Cheekpieces go on for the first time and the trainer is in form. Effective from 2m4f to 3m2f and acts on heavy and good ground; headgear needs to work. Good fourth at Cheltenham before struggling faced with a stiff task last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (10/1 +29%)Not A Light |
10/1(+29%) | (8) Not A Light 10/1, Poorly placed in a race dominated from the front when fourth, beaten 10l, in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster last time. Effective around 2m4f to 3m and acts on soft and good to soft ground. Unexposed as a stayer back over fences. Let down by jumping on chase debut and again not at best returned to hurdling a month ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (9/1 +10%)Maximum Offers |
9/1(+10%) | (6) Maximum Offers 9/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced but showed promise on chase debut when fourth, beaten 30l, in a handicap chase at Taunton last time. Effective from 2m to 3m and suited by a sound surface. May progress over fences. Winning hurdler who didn't jump well enough when favourite for his chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (12/1 -9%)Mombasa |
12/1(-9%) | (2) Mombasa 12/1, Made mistakes and went too fast early when fourth, beaten 18l, in the Tom Malone Bloodstock Novices' Chase (Listed) at Chepstow on chase debut. Returns from a long absence. Effective from 2m to 2m2f and acts on soft and good ground; may need this run. Listed hurdle winner in France; makes stable/handicap debut after a break; watch market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (7) (9/2 +18%)Clotilda |
9/2(+18%) | (7) Clotilda 9/2, Ran to form when beaten 3l off a 2lb higher mark here last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on soft and good ground. A consistent mare who is respected again and may be suited by this longer trip. Good runs last twice but doesn't look ahead of her mark and stamina isn't guaranteed. |

12/1(-9%) | (5) Gaelic Rambler 12/1, Raced too freely when second, beaten 22l, in a maiden hurdle at Chepstow last time. Returns from a long layoff. Effective at 3m and acts on good ground. |PU| (1) (6/4 +14%)Golan Loop |
6/4(+14%) | (1) Golan Loop 6/4, Did it readily and improved up in trip when landing a handicap by 4 1/2l off a 6lb lower mark at Hereford last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m1f and acts on soft and good ground. A progressive stayer who could take some beating. Hereford winner at this trip; this is tougher off 6lb higher but heading the right way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (12/1 +40%)Tommys Charm |
12/1(+40%) | (4) Tommys Charm 12/1, Another poor effort when pulled up in a handicap chase at Wetherby last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m and prefers plenty of cut in the ground. Has plenty to prove at present. Only three runs back he went close in this last year off same mark; player if back on song. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

GOLAN LOOP shaped with real promise on his chasing debut, finishing second, and he made no mistake at Hereford next time. Warren Greatrex's charge has had little exposure to the larger obstacles and, with that in mind, he's fancied to follow up off 6lb higher. Clotilda has occupied the runner-up spot on each of her last two starts, most recently over 2m4f here, and she could find progress at this longer trip. Class-dropper Major Fortune enters calculations, and don't rule out Mombasa, who will attempt to get back on track having endured an interrupted career so far.

Preference is for MAJOR FORTUNE who ran well at Cheltenham before struggling in the face of a stiff task last time.

Has run well in all his maiden hurdles and he sets the standard here by some way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (3/1 +10%)Unknown Entity |
3/1(+10%) | (7) Unknown Entity 3/1, Had too much to do when an improved third, beaten 13l, in a novice hurdle at Ludlow on his latest run after a break; trainer in form; effective 2m–2m5f and handles soft; bumper form franked at Graded level but needs to bounce back. 100/1(+50%) | (6) Tobi Kanobee 100/1, Showed little when finishing down the field in a novice hurdle at Exeter last time after a short break; yet to show any worthwhile form under rules. Poor pointer and nothing to show for his two runs under rules. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (20/1 +20%)Corner Forward |
20/1(+20%) | (2) Corner Forward 20/1, Improved on a poor debut but was comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Hereford last time; effective at 2m on good to soft and may do better when handicapping. Pulled up in a Fontwell maiden and then a 26l sixth at Hereford; one for handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (100/1 +50%)Deauville Lady |
100/1(+50%) | (9) Deauville Lady 100/1, Outpaced and needed the run on hurdle debut when down the field in a novice hurdle at Exeter last time; plenty to prove for now. Tailed off in a Hereford bumper and completely tailed off in an Exeter novice hurdle. |

10th (10) (100/1 +50%)Cosmic Spirit |
100/1(+50%) | (10) Cosmic Spirit 100/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced when finishing down the field at Kempton last time; off a short break following a wind operation; yet to show any ability. Has had wind surgery since last run but no worthwhile form as yet, on the Flat or hurdling. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

This should be an excellent opportunity for GAELIC PRIDE to break his hurdling duck. The Kool Kompany gelding finished second on his first two starts over timber and didn't appear to stay an extended 2m5f at Ascot next time. He sets a decent standard dropped in trip though and is expected to be too strong for Unknown Entity and One Island.

Unknown Entity ran a nice race at Ludlow but he'll need to take a significant step forward if he's to trouble GAELIC PRIDE.

7/4(+7%) | (7) Wolf Walker 7/4, Rallied gamely, improved under positive ride but looked in need of stiffer test when second beaten 2 1/2l in a novice hurdle at Haydock latest; effective 2m-3m2f; multiple point winner may want further. Placed on all three hurdling starts in the autumn and ought to give another good account. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (7/2 +30%)Innamorato |
7/2(+30%) | (9) Innamorato 7/2, Below his French form but with excuses when well beaten in a juvenile hurdle at Taunton last time; effective over 2m1f on ground with cut and capable of better than he showed there. 100/1(+50%) | (2) Eric Gorcombe 100/1, Has shown no worthwhile form and returns from a long layoff; best watched for now. Pulled up at triple-digit odds on both hurdling starts for Jimmy Frost last January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (33/1 +34%)Regal Icon |
33/1(+34%) | (5) Regal Icon 33/1, Took a step back from a fair debut when finishing down the field in a bumper at Exeter most recently; effective around 1m7f on good ground and could improve now switching to hurdles. Not beaten far on bumper debut but tailed off since; now switches to hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (100/1 +33%)Grey Aquila |
100/1(+33%) | (8) Grey Aquila 100/1, Never featured from off the pace when down the field in a maiden hurdle here last time; yet to show any ability. Well beaten in both bumpers and when 150-1 for hurdling debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Multiple point winner Wolf Walker has done well since switching to hurdles, finishing second on both occasions, and can be expected to go close once again. However, it is SINCHI ROCA that shades preference. Syd Hosie's charge fetched 70,000 pounds at the sales and has been thrown in at the deep end in bumpers this term. He makes his hurdling debut in only a moderate event and it would come as no surprise were he to prove good enough. Liam Mera Kai can take home some more minor money.

Hurdling debutant SINCHI ROCA showed some useful form in bumpers and will be suited by the forecast rain.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Ran well here two starts ago but is 0-16 over hurdles; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (15/2 +32%)Just Aidan |
15/2(+32%) | (10) Just Aidan 15/2, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Leicester last time; effective at 2m on heavy or good to soft ground but has something to prove at present. Two wins (one over C&D); might have needed last month's run; Sean Bowen booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

18/1(+10%) | (1) Jackomy 18/1, Showed little when finishing down the field in a novice hurdle here last time; may need more time under rules. Showed only minor promise in maiden/novice hurdles; improvement required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (13) (40/1 +39%)Talap |
40/1(+39%) | (13) Talap 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle here last time; effective from 2m to 2m3f on any ground but others are preferred. Ran well for a long way over C&D on Boxing Day but overall profile remains unconvincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (13/2 +35%)Western Soldier |
13/2(+35%) | (6) Western Soldier 13/2, Scored by 3 1/2l off a 7lb lower mark here two starts ago and ran to form when second last time from the same mark; effective at 2m on soft or good ground but this mark demands more. Scored over C&D in November; still on workable mark but forecast rain a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (25/1 +38%)Mistress Emma |
25/1(+38%) | (2) Mistress Emma 25/1, Outpaced and never threatened when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Kempton last time; returns from a short break and remains out of form; effective from 2m to 2m3f. Placed twice over hurdles last term but both handicap runs in November were disappointing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

After justifying favouritism to complete a double at Uttoxeter, Postponed Legacy is sure to attract support. However, a 10lb rise asks for more and that might open the door for UGO BINGO, who finished fourth in a warmer event over C&D on Boxing Day and was dropped 2lb. The seven-year-old was just touched off into second when last seen at this level at Exeter in October and he looks the one to side with. No Guarantee completes the shortlist.

This is competitive but the forecast rain tips the scales in favour of MORNING MAYHEM, who excelled on heavy ground two starts ago.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (7/1 +7%)One Eye On Vegas |
7/1(+7%) | (5) One Eye On Vegas 7/1, Ran to his best when landing a handicap by a nose off a 4lb lower mark at Leicester last time. Effective around 2m4f and acts on heavy and soft ground. Has a chance off his revised mark. This is likely to take more winning than the Leicester race and he's 4lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (5/1 +0%)Choice Runner |

8th (3) (5/1 +29%)Light Fandango |
5/1(+29%) | (3) Light Fandango 5/1, Returned to form down in class, appreciating a stiff test when dropping in trip to land a handicap by 2l off a 5lb lower mark at Doncaster last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (4/1 +0%)King Of The Road |
4/1(+0%) | (1) King Of The Road 4/1, Travelled well and returned to form in first-time cheekpieces when beaten 1 1/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Kempton last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on good to soft and good ground. Generally consistent performer. Finished clear of the third at Kempton so a 4lb rise could have been worse. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (10/1 +29%)Purple Owl |
10/1(+29%) | (11) Purple Owl 10/1, Ran to form, suited by positive ride 13l third in a maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter most recent run; effective at 2m, acts on G; in form, could progress in handicaps now upped in trip. 13l third to the smart Baron Noir last time; could be on a fair mark for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (25/1 +0%)Moutarde |
25/1(+0%) | (6) Moutarde 25/1, Ran well for a long way before tiring up the hill when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham latest. Effective at 2m and acts on good to soft and good ground. Highly tried as a juvenile with form tailing off prior to latest run. Didn't run too badly in the new visor at Cheltenham but will need to back that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (50/1 +24%)Doctor Glide |
50/1(+24%) | (7) Doctor Glide 50/1, Another poor run when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Taunton most recently. Effective at 2m on soft ground but has plenty to prove at present. Ex-Irish maiden who been pulled up and tailed off in his two handicaps for this yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

KING OF THE ROAD's second-placed finish at Kempton on Boxing Day reads well and this ease in class gives him a good chance of brushing a side a 4lb rise. Going right-handed suits the selection, while the forecast going should be very much to his liking. The last-time-out winners One Eye On Vegas and Light Fandango command obvious respect based on recent form, while Meatloaf is a previous course winner that could also have a big say.

An open race may go to KING OF THE ROAD who was clear of the rest when pushing an improver all the way at Kempton.

3/1(+10%) | (7) A Perfect Day 3/1, Improved when landing a handicap by 4l off a 6lb lower mark at Lingfield last time; effective around 2m4f-2m7f, acts on S, GS; more to offer, can go well again. Has more on his plate than at Lingfield but he could be a young stayer going places. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (6/1 +33%)Punta Del Este |
6/1(+33%) | (2) Punta Del Este 6/1, Returned to form when beaten 3 1/2l off a 1lb lower mark at Ascot last time for a yard that won this race last year. Effective from 2m to 3m and suited by plenty of cut; well treated if building on latest effort. Ran his best race since joining David Pipe when a rallying third at Ascot (2m5f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (8/1 +33%)Rubber Ball |
8/1(+33%) | (5) Rubber Ball 8/1, Failed to find much and may not have stayed when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Aintree last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f, acts on soft and good to soft; mark easing. Mark continues to fall but a bit to prove right now and stamina is unproven. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (8/1 +6%)Loverdose |
8/1(+6%) | (8) Loverdose 8/1, Raced close to a strong pace when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Newbury last time but had been in good form prior. Effective at 2m4f and acts on soft and good ground; progressive but the handicapper may have caught up. Disappointed at Newbury in late November but that was his first blip in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (12/1 +25%)Diamond Ri |
12/1(+25%) | (1) Diamond Ri 12/1, Stopped quickly after an error when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Newbury most recently. Wears cheekpieces for the first time; effective over 2m4f and acts on soft and good ground. Needs to prove ability remains after a layoff. Useful novice but has shown very little since returning from a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (13/2 -8%)Oh My Johnny |
13/2(-8%) | (9) Oh My Johnny 13/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 9 1/2l in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time. Effective from 2m to 2m7f and acts on soft and good to soft ground; capable of another good run. Under the pump a long way out when no match for an easy winner at Uttoxeter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (25/1 +0%)Tommy The Tank |
25/1(+0%) | (6) Tommy The Tank 25/1, Needed the run and made mistakes when pulled up in a handicap chase at Sandown latest. The trainer is in form; effective at 3m with cut, and a return to hurdles may suit. 3m1f maiden hurdle winner; didn't jump well on chase/handicap debut the last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (28/1 -12%)Emailandy |
28/1(-12%) | (3) Emailandy 28/1, No obvious excuse when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Kempton last time. Effective at 2m4f on a sound surface but currently out of form. Old form offers hope but he's achieved nothing in his last six races. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

TURNDLIGHTSDOWNLOW was a close second to an upwardly mobile rival at Sandown last month. Given that effort came on the back of a couple of facile handicap wins at Kempton, the progressive six-year-old is hard to ignore, despite a 7lb rise. The low-mileage A Perfect Day has also adapted well to handicaps, with his Lingfield win creating the hope of plenty more to come. David Pipe trained the winner of this race 12 months ago and his Punta Del Este is another interesting option.

The 6yo TURNDLIGHTSDOWNLOW smacks of a stayer on the upgrade and his consistency gives him a further edge over some of these.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/4 +0%)Isaac Des Obeaux |
11/4(+0%) | (4) Isaac Des Obeaux 11/4, Did it cosily and was well treated back in a handicap when landing a race by 5l off a 6lb lower mark at Exeter last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m with cut and steadily progressing over fences. Always been a good horse and off the mark over fences with some authority at Exeter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (11/4 +31%)Destroytheevidence |
11/4(+31%) | (3) Destroytheevidence 11/4, Raced wide and a bit lazily but returned to form down in class when beaten a length off a 1lb lower mark at Ludlow last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m on a sound surface though can be inconsistent. Razed lazily but stuck to his guns to be second at Ludlow; interesting now visored. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (15/2 +25%)Our Power |
15/2(+25%) | (1) Our Power 15/2, No obvious excuse when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Ascot last time; off a short-break; effective 3m+ with cut; could come on for latest run. Third in last season's Scottish National; might be sharper for his Ascot completion. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (6/1 +25%)Iron Bridge |
6/1(+25%) | (2) Iron Bridge 6/1, Returned to form down in trip and grade when beaten a neck off a 1lb lower mark at Carlisle last time. Cheekpieces first time; off a short break; effective at 3m and acts on any ground; has a chance if building on that effort. Inconsistent but returned to action with a near miss at Carlisle in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (11/2 +21%)Operation Manna |
11/2(+21%) | (6) Operation Manna 11/2, Outpaced, rallied, returned to form back from break on chase debut when second beaten 5l in a handicap chase at Exeter latest; effective 2m4f-3m, acts with cut; may have more to offer over fences. 5-12 over hurdles; second to Isaac Des Obeaux on chase debut; sent further here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (25/1 +24%)Rapper |
25/1(+24%) | (5) Rapper 25/1, Raced lazily and produced a poor run when beaten 10l in a handicap chase at Ludlow last time. Effective up to 3m2f with cut but has shown little since returning from an absence. He's pulled up and finished last in two races after a year on the sidelines. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

All of these have claims, but marginal preference is for IRON BRIDGE. The 10-year-old was only beaten a neck into second on his seasonal return at Carlisle in November and first-time cheekpieces may help him to defy a 1lb rise here. Last month's Exeter winner Isaac Des Obeaux is an obvious threat to the selection, while the second from that contest Operation Manna is another with strong claims.

Off the lowest weight and having held his own in strong Class 2 handicaps the last twice, RIVERS CORNER (nap) looks sure to run well.

14/1(+13%) | (2) Dunstall Star 14/1, Telescope gelding; half-brother to Dunstall Rambler, who was fair around 2m over hurdles and fences. Probably best watched on debut. Out of a sister to high-class chaser Nacarat and stable gets bumper winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (80/1 +0%)Up The Hill |
80/1(+0%) | (10) Up The Hill 80/1, Getaway mare; first foal of a 2m3f hurdles winner. Looks an unlikely winner on debut with a yard not renowned for bumper success. Stable 0-5 in bumpers in recent seasons and this could be a decent race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (16/1 +27%)Lingering Glance |
16/1(+27%) | (5) Lingering Glance 16/1, Passing Glance gelding; brother to Dashel Drasher, a high-class performer at 24f over hurdles and capable over fences. Could go well at a price on debut. Brother to the stable's high-class bumper and 2m3f-3m hurdle/chase winner Dashel Drasher. |

9/1(0%) | (6) Murphy's Mate 9/1, 4,500 euros Wings Of Eagles gelding; first foal of a mare who won a bumper and over hurdles. Tongue-tied on debut and could go well. 4,500euros foal; first foal out of a bumper/2m2f hurdle winner; tongue tied. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Having cost 110,000 pounds as a store, BEAU SPEED makes plenty of appeal as a half-brother to the useful bumper performer Authorised Speed. Fine Tuning is closely related to the high-class Regent's Stroll and cost 86,000 euros. With that in mind, he merits a market inspection for a yard with a good record in bumpers. Others to note are Murphy's Mate, Shady Knight and Valiant Soldier.

A few of these appeal on paper so this could be a fair bumper. FINE TUNING is a half-brother to the very smart Regent's Stroll.
Ths is the racecard key.
