13:30 Taunton Conditions Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SPARTAN ARMY found stepping back up in grade too much in the Adonis last month and the son of Highland Reel might prove too strong for his rivals down in class, despite having to carry a 7lb penalty. Call Me Arthur attracted market interest ahead of his racecourse debut at Ffos Las and he could fare better with that run behind him. Jilaijone is fancied to chase them home, while Only Fools can't be ruled out on her first start for the David Pipe team.

This represents a big drop in class for SPARTAN ARMY given he contested the Adonis at Kempton a month ago and he's fancied to get right back on track. Jilaijone was disappointing in handicap company last time but is still the obvious threat, though Only Fools did win twice on the Flat in France.

Back down in class SPARTAN ARMY has the best chance. The Pipe runners Jilaijone and Only Fools look the biggest dangers.

Plenty of these would need to improve on what they have shown so far, but that can't be said for DONNIE AZOFF, who is taken to go one better having finished a good second at Fontwell on his latest start. Fuji Rocks was travelling well when stumbling and unseating his rider on the bend at Ludlow last week and he is likely to enter calculations. Moytier appeals most of the remainder.

This sharp test will suit DONNIE AZOFF and in a race lacking strength in depth, it looks a good chance for him to open his account. Fuji Rocks is open to improvement and is second choice, with Gardons La another to consider.

This looks a good chance for DONNIE AZOFF to get off the mark. Fever Dream is the suggested second choice.

LTO Selection:

14:40 Taunton Handicap Chase (Class 4) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The form of GARINCHA's Fontwell success took a timely boost when the runner-up won at Huntingdon next time out. A 3lb rise in the handicap ought to be more than manageable with that in mind, and he is open to further progress up in trip. Art Decco bolted up on his latest outing and must feature prominently in calculations once again, along with Haldon Hill, who struck at Ffos Las earlier this month.

ART DECCO got off the mark when forging clear for success at Fontwell last time and he is taken to follow up with more to come returned to this longer trip. The 7-y-o can get the better of Garincha and Haldon Hill, who also both arrive on the back of victories on their latest outings.

This drop in class may well enable MUMBO JUMBO (nap) to get off the mark. Art Decco is feared most.

LTO Selection:

15:15 Taunton Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 19f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

BALKO SAINT has dropped a long way in the ratings since he was last seen over hurdles and has an obvious chance of exploiting the opportunity if revitalised by the switch back to timber. The progressive Decorated looks the the chief danger to the selection after notching a bloodless success at Sedgefield in December, while Operation Manna is better than he showed over 3m at Chepstow last time.

Having been campaigned over fences this season, BALKO SAINT ran better than for a while when runner-up at Wincanton last time and probably would have won if not for errors in the latter stages. The 6-y-o is on a workable mark now back over hurdles and he can see off the challenge of last-time-out winners Decorated and Earth King.

As a last-time-out winner who remains unexposed beyond 2m, DECORATED may well be the answer. Earth King is second choice.

LTO Selection:

15:50 Taunton Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Mr Tambourine Man has been consistent over hurdles and is likely to make a bold bid to land a hat-trick of wins in this discipline. However, he steps back up in class and has another 7lb to shoulder on his first outing since May. Therefore, the vote goes to APPLE ROCK, who has enjoyed a fine campaign, winning three on the bounce, and is taken to bounce back from a slightly below-par display at Ascot last month. Iberio completes the shortlist.

The one with the most compelling claims is APPLE ROCK, who typically found plenty for pressure when completing the hat-trick here at the end of last year. He looked a little short of full match-fitness back from 7 weeks off at Ascot and, with that run under his belt, the 9-y-o can resume winning ways. My Last Oscar, also a C&D winner on his sole previous visit to Taunton, may emerge as the main danger given that this trip is a concern for both Iberio and Mr Tambourine Man.

Provided his stamina holds out back over 3m, IBERIO could well register a third course success. Apple Rock is second choice.

LTO Selection:

16:25 Taunton Handicap Chase (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A highly-encouraging second on his chase debut at Market Rasen, HOWYOUPLAYTHEGAME must hold every chance if building upon that career-best effort. The selection remains unexposed and gets the vote ahead of 16-race maiden Prime Pretender, who has been disappointing of late but will enjoy these conditions. Treasure Dillon and Flash Gorcombe can pick up the pieces if each of the aforementioned pair falter.

HOWYOUPLAYTHEGAME looked a different proposition switched to a handicap over fences when second at Market Rasen 18 days ago and this looks a good chance for him to go one place better. None of his rivals look particularly solid but Flash Gorcombe showed enough at Exeter to think he can be a factor from his lowly mark.

Unexposed HOWYOUPLAYTHEGAME is taken to build on his Market Rasen effort and go one better. Prime Pretender is second choice.

LTO Selection:

17:00 Taunton NH Flat Race (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Narrowly denied at Exeter last time out, PENTIRE HEAD has shown more than enough in both career outings to suggest that he can get off the mark on this occasion. Conditions should be of no inconvenience and he can get the better of Mr Mackay, who ran creditably in Listed company on his penultimate start. Johnnywho appeals most of the newcomers as an Irish point-to-point winner.

JOHNNYWHO is of strong interest on this Rules debut given that he had none other than subsequent Grade 1 hurdles winner Hermes Allen back in third when easily winning a maiden point in October 2021. This scenario probably won't be entirely ideal but the hint should nevertheless be taken if the market speaks in his favour. It was disappointing that Mr Mackay failed to land the odds at Hereford last time, and it's possible that Pentire Head and Bhaloo will emerge as the main dangers.

The vote goes to interesting rules debutant JOHNNYWHO. Pentire Head is feared most.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
