The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Scavengers Reign has been a model of consistency and is likely to be in the thick of the action once more, but LAFFER CURVE could be hard to hold out. Fourth in an Ascot bumper when with Tom Weston, she had to settle for fifth when sent off a short-priced favourite here on her debut for Dan Skelton but obstacles should bring out the best in her. Rosie Baloo and Halftheworldaway are others to consider.

The percentage call in an uncompetitive race is ROSIE BALOO who arrives with a bumper win as well as two third places over hurdles.

FLORITA proved a different proposition when making a winning chase bow at Market Rasen and there could be more to come from her in this discipline. Although the assessor has reacted with a 9lb hike in the ratings, Sam England's mare looks capable of better. Athair Mor has filled the runner-up spot on his last two outings and must enter calculations, along with the lightly-raced Bo Cruz.

Florita, 1-1 over fences, is feared but marginal preference is for recent C&D runner-up ATHAIR MOR.

15/2(-15%) | (6) Fast Work 15/2, Made mistakes but improved on his final qualifying run when fourth, beaten 12l, in a maiden hurdle at Newcastle last time. Effective around 2m4f and acts on soft and good ground. In fair form. AW Flat win in October; has reached frame in handicap hurdles since; place shout. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Oneinthewell posted his best effort over hurdles when fifth at Huntingdon and market support on his handicap bow may prove significant. However, an opening mark of 104 does demand improvement and preference is for BROOKSIDE LA. Dan Skelton's gelding has shaped encouragingly on all three outings over timber and an opening mark of 99 could prove lenient. Big Boy Barney is also worth a second look reverting to the smaller obstacles.

Oneinthewell and BROOKSIDE LA rather stand out as likely improvers in handicaps for their top stables, with the latter preferred.

1st (5) (8/11 +47%)Konfusion |
8/11(+47%) | (5) Konfusion 8/11, Travelled strongly, jumped boldly, and did it easily, improving again under a positive ride to land a Rehearsal Handicap Chase by 15l off an 11lb lower mark at Newcastle last time. Trainer in form, enjoys racing prominently; effective from 2½m to 3m and progressive as a stayer. C&D winner; bolted up in Rehearsal at Newcastle last month and can make light of 10lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (4/1 +0%)Marble Sands |
4/1(+0%) | (1) Marble Sands 4/1, Travelled, ran to form benefitting from patient ride off strong pace landing a Handicap Chase by 4l off a 5lb lower mark at Cheltenham last time; effective 2 1/2-3m, acts on S, G; dual purpose performer in good form. |PU| (4) (8/1 +11%)Butch |
8/1(+11%) | (4) Butch 8/1, Landed a Paddy Power Handicap Hurdle by a neck off a 3lb lower mark at Cheltenham in January; outpaced, needed run after wind op Comfortably held in a graduation chase last time; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on Hy, GS; may need drop in grade. Useful but he was miles behind Knappers Hill on last month's return from wind surgery. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Konfusion could prove popular after bolting up in the Rehearsal at Newcastle last month, but he has an added 10lb for that success and will need to improve. KNAPPERS HILL was off the course for two years before returning with a fourth at Haydock in November, but he's off a mark of 145 here and could be well handicapped if back to his best. The recent Cheltenham winner Marble Sands appears best of the rest.

The way KONFUSION (nap) had them strung out in the Rehearsal at Newcastle suggests he could still be well treated after a 10lb rise.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (17/2 +23%)Icare Allen |
17/2(+23%) | (1) Icare Allen 17/2, Had every chance but ran below form when beaten 8l in a handicap hurdle at Aintree last time; back up in trip after a short break; probably best at 2 1/2m now; remains well treated on old form but unreliable. Won at Uttoxeter in July; not disgraced at Aintree last time; others have more potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/8 +50%)Glen Road |
11/8(+50%) | (2) Glen Road 11/8, Landed a handicap by 2l off a 7lb lower mark at Kelso last time; trainer in form; effective 2 1/2m, ideally wants 3m; latest form franked, more to come as a stayer, could follow up. Arrives on a hat-trick; commands major respect despite 7lb rise since latest win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/1 -20%)Sunray Shadow |
9/1(-20%) | (4) Sunray Shadow 9/1, Outpaced and unsuited by how the race unfolded when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Aintree last time; tongue-tie fitted for the first time; effective at 2 1/2m and showing signs of running into form this term. 6th (7) (8/1 -191%)Be The Difference |
8/1(-191%) | (7) Be The Difference 8/1, Raced freely when landing a handicap by 5l off a 8lb lower mark at Sedgefield last time; effective 2m4f-3m1f, acts on S, G; well treated escaping penalty, could complete hat trick. Three wins in recent weeks; back up in grade but hard to rule out in current form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (28/1 -133%)Golden Glance |
28/1(-133%) | (5) Golden Glance 28/1, Ran to form when beaten 8l in a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham last time; returns after a very long absence; looks the pick on race times if ready to go. Fifth at Cheltenham when last seen but will need to be right at her best after long break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Malicash looks interesting in first-time cheekpieces and with Charlie Maggs claiming 5lb from the saddle. The six-year-old could go close off his current mark if the headgear has a positive effect. Be The Difference landed a hat-trick at Sedgefield recently but has been put up 8lb for that and this class demands more from him, so GLEN ROAD is the pick. His last win at Kelso over further has seen him upped 7lb, but he may still be a step ahead of the handicapper.

Glen Road is on a hat-trick but the runner with the most potential is DAYLATEDOLLARSHORT who can improve for the step up in trip.

25/1(+62%) | (10) William Of York 25/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Newcastle latest. Enjoys making the running; best around 2m4f and acts on heavy or good ground. Needs to prove ability remains after a long layoff. Completed hat-trick in early 2024 but pulled up all three starts since. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

It was hard not to be impressed by Big City Roller's chasing debut when bolting up at Bangor in February and he needs to be considered, along with the recent Newcastle third Joecooker. However, GET UP MUSH readily justified favouritism at Warwick when last seen in September 2024 and returns off just a 4lb higher rating. The unexposed seven-year-old could prove a tough nut to crack on his return.

Charlie Longsdon's BIG CITY ROLLER had plenty to spare on his Bangor chase debut in February and can follow up on his return.

2nd (1) (7/1 -75%)Avalon Beach |
7/1(-75%) | (1) Avalon Beach 7/1, Ground was probably too testing when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Sedgefield last time. The trainer is in form, and he should be effective from 2m to 2m4f on good ground. Progressive type who could improve in handicaps. Didn't get home at 2m4f on handicap debut; may well have more to offer down in trip/grade. |

3rd (9) (9/2 -50%)Toby Two Scoops |
9/2(-50%) | (9) Toby Two Scoops 9/2, Ran to form beaten 4l off a 2lb lower mark at Sedgefield last time; effective 12-16f, acts on S, G; maiden on flat, opening mark over hurdles demands more. Moderate Flat maiden who turned in best effort over hurdles on handicap debut; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (22/1 -120%)Animato |
22/1(-120%) | (2) Animato 22/1, Appeared not to stay when 23l third in a maiden hurdle at Sedgefield on his most recent run. A multiple flat winner at 2m, he has more to come over hurdles but probably in handicaps. This looks easier at least. Useful Flat winner but ordinary form over hurdles; down in trip and cheekpieces back on. |

5th (7) (13/2 +19%)Hourless |
13/2(+19%) | (7) Hourless 13/2, Well backed when fourth, beaten 8l in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective between 2m and 2m3f and acts on soft and good ground. Open to further improvement. Has not won since 2023; respectable effort last time but he's more of a place prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (14/1 -40%)Genbu |
14/1(-40%) | (8) Genbu 14/1, Below par when comfortably held in a juvenile hurdle at Catterick last time. Effective at 2m on good ground, and his flat form suggests he handles softer going. The form of his win was weak, but he's generally consistent. Good-ground C&D winner; should appreciate the step into handicaps; one to keep an eye on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (22/1 +12%)Yapper Hill |
22/1(+12%) | (4) Yapper Hill 22/1, Refused in a handicap hurdle at Newcastle last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f on good ground. May do better now handicapping, but his current mark demands improvement. Hinted at ability over hurdles but ran out (hung left) on handicap debut; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (9/2 -29%)Mojo Ego |
9/2(-29%) | (3) Mojo Ego 9/2, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 14l in a handicap hurdle at Aintree last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground. Now dropped to an attractive mark and could be ready to strike soon. Plenty of chances since last win but running respectably in blinkers; claims down in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (8/1 +60%)Genies Girl |
8/1(+60%) | (10) Genies Girl 8/1, Keen and every chance when running to form on handicap debut, finishing fourth beaten 11l in a handicap hurdle here last time. Returning from a long layoff. Posted best effort over hurdles over C&D in March; more needed on first run since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (28/1 -180%)King Horse |
28/1(-180%) | (6) King Horse 28/1, Ran to form but was comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Kelso last time. Showed little in points and has plenty to prove here. May do better now handicapping but pedigree suggests he'll be suited by further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (50/1 -25%)Gold Ring |
50/1(-25%) | (11) Gold Ring 50/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Carlisle last time when returning from a long layoff. Hard to recommend based on recent form. Has won twice on the Flat but hasn't shown enough over hurdles to make him of interest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The one that appeals most is HOURLESS, who showed more when fourth in a warmer event over C&D earlier in the month and was subsequently eased 2lb. This drop in grade might be just what is needed for the five-year-old to regain the winning thread. Toby Two Scoops finished a fair second at this level at Sedgefield and only has a 2lb higher rating to contend with, while Animato is another to keep an eye on.

This could go to MOJO EGO who takes a drop in grade and whose last race has thrown up winners. Avalon Beach may give him most to do.
Ths is the racecard key.
