make this a competitive affair.

A chance is taken on TIME INTERVAL who could stage a revival back on forecast drier ground and with cheekpieces added.

Very useful handicapper; pulled up last time; hard to beat here if back on song. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (22/1 -38%)Fan De Blues |
22/1(-38%) | (8) Fan De Blues 22/1, Below form when fourth, beaten 43l, in a hunter chase at Kempton last time; returning from a long layoff; enjoys making the running and is effective between 2m and 2½m but has regressed after a break but well treated on these terms on old form. Very useful in his prime but both hunter chase runs last season were underwhelming. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (22/1 +0%)Dorset Diamond |
22/1(+0%) | (7) Dorset Diamond 22/1, Finished second, beaten 10l, in a conditions race at Larkhill last time; point winner; returning from a long layoff and has plenty to find. Ended 2025 with two good point runs but still makes only limited appeal on rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (22/1 +33%)Guy |
22/1(+33%) | (1) Guy 22/1, Didn't stay when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot last time; returning from a long layoff and is hard to recommend with big stamina concerns on chase return. Useful chaser in his prime but in poor form over hurdles when last seen in early 2025. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|C| (5) (9/1 +73%)Just Loose Change |
9/1(+73%) | (5) Just Loose Change 9/1, Unseated rider in a conditions race at Larkhill last time; effective at around 3m and suited by sound surface; returning from a long layoff and has plenty to prove back under rules. Won a handicap chase last season and his pointing debut in November was respectable. |

6/1(+20%) | (2) Stumps Or Slips 6/1, Improved again when second, beaten 3/4l, in a novice hurdle at Market Rasen last time; off a short break; remains progressive over hurdles and fences; very interesting recruit to this sphere Won four times on good ground for Olly Murphy in spring/summer; rain a big worry here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (9) (80/1 +20%)Finisher |
80/1(+20%) | (9) Finisher 80/1, Below form when comfortably held in a conditions race at Larkhill last time; returning from a long layoff and former hurdles winner has plenty to find. Soundly beaten in two Larkhill points towards end of 2025; first rules run since 2021. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (5/2 +29%)A Jet Of Our Own |
5/2(+29%) | (4) A Jet Of Our Own 5/2, Ran to form when winning a conditions race at Larkhill by a length last time; held in this last year but in good form in points and under rules since; returning from a long layoff and looks a bright chasing prospect in this discipine. Honourable fifth in last season's Aintree Foxhunters' and won open point in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (20/1 -25%)Dorset Dazzler |
20/1(-25%) | (6) Dorset Dazzler 20/1, Improved when winning a conditions race at Larkhill by a length last time; wears a hood for the first time; returning from a long layoff and has plenty to find on rules debut. Ended 2025 with two point wins but has a lot more on his plate on this rules debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

It is hard to oppose UNEXPECTED PARTY now that he switches to this company. Dan Skelton's gelding won the Grand Annual in 2024 and only found one rival too good in the 2025 renewal. He was far from disgraced when giving 11lb to Steel Ally at Carlisle in November and that form puts him head and shoulders above these. A Jet Of Our Own and Stumps Or Slips complete the shortlist.

Classy handicapper UNEXPECTED PARTY will be far too good for this field if anywhere near his best.

1st (5) (9/2 +59%)Broomfield Gale |
9/2(+59%) | (5) Broomfield Gale 9/2, Travelled well but needed the run and may have found the ground too soft when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Exeter last time. Effective around 2 1/2m, acts on good to soft and good ground, and after a career-best summer campaign, is on a fair mark to build on that effort. Began this season in good form but may find 2m a bit sharp and doesn't want rain. |

2nd (1) (14/1 -27%)Best Night |
14/1(-27%) | (1) Best Night 14/1, Made too much use of when stepped up in trip and failed to get home, finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Exeter most recently. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good ground, but yet to show signs of the wind operation working. Won on British debut in September but subsequent form has been disappointing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (10/1 +44%)Ruler Of The River |

4th (2) (3/1 -20%)Getmetothemoon |
3/1(-20%) | (2) Getmetothemoon 3/1, Won by 2 1/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Stratford three starts ago. Returned to form up in trip when third, beaten 5l off 98 last time, and is 1lb higher here. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good ground, generally consistent with a fair mark. Scored on good ground in October and last month's soft-ground third was also a good effort. |

16/1(-14%) | (9) L'inoubliable 16/1, Flattened out after a late error and was comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time. Yet to prove she can handle this opening mark. Soundly beaten in two slow-ground handicaps this season and now 0-5. |

6th (3) (80/1 -627%)Getarose |
80/1(-627%) | (3) Getarose 80/1, From a yard that won this last year. Outpaced and disappointing on handicap debut when finishing down the field in a hurdle here most recently. Related to useful performers up to 2m4f and while her penultimate run was franked, her mark demands more. Ran poorly on handicap debut but her first two hurdle runs were quite promising. |

|PU| (8) (11/4 +86%)Jukebox Annie |
11/4(+86%) | (8) Jukebox Annie 11/4, Had no obvious excuse when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good to soft and good ground, but has been struggling in handicaps. Ran quite well over 2m3f here in November but others have more pressing claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BLUENOSE BELLE's winning run came to an end when filling second place on her return over 2m at Ludlow in November. However, she could return to winning ways with the benefit of that outing under her belt. Getmetothemoon has to be respected following a promising third over 2m4f at Wincanton last time, while similar comments apply to East End Girl.

The pick is EAST END GIRL (nap), who was third in a big field on soft going last month and can do better if conditions are quicker here.
Ths is the racecard key.
